Let’s not forget that rares yield less than a 1% chance to get a precursor. It’s like 0.3% ‘ish right? 0.3% is rubbish odds, period. It’s not unlikely it would take thousands of attempts. I just wish exotics were more than 1%.

People don’t complain about Gift of Fortune because they know one day they will complete it. They’ll gather the mats, buy when they can, or get them from friends (I have no interest in getting a legendary, so I give all the T6 I get to my friend who wants one). Bottom line is someday, the Gift WILL be done and there is no RNG about it (other than drops). Getting the precursor involves nightmarish RNG, plain and simple. It’s either take you chances with absolute fudge RNG, some of the worst I’ve seen in gaming, or shell out the big bucks (going higher by the day) on top of trying to get Gift of Fortune done.

I remember before the initial nerf when they dropped a lot they were 2-3 silver each. Those were the good old days, where you could start a new character and buy 10-15 UIDs to start them off without spending anything. Then the first nerf came and suddenly they skyrocketed to 20+ and never looked back. I’m sitting on about 400 myself right now, mostly from the refund and I bought out 100 or so. Going to have to decide when to dump them.

Anet will have it’s own list of things to launch when China is settled, precursors aren’t on that list. Yes I agree, their priorities are screwed.

In the update review they added ascended weaponsmith they said during this next year they’ll be adding the option to craft precursors.

Crafting precursors? We’ve heard that one before, as well as a scavenger hunt. Crafting will be nice, but you know the mats are going to be butt. There will be major time gates no doubt, but also almost definitely require ascended level crafting, which isn’t exactly easy or cost effective for a standard player.

An End to the Queensdale Train

The main reason people champ train in Weeniedale is not because it’s a starting area, not because it drops t6 resources, not because it drops 5s a champ bag, but because it’s fast. 4 champs in 10 minutes. It’s hard to beat that sort of speed and still be efficient.

SE Path 1, 5 champs in about 5 minutes. Over twice as effective as any train there is.

Not everyone wants to go through the hassle of finding a dungeon group.

The train is fine. Leave it alone.

There is absolutely no hassle at all in finding a dungeon group. Check and see if there are any groups doing the path you want. If there is, join. If not, start one. Simple.

My only problem is groups thinking they need to stack on everything. I’ve joined some groups lately on easy fights, or even moderate fights that don’t require stacking, where people all stacked somewhere and I was like “why are we stacking on this fight?” An example is the Nightmare Tree. I have ‘never’ stacked on that until last night, and I said screw it because I was using a shortbow and was having obstructed and out of range problems. Much more enjoyable once I broke stack, and two other players followed suit.

RNG And Precursor Drops

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Woljnir.7810

RNG is a disastrous way to get a precursor. The current state and prices of precursors more than prove that. They should add to personal story. That was such a big selling point to the game, and nobody cares or even hardly remembers it once it’s done. Make another one as an add on available that upon completion grants a precursor of choice, which players can do what they want with (sell or create). That way everyone can truly get one if they want and can actually make their legendary after the mat grind if complete.

It’s gotten exponentially worse, and the longer it goes the worse it will be for Anet to fix, if they even can. Prices are going up every hour, making it thoroughly, totally, completely, and any other word you want to use, impossible for the standard player to buy. People couldn’t afford them when they were 600-700g, now most of them have breached 1000. This is positively ludicrous. This system simply doesn’t work. It’s time somebody in charge does something about it. I don’t even want a legendary and it upsets me seeing players not being able to complete their legendary for months or longer after completing everything else just because they can’t get a precursor.

Arenanet, dyes, laurels, why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

Problem with dyes is it’s going to be awhile for them to dry up and start going back up in price, but when/if they ever do, there’s hundreds of players all thinking the same thing and sitting on tens of thousands (as said above) of UID’s combined, which will re-flood the market. On paper it sounds like a great investment to buy cheap now and wait for them to go back up now that they no longer drop. It’s just everyone else is thinking the same thing and it’s going to be a kitten long time before the dyes get anywhere near super profitable.

Lots of stealth opportunities so you can /wave at the opposing zerg running by. Roaming and being a pain in the kitten is what I live for in WvW on my Thief. Ambushing and disappearing even without getting a kill to troll people is fun, and it always brings the tears on the Thief forum xD

Yes, it is free to play. First of all, come off it. Of course you need to buy a copy of the game. And the Gem store is simply for convenience or vanity. Nothing obtained from it gives anyone a specific advantage over anyone else. You buying stuff from it isn’t ANet’s fault. They need to make some money some how. Even then one can trade gold for gems, so they still wouldn’t need to spend real money. This game does not require a monthly subscription, quite unheard of for an MMO that is even halfway decent. Therefore, minus the completely, totally, and the otherwise painfully obvious original purchase price, one does not need to spend an additional dime to play this game and experience everything they want to.

Been a problem for a long time and no hint of any fix. Completely screws players out of chests and rewards. All you can do is if you’re familiar with the boss, go to where the chest he drops shows up when he’s almost dead. For the daily you’re probably out of luck. Sucks doesn’kitten I’ve lost a few myself.

We’ve been asking for a long kitten time to drop the instance owning to a single player. It’s pretty stupid that when that person leaves it boots everyone. Not just with chests, I’ve been in plenty of groups doing fine and the opener up and leaves for no reason, booting everyone.

Getting all the materials required for a legendary is intense. The super rich can just buy them, and some of them actually need to be bought anyway, but the standard player is just going to have to grind the regular mats out. Because that is no small task, it would be nice if players had some way to get a guaranteed precursor of their choice, which they can do whatever they want with (sell or create). This could be an add-on to Personal Story or even a reward for completing it all (one pre/account) or some kind of quest or long event chain. That way anyone who wants a legendary can truly get one. This RNG is a disaster, and the average player isn’t going to be able to get enough money to buy it with prices like they are.

Prices are definitely down. I’ve seen them around 21s, but they were predicted to be down to like 5. What do you economists make of this? It seems to me that they are going to steadily go up, probably after a few months once the influx begins to dwindle. Invest a chunk of gold and pick some up now? Now that they are 1 for 5 laurels, it’s definitely no longer attractive to use laurels to get dyes so it seems like demand will begin to increase. I’m not getting my hopes up, but some people were talking on my server chat about them reaching close to a gold each some time down the line.

They’re favorite playstyle is now gone, I think they should be allowed to whine about it. Just like other things people are whining about. Patch is great overall, but it’s preposterously far from perfect. It seems like ANet really didn’t think out some of these changes very much.

This really sucks. People don’t like being forced into anything. This game has some great play modes in WvW and sPvP as well as PvE content, and ANet is simply forcing people to try them. What are they, our parents? My parents always forced me to try new things. Let me tell, I have ZERO interest in sPvP. Positively NONE. I do enjoy WvW from time to time when guildmates are online to play with, but otherwise I enjoy mostly PvE. Adding PvP dailies to taking away the PvE ones like they did does nothing whatsoever for me. I still will not play PvP. Period. It would be nice if people in charge would realize that, yes, WvW and PvP can be fun and a lot of work went into creating them, but if someone isn’t interested, then they aren’t interested. Attempting to coerce them into doing it by combining the dailies doesn’t help a thing. People still aren’t going to play what they don’t want too, and all it does is make it a massive inconvenience. The only reason some people have even seen WvW is because it’s required for 100% map. I haven’t set foot in sPvP, and never will. And why might that be? Because I have no interest whatsoever in it, so combining it with PvE is unsettling and disappointing. Massively.

Will the dye market recover do you think?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Obviously there is the foretelling and expected influx of UI dyes after the patch, in which thousands of dyes are projected to flood the TP and drive prices into the ground for the UI dyes. But after that is over and the market steadies out, will prices go up again? I mean weeks or months later. I’m not getting my hopes up about striking it rich or anything, but with UI dyes only being available from laurels at best, it seems the UI market won’t be as dead as a lot of people think it will be. Maybe some gold can be made buying when prices are super low.

Just make another character, you can level a toon in a week, hell, a weekend.

Meh. Leveling is way easier than in WoW, but it’s still not as easy as you make it out to be for everyone else. Some people just don’t have the play time to re-level, or don’t want to have to worry about map completion again. Sure, right now the only option is to re-level, but people would still like to see race change. There are ways it could be done and still work.

This will sound terrible and will bring out the legions, but I think completing the meta for the LS should reward a player with a weapon skin of their choice from the entire event. One skin out of all the ones we’ve had. Anybody worried about the economy it would recover. I bet more people would use their freebie on an actual weapon than sell it anyway. So many great skins out there that only the super lucky or super rich can get.

How is this “terrible” ? This was standard practice in GW1. The lack of good rewards for completing story content is quite apparent in GW2. I think the only time they got it right was the original Karka queen event, where the fight felt epic (if you managed to get in without DC’ing, that is) and the rewards were fitting. But what do you get for killing the main villain responsible for a year of torment? Greens, blues and one rare. The same as doing a world boss event which repeats every two hours.

I’m not asking for a legendary weapon to drop, but something a bit more memorable and epic would’ve been nice. Scarlet’s 20 slot bag for everyone? One Scarlet themed weapon skin?

I wasn’t sure how people would take it, mainly because of economic factors involved in getting a free skin and selling it for hundreds of gold, driving prices way down. Guess I was a little conservative xD.

I completed all the platform regulators and dodged all the attacks in each lane, but because other platforms failed, I missed out on 3 lanes/regulator/dodge achievements. Just have to accept it for what it is, either not so good implementation or straight up bad players (people who just lay there dead, get hit by the major AOE every time, continue to use conditions when they’re obviously being reflected, stuff like that) and move on

I’ll preface by saying I’m not trying to sound elitist by this. I understand players all come with different skill levels and that’s fine. But trying to get the spider achievement has been disastrous to the point of frustrating. People simply cannot seem to kill the cocoons or they don’t range the spider or straight up don’t listen to people trying to give tips. It’s all just zerg zerg zerg the boss like the achievement is just to kill it. I know, some people could give a kitten about achievements. It’s just the fact that the concept is so simple and we’ve done it before with Tower of Nightmare in Kessex Hills. We wait an hour or so for the thing to spawn, and someone runs right up to it alone rather than group up away from it, gets cocooned, and the achievement is gone in 5 seconds. I know there are more severe problems right now with achievements, but I can’t believe how badly the spider achievement has gone for me xD.

Official policy on selling paths?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

It’s allowed, and you can see the FAQ for the link, but it has the same safety from scamming as trading items off the TP does. You can do it, but if you’re scammed it’s not anet’s problem.

You can buy/sell paths as long as no exploits occurred, and you didn’t kick people to sell their spots, etc.

That’s what kind of bugs me about this game. I know this game isn’t WoW, but they didn’t penalize players for trading between each other to avoid tax (as far as I know anyway). Mat or gold theft/scamming between players was reportable. The two players verbal agreement was checked in the chat logs, and if the person bailed after receiving mats or gold, they were penalized and the player got their stuff back. I know that would make extra work for Anet with log checking etc, but like all other reports, false accusations were met with stiff penalties. I just feel like it’s not right in this game that people can just rip each other off like that. Sometimes it’s nice to just give someone else all the mats to make something you can’t, especially if it’s expensive to buy. Granted dungeon selling is a gray area, but if ANet says it’s ok, it should be protected as well.

No Achieves Because Other Players Are Bad...

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

Sports teams are made up of people who know each other and learn to work together, and a good player in a bad team has the choice to look for a team that matches his skill level. GW2 matches you with randoms so the analogy doesn’t hold up.

That’s exactly what ANet has asked of its players and what people should be doing right now: learning to work together. Instead of asking for more individual rewards for group content, maybe people should be trying to coordinate better. Instead of telling players how bad they are and expecting to lose, how about encouraging them. Instead of telling people to just go look it up, maybe explain the fight and what people should do before and during the fight. My server, GoM just got our second marionette kill tonight with zero chain fails. It took us a few days, but more and more we’re getting there.

That doesn’t help though when people don’t listen. There’s always been at least one person in map chat explaining everything for every marionette I’ve done. Some people just can’t follow directions. We beat our mine warden and I look at the other platforms and nobody is kiting him to his mines. Attack the shield warden from behind we say, and at least one platform is doing nothing of the sort. Dodge out of the orange, yet people don’t budge and get hit every time by the marionette’s attack.

They want 5 different, randomly selected groups of people to be able to coordinate and achieve something. Great on paper, but most people can tell you just getting ONE group of 5 random people to be able to coordinate can be hard enough. There are people who play this game who honestly have no idea what they’re doing in these events, explanation or not. And that one person can ruin the entire operation, and that’s what’s happening here. Nobody feels entitled to anything. We killed the warden and the regulator, we want the achievement. Having to hope 4 other platforms don’t fudge it up is too much to ask.

It’s not going to be around forever, and not getting achievements ultimately because other people makes people mad. Players all have different skill level. It’s not about the noobs. It’s about not getting credit for what we do. I should have 3/5 wardens killed and 3/5 dodging achievements. I’m stuck at 1/5 for both essentially because of other people. That’s not fair for content that is limited availability. I will have the meta shortly, but it’s just upsetting/annoying knowing I’ve done what I was supposed to do and won’t be getting credit for it. Those are AP I should have.

Are the lanes correct in those pictures? I was in what is supposedly Lane 4 according to the picture, thinking I was in Lane 2 and we had the Warden II, the mine dropping and spinning and it appeared to be the kick move.

This happened because your lane 2 and 3 failed so you are lane 4 got chain 2.

The chart is ORDERED BY CHAIN. By default each lane is matched to a chain (i.e. chain 1 is assigned to lane 1 etc) but if that lane fails to complete their phase 2 successfully and sever their chain, their chain gets passed down to the next lane and so on until a lane is able to complete it. So you must keep track of who failed to sever their chain and which lane is doing which chain.

I see. Now does that explain why I didn’t get the kick achievement then, since that wasn’t my original lane, or was it because we failed the event overall. We killed the regulator and then the switch I guess before time ran out but didn’t get the kick achievement I thought I was going for.

They’re whining because they choose not to partake in one aspect of this game, but are still being flooded with items from it. They could at least be sellable to the vendors. A lot of people are holding out, because if they do finally destroy the lot and then ANet makes them at least sellable to a vendor, they’ve then suffered a potentially major financial loss. I’d just be happy being able to give them to somebody who will use them.

This is depressing. The tickets are just too hard to get. With how rare even scraps appear to be, it’d be really nice if they were actually a claim ticket. It only takes one to turn it in for a skin. It’s not like they drop like candy and it would ruin the economy or anything.
