I honestly have barely felt any change from this “nerf” I can can still burst and down squishier players instantly without haste and more balanced players sometimes depending on how well I play.
(edited by WonderfulCT.6278)
This dungeon seems to give me mixed opinions.
Keep in mind I never finished it. I got up to the slaves solo then when I couldn’ free them by simply interacting with them I got fed up and left.
The drill part is cool but new mobs would be more interesting.
There was no story to speak of and the tone (and atmosphere) is messed up. I have no idea where the place is supposed to be. Is it an ice cavern? Is it a volcano? Is it a cave?
Remove the cave trolls please. They can’t hit anything with or without dodging and I killed the champion melee without any thought.
The weapon testing part was cool for a first time but on repeat would likely pose 0 threat. Which was reduced from a 1% threat level. I soloed it without dying. The mobs on 100% and 75% never agroed me. The weapons being tested do too little damage and the tornado aoe at that part is too small.
Another complaint I have is that in the cutscene it says hes testing a weapon on that unsuspecting (Naw he knew he was gonna die) person who has a wieght dropped on him. Now if this wieght is used to create a shockwave how did they test it by dropping it directly on him?
I agree with Wethospu regarding mobs random agro. They might come together, or they might come separate it depends on how they feel. They might just chase you for no reason.
Also when you finish the part at the weapons test area and the boss comes down is that supposed to be some kind of joke or an insult towards the dungeon team for actually having bosses?
I can’t really tell what you intended to showcase with that video, but I do have a few suggestions.
The players you were playing against seemed unskilled to the point where you might have been able to get away with using p/p just to get the dps increase from unload.
You should try getting into melee weapons. D/d is good for high dps and S/d is fun to annoy people with.
You could probably have just walked up and CnD+backstabbed the people in the video they weren’t the greatest.
Also I don’t really recommend dagger storm or the other one (forgot the name) over basilisk venom if you do choose to go melee. The skills are too easy to counter. Too many times I’ve heartseekered into someone and downed them while they use dagger storm.
I’m crying tears of joy right now.
Since I first started using the forums and since I first figured out how to add a signurature I’ve been asking for this to be fixed.
Thank you, for this I will never make another complaint towards rangers ever again.
Edit: regarding the new look as long as it has at least 5 colours involved I’m sure I’ll love it.
Remember graveling scavengers before the patch? Well lets just say stun breakers couldn’t always save you.
Ever get kd’ed by a silver ranked graveling post patch? Notice how it is a one hit kd?
There was a huge nerf regarding kd and cheap deaths, and the current mobs that kd players are pretty easily dodged. In addition one stun breaker is able to get you up without the same graveling knocking you back down.
There’s a conversation about this in LA between some guy and an asura, so yeah I think it’s safe to assume that tyrians do have restrooms.
If you are wondering why you don’t visually see one somewhere, then I can’t really help you there.
I like the idea of more intricate dungeons but I don’t think it makes for a particularily good enviroment in a team.
This would be better solo or in a group of 2.
I also recieve an fps drop in this fractal.
I have no idea what is there to cause it but it appears to clear up when I get to the jade maw.
I am doubtful this will be changed but I am hopeful as this is one of the few things in game that causes noticeable fps drops.
I just need to say it cause it doesn’t look like anyone else is going to.
If you enter with less than the maximum number of players allowed you are gambling on the remaining players; having no idea how skilled they will be. This is a guarantee. As such it is fair if you lose to the opposing team regardless of if their team is premade or not as that is the current system. You cannot say this system is broken unless you have proof this not how it’s supposed to function.
Now it is your responibility to ensure your success with the game as it currently is, provided that no foul play (this does not include your teammates throwing the game) takes place. This means that if you are facing premade teams that beat you because the players that are given to you are not up to your standards, you should make your own teams to counter it.
This is a fair system put in place to give players equal opportunity.
Now if you change this to a suggestion instead of a requirement then I think they might actually consider it.
Good suggestion.
I think it would be more beneficial to replace Headshot instead of body shot with the evasive skill in order to not conflict with the evasion gained from the P/D dual skill.
The skill name would be backfire. The way I propose the skill should work is by shooting out a small smokey cloud and evading backward as if the gun backfired. This could be a leap finisher, or possibly just blind the target.
Also I think adding something extra to unload or reducing the initiative cost by one would be helpful. Adding vulnerability (as suggested) could work, but also as an alternative: the last shot could light the target on fire (I’m not in favor of this), or something such as a one second immobolize or cripple.
Also just buffing the auto attack slightly could suffice.
I don’t want to go into too much detail incase it helps anyone exploit the game, but there are certain conditions that if met will allow you to kill the HK unscathed.
If these conditions aren’t met certain people will get invul, and if they are certain people won’t.
Most boss exploits I find are easier to do solo so if you can get a team to get you there and just mess around with the boss you could probably figure it out.
What the wiki has to say .
I don’t think it’s worth putting too much thought into, they sort of remind me of the vita chambers from bioshock (assuming you’ve played the game) where even one of the most brilliant scientist didn’t understand how it worked.
Why is this such an issue with people?
How do any of the other classes make more sense to people (Even ranger doesn’t make sense to me)?
How do people accept cats with poseable thumbs running on two legs swinging swords?
How do people accept that there is a species of plant that can trap and consume animals (venus fly trap) when most other plants don’t.
How is one tree running with guns, turrets, flamthrowers, gernades, etc so much worse than the one using rifles, greatswords, banners and lets not forget axes (the immortal enemy of the tree).

The deep and urgoz warren weren’t 8 man QQ.
Ok so I think I may have a different experience with pets, having faced rangers more often than playing one.
-Pets will not (frequently) hit players that understand how to kite mobs.
-Melee pets are too easily kited around without taking hits.
-Mid ranged (300-900) players always beats rangers ranged due to pets not hitting.
-Ranged pets have too large an arc to hit players.
-Players can run away from pets before their F2 skills have a chance to go off.
-Pets cannot tank at melee range in pvp unless in a zerg where players are not easily able to directly attack the ranger.
Therefore what I’m saying is from my experience pet choice often seems meaningless as the battle will take place between the two players and the pet is not too far off of being a bystander.
Pet in both pve and pvp while still retaining the same degree of usefulness (or at least close)?
Now I know rangers do still have their problems in dungeons but not to the point where I feel it’s embarassing if anything dies to them 1v1.
The point of discussion here is the pet and not the player since the player is capable of performing well regardless of if the pet performs as well. This does not mean that the player performing to the best of his/her abilities will get a player downed.
I’ve both played ranger and dueled rangers and can say from my own personal experiences that the pets is: not a threat, is very unlikely to hit the player, F2 skills take too long to cast, and it is usually a waste of time to kill it.
Essentially duels with rangers are something like 0.8v1 since the pet does not (usually) at all contribute positively.
Suggestions for pvp that I think may help with pets. (Just a heads up I have not thought them all through)
-Debuff pets damage and increase the rangers so that having a pet is not the reason for your low dps.
-Allows pets to be flagged similar to GW1 heroes. Also replace guard and sick em. Pets could be given a slight speed boost to allow them to be naturally faster than players (Capped at 40% increased speed).
-Allow players to go without their pets (Likely not a possibility).
-Allow pets to build frenzy that goes away when the player gets OOC (I considered allowing them to go berserk but no one really hits them anyways). Also I think they should build frenzy relatively slowly but enough that players consider killing them (Obviously if you’re facing a GC you would still kill the ranger 1st).
-Have melee pets cast their F2 skills faster, or if they actually are able to build frenzy have that be factored in.
-Instead of having spirits as a separate entity have them fuse with the pets. This could replace their F2 with that of the spirit while also giving the spirit higher survivability. May need to be limited to one at a time for balance.
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head but would like to hear opinions on this. If you think there is a way to keep both pve and pvp ranger pets the same and still be useful in pvp while not being too powerful in pve I would like to hear it.
Symbol of swiftness is designed in such a way to prevent stacking (I assume this was intended to prevent it from stacking with itself), so I don’t think that it will be fixed.
It is probably more beneficial to get in the habit of using the symbol first.
I believe you meant afflicted and I don’t think there is too high of a chance of fighting them or the margonites again, or it would raise some questions (possibly even confirm the theory of Kormir doing nothing).
Both should have been eradicated.
In particular the upgrade that gives the dolyaks guards.
The guards are not very useful and do not increase the survivability of the yak, nor do they deter players from yak slapping.
I think this upgrade should be replaced with either a speed upgrade or an upgrade to the yaks themselves.
This upgrade (to the yaks) could change them from regular mobs to vets or simply improve toughness and vitality.
edit: also immunity to immobolize, and/or stability could help.
(edited by WonderfulCT.6278)
Good suggestion.
Personally I used to think that rangers could be balanced with the same pet in both pve and pvp. I no longer think this is a possibility.
I don’t think rangers should be forced to have a pet in pvp with the exact same mechanics (and faults) as the one in pve.
The way I see it there are 2 options: allow the rangers to be without their pets in pvp; then be rebalanced with this in mind, or they completely redesign the pets AI; along with their attacks, attack speeds, run speed, survivability, pathing, etc. This would again just be for pvp.
I can’t see anyway the ranger can still function as is without a redesign in some way.
As long as I can opt out of being seen on the map I am for it.
Privacy is something sorely lacking on the internet these days.
There are so many counters for all skill 2s except ele (ele skill 2 is as annoying as a mosquito in the eye (why can mist form allow a player to enter a keep but thiefs skill 2 can’t)). The rest don’t really prolong death by much and are usually funny to watch because of how futile they are.
Like already mentioned the skills are there to give the player a chance of delaying their death and their teammates to come and assist them.
I have no idea what happens to you in pvp that annoys you so much, but the second skill should not be an issue. You should learn to be tolerant of it as your suggestion would not be a fair way to balance the skills.
I have to know firstly do you understand how pet mechanics work?
Next were playing or fighting rangers which prompted you to start this?
Swapping pets is typically not a threat because it is most effective to kill the ranger first unless the the pet is extremly squishy and you are not. Also with the quickness nerf swapping pets is even less threatening, plus pets can be pretty easily kited around.
I don’t think rangers need a nerf especially for their pets. Now if you could explain in greater depth why you feel this change is necessary it would help.
I don’t wvw too frequently but I have accumulated a few stacks of badges.
An issue I have is I don’t feel there is very much variety in the ways to spend them.
-I do not want a legendary.
-PVT gear is not very appealing to me.
-I can obtain siege weapons from the JPs so that is not an issue.
Simply allowing more stat combinations, ascended gear, consumables, and more armor/weapon skins (already ingame) would help me greatly in being able to spend my badges on things that I would find useful.
Just a fyi: you can change the ingame music and theres a thread somewhere in the music thread.
Audio thread* and here it is https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/A-guide-to-custom-playlists (Not an edit btw :P)
I wish to make a very high damage, glassy ranger to use with the newly buffed Maul.
Problem is, which setup would benefit me more? Full Ruby Orb or Rune of the Ranger? The latter obviously has more crit rate, but will I still deal more overall less damage? Or is the +165 precision with + 13% damage better than +6% dmg with +120 power and +84 precision?
I’m really confused which setup to use. Help me figure this out. Thanks!
Firstly why do you consider the damage gained from runes of the ranger to be 13% if you consider the ruby orbs to add 6% damage. Ruby orbs each add 2% crit damage and if you are adding crit damage as % increased you are inaccurate.
Someone who checked out how to obtain the highest dps says that power is greater than crit damage and as such concluded that max dps from runes would go in order of: 6 runes of the scholar, 5 runes of the mesmer and one ruby orb and lastly 6 ruby orbs. This is for any class, however I have yet to check if runes of the mesmer actually increase dps better than ruby orbs.
I’ll add the thread when I find it.
So to answer your question, the ruby orbs would increase your damage more than runes of the ranger.
Didn’t want to start a new thread for this.
The nearest target button never seems to target the nearest enemy and attempting to click on an enemy does not always work as intended, so if someone could please look in to this I would very much appreciate it.
Also the nearest target appears to depend on the direction the character is facing which imo should be irrelevent.
Not to be rude but how is this dungeon related?
If you simply want to advertise or gloat there are more appropriate sections.
I know any GC or BM ranger is a joke as the pet has virtually no chance of hitting the player in a duel and with the quickness nerf they don’t really have the dps to out burst other classes.
Please guys stop saying things like these,we will make devs angry and they will hatenerf us.We are probably one of the best (imo the best) in 1v1,especially with BM build where you can have high healing-defense and high dmg from your pet(yes sometimes it misses but lets be serious, not all the times for God sake)
The pet (typically) does not miss me, it does not get to the point where it can attack me.
They are as easy to kite around as npcs (I wonder why). They can probably be kited by simply running forward and backward.
They can’t hit to the point where it feels like they are an open world pve mob as opposed to a dungeon mob where evading attacks in melee range typically requires evasion.
Also I don’t play ranger very much which I hope was evident by what I posted.
It’s been said enough times.
The reason I feel rangers are free bags is because of the pet which seems to be the reason for their lower dps.
I know any GC or BM ranger is a joke as the pet has virtually no chance of hitting the player in a duel and with the quickness nerf they don’t really have the dps to out burst other classes.
As a thief the pet actually increases SB dps and makes it a viable weapon for good damage.
Firstly I don’t think the gods ever intended to kill other gods, as shown by the imprisonment of both Dhuum and Abaddon.
Abaddon was in a state where his hands and head were dismembered from his body and constant bombardment to his face would send him over the edge destroying him. I think it’s fair to assume any of the gods were capable of kicking him in the face until he died.
Dhuum was put to sleep and while sleeping could likely have also been assaulted and brought to the brink of exploding. So I don’t think it had anything to do with their power being too great, but more so the reasoning on why would it be worth destroying a god with no replacement or other reasonings.
I’m still of the opinion that if the gods were having any significant trouble they would just ask the PC to clean it up for them, so I doubt Grenth is really under any pressure.
Lore wise I think Abaddon would have been strongest in combat followed by Balthazar but there’s no adequate way of measuring the strength of each individual god.
If you are really doing this change the name, the reference is old and will cause the podcast to lose all credibility before it begins. :/
When was menzies ever a god?
Also I don’t think the gods are simply bound by the element(they all don’t have an element btw) they govern, which can be easily shown by how Abaddon was previously the god of water which was just given to lyssa. The element the gods govern seems to almost irrelevent, as the gods are capable of so much more.
Also the pairing you chose for the gods doesn’t make any sense based on multiple factors.
Also I’m quite sure the dragons were on Tyria first so them having any relation doesn’t really make any sense.
The gods weren’t even around before the dragons awoke this time, and I’m pretty sure it was called the silence of the gods (which is pretty much how it was in GW1, so there’s no difference imo).
I would go with all of them. I can’t see how one profession would win over another as he was capable of doing seeminly anything. He also should not be at all bound to one profession (imo) as that would be a limitation that he does not have. He encompasses all the professions
“I am matter…
I am antimatter…
I can see your past…
I can see your future…
I consume time…
and I will comsume you!” (Edit) -Not by Razah
Also you don’t consider Razah to be a person even after he tried so hard to fit in and find his own path? QQ
Idk I’m wondering how you recieve communication within FotM, also there is a mail service which appears to serve the purpose. However I do think it is a good question but I think that the dredge might be the most advanced in terms of sound technology.
Which one? Ilya, Lyss or both? :P
I honestly find it hard to care about anything that’s been gone that long and if they were having problems I’m sure they would have sent an avatar asking you to clean it up for them.
I am doubtful it’s true but nice job for catching it.
(edited by WonderfulCT.6278)
Can you rephrase the question? I thought dungeons were inanimate objects and even figuratively speaking the question doesn’t make much sense.
I’m not even sure why you’re asking this. If people find the new AC more difficult there are still enough dungeons for them to play that it shouldn’t affect them too much. People that feel they want a challenge or new experience can still play it. I can still find groups to do it when I choose to, and they will typically make it through all paths just fine.
Overall I don’t find the dungeon harder, in fact I find it easier but that’s just me.
I think the patch may have been made to prevent farming but I doubt it because CoF p1 is still the easiest in the game.
I am in the minority so you can probably disregard this comment :P
One thing you should note is that a lot of thieves would stealth+basilisk venom+haste+stealth kill players (in what seems like a second) which is harder to react to, although not impossible.
Short answer is that we don’t really know. The Mists are certainly a metaphysical boundary – you can access them from anywhere on Tyria if you know how, although it is easier in some places than others. However, Tyria is said to have been born from the Mists – it’s possible (especially since there are signs that the stars are in fact influenced by events on Tyria in a way that balls of fusing plasma situated light years away would not be) that the patch of space as we know it is only large enough to contain Tyria’s solar system and that before you go much further out the physical world ends and you find yourself in the Mists, kind of like the phlogiston of the old theories about crystal spheres.
The question was simply if they are equivalent and even through things you are speaking of you can see that they in fact are not. If you are saying “Tyria’s solar system” is not in the mists how can it be equal to outerspace?
The short answer is no but you can draw similarities between the two.

Tbh I still can’t see any reason the mursaat can’t return, the krytan civil war making them extinct would just be questionable.
Also Lazarus’ story is completly irrelevent to whether or not the race is extinct.
Questions that don’t seem to have a definitive answer: Do the mursaat reproduce like other species? Do the mursaat eat? Where do they live? How high can they fly or hover? Do they live in the jade see or where does all the jade come from? Do they only have one colony? Why do they all dress the same, have they no sense of individuality? What’s under the mask?
I’ll try a few methods and let you know if any work.
Edit: Consumable boulders dissapear. Shadow step can’t go through the door to the next area. The console cannot be used unless the two switches are pressed (as far as I can tell). Teleporting into the door to the next area kills the player, I actually found a way to teleport into the door and it kills you.

Do we REALLY need another post for Kormir bashing?
REALLY?
What do you mean? The OP asked a legitimate question and in the form of a question as allowed by the forum system.
Edit: Kormir sucks :P

(…)but I hate seeing staff guards that use the staff for more than swiftness or killing volitile blossoms.
That’s funny, because a good staff guardian can keep Warriors in combat, empower them and give them no single reason to get out of combat and swap to crap ranged weapons, allowing them to maintain the highest DPS possible.
To combat mobs individually: Now it depends on your class but snares are helpful, as are reflecting projectiles and blinds. For melee mobs if you cannot attack their back and if you don’t feel safe face tanking, kite them around with a ranged weapon and time your dodges.
Also make sure not to run backwards as it is slower than side stepping or running forward.
I also always use one range and one melee on war incase I get low on health.
I thought I would put my finger on the funny words, which can make a guardian laugh quite much.
~Bad Staff Guardian
Are you implying that empower is better than timewarp? :P
Nice job I might just give this a go myself although my dedication usually wanes after the first few deaths :P
Just note that if you d/c when you are the instance starter, your group will be kicked upon reconnecting.
Use stability.
I like the idea but I would still never make a legendary I would just sell the precursor. Takes too much time and effort for something I don’t care about.
Also I used my pact token :P
