Staff sucks in solo PvE. I’ve been leveling my Ele in the Pavilion and staffing as part of a group is awesome. Bottom line of what I’ve learned leveling (up to 51), staff sucks solo and is awesome in a group. D/D or D/F is where it has been at for me while going solo. I was getting trashed once I left the Pavilion using my staff xD.

Precursor acquisition not unfair

It is getting increasingly annoying listening to the constant whining and complaining about getting precursors. It’s not unfair how you get a precursor, it’s just the way it is. My favorite is when someone takes a righteous stand against ring (sarcasm intended) and says “I’m not making a legendary until they fix how you get a precursor” well good for you, keep swinging the pearl greatsword of dignity while half of the population is enjoying their legendaries. Ever ACTUALLY tried forging a precursor? It’s an amazing feeling when one actually pops. It is not unfair either. Everyone has the same chance to pull a precursor from the forge as the next. The people with gold have more opportunities to throw items in the forge. And who usually has the most gold? The heard core players that you mystic forge bashes all claim to be representing. Anyone.who actually plays this game as much as.they claim to should have no problem amassing 10-15 gold a day. Save it up and forge. And please stop whining because you don’t like it. It’s really getting boring. Now, bring on the backlash…

I’m sure the OP was trying to make a point, but all it did was make them look very foolish.

Ever ACTUALLY tried forging a precursor

Are you even being serious right now? What the **** do you think people have been doing since launch.

It’s an amazing feeling when one actually pops

You don’t say. That’s a feeling too many people have been waiting to feel for FAR too long.

It is not unfair either. Everyone has the same chance to pull a precursor from the forge as the next. The people with gold have more opportunities to throw items in the forge.

So you’re saying rich people have more opportunities and therefore more chances than poorer players. That kind of sounds unfair to me.

no problem amassing 10-15 gold a day

Ah yes, the infamous “10-15g” per day post that so many people think the average player can make in a day. I hate to break it to you, but the people complaining about precursors aren’t even remotely anywhere near being able to pull in 10-15g per day. Farming for gold might have worked from some casual players when precursors ranged from 300-600g for the more desirable ones. Now that most of them are approaching 1000 if not 1500g, the average player can forget it.

And please stop whining because you don’t like it. It’s really getting boring.

What’s really getting boring are topics like this. People who get lucky and end up with 6 precursors over their playing experience and of course think the system is fine. It’s not. The problem is people using rares. Compounded by the other problem of rares are all they can afford. On behalf of all the unlucky players who are still hoping to get their precursor at some point before they move on to other games, thanks for spitting in all of their faces. Topics like this just make everyone feel so much better.

I got on some of my level 80’s to do the Gauntlet and my God it was just an avalanche of whispers from gold sellers. My eyes have been opened. It’s unbearable and completely out of control.

There’s having “ultra ultra rare” items that symbolize incredible luck, and there’s “ultra ultra rare” items people actually have a chance to get. All GW2 is anymore is the former. Rubbish droprates and the complete inability to go out and farm mats if you want to make something. In most games rich people could just buy their stuff, but the poor could go out and gather for days and build it themselves. Some people like to farm or gather, some people don’t. Bottom line is that everybody could get something. Lodestones, Giant’s Eyes, etc are completely unfarmable, as with way too many other things in this game. I’m sorry, I like this game a lot, it does a lot of things right that makes it better than many other MMOs. But what it gets wrong, it really gets wrong.

Boss Blitz mechanics questions and rant

in Festival of the Four Winds

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

The turret is not passed on. That’s why uncoordinated zergs leave her for last. People just don’t listen or assume she passes on the turret.

For Boss Blitz, you have to look at the meaning of the wording: it’s supposed to be a blitz, where all bosses are fought together by smaller groups. Not this go from boss to boss crud that seems to be the only way people think they can do this. Boom Boom Baines is fine. The concept behind the event is that a smaller group face her as part of a larger zerg fighting everyone else simultaneously. When the whole map converges on her, her turret goes to level 84. When it stays level 80 it goes down fast and she doesn’t heal for 5 hours before it is finally destroyed. For all it’s faults and claims of poor design, it’s not ANet’s fault people can’t organize to do the event the way it should be and do their own “train” method of Boss Blitz.

It seems to me that is what I’ll remember most from GW2 down the road. Not being able to farm mats for things I’d like to make, on top of some of the worst crud drop rates of desirable items of any game I’ve ever played. Simply way too many things have a less than 1% drop rate. Way too many.

Might as well forget about it. Anet is making way too much money off cash to gems to gold. Despite what people might say, if precursors didn’t sell for close to the prices listed, then people would have to drop them and according to GW2Spidy, they have been selling. So that means either people are farming that gold in game or they are buying gems with real life cash. If it’s the latter then again, why would Anet kill the cash cow.

Well, we know they aren’t farming it unless they have secret spots or opportunities, because the best farm spots always get nerfed xD.

The second half once you join his crusade sucks. He gets all the credit for everything. All our character gets known for is being second in command of the Pact.

I was disappointed too, but in reality this is rehashed content, and there’s a large amount of achievements and you only need 14. Killing all the bosses is 6 right there, and another 6 for killing 50 of each thing. I think when new content comes around with more difficult achievements the daily will return. I would hate for it to be gone, because I only got the meta on some events because of the dailies. The Puppet event comes to mind, as I continually was forced to fail a lot of those attempts because they were group based despite personally completing the requirement and ended up missing out on 3-4 achievements.

That’s the fundamental problem with this game. When you want to craft something, you simply can’t just go out and get it. You need 350 Charged Lodestones total for something? Good freakin luck. Farming is necessary in MMOs. It just is. Yeah, it sucks, but people who want stuff are going to get it. People who don’t, won’t.

I see a great skin on the TP and think to myself what could the mats be? Then I find it’s 250 Lodestones, 250 eyes, or 250 of something I simply don’t even remotely ever have a chance of acquiring. Absolutely never will I under any circumstance EVER acquire 250 of any Lodestone. It’s disheartening. People shouldn’t have to sit there knowing they will never be able to make something they want.

If the eyes had a drop rate and could be farmed 4-5/hour, people would still do it to work towards what they want. With NOTHING of any kind having any droprate whatsoever, what’s even the point anymore. And I’m not trying to put ANet out on blast and have this modded, it’s just how a lot of people are starting to feel.

Damage Meters and Inspect Commands

Woljnir.7810

If playing how you want infringes on someone else playing how they want, nothing will ever be solved. Inspect someone and see they have their own build and aren’t zerker, kick right away without even saying anything. Am I doing it right?

Also DPS meters? Really? In a game that basically just consists of 5 man groups of all DPS, I don’t think DPS meters are needed in the least other than to stroke Berserker’s kitten and the need to see the big numbers. And yes, I understand you said nothing about Berserker, but that is honestly how your post comes off.

1. The other way around works too. If someone else plays how they want which I don’t approve, it will infringe on how I play how I want if I let them in my party. In this case, if you don’t want to take the time to equip for the right equipment in my party, then create your own party that accepts anybody even with lower gear levels.

2. There are people that wants to find the highest DPS ever and then there are people like me. I will need DPS meters to know how much DPS I have for this build. I can choose to sacrifice DPS for utility if I need to. Let say that I want to use Ranger Axe/Axe build. First I look for the highest dps possible, then I shave off the dps for utility/survivability if I choose to. There are builds for highest DPS for warriors; however, they all use Greatsword or axe/mace, yet there are no builds for highest mace DPS build. As a mace guy, I assure that it will reinforce on playing how I want.

And this is exactly why it doesn’t exist. Those people who don’t like a person’s build so they just kick them? Yeah, that’s you. The elitism just drips from your post. Sorry that you feel the need to approve of other player’s builds. The “right equipment” isn’t decided by anybody other than the player.

You missed the part where using whatever gear that will hurt the party dps will infringe on my playstyle. It is my party, I created the LFG with the title: “Zerker and experienced only!” I do not want to invite any players that will waste unnecessary time in the dungeon run with DPS so low, it will take for hours to complete.

If you don’t like the way how I play, make your own party. You don’t need to join my party. It cost 0 gold 0 silver 0 copper to make your own lfg. I do create and join parties that accept anyone. These parties do exist and there are players willing to join these parties.

I didn’t miss it though. If you made the party and said “zerker only etc” and that person doesn’t meet that criteria and joined party anyway, then certainly kick them. If the group said Ping gear and they don’t, then kick them. My points are for groups that don’t specifically state what criteria they want in a group, but simply inspect their gear and automatically assume they’re bad. For groups with specifically stated criteria that some scrub joins anyway, by all means kick their butt out.

All the other ingredients for a Legendary are sure-fire from the Forge. You put certain things in, and get what you need out of it every time. Precursors should be the same. There should be sure-fire recipes that when you put all 4 in the forge, out pops your Precursor. The “precursor” for your Precursor could be sold by the Forge Vendor (I forget her name) and be as simple as “Wooden Greatsword” or “Wooden Dagger” that, after combining it with 3 other fantastical items, boom, turns that wooden piece of crud into the precursor you need. Need unique, hard to get items, but not too expensive because the Legendary grind is already intense enough for the average player.

I believe the drop rate of precursor’s from enemies is below 1%. Maybe even with a zero in front of it, so not .5%, but .05% for example. The odds are disastrously low. That being said, of course people get them as drops. I’m just not holding my breath in the least of EVER getting something of that magnitude to drop from an enemy. The only exotics that ever drop from enemies for me are usually only worth a few gold.

Woljnir.7810

what we’re asking for is out of combat switching, something we’re doing anyway, we just would like it to be a little easier. Is that so “out of balance”?

Any one that doesn’t play ele/eng will argue against the inclusion of this simple feature. Because they haven’t played these professions, they don’t understand what the underlying issue is. They will keep arguing for the sake of arguing.

I play both – I don’t find having one weapon a problem. How would you argue with me – I have 1 of every profession…..

Do you EVER switch weapons? If so, how do you switch them? Please explain to me and everyone here in specific steps how you go about switching weapons on your ele or eng.

I don’t feel the need to switch so I don’t. How about that. For my Engineer – I use a rifle or grenade/bomb kit.

With my Ele, using sceptre/focus currently. Since I have 4 Attunements to deal with, it feels like 4 different weapon sets.

It’s like you’re just not getting it. I don’t mean to sound flaming or attacking by this, but we’re not talking about attunements and weapon sets. At all. That needs to stop being brought up. We’re talking about builds that are viable for multiple weapons. Personally I get bored with one weapon, which is why the switching in this game has been awesome. We understand why Ele’s can’t do that. There’s just no tactical advantage that people seem to think there would be by allowing Ele’s to switch out of combat. With SOOO many convenience items and other things in this game it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility that Ele’s COULD at some point get an OOC switch. It is not game breaking in the least.

Well, average player is able to obtain a legendary, no matter how RNG rewards precursor, every acc is possible to loot one soon or later. What GW2 focused is contents that all players, no matter hardcore or causal players still able to access. Most game out there, some weapons are very rare and got very slim chance to drop, some player may not able to own them during their whole play time. The worst thing for those game is, the item can not be traded. GW2 is more or less more forgiving than those GAMES, you can get a slim chance to loot, you can MF gambling or you can buy it from TP. Legendary is by no mean for everybody’s weapon skin, and it is already more common than most of the weapon.

The nature of RNG also says there are those who will never get one drop, especially this RNG. That said, I disagree that trading them is better than those where they cannot be traded. Precursors, should be a reward for some sort of epic questline. Legendary weapons should never have been in the TP. Someone who buys a legendary weapon should never be allowed to equip it without first fulfilling some sort of requirements showing one is “worthy” of the weapon. Then we would see far less. But that’s not how it is and we’re stuck with a broken system, so we can only hope ANet does something to reign in prices.

One of the most fundamentally agreed upon statements in the GW2 community. The only people who disagree are the ones who make all the gold buying and flipping them. Legendary weapons should have stories behind them. Why are they Legendary? Because they come with purple text?

If ANet truly wants to keep Legendaries as rare items only a few players will have, then they need to give Precursors very low base odds, or the market would very quickly become flooded with them. I agree that it would really suck from a singular player’s perspective, but there’s a reason behind what they’re doing.

I simply don’t believe that ANet wants only a few players to have Legendaries. The major selling point of GW2 was how different it was from other MMOs and that a player could truly do everything in this game they wanted. Dungeons, PVP, large raid-style dynamic events, etc. It contradicts all of that if ANet wants to limit the amount of players who have Legendaries.

Let’s not forget the grind for the rest of the mats for the Gifts. An average player who is not good at making gold isn’t going to have the rest of the gifts complete in 3 days. It’s going to take months to get everything together. I’d rather a player get a precursor easily then spend the time getting everything else than have a player get everything else done and be stuck with no precursor for months on end.

There are thousands of people running around the game swinging Twilights and shooting rainbow unicorns. It’s not that hard to do if you focus on the goal, just takes a long time to get there. Most players give up along the way because they don’t have the patience of dedication it takes.

The average player is not supposed to be able to create a Legendary weapon. This is why they are not called “really cool skins you can buy for $10 from the gem shop.”

100% wrong. One of the selling points of this game was that any player regardless of skill level or play time can do whatever it is they want. Endless gear grinds that restarted every 4-5 months were out, people could do dungeons, pvp, wvw, craft, whatever without having to meet ridiculous outside requirements. Has it worked out perfectly? Of course not, but what has worked out is that the AVERAGE player can certainly get a legendary if they want.

You just make no sense. You say:

It’s not that hard to do if you focus on the goal, just takes a long time to get there. Most players give up along the way because they don’t have the patience of dedication it takes.

And that’s exactly what everyone does. They finish the three gifts and then are stuck with no precursor do to either blowing all their money on expensive mats or simply not having the time or the means to grind out hundreds upon hundreds of gold, when the prices are rising by the day anyway, or having to rely on some of the most rubbish RNG some gamers have ever seen in MMOs. That’s what this thread is has been about in its entirety, trash RNG and explosive price increases, not how hard or time consuming it is to get everything else.

Getting the most important piece of a legendary, the precursor, should not in any way be based on complete, total, blind luck. Don’t bother with the buy option either. The standard player couldn’t afford one when they were 700g, to say nothing about now when most are at or above 1000.

You really have to play the sliders well with the human male faces especially. Pretty much all of them have a babyface to start, but can be made to look much better with the slider work. I know the first character I made I wanted a seasoned, older warrior look, My first attempt looked like a gray haired, full beard 20 year old. It was terrible.

GW2: a 2-Handed Axe away from being the best

Pretty sure it’s been stated that they plan on adding some more weapons to each class, but I’m too lazy to look for it. I think melee staff would be sweet for warriors or someone. I’d go Donatello on a kitten with one xD.

The great solution for zerging and stacking

Zergers gonna zerg, stackers gonna stack. No way around it. Not game breaking either. Some people want to stack. I don’t understand why people complain so much about stuff like this. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t. Stop trying to get rid of it for people who do. Make your own PvE groups specifically stating “no stacking” and people who don’t want to stack will join. It’s like magic.

Annoying NPC Comments???

Things I remember:

In LA:
“Can you point me to the outhouses?”
“We don’t HAVE outhouses, we have water closets.” (or something like that)

In DR: On the main road walking in more towards the profession area, there’s one male NPC who is just constantly laughing. It’s kind of funny actually but gets old.

Also my personal favorite, I overheard a Charr in Black Citadel once saying “It’s never a good day until you KILL somebody.”

What sets the Gold->Gems price?

I remember the good old days. I got a total makeover kit, 350 gems, for 6g. I forget when those came out. Anyway, after deals like that it’s tough to convert to gems anymore. I’ll spend real money when I feel like something is really sweet, and don’t mind supporting the game here and there, but gold->gem exchange is just a disaster anymore. But that benefits Anet in the end, doesn’t it xD.

Transmutation Charges: Why This System?

I haven’t leveled anything in a long while and I just decided to get back on my level 30 Ele and it hit me. I’m not going to be able to change my outfit like I was used to when leveling to look how I want do to the new system. Back when I had 230 regular transmutation stones it was “LoL who cares” and I’d change my look dozens and dozens of times while leveling. Despite having over 70 charges, I don’t feel like using the majority of them on one character while leveling. A definite downside to an otherwise great idea in the wardrobe system.

It’s not so bad anymore. Not a huge fan of megaserver, but it’s nice that CoF is almost always open for me now xD. On my server it was previously NEVER open. Like, ever.

Come on now ya’ll, the dude’s name is “Teste.” Why are you all acknowledging such an obvious troll attempt on a completely ridiculous request that Anet will never implement?

"Traditional" Questing

That was the appeal of GW2 over other traditional MMOs. No “go out and collect 20 of this and bring it back” quests etc. Also they didn’t want the trinity in this game. To an extent it worked, but I secretly miss the trinity sometimes in this game. It’s basically a dps based zerging anymore. Of course, used properly, the support builds can be very helpful, but in most PvE going anything than mostly attack/dps based stats ends up being a punishment. I don’t miss he quest grind and gear progression grind of other games, but I do miss being a dedicated healer sometimes v_v.

Guess what? Yet another Key sale.

These sales are traps. I’m done buying keys. The good stuff is way to rare and I’m sick of getting nothing but worthless boosters and repair canisters.

beleive us it is not and you are a lucky man not to see it.
if that is the coolest part of GW2, A-Net is in trouble

That’s a rubbish response if I’ve ever seen one. Plenty of people enjoyed the LS. Was it stellar in all regards? Of course not. Thanks for speaking on everyone’s behalf.
