I am sorry it has come to this but I wish you all well on Gates of Madness but like so many others I have packed my bags and run away like a sissy.
I tried. But sunday night in EB was to much for me. Loosing fully upgraded towers with sieges built because no one would come defend while 3 commander types stood on the wall of the keep making fun of each others guild tags. DH taking the left side, HoD taking the right. But at least they had the trebs guarded I guess. The suggestions from dumbos to just let them take stuff so we can take it back because it is quicker. The chuckleheads who wont quit buying the gun upgrades first.
I thought all day monday about going decided not to, but then I logged on to the 2 minute and 30 second warning to the new build grabbed the stuff out of my guild bank and ran. I didnt want to, I mean my last post I even said going to T8 wouldnt be bad. And it wouldn’t be if I actually felt like we were doing something.
So anywho not that anyone cares, just me and the GF and our two person guild running off.
Wish you all well, and glad to see people are working on plans to get things moving in the right direction. Im hanging out on Anvil Rock they always seemed like decent folk when we were fighting. Maybe some day down the line you will move up to us, or us down and you can show me just how poor my choice was by stabbing me over and over.
It is a bad step in a game that already lacks in diverse builds. The only reason I can think that they would do something like this is that their internal testing shows that a full set if ‘insert missing set here’ Ascended gear would be to powerful in some setups. Or they are stretching out their ‘content’ by releasing them later making people who settled for something else do it all over again.
Yes you can build around it for now. But really why should I have to build around it? The idea was I could build the character I wanted, not here let me give you limited selections and see what you can do with that.
Yes. They claim the next patches will be filled with stuff making the world more fun. I hope they are right because if they aren’t in 3 months it won’t matter if nothing dropped ill be so bored ill just sit there drooling instead.
Well it is obvious from the post from guilds saying they just joined DH, that even if they noticed them or not they have got transfers.
But also don’t forget the affect winning has on a population. DH has been up and was moving down getting beat on. That causes a lot of people to quit wvw’ing as much. A good match up and a strong showing and winning once do wonders for WVW population.
It is all good though, while obviously they out number us a part of the time, if they didn’t spend so much of the time attacking at the same time it wouldn’t be nearly as bad as it seems. And It just makes sense to do it that way, I don’t think anyone is planning anything. And even if they are so what. Good fights, good fun. We could do much worse. If we get bumped to t8 so be it. Hopefully we will be the right size for it.
Perhaps like some other MMOs, they may eventually implement free server transfers, once enough folk complain of getting stuck on full servers/overflows/endless queues, but allowing them to only low/medium pop` only servers would be best.
They May have already done this. For example how did people get stuck there?? They announced the change, no one was stuck they could have moved for free.
And we haven’t seen the pricing scheme it may be virtually free to move to low pop servers.
I’m not sure if this is the permanent immobilize I hit on my other classes or not, but I have found when stuck on them any skill that moves the char will break it. A leap/ teleport, heck manning a siege breaks it. But if the guardian version is different sorry
Also in combat none of that may matter since you may already be dead.
Wait, people actually fight in the water? What the hell?
Could not agree more. If you are looking for smaller group warfare where it feels like 1 or 2 people make a difference, then t7 and t8 are where you want to be. Most the servers wvw population are on the smaller side and usually more casual. Enjoying the fight and having fun. With hopefully little to no stress involved.
The downside being if you are a must win now, why are people so dumb type, you might not fit in here at all.
The only real problem I have with stealth is the heal in stealth Mechanic. Since aoe is suppose to be the counter. When a single person AOEing an area is really not a threat because of the healing, something is wrong with the ‘counter’. And you add in an as of yet undefined AOE nerf, it might get much easier for thieves.
Well and culling. But that goes without saying.
Several People have already stabbed me in my head. I do not approve of these sort of actions, and would kindly ask you all to refrain from stabbing me in the head.
I think it would make it more fun if the guild that claimed the keep could set ‘Supply Bomb’ On. Which would give anyone who took supplies from a keep a 33% chance of exploding. Sure some would still take some, but this would be a blast!
I couldn’t stop giggling. But now after watching the whole thing i feel kind of dirty and aroused all at once. I need a shower.
I sort of see them as cheating. Not that I don’t do them but they just feel cheap to me.
But it does seem like the times we really need him we can’t find 10 people on the map anyway. Go go tier 7 in the morning!
What I find odd is the statement that server pop will decide the cost. So if I get up at 3 am I can transfer for cheaper then prime time? And heck at 4 am last night there will still no servers under heavy.
I’ve always looked at it as a harmless thing. No one in any invulnerable spot is contributing to the fight and you have to go really out of your way to get trolled by it.
It wouldn’t be an issue if it weren’t 60 feet away from a supply camp. But it is, which means the 20 minutes your guild, and a few others sat there, the supply camp was under constant threat with no risk/reward on your end.
Not being completely sure where this snug spot is you can correct me if I’m wrong. But isn’t the issue people have that there is a hill there and once down you can’t get back up. All the people claiming that this is cheating say the buff should not reach the bottom of the hill there.
Even if his group was at the top of the hill the camp would still be under constant threat. So I guess I’m confused.
I’m going to go with Anvil Rock. For like a month we had a match up with Borlis Pass, and AR and while it was always kind of snippy with BP for some reason, AR just always seemed to stay chill and beat us down now and again.
At least that is how I remember it. I’m sure if I want looking through the WvW threads it would probably tell a different story. But it is my story and I am sticking to it!
What the heck are we doing on page 3!! Everyone is to busy fighting and having fun I guess. All 3 of us. I kid, I kid!
Kill Kill Kill Stab stab Stab!
Nice video. Always fun to see a group of people out having fun and wrecking stuff. And jumping off bridges…
I look forward to finding out what they consider AOE. Because several classes auto atttack with certain weapons are AOE.
On my guardian I AOE all over downed people with my Greatsword Autoattack, it is a sure way to get one or two more people downed.
I’m only posting to break up all the Eternal Battlegrounds talk.
Been having lots of fun dying in Darkhaven Borderlands!
What are these magical Borderlands you speak of? Is that some sort of new WvW map or something?
I resent that! Us Puggers don’t get distracted ea…oohh Shiny!!
This is from last night.
All I have to say is what did QL ever do to you!!!
And no this isn’t some zergs are bad post. This was shortly after GoM zerged our way into DHs SM so they were getting a little pay back.
Ive got to say thank you to DH, after hours of getting my corpse danced on by mindless zergs in weeks past, it was refreshing to have people salute after pushing in to take a camp.
It is funny how just the little things can make all the difference.
I use to think it was the game pad I was using was freaking out. Then I noticed my necro lowers her staff like she is starting to walk and just never moves. So bug it is.
hahaha of all the trolling i did this week in here, I got infracted for my joke about the new people to Kain needing to change their signatures. I guess it was off topic.
I am sorry to all the people in this thread that may have been led astray or that I might have thrown the thread into chaos by suggesting that people posting on the forum might want a signature that shows the server they are playing for.
Anywho Kain good luck on your climb, looks like DR is already starting to loose some players now that they have stalled out in T5, hopefully they don’t fall out in the week you move up! You would miss your rematch.
wierd, tier 7 is even more boring than tier 8, at least ET or FC had taken back their garrison for serveral times during last match, and kaineng guilds didn’t bother to setup waypoint in garrisons and some keeps , now waypoints everywhere…
Pretty much just more proof your new guild transfers are carrying you.
Holy crow. you guys have a ton of badges. Only 310 here. I’m not good at killing people.
I really doubt Anet will add much in the way of new equip to pvp. Id imagine just a way to get what they already have in pve, which is just rings and backs now. unless they add something new to pve.
Or they add an armor with a PvP specific stat like a lot of games are doing now. Wouldnt be a bad way for them to sell some more transmutation stones
Dunno if you’d consider it, but a lot of us are coming back for T6, might be worthwhile to hop on there for a week if you’re really interested in seeing a lot of our skilled people in action. (Not sure if I’ll be available, was intending to be but my bloody internet is iffy atm. -.- )
If you are really looking to have fun you might want to wait for tier 5. Im not sure if you have looked at who you will be facing in T6 but DH is on its way down, and AR has no where near the numbers you do. The problem most of us run into when we watch you, is there is no possible way to determine your skill. You flat out number us by such a large margin that you don’t have to do anything ‘skillful’ to win. Looking at next week projected match up makes me think next week might be more of the same for you.
Also you might want to look rethink your claim that as a player your only responsible for having fun. I mean some might think it is fun transferring to a server that just rolfstomped them and spending the whole week they finally make it into tier 5 just building rams in sm when they hold it, or building 200 rams in their keep. or just giving bad directions. I guess you could claim it is exploiting or cheating. But first, some find exploiting or heating fun. Second I have never seen Anet say it is either of those things. So should the person stop doing something that is fun or is it up to the developer?
There is something to be said for considering those around you.
The zerg has the problem lots of zergs have. They have no leader and they have no one willing to die.
As a staff wielding ele most the time in wvw I can not tell you how many times I have stopped a zerg dead in its tracks with one aoe spell. They just stand there like cattle. ohh red circle Ill just stand here…
these guys are much better then me and kill a lot of them. I just get a couple =(
But one leader to push the zerg through or one or 2 people willing to take the chance of death and charge to break up the group or get one down usually ends stuff like this. I’m glad there are so many afraid to die.
Ill have to come watch the fight club. Ive never been good at 1v1 not twitchy enough I guess. But it is still fun to watch.
Maybe I can trick my gf into get smoked several times.
I am also quite interested to hear his list. After my post pretty much explained why we came to Kain.
Im not sure your post is as clear as you think it is. When I read it, what I get out of it is.
We stayed on DH until it became clear we were going to start falling in the ratings. I mean that is what we could see the writing on the wall meant right?
Instead of trying to stay and teach and help the people of DH as they slide down into whatever new bracket they end up in, which is part of the claim on why you moved to Kain, we decided to bail.
We thought it would be fun and exciting to win instead, as we move up into whatever tier now should be kains home. After all moving up is much more fun and exciting then moving down.
Not to sound negative,
But Kaineng is no longer a low population server. Kaineng got 2 competitve team transfer (one of them being WM) lately. Just take your Vent numbers as an example, those aren’t low tier numbers.
Kaineng deserve to be in tier5. Mass transfer broke the match up system.
You are correct our population has grown since our higher tier transfers came in. I know a lot of people who frequent WvW have been taking breaks this week since it is basically a repeat of last week’s massacre, this has made a few people take on different activities until we reach a higher tier with a more balanced matchup. I am not one of these people I am just letting you know that while my guild is a part of NEO, and happily so, we do have a few people native to Kaineng who sympathize with HoD and GoM. I said it earlier in a different thread, there are three things these servers can do: wait it out and band together the numbers you do have, transfer servers, or quit. It’s sad but true, we are too big for our current tier, although with the Alliance formed and a server wide WvW community growing we are just farming our way up to the higher, more appropriate tiers.
Good luck and no hard feelings to anyone, we Kaineng natives have been there, done that, some of our bigger guilds have left us during those times, some of us have stuck it out. Choose what is best for you and pick a route, remember if you aren’t having fun you are doing something wrong.
You are actually to big for the next 2 if not 3 tiers unless some large scale transfers go on. But on the bright side at least you will have some time to catch up on your pve stuff it sounds like!
I actually tend to agree. In a perfect world the WvW population would be spread through all the servers. But people like to win.
Of course if we could find a guild with 15 people who WvW consistently they would be the biggest WvW guild on GoM so come on! Ill even shine your shoes and let you push me down in the mud!
You will have to enjoy herding cats though because we here on GoM like shiny things and are easily distracted.
This thread has gotten pretty silly.
GoM/HoD: This isn’t the first time you’ve been zerged. Stop acting like it. Kitten happens, and we’ll have a much better match-up next week.
Kain: You’re still new at having huge numbers in your favor. Learn to do so gracefully and not resort to being jerks about it. If Fubuki still plays, I can imagine he’s probably facepalming himself to death over some of the attitudes and tactics coming from Kaineng.
Personally, I don’t care who we fight or how badly we’re outnumbered. All I do is WvW, so nothing you bring to the table will ever send me back to PvE. Even if you manage to chase away all of my servermates, I’ll still be there throwing myself at 1vZerg ’til reset and taking as many of you kittens down with me as possible.
Now, back to the war.
I was sort of wondering about that at work. Yeah I have a lot of free time at work so what!?
All I could think of was that in most of the other face rollings I knew the servers or had played them. Now given I haven’t been wvw for as long as most of you I started in the BP/AR/GoM match ups.
When BP started growing we had played them and Won so when they started stretching their wings yeah it sucked loosing but hey off they went. Then AR exploded without BP here to hold them down. A couple of others came and went who rolled us, but it never felt as overwhelmingly pointless as this.
I mean I like to win sure, but even loosing I like to cap and hold stuff and feel like I am making progress. None of that is even remotely possible. It was just as boring last week for the same reason. There is no way to progress when you have everything.
And then here comes a server you have never even played before, so there are no ‘friends’. Just a bunch of kittens trying to kill you!!
And really when It comes down to it at the end of the day, I like GoM I like the people here, everyone is friendly and helpful, and most people rollin in EB don’t treat WvW like it is the end of the world. Perfect. But I’m Jealous. I want to win, I want to be relevant I don’t want to be just another Server at the bottom.
When AR wins and Moves up or BP or some of the others that have passed our way up or down, it was ok we knew them, they ‘earned it’. They weren’t just some server coming from no where full of spit, and beating us like a drum!
I guess I just need a hug and someone to cuddle me and tell me it will be alright. They have hit me so many times!! Not one hug!!
That would be funny as Hell. Could you Imagine logging in at reset and finding out you couldn’t catch anyone from the other server?
That is funny. I like the necro one. I’m trying to level one now, I have no idea how anyone did it. It is like the whole class was designed with like 10 neat little tricks, but nothing has any omph!
But I’m still low level so maybe as I play Ill discover that secret necro power that keeps people playing them!
I honestly don’t think it has anything to do with the downed states that make people beeline for them.
I think it has more to do with the simple fact that when played well and speced well they are hard to get down. So when they go down you want them to stay down.
But being the troll I am I guess, knowing so many people seem to have a huge problem with it, even if I can easily walk though the gate on my ele. From time to time will just stop and the door and let people down me, so i can float around their feet and go Inside
Ive never really understood all the post about spawn camping or even puzzle camping. Most the spawns have more then one way out so typically if i want out i just go another way. Of course I haven’t tried this week since most the fighting seems to be at the spawn so that is where I hang out. So maybe Kain has enough people to camp all the exits.
Open world pvp is always about numbers and always ends up at this point for someone. Just part of the game. Typically I don’t do it because I don’t find it fun. And usually the people getting camped end up getting the better of it since there are always morons ready to get plowed by the guards. But of the several MMOs i have played that have open world pvp spawn camping always happens somewhere.
I mean Id rather the 20 people stand at the spawn so I can just go around them. then run into them on the other side of the map.
I will talk a bit about my own experience for this week’s match.
This week’s reset was the first time I played WvW for real (Previously was just a guild event [SoS] by Chaster and learning how to do the JP) A lot of people in the guild were excited about the reset and Chaster was telling us to sleep early and gather at 8 am (+8 GMT timezone for the guild) for the server reset (though Chaster himself was late…)
+1H after the reset, I tried to jump into EB but was placed into a q so I went to HoD BL where it was really stacked in KAIN’s favour. But 15 mins later I got into EB and that was a different matter. KAIN had captured SM but was fighting hard on 2 fronts. Jiang Gun was leading WM in the assault on GoM side while Valkyrie Slayer was leading the rest of KAIN on the defense of Orge Hill against HoD.
I joined the WM side for a while and I must say that they are a really organized WvW guild and knows what they are dong. They were constantly on the move and their sieges were brutally efficient. VS had more trouble trying to organise the KAIN mob at first and lost some ground but after a while people started listening and the defense started taking shape. There were many battles back and forth.
KAIN did not really have the superiority in numbers due to the split in numbers on the 2 fronts unless HoD and GoM also split their numbers to fight each other but I didn’t really see that happen. There was one instance where WM went to help VS in assaulting HoD and GoM took the opportunity to take back their side of EB and even take anz from HoD but in this case their forces wasn’t split. Later this force tried to assault north SM but we manage to hold them off with less than 10 people as they did not really put up any effective siege weapons. Conclusion is I had a lot of fun on day 1.
However day 2 came and KAIN had captured just about everything and HoD and GoM seemed to have lost their fight. Eventually KAIN zergs would chase HoD or GoM back to their spawns and set up camp there. I was pretty disappointed at how some people from my server spawn camp but I don’t see the point to it and it discourages people from playing WvW which is not what we want.
I hope HoD and GoM can organise their forces on one map so we can have the kind of battles we had on day 1 but you guys are probably discouraged right now. Please bear with us for the week as we move up to the next tier. Hope everyone has fun next week.
Not really trying to start crap, but since it was posted by someone on your own server, I thought maybe you would be more inclined to look at it, read it, and then see why some of the things get said about WM.
To sum up some of the key points.
At reset one guild was assigned to stop a server.
The rest of the server went to deal with the another server.
At one point the one guild assigned to stop a server had to go help the rest of the server stop the one server they were suppose to be stopping because they couldn’t seem to get it done.
Yes you are all Kein now. Yes you all work together. Yes you will be going places. And grats. But if that, written by someone on your own server doesn’t sound like you are being carried you might be delusional.
It is sort of funny Atomicjelly. At least you continue the trend.
We(GoM) whine about getting squashed like bugs by Kein and how we really out skill them.
You are right to call us out about it.
Then You (HoD) complain about getting squashed like bugs by GoM and tell us how you really out skill us.
It is like the circle of life here in Tier8 all in one post.
Yeah I ran about a week of MF at around 240 i think it was with food and weapon buff stacks and noticed no real difference. So I gave up.
I like running events and gathering stuff but with no real reason to just gives me more time to hang out in WvW.
I guess I just don’t know what the builds are then. I Run a level 80 greatsword guardian. And a level 80 dagger/dagger ele, who is usually wielding a staff in wvw. And I can do fair to middling damage but nothing to send home about. I am fairly hard to kill since the ele it seems every utility breaks stuns and can remove conditions. And the guardian has a fair amount of removal and healing going on.
I do understand some of what you are saying, But mostly to me it was the way the utilities are designed. The classes with the most condition removal/stun breaks/stealth stay alive the longest. I guess if it wasn’t intended to be that way it was a major over sight.
Something else to keep in mind, so far Anet has been trying to balance the game around their Esport spvp. Which has limited equipment choices. Which means things we see as broken in WvW may not even be a problem in spvp and not all that important to them.
That is a very good point. And while I have been a little snarky in this thread I have probably come across nastier then I meant to.
The reason WM and the others get a lot of the credit from my side of the it looks like this. Friday at reset, in eb there was one giant group stopping us from doing anything, WM. There was literally nothing else to worry about except WM.
So since then everyone is looking for them. Even if there is a 20 person group and only 3 of them are WM, people sigh and go WM is here.
So it isn’t really fair. I mean a ton of you have killed me over the weekend, so i can hardly say WM carries you and the rest of you suck!
But it is the label you will get stuck with as you move up, not only because of their size, but because of the timezone they fill.
The levels do make a difference as someone pointed out. No matter how you are scaled it doesnt balance out. I have found wearing armor my level with give me good stats as far as not dying in 2 shots. but weapons my level never give me enough damage do do anything other then just annoy people.
Also while I hope culling is fixed I ain’t holding out hope on ‘soon’.
There is stuff to be learned from WM if you watch they way they move their zerg. It is actually very smart and they do a very good job of pulling people in to wipe them.
Of course having said that I have no idea if this tactic actually works because the could stand still and wipe the 10 people chasing their 40 person zerg.
They also show something that most zergs miss. Move always move. Don’t stop. Take something and move. As a whole stay together and Move. If you are moving fast enough you don’t even have to defend because your force can be back before the door comes down. This seems to be very effective.
Of course again I have no idea how effective because the 40 man zerg is always going to stop the 5 people trying to ram down a gate door.
Other then them though everything else seems to be like a pretty normal server. Some Really good. Most in the middle. And some really bad.
I like those in the middle. It is where I think I am so we have some good fights!
Random starting points would be swell too. If the Glicko system is going to lock you into playing the same servers 4 times in a row you shouldn’t have to be in the exact same place 4 times in a row.
I wish you all the best next week NSP. When we first fought you I remember thinking that friday, I have never seen a zerg that big.
I guess that is still true, Keins is big enough it never fully renders before I am dead.
Well they claim the next 3 months will be fairly large-ish patches focusing on the exisiting world. So here is hoping they are smoothing out the base and not just jamming in more broken content every month.
I guess i would be afraid to move to Kaineng if I was planning a move. If WvW was my thing. I mean it will be a great ride as the Guild transfers carry you up. But they already bailed on one server. If i was moving some where I think id aim for a Server with a standing track record. Id hate move to a server just for the ride and have the guilds bail again.
Don’t hate us because we are beautiful.
Oh and stop stabbing me in my pretty pretty face.
