Guys not to be insulting but it doesn’t seem at all like any of you are considering balance with this.
Rangers can swap between dead pets already so I’m guessing you want it to cycle through all the pets or something, because I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. This would not be helpful because you would end up getting a pet you don’t want.
If rangers could swap pets whenever then they would abuse that to the max. They could just keep swapping for quickness or have unlimited pets that can tank anything. With a cooldown there would be no change so if you can please elaborate a little more on your idea that would help me better understand.
Having multiple pets out at once would have too much dps and could require a lot more management which a lot of players might have trouble with. The boon pet could be cool just not sure why it’d be needed, the boon would also need to be something that doesn’t make the ranger OP (which would be pretty difficult).
Pet armor could work if pets first were debuffed but would be best suited imo simply for AR for balance.

Pets actually aren’t too bad most of the problems stem from them dying to high dmg non-aoe attacks, or aoe projectiles that often require dodging to dodge (also and agony).
Having pets run out of aoe circles would not fix the aoe projectiles as the dmg happens too fast, having pets flank the opponent could work on non-aoe dmg but could be OP in pvp.
I do wish I could have an option to set my pet on a mode (not guard or avoid combat that would prevent it from running into aoe so I don’t have to macro as much)
Edit: Having pets dodge would only create more problems and is not a good idea.

Ranger is fine. A lot of the arguments I see on this forum are unjustified but oppositely a lot of them are. Ranger has good dps, can preform in pvp, plus the pet can work well, but dies easy in certain boss encounters. The pets have very limited AI so learning to manage them is pretty essential.
Never played engineer so can’t offer any advice.
Yeah I really wish a lot of the dungeons had more mechanics implemented (or get revamped) as it is most enemies I can learn how to beat solo (or exploit them) which isn’t too hard considering most of the AI is the same. However I am not a fan of the CM rocket trap hallway where you have to reflect rockets, that is not fun nor does it take any thinking.
I don’t understand why people are always complaining about dungeon difficulty as I’ve yet to come across a dungeon that someone didn’t know how to beat before entering or a couple retries couldn’t fix.
I hate how easy CoF P1 is.
Well the boss’ web shooting attack can’t hit you from what seems like 600+ away and the circles always are shot where you’re standing so if you can just keep putting the circles where you want (closer to the boss) and have good heals the boss can be ranged pretty easily. This is more of a solo thing as I only really do it after my team wipes.
For the adds just obstruct yourself and ranged enemies always run up to you. This allows you to use melee or aoe skills to effectively kill them all at once. This is less effective now with the buff to the spiders but it still works with enough dps.
Edit: Forgot to mention the boss no longer moves around anymore unless its attacks are obstructed so use that to your advantage

I honestly am not sure what you’re asking or talking about. I liked GW1 graphics but thats just me. “Char.” I assume is a typo and you meant “Charr” and that was not a world war. It affected ascalon as far as your character was concerned and not much more. It was also 4 missions out of 25 which is less than 1/6 of the game. The in game missions never really focused on the centaurs as much as the humans or charr so even though they are in missions they are ignored.
There are plenty of centaur in GW1 they are in the maguuma jungle, the shiverpeaks, and in elona so while the humans were brutish jerks the centaurs were always around and still had land. Just were often slaughtered and enslaved without second thought.
I have had this problem myself the fix for it is to dye every piece of armor a color you have unlocked on every slot. You cannot leave any color a default color when trying to dye armor because you don’t have it.
I don’t remember their ever being a good swordsman in GW, the more powerful beings always seemed to be the ones who could use magic. GW2 changed this by implementing more powerful swordsmen but as a whole there is no swordsman in GW that would really make me stop and stare in awe at their skill.
Shiro was good but he was also a user of magic just not to the point where it made him seem like less of a swordsman. Unfortunately because he is soloable so I can’t give him the trophy.
If I had to give it somebody it’d have to be rurik simply because he was able first to use 100b as much as I despise him.
I feel like instead of having mini chest at the end of the dungeon (or nothing at all), killing trash mobs and intermediate bosses could add to a chest at the end gaining you more loot or a higher chance at top tier items. This could create an incentive to kill trash mobs normally skipped and bosses too while not forcing players to compremise if they don’t want to.
I also think it would be nice if dungeon weapons had a chance of dropping in the dungeons.

Personally I love all the cries for help from the ranger community and the class being ignored (I even cried for help too). It’s one of the few things I enjoy reading on the forum. Although I’d still love for it to be fixed and I still play my ranger, I’m content with just laughing at other rangers’ desperation.
TBH we haven’t really been patiently waiting but yeah I know what you mean.
Rune of the vampire can trigger mist form while down which only interrupts the player and is in no way helpful so it should be removed.
I think they just liked drawing cool concept art to try and get people interested. I try not to put too much thought into the art because I always end up questioning every single load screen.

Are ascended items allowed in pvp (any form) and if so why?
Personally I feel having points in BM is pretty essential if not just for the quickness on pet change, but it’s your build and you can do what you want. Also I’ve never used the torch but some say it’s viable so I won’t knock it, however I think you could swap the axe/dag for something else (not sword in dungeons/fractals sword is broke) but thats just because the axe is partially balanced around it being able to hit multiple targets so it has less dps.
Just note you should play how you want but I do feel rangers can be a little limited in builds.
I know there’s some great features we are all hoping for but as we can see pet icons are more pressing so please change the rainbow jellyfish icon.
Also on a side note I was talking to my friend Roy G. Biv. and he said the jelly is missing about 5 colours or something but what does he know.

The gods left before the dragons awoke.
They left after abbadon was imprisoned and after he was defeated. Abaddon was the only one who could make the gods do anything apparently so until he comes back they be gone.
Also what did the gods do in gw1 that makes their slience even matter? The only time they directly (from a point of view) intervened was in NF and just to give one person a gift. In addition they let us come into the uw and fow and pilage thier goods/help them with stuff I would presume they could cleanup themselves.
I don’t think it’ll work well in practice.
If they gave us the ability to explicitly Flag pets ala gw1 the whole issue would be removed or at least significantly reduced.
“Guard!” doesn’t even work well enough.
Flagging would not remove the issue. Pets can already be recalled and in pve that would probably serve the same purpose assuming you are ranged. If you are melee obviously flagging would be essential. Guard for me at least is not very useful in pve and guard is probably there instead of flagging to not make pets op.

So I had suggested this in another thread but I’d like to hear some feedback on this.
ATM pets have two different states: avoid combat and guard. My suggestion is to give them a third state, which will be more of a middle ground and helps to not reduce dps where not needed. I don’t have a name for this state but what I think it should do is…

Ok anyways what I actually think it should do is allow pets to avoid aoe circles on their own. There have been some other suggestions such as dodging with the player and having it built directly into the AI but I that can work as more of a nerf in pvp where aoe doesn’t always do 1 hit kills or incredibly fast kills. Plus dodging also leads to a loss in dps when you have no need for the pet to dodge. This new state is intended more so for pve as you can probably tell.
Also just to let you know this is not intended to ignore things like kholers pull or longer attacks such as 100b just aoe.
However I would also think it helpful to make your pet flank your opponent (Possibly on a 3 second timer) but I think this could be a little OP in pvp so not sure about that.
Traits:
Signet of the beastmaster makes no sense if you assume it works on signet of renewal.
Weapons:
-GS swoop still does less dmg than maul even though it says it does more.
-Warhorn hunter’s call can be obstructed which doesn’t really make any sense because I can’t see myself shoot anything.
-RaO does not state it only works with the current pet in the description it only mentions “your pet” as such I can’t tell if it’s working as intended although it might be.
Theres a bunch of text related problems in the traits with the extent of their effects being unlisted or not fleshed out.

Well the entire video is just a matix reloaded reference if I was trying to make an actual point I’d say: pets are not at all treated like part of the player and are partially handicapped. Pets only have two settings “avoid combat” and the other one (forgot the name) they could implement more settings such as one that makes it avoid aoe and only attack based on certain conditions. This would reduce pet dps while not forcing rangers to try and macro their pet which distracts them.
Also pets should have more ways to be macroed (yeah I know I just talked about less macro) to allow rangers to direct them to a target while avoiding aoe (such as drawing a path). Pets shouldn’t be a one-trick-pony.

Why are you asking, why not try the class? It is fun and I do enjoy it even though I won’t play it as much as some of my other characters. If you’ve played it and other classes it’s pretty easy to see differences/strengths/weaknesses.

I have been reading some of the posts on this forum and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t laughing like crazy but I think I have one last suggestion that can fix everything.
We declare rangers bugged.
Now I know what you’re thinking but if you check the bug section there are a lot more replies from moderators and staff showing that the section is recieving more attention. Now what would we use to say it’s bugged just watch this video. In CM my ranger keeps teleporting when trying to go to the balcony but the pet can and we should have the class redesigned in order to fix it.

Happens to me too not sure what the patch did to cause it though. Also happens with gravelings.

They should go through some of those long rants because some contain more detailed information and ideas pertaining to helping the class. Videos should not be required otherwise why make a forum in the first place?
I did cof p1 maybe 2 or 3 times and I know for sure there is nothing easier than it in the game. As such I can’t see why they upped the difficulty (from a point of view mostly due to fps drops) of AC which is intended for lower levels when CoF is so danged easy yet gives berserker gear. I don’t want AC to be made easier but why is CoF so dang easy compared to everything else.

Also due to the lag I can’t properly protect hodgins who already just stands there because enemies dont render in normally. In addition some enemies when I try to attack them when they are attacking hodgins are just invulnerable for no reason.
Please allow hodgins to at least attack/bubble-push to proctect himself as he isn’t doing anything and I cant stop enemies I can’t hit or see.
Jormag didn’t make water (and you weren’t asking that – you simply said “No it’s not” to me saying expecting a shattered mountain to mend with Jormag’s death is the same as expecting Orr to sink with Zhaitan’s). Jormag shattered the mountain range and the valleys/canyons/crevices that were created flooded with the arctic sea’s ocean.
You still have not explained how they are the same or how your analogy made sense. Making a land mass float is not the same as w/e you’re saying Jormag did. Thats all I was commenting on with ‘No it’s not" so if you planned to reply to that I was asking how is expecting them both to be repaired the same.

I was referring to the post you made with my response @Konig but like I said nevermind. All I was asking for was how is making water the same as changing the buoyancy of an entire land mass. It’s like saying expecting a rock to sink thats skipping on water is the same as expecting a lake to dissapear in the middle of winter.
Not to mention the fact that raising an entire mass of land did not cause the water levels to drop. It seemingly made them increase which makes a whole lotta sense.

@WonderfulCT: I doubt Orr will fall – Zhaitan rose Orr when he woke up, but nothing really claims he was keeping it up. It’d be like saying that once Jormag dies the Shiverpeak Mountains will somehow mend itself and that inland sea will disappear.

Well I would expect orr to fall back in the ocean (like angel island) without Zaitan’s power cause he kinda caused it rise, but you know that won’t happen so w/e.

As far as I can tell nothing significant happened to the mursatt that would make me say its impossible for them to return. In the last mission of WiK the enemy comes to the player so it would be fair to assume that some stayed back or weren’t even involved.
There are also a few remnants of mursatt related things in GW2 and also references.
Plus I do remember reading that A-Net had planned not to bring them back, but due to popular demand they might put them back in or do things related to them (this was before the release of GW2 though)
Still can’t edit on the forums for some reason, not sure why this keeps happening.
Just looking at the gameplay none of this is true yet all of it is true as a character from any campaign is still able to complete all 3 plus the expansion so theorectically the canthans (assassins forever : P) could be the ones who did all of it.
Again looking at the gameplay since you guys want to talk about the mantle the reason I said they are a joke is cause in the personal story they are the weakest enemies I’ve ever fought. Four warriors and one mes could literally kill thousands of them if they’re just regular enemies so they’re a joke.
Mmm I thought it over and theres nothing wrong with adding a new ranged weapon and crossbows would be pretty fitting as an alternate to whats already here. I’m trying to be more open to things : P
