Now if they could fix the guard on green keep who really really hates those marsh drakes…
On the good side whole groups of Revenants are much easier to see then packs of Mesmers.
There’s a reason ESO RvR failed.
Even things that “fail” have good ideas. If you borrow those, then you are on a good path.
So wait.
Take a system that was universally shunned by players who tried it, and who later came back to GW2 because its system was better?
The solution is to try something we already know players did not like? To the point that ESO had to offer the game as F2P to stay afloat and stem the players bailing on the game?
Oddly enough i have never heard anyone say they left ESO because of the way the RVR teams were set up. The post directly under your says he left because of the imbalance. I left because they managed to make a system with far more lag then GW2. Maybe somewhere there are people who left because of the alliance system they had, and ive just never seem them.
ESO RvR operates in a similar fashion to GW2’s existing pvp queues.
Once something’s full, it’s full, and a new map/campaign is created. Meaning there was no reliable way to get into the same map as others — and most certainly if it’s guild controlled, those single/random/pugs will be left without the team they worked with the past three years.
It’s absolutely a boon for guilds. It means that they can pick and choose who they want to fight. They can also game the system to keep others out.
Conversely, if your guild mates don’t all log in at the same time, they’re locked out of that particular match for the week/month once it’s full (with pugs/other guilds).
It’s the least inclusive mode out there. I don’t think people are realizing this.
The maps themselves were massive and you spent the bulk of your time running to get to a fight, than actually fighting. People hated it.
So yes, people bailed on ESO RvR and came back here. If you don’t believe me, go create an ESO account and zone into any RvR map there. The game went F2P earlier this year because people stopped paying the monthly subs. The RVR maps are completely empty —- and that’s what? A year and a bit after launch?
At least GW2’s existing system managed to keep people for three plus years.
If that if the way it works now, then it has changed.
Before there was no overflow. It was more like our server system only called campaigns, and based on alliance. And you could choose them. They could respond to population increase and decrease by simple opening a new campaign or closing them as they finished. They had campaigns of different legnths some 7 days some 30.
You could select a home campaign and a guest campaign. You only got rewards for home but having a guest meant you didnt have to wait in queue if your home was full.
But from what your describe it sounds like they changed that. I would argue ESOs rvr failed long before these changes.

I wonder if most the revs ground travel attacks still pass through the gate.
Devs have communicated about Fractals and they said they’re working on WvW. They’ve alluded to balance patches for PvP as well.
Hysterical post is hysterical. The game doesn’t need saving. It needs more patient players. The only people who really are in the dark right now are the WvW players, but they are aware Anet is working on a fix.
Fracs
as you can see above i acknowledged the fact they have a fractals patch coming i just pointed out that every patch up to now has slowly made fractals worse not betterWVW
the only post i have seen about any sort of work for wvw was a very very vague comment that a dev posted on a engineer fixs reddit post and it was on the lines of “we are doing something”PVP
has needed a balance pass for a very long time and with all the massive changes to the balance and system they should have planned massive balances passes before ESL and before the returning of ranked it just shows poor management that they didntand its not hysteria when you know it will be at least early to mid next year to get the coding done for these big changes especially if these things where only thought of after HOT release and by that point alot of people will be long gone
Colin stated they were aware of the problems with WvW and they are working on a solution but it was too big a problem to tackle before the expansion launch. This indicates to me that major changes will be taking place.
We have no idea what those changes are, but that was definitely said. I’m sure someone will come along and link a quote at some point.
He also said they had nothing to tell us at this point and that they wouldnt until they had something meaningful to tell us. Which gives a fairly good indication on just how far along on it they are.
Less QQ and learn the map.
DONE
If i just repeat the same thing over and over it will become true…
All I see is people hating on the new things this and new things that. How WvW is dead, and how there are no more fights. Yet except for the first week of release of HoT Teir 4 NA was popping. I know two out of the three servers at the time had the queue on EBG but they also had a large presence in the new maps and there was a balance of PPT and fights. The third server in it’s defense did have a smaller population so they ended up slowly getting pushed around but smaller population can’t do much when it turns into a numbers game.
And then I read the posts here in this forum and reddit and all I see is people complaining about the new maps some saying they didn’t want the change. I know some of ya’ll did and it is true some didn’t but for 3 years playing on the same map? Come on something new would bring a spark back. But the statement of “Too much PvE” what running, knocking down gates, killing lords or repairing? That was all in the game prior to HoT. Farming nodes? That was there. 10 minutes to do a event that if the server whose map is happening on would scramble to get back for fights?
Yeah there is bugs but hey at least the servers are more stable across the board since the expansions release. Hopefully Anet fixes them soon. There are only 2 things I see.
People posting on forums want: Empty map no objectives and only one big brawl.
People not posting on forums: Playing the game mode.
/salt.
Also I would like to thank Anet on making such a different map and not just throwing on some skins on the old borderlands. It did show that they put time a effort into something for WvW. Also the people suggesting going back to the old maps. Why would they do that? They spent the money, paid there workers and implemented the work.
I’m going to +1 and add my take on it.
The new maps ARE NOT PVE
We have auto upgrades now!
The amount of new things to build are awesome. When the enemy breaks into a tower I pull a lever and all of them are chilled and if they are able to take the tower all the 100 supply blows up in their face. In a few months we will have Air ships bombing the enemy zerg in SM and uncontestable waypoint to be placed to make a sneaky attack on the enemy garrison.
See you on the battlefield.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say you really, really liked the golem event and wished it came back more often.
Because the game is old enough the people that don’t want to be here, aren’t.
It also didn’t hurt that all the content can be done by anyone. So there aren’t a whole lot of natural rifts that form between groups.
Well, except that the GW2 population spiked when it turned free-to-play. Those people haven’t left yet.
If you say so. But I’m mainly in wvw, there certainly wasn’t anything close to a spike there.
1) don’t bag out the poor dragonhunters; rangers have powerful traps too.
You shouldn’t start with that, it calls into question anything that follows.
Because the game is old enough the people that don’t want to be here, aren’t.

Honestly, now I’m waiting for someone to try this and then come back here and say “TROLLZZ IT DOESN’T WORK”. There goes 6+ lvl 80 characters and (most) of the rewards of 2000 hours of gaming. Honestly, though, if time = money? You’ll pay the gems for the transfer. Seriously.
Edit: okay, maybe not most of the rewards. A lot, though.
No, the OP’s not wrong; you can even contact customer support. When a RL friend of mine joined the game, and he joined a server I wasn’t playing on by accident without realizing the consequences, they told him that character deletion was/is/will be an option. That said, because the account was less than a day old, they did move him for free out of kindness for a newbie and respect for real friends playing together rather than having him go through the process of reaching level 10 again.
I honestly have no idea why you have to select a server at creation. It is pointless. You shouldn’t have to do it until you go into wvw for the first time. Give people a chance to make friends and then select.
Better… So they will remove all the wvw perks you have spent your points in, make a new currency you have to grind for, and can only get with HoT. Then make you regrind for the same perks you already had. And done.
Better.
Major wvw over haul
-golems are now free to build
-golems now move 100% faster
-golems now do 100% more damage
-golems can now use gliders.
Done and done
I clicked on it. I’m not sure why anyone would watch it though. Just about the time I would get invested in a fight, they would shift to another. Very annoying. I don’t think Ill do that again. Maybe I can find one of them streaming.
Anyway I don’t know much about this pro league? The episode I was watching it was 8 teams. I hope that isn’t all of them. I guess I was just a bit disappointed. I expected more. but maybe I missed some rounds or something.
Although I did find it funny that hours after it was over there was the banner and quest tracker still crying look at me in a desperate bid for attention.
if gliding does go in, we really need to be able to load players into the catapult.
I ran into 1 necro last evening ( T4 NA primetime) after fully roaming HoD and DB BL. That was great.
I’m glad EB only had a ~35 queue.I’d like to enjoy the new BL but I’d rather have a basic map with more people than a beautiful and intricate no man’s land.
I know that feeling. T3 with a group of 15-20. We saw 10 people from another server show up to try to do the laser event. And that was it. We flipped our whole BL which was the wrong color. then we went to their BL and flipped 75% of theirs. All during NA prime time. So during prime time around an hour and a half spent between 2 maps and 10 enemies.
Of course there could have been more there, with the two groups being so small compared to the map we could play for days and never see anyone.
That is actually sort of a cool idea. With the the mega server I wonder if they can take one splinter of one map and make it pvp. Of course I don’t think it will ever happen but it would be cool.
On the good side, in the next expansion, even the larger guilds won’t be large enough. So they will have all the items they have unlocked striped away and made impossible to get until they form a new even larger guild.
Yes. I can’t wait to spend 100 more dollars to have content I had unlocked taken away from me, and locked behind a wall. Maybe in the next expansion I can get all my characters set back to level 1, and you can delete all the items in my bank while I watch.
And did you block any of thier attacks.
So, umm I played HoT for a while, had a good time with the masteries and stuff in the jungle…. then it stopped being fun as expected.
Then raids came out (which they nerfed dungeons for, to switch the focus to raids) turns out bosses are easy but timed bullet sponges and our guild isn’t hardcore enough to take first boss down….
Fractals are the same boring thing they used to be and barely give any rewards after dailies….
PvP was balanced and now its just chaos with stupidly op stuff like trap dragonhunters and chill reapers….
So now here I sit with nothing to do in the game wondering, why did they nerf the rewards for daily dungeons? do they hate casual players with jobs now? and how am I supposed to make gold now? run around in Orr with a pick axe like during release of the kitten game?…
So yeah, suggestions are welcome… (I don’t hate on the game, I just think it’s stupid design to remove game features to promote other, especially since all players aren’t full ascended and got 12 hours a day to play the game).
Dungeons werent removed, you can still play, if they are fun gameplay to you.
If all the content isnt fun to you anyways, then you shouldnt play it.
Well theres barely any groups for dungeons anymore and no1 wants to do them beacuse they nerfed the rewards for them
Are you playing for rewards or for fun?
For some being rewarded for time spent is fun. For example even one of the people in this thread agreeing with your point of view, says they have 9 characters camped out to farming flax. Is that fun? No they do it for the reward. It is fun to get a reward you can do something with.
The amount of people it would take to make the new BLs feel full would probably grid the frame rate to 0.
During golem week I remember people asking why we even had doors. Maybe anet got confused and made the wrong part of the structure pointless.
They would probably see that as a success. Tons of people in SM and no skill lag. They have been trying to do that for years.
How hard would it be to use some kind of ppt multiplier to determine points during off hours to mitigate night-capping to some extent. For example, when total players in wvw drops below X% of average max participation, then ppt is reduced to X% of full tick. When population levels again (overnight) the ppt drops again to X-20% of full tick. I’m not saying that players that cap during the downtimes should get a lower XP or karma reward, but the ppt should drop to reflect the lower level of competition.
If they do something like this, I hope the calculations are done per map and at all times. What i mean is even if it is NA primetime and there are 900 million people fighting in eb, if there is no one on the bl fighting over them, then they should tick for less.
I guess id like to see it affected by the others servers population as well. For example For the time i was on CD the main guilds would gvg on thursdays so as a result most maps were free of cd. So capping cds stuff should give you less ppt when there are no cd around to defend it. So CDs corner of eb and the bl would tick for less if other servers controlled them if they werent around to defend it.
I mean if you are going to try to go after capping when people arent around, it should be all the time thing and each map should be measured separately.
I hope they dont drink the water…
The funny part is you dont even have to night cap now. Playing in T3 even at NA primetime. If you took a group of 10-15 to any borderland. You could capture everything and not see a soul. So in a way they have fixxed night capping. They just made it an around the clock thing.
wowww large group in bl.?..wich server you are ?…
Well he said plenty of people… So 5. And the much larger group was 15 or so. :p
In t3 the only times i see people in the bls. A zerg is rolling theough taking everything they can before they move on. Or one server owns so much of eb that they move onto the bls put of boredom.
I have yet to see anyone leading go to the bls as a first choice or because they want to.
They are just getting ready to cut down the number of maps. Lots of people are complaining about wvw population and to many maps. So they are trying to turn the bls into an EB style map then they wont need 3 of them. So we can have one EB and one desert borderland map. Population problem fixed!
At least until they had to remove more maps because of low turn out…
So you just need again a ton of materials that you can’t get in WvW… Anet, what have we done that you hate us WvW players that much??
The way Mike O’Brien’s logic works is:
“If you’re in to WvW, then you’re really in to PvE”#smh #fml #omg
You know the way everyone takes this out of context sickens me. It is clear he meant to say, ‘come HoT if you are really into wvw you better really be into pve. Because we are really getting ready to screw you if you aren’t.’
Right now I’d say Gate of Madness is upbeat. Always felt it was a friendly server and still true (though only one I’ve known).
Of the servers ive been on GoM always seemed to be the snuggliest to me as well. But the population just hasnt been there for some time. I havent been back in several months so maybe HoT is treating you well.
Maybe it is just because i started on GoM at launch. So i have fond memories.
Hot fix inc!
The Join a Friend teleport stone has be renamed to Sometimes Join a Friend.
It should be in the store shortly.
@Coglin : it’s not because you was on a bad server with tons of troll that we have all sufer the same issue… On Piken we had some troll but not all the day… Even not all weeks..
And those players should be banned from WvW… Now all the community is punished because of those troll.Seems somewhat ill-informed to declare an entire server as a “bad server” when it is players from an entirely different server that come over to troll.
The thing is, you have to look at it in the scope of more then just yours or mine. As there were very literally new threads, daily, complaining about this issue. I have to be honest, and say, I am genuinely surprised that you show such support for maintaining systems that promote trolling.
I have to be honest, and say, I am genuinely surprised that you show such support for promoting your experiences over others. When I have seen you time and time again explain to people that they have to take everything into account. Not just a few disgruntled people posting on the forums.
I am not sure how what your suggesting (seems kind of shady that you presume to speak for me) but I do not see anything particularly subjective about all the daily threads complaining about siege trolls, supply trolls, and hackers under maps. I haven’t seen a single complaint on those yet.
What does any of that have to do with the thread topic of a lord getting locked outside a keep?
Yet you do see something subjective about the daily threads on how the new borderlands killed roaming. Which was my point. Nothing shady about it. Just pointing out that when the daily threads promote your point of view you point to them and say see I’m right. But when they don’t you ignore them or better yet pretend like they are playing wrong.
And I was actually responding to your derail. So I suppose we could both just go ahead and delete all our responses in this thread since you are all of a sudden worried about being off topic.

When you talk about not worrying about losing a keep because you will simply recap it for the benefits, then you are part of the problem as I see it. Seems to me that you are promoting Ktraining out of a pure inability to adapt.
Inability to adapt to what? The new completely kitten backwards design that plays on basic human psychology and make players not feel needed as opposed to an upgrade system that encouraged player involvement?
Yeah you are right. I may just be a little unable to adapt to that.
If your unhappy with the new maps, why do you have 37 post in the earlier threads demanding that we needed new maps?
Come on now, you are usually much better at this. If this is the best you can come up with you are not even trying.
inb4 another ban because freedom of speech is lie. ‘’oh noes, some people die in the 1st world country, better lose our minds and pretend we care for a week’’ while at the same time more people die in Africa or any other 2nd, 3rd world country and nobody cares at all… hypocrites
People actually do care. Those that do actually do something like volunteer to go to these countries and help. They don’t waste their time on message boards being self righteous.
Actually helping people is more important to them than boosting their ego.
First of all, not being self righteous or trying to boost my ego, because i personally couldn’t care less, but was just pointing out the obvious whats going on again… we’ve been down this road so many times before.
So you don’t care about people dying at all. But you care enough about post on the forums you show up to mock people who say the do care. Seems reasonable.

It isnt my fault! I only care about what the interwebs tells me to care about!
On the good side use it to your advantage! From what i understand the bug is simple. The lord comes back where he was killed. So when you are capping something like a keep. Kill the lord somewhere stupid.
I don’t really understand why scouts think auto-upgrades and no supply needed for them are a bad thing.
Because auto-upgrades give them no reason to be at a keep/tower/camp other than to cap it.
Yes, its as simple as that. It doesnt really have to do with scouts. It has to do with players having the very basic reason for being in WvW.
When you remove that you get a game that’s playing itself.
In my opinion, anyone who thought upgrading keeps was even in the top 3 things a scout needed to do, is terrible at it.
I never said they upgraded the keeps and crap specifically. Just watching over a keep until it had for example a waypoint was an important task.
Now it doesnt matter anymore. Loose hills, its just another keep. Loose garri, well recap it and it’ll have a waypoint. Why even bother. Upgrades may take a bit longer, but unless there is someone trying to cap things everything will get upgraded. Few people bother to dolly hunt.
If they were not upgrading keeps, then what is your complaint? What were they doing there then, in your experience? If they were not upgrading keeps, then the auto upgrades shouldn’t matter.
If your not watching over a keep now, and ensuring it gets yaks in order to upgrade at double time, then in my opinion, your failing at your job.
When you talk about not worrying about losing a keep because you will simply recap it for the benefits, then you are part of the problem as I see it. Seems to me that you are promoting Ktraining out of a pure inability to adapt.
Having those keeps as long and as often as possible absolutely does matter. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then I do not know what to tell you.

Naw, if it was used strategically, it was an essential part of being a good scout.
It could be, yes. But it was not even needed. My point was simply that any passer by could upgrade it. Sometimes players enjoyed that. Other times you had designated players who were donated money to, for the cost, and they ran a route.
In our case, we had a scout pool. A group of us that enjoyed or didn’t mind scouting. Often we simply rotated out in shifts to do other things or participate in different aspects of what was going on in the map.
The new borderlands working out that well for you too eh?
I know, i know conpletely out of context. But you are in a thread about how scouting was killed by the new bl, saying that it wasnt, or shouldnt be. Yet writing about your own scouting groups in the past tense like they no longer exsist. Funny right?
(edited by Wryscher.1432)
I like the guy who dodge rolls off the stairs. That is funny. I’m also wondering why you have that black square above your skills where your buffs normally are…
Anywho I know this video is fake because everyone keeps saying even the old borderlands didn’t have anyone in them.
Your title seems a little misleading. You say it will be a long journey like it is just starting. Maybe that is why you can write such an optimistic post. For a portion of the wvw, it HAS BEEN a long journey. HoT was looked forward to as a chance to revive wvw. Not a chance to say oh well when we finish with pve we will get around to you. HoT was looked forward to as the end of the journey. At this rate it is turning into a Peter Jackson movie. Lots of half endings that seem to continue on and on so things no one wanted to see can be added on.
That is great. I wonder if you can do that in other places you can’t normally place siege. Makes you almost wish you could knock your own gates just to let people in so you can arrow the bejebus outta them.
You can deny it all you want but for as long as I’ve been playing, when new pve stuff comes out wvw is a ghost town. Every living story update left only those that actually wvw in wvw and I can say that was maybe 5 people on the server I was on.
More people do pve then they claim. I’m sure anet has numbers and sometimes I wish they would just release the info to show you all that probably 0.000000000000000001% only wvw so you can all stop posting this video over and over again.
we actually had quite a few people playing on our server. Ofcourse when no one wants to play the bls and everyone ends up on one map I guess it ends up being a pretty good sized group.
I still wonder who thought it made sense to give an elite that can maintain permanent uptime on fury, a trait that doubles the effect of fury. Just seems like a really really odd choice.
Coming next warriors that can double the effect of might, and elementalist that can double the effect of protection.
But really all of them seem better then thier base class. And much harder to kill if that know what they are doing.
Dumb guilds are dumb. Next time you and your bud run into them, tell them you are having a guild run with him, and they need to leave the map.
Although depending where you were and the situation, some guilds do all kinds of dumb stuff if a map is queued and they are trying to get people on.
It isnt just revs. Lots of ranged attacks are ignoring walls at the moment. Some walls you have to stand in certain places to make it happen, but most of them are acting like they arent there at all.
But to continue with the revs bugs, most of their ground attacks, attacks that travel along the ground, all pass though gates like they arent there. So dont stand close to the gate if there is a rev on the other side!
As others have said, they feel grindy to me because in the expansion they replace levels. In most mmos an expansion hits they raise the max level. They keep you from running right to the end by locking it behind level/equipment requirements. In GW2 they gate content behind the masteries. They are a stand in for leveling.
But in most mmos now there are lots of ways to level up. Look at gw2. Wvw, crafting, open world content, dungeons. And this is where mastery to me falls apart. There is really one way to get it. Do open world pve events. And only one place since they split old tyria and HOT into 2 mastery paths.
Who cares if it stinks?! It is a flamethrower! I giggle everytime i do it.
