Stealth isn’t a boon and regeneration doesn’t count because we’re talking exactly about it.
Got me on vigor. Forgot about it.
But still none of them really just reduce damage. They take full damage from every hit and they can’t do a thing about it unless they dodge/blind(like every other profession lol).

It pretty much benefits high toughness more than a specific profession. It still heals for the same amount on everyone. How they multiply that HP after they get it really depends on the build. Also thieves don’t really have defensive boons.

I don’t like thieves either but mentioning stealth and talking about thieves just because the OP is a thief is wrong. He’s obviously not defending his class/mechanic, he’s defending an idea.

I got a reason better than “but balance”. Ever thought what would happen if duels were made official? A bunch of qq posts would flood the forums about how imbalanced this game is for 1v1. Anet are just saving themselves from a huge headache. 1v1 the ability for eles to instakill/instadown people would be OP. Mesmers would be ridiculous. St unlock warriors would be just lolmode. At the same time those are relatively balanced in the rest of the game.

I really dislike the idea of counter classes. Counter specs(bunker>burst>condition>bunker for example) are better IMO. Just give every profession something different in those roles for variety.
BTW there’s a painfully obvious and easy(also VERY lazy) way of fixing dungeon groups. It has probably been mentioned already. Just giving every profession a different buff that they give to allies within X range would be enough to get some class variety instead of stacking 3 professions. However that’s the lazy WoWish way of fixing it and it could also cause more imbalance in PvP/WvW roaming.

Hey, we need to see how changes work on the whole game, right? Or did people already forget that modes such as WvW and PvE also need balancing?
Anyway, as someone already mentioned: regeneration, healing and boons are the way low-HP professions sustain themselves. Take that away from them and instead of 2 professions with a problem you have 3.

Might as well make it a % of your total health+healing power scaling. Then MAYBE low-HP professions would get some more interesting way of survivability different from boon up/stealth out.
IMO and there shouldn’t be such a huge difference between base HP on classes. For example, in PvE it makes thieves look bad compared to warriors(their mobility is rarely useful there) just because they have similar DPS and a huge difference in HP pools.
If something like what you suggested happens they should make dungeons accept only guardians, warriors and mesmers lol.

Remember that the knock back isn’t that useful in WvW because of the AoE cap. Also whirl finishers aren’t exactly the best combo finishers. They’re pretty much AoE projectile finishers without the damage of the projectile itself.

Buff the damage of its transformation abilities by a LOT. Those things deal less than my normal 1 abilities.
Remember how it used to be used just to get the stability and then just get removed? Then anet “fixed” that…

The problem is that the cone of damage doesn’t even match the animation when turning too fast(that took a LOT of testing to find out). Maybe if it was instant it wouldn’t have that problem.
It might actually be easier to land fire grab while keyturning+backpedaling lol.

Also, I have tried d/f and s/f in spvp, It just doesn’t compare to offhand dagger, I wish it did, but it doesnt. I hope they overhaul focus soon, but keep earth the same.

Why not? what does it lack? Is it damage? I do plenty of damage lol, and my added survivability and pretty much projectile immunity makes up for the lack of RoF / fire grab.

I prefer trading away some damage to get in return a ton of utility and survivability.

Somehow RTL is still a better gap closer than magnetic grasp(stupid buggy projectile). Burning speed’s range is kinda short.

I tried berserker D/F in PvP once. Fire was junk, water was nice, air was disappointing and earth was good. The gap closers are kinda unreliable and there isn’t a lot of hard CC on focus.

And change the class mechanic from elemental swap (which leads to the mandatory points in the arcane tree) to something like a Mana bar that fills up when you attack/get hit. When it’s full you can unleash a really powerful spell based on your attunement, or maybe change into an “Avatar of Fire/Water/Lightning/Earth” with 5 new skills depending on which attunement you were when you used your full charged mana pool.

Sounds too simple and overused… something like gaining mana on attunement swap would be interesting. Or maybe even from doing combos!

OK, creative. How about giving us another 5k HP since we can’t have any other form of survivability? Mesmers already have stealth and they have more HP than us, thieves have more mobility+stealth+higher base armor(OK that doesn’t really matter but still :P). We need something to keep the DPS specs alive. I don’t see how stealth would break bunkers in PvP since it stops you from defensing a point. Something with blinds could work but blind spam would be even more annoying than permastealth.

Also stability with a realistic CD for the duration(again – no tornado/armor of earth sized cooldowns).

We have a TRAIT for stability every time you go to earth (2s base). If you run boon duration + 30 arcane with your rock solid (+70% boon duration), this is 3.4 s of stability every 9.6s. That is really good uptime, plus it is shared with your team-mates.

As you said – it’s a trait. Also it requires too many trait points to get it unless you’re going earth+arcana anyway. IMO a new utility(or maybe a heal) with stability would be much useful.

My regen suggestion was based on the flavor of an elementalist absorbing the flames into their body and gaining health back.

Hmmm… maybe a new ability?
“Absorb all your fire fields and disappear in the smoke, gaining stealth”
With some formula for the duration… like 1/2 of the duration left on those fields?
Also with healing and it might make an interesting heal

The main issue with account-bound however is the fact that people would be using different characters for different stuff, which would make the point-spending quite hard.

Character-bound skill trees? So you could have a different build for every character.
Also respeccing WvW abilities would be nice.

You really might want to try out warrior if you’re looking for damage. Don’t get me wrong, ele DPS can be great, even for farming CoF. Sadly the passive survivability of eles and thieves is low compared to warriors(both have base HP equal to 60% of the warrior’s base HP). Also tbh 100b is pretty broken right now :P

Expansion can’t have lvl-cap, new skills, new traits due to WvWvW and sPvP balance.

Correct that a level cap increase is completely unneeded and would not work. However there is zero reason not to include new traits, skills and such. Agreeing with the first reply ITT, you’re just making up a bunch of BS.

I agree that the level cap increase is pointless. Also we shouldn’t let arenanet get away with not finishing a full ascended set. Including underwater items.
However I would like new traits/reworked traits on my ele. Don’t forget that we have minor traits and the ele’s fire minors are terrible and don’t make sense. The air trait rework was great though, hopefully they can get that creative on minor traits too.
Also new weapon types and new weapons available to professions would be awesome.

I don’t remember seeing a lot of celestial amulet users in PvP. Maybe that’s just a lack of experience in the mists though.
Anyway, I(1400+ hours on my ele, full ascended and mainly do WvW) personally don’t see the point in using celestial on an ele. The crit damage and magic find are nice but overall it feels like it lacks a lot. The lack of defensive stats makes it hard to use with 10k base HP and light armor and it isn’t burst enough to make up for it. The condition damage is useless unless you can keep yourself up. The only place I can imagine it being used in WvW is with staff.
I think we closed the case on PvE and celestial :P

I think a lot of people are forgetting that legendaries are supposed to be given for playing all parts of the game. Sadly, that idea was apparently scrapped when s/tPvP didn’t get into the legendary recipe. It shouldn’t be hard to make a gift for PvP bought with a million glory or something like that. I guess arenanet just keep trying to turn legendaries into PvE-only skins.

Also I want to mention that giving us higher HP is a great idea IMO. Same as mesmers, engies and rangers should do. While they’re at it they may as well give mesmers our current HP, they have more than enough survivability and damage for it :P

I’ve heard of farming spots being nerfed in the open world that yield less gold per hour than from repeating the Citadel of Flame dungeon’s path 1. How does that make sense? ArenaNet is willing to trash farming spots that make less gold per hour than CoF yet they keep CoF untouched to this day. I’ve heard of some pretty lame THREATS made by CoF runners just to avoid the nerf bat too. They’re along the lines of, “If you nerf the CoF dungeon many people will quit and the economy will be destroyed.”

That. Is. Bullkitten.

ArenaNet is willing to develop all of these Living Story dungeons and discontinue them as temporary content yet they are unwilling to rework on the existing dungeons so that they can’t be complete in a mere 4 minutes. Are you kidding me? You can keep the rewards from CoF the same or even boost them up a little along with all the potential gold per hour from the other dungeons too, just increase the difficulty so that they can’t be completed in mere minutes by a group of overpowered PvE classes in berserker’s armor and fix the exploits/glitches that make them easier. Doesn’t matter if they focus on CoF they will move on to HotW and farm that dungeon to the ground afterwards.

Not only that, people still use mesmer portals and teleportation guns to switch paths in CoE and avoid the turret mechanic from the golem boss in CoE. ArenaNet still allows people to simply sneak past Kholer in AC, WHY? You can still avoid a boss in Arah. People still avoid Subject Alpha’s AoE by standing right under him or stacking together and in the middle of his AoE circles to avoid damage. Jumping into a hole in the wall in HotW path 1 will allow your party to DPS Ginva the Butcher down without a risk of party wipe, similar to how you could range down the Howling King in old AC path 1. Et cetera, Et cetera, Et cetera. I’m sure there’s plenty of other exploits/glitches I haven’t seen in dungeons.

Also, ArenaNet should provide “trash mobs” in dungeons with plenty of CC to keep parties from simply running past them without a care in the world and expand their leashes from their initial spawn points so that they don’t lose aggro a couple of seconds after running past them so they take the walk of shame back to where they spawned, it’s a dungeon, why should they have leashes in the first place? People kill the berserker mobs before the second room with Subject Alpha in CoE because they will follow you in there and provide problems while fighting Subject ALpha. People run past the gravelings in AC after the Spider Queen boss because they know those gravelings will just run back to the tunnel they spawned in.

It’s not like there’s any safe zones/towns of AFK players in dungeons like in the open world.

They already said that they will NOT do anything about skipping trash. Why? Because it makes dungeons too long for anyone to bother doing them unless they need something specific(achievements or tokens). The amount of HP that dungeon mobs have and the ridiculous damage that a lot of them have combined with terrible or no loot makes them a pointless and annoying waste of time. This isn’t WoW where every mob has a chance of dropping expensive items for a few seconds of killing(and yes, I’ve been there, farming trash in raids for items).
And Kholer is an optional boss. They have said that he is there just as a bonus waypoint.
Stop forcing yourselves to kill everything just because it’s there.

People playing with market does 10X a cof runner does with the difference that all their gain is at normal players expenses…..

I don’t see a way of nerfing the gold gain from the TP without heavily punishing everyone that uses it. I haven’t seen any ideas about how to do that either(at least not any realistic ideas).
If you’re talking about precursors then just stop. They’re already making that “scavenger hunt”. Nothing more can be done right now.
BTW banning people who make money off the TP is NOT a solution.
And about warrior DPS – nerfing 100b should be enough. Another good idea is to remove the ridiculous difference between classes’ base health points(60% difference?! the 8k HP difference between thief and warr is probably the biggest reason not to take a thief in CoF).

I really like the idea of dragon wings as a back item. But one thing annoys me – how small they are. The normal cover(the one from the vendor) looks more like imp wings than dragon wings on my human. The shattered wings somehow look a bit better but they could also use a size boost.
What do you guys think?

Does it? In Singleplayergames like Zelda, DmC, Darksiders, Dark Souls are many good bossfights.

You’re comparing single player games to multiplayer. If you want to have bosses which are actually a threat to over 10 people you’d either have to make most of their attacks AoE or hit for ridiculous damage. When someone gets downed he’ll easily get ressed(especially with 12 people) if the boss doesn’t hit hard enough.
Another problem is making a group UI for more than 4 other people.

Also 12 players!=harder content. Just the bosses hitting for overkill dmg(they’re already hitting pretty high on 5-man dungeons…) and having an even more ridiculous amount of health. The most interesting thing they could do is probably make a puzzle in a fight that requires coordination…

Turn Flame Barrier(5 point minor trait in fire) into 20%(maybe 10?) chance to deal extra damage while in fire instead of 20% chance to burn a foe when attacked in melee.
Persisting Flames(Fire 11) – instead of a 30% longer fire field it leaves a smoke field for 1-2 seconds.
One with Fire(Fire 10)… maybe increase the chance on the new 5 point minor trait to proc?
Conjurer(Fire 7) – also reduces the cooldown on Fiery Greatsword by _(60 seconds?)
Spell Slinger(Fire 4) – arcane abilities instead of cantrips.
One with Air(Air 4) should start with 10% bonus(the minor trait gives 10%…)
Somehow buff Inscription(Air 8 ). Maybe more stacks/duration on those boons?
Tempest Defense(Air 11) should get the internal cooldown reduced to 45 seconds. It’s a kitten grandmaster trait, it should be more useful.
Grounded(Air 12) – 50% instead of 20. We don’t have that many knockdowns/stuns so it should be a higher % for burst.
Elemental Surge(Arcana 12) is a pretty bad trait. Don’t know what to do there. Maybe something if you’re hit for 10% or more of your HP? Resets your heal with a 60 sec cd? Hits the attacker with Arcane Blast? Edit: Just remembered we had boon hate now. Maybe that trait should be replaced with something for extra damage to enemies with boons?
Aaaaand I know I’m going to get some hate and rage for this but: Evasive Arcana’s Water Atunement ability should be changed to Frozen Burst.
There’s also a lot that can be done on the weapons(Like most scepter attacks being useless).

I’d go with the old soldier power/toughness/vitality for a DPS-y build. Sentinel just screams “BUNKER” to me.

LOL at the OP thinking the nerf really hit bunkers hard. Also lol at the people thinking the RTL change would actually affect pure bunker builds that much in a fight. Bunker eles will still be bunker eles. You either spec to kill them or you’ll die slowly and painfully :P
I’m actually about to go full bunker. Want to know why? Because my survivability on my ele got nerfed hard while bunkers barely lost any of theirs. So yeah, the nerfs hit eles more in general than the bunker spec. Using a DPS build(as you are suggesting) is a lot worse than before thanks to this patch so why should anyone play like that?
