I enjoyed the big battle between Anz/SM yesterday night. I usually play in BL so I don`t deal with massive fight like this very often.

That us the good/bad thing about eb. Just pick a spot around sm grab some friends and refuse to leave. Soon you will have a nice sized war going on. Nothing is getting done, but it is fun for awhile.

Because he comes in and basically says, I see what you are doing here. I have the information you seek but will not give it to you, and let me remind you that what you are trying to do is stupid.

Although the amount of green up arrows in wvw would probably explode. If anyone went in wvw at all.

There is also the off chance they leveled. I have rallied from down after having repaired a wall that was being trebbed a couple minutes before. Defend the tower Event completed I got credit, leveled, and got up. Then got downed again. I’m not very good it turns out.

When I started with gw2 mostly it made me think about how well they did blending ideas from several different games into one. I was truly impressed with how they had taken so many features and perfected them I’m one game.

But since that time I have become rather bored and now when I play I mostly think about when the next mmo I want to play is coming out.

I will add any time I hear the Scorpions I think of Super Mario Bro 2. I was if into the Scorpions then and spent a lot of time bouncing on turtle shells rocking out :p

The funny thing is that people make accusations of these sorts of nerfs after every major patch. In reality, there is no reason why these sorts of changes would need a patch to take place. They would only have to change a number within the database on the server side of things.

They’d be pretty idiotic to make a big undocumented change to drop values on the same day as a major patch because everyone is going to look for it at that time.

The funny thing is that would be the best time to make an undocumented change, because if someone does notice and it gains traction, it is a bug that we are looking into until people stop asking about it and we just go on our way.

World Events bosses die in SECONDS 10~30 seconds with 20~30 people.

At the start it wasn’t like this, fire elemental was one of the best boss fights i played, took us 30-45 min to kill him and there was a lot of us. Some bosses still went down pretty fast but other scaled really good with number of players.

This is what makes me sad. I would agree at the start the fire lord was a touch to hard. The reason? He was in a level 15 area with a knock down that would kill you if you didn’t pack a stun break. Everyone was level 15, no one had one.

But now, I could take the above solution to make it harder, and play naked, and the fire elemental still would be no real threat. It is sad.

I must admit this took longer then expected.

Maybe they just found a way to put diminishing returns on ectos. Salvage more then 2 in 10 seconds and nerf yourself for a week! I kid I kid. They would never do something like that……

Ok this may be dumb, I’m not color blind and I’m not in game right now to check. But in the screenies the friendly circles look just like the not friendly circles. Wouldn’t the idea be to make the circle look different, not simply be different colors?

I know this isn’t my thread, but I had to say that is one of funniest things I have seen. And sad too. Turned out to be a tragedy.

This is what sucks with the arrow cart buff. Before the enemy would mass in front of the gate and you could always port to the one dumbo standing right next to the door and walk inside. Now if the keep is defended everyone stands back from the door and thieves have to walk all the way up there. It is very unfair.

And while I do think the mist in the door is cheap, I have an 80 staff ele and an 80 thief. I never remember looking out of a tower and going wow look at that ele, out there kicking kitten and taking names. Nah usually they just flail around a bit get downed and mist inside.

Thieves actually get to have fun killing people. I guess the trade off is sometimes they don’t get back inside.

I have to agree. The cat looks slightly deranged. Disturbed more than cute.

Ofcourse they will be sold again at some time. You will need to give new players the chance to spend their money at the gem store. The limited time only is just to get people to buy them now.
They maybe tagged different and named different but they will be back. Or maybe if the are really popular added at an extra low drop rate to the gamble boxes.

I don’t think that invisibility is an issue at all. The real problem is those first strike all in scholar rune dagger builds.

3-4 days ago I had an encounter with such a thief in sPvP. When he dropped on me, my 22k HP literally got slashed off by half in one hit. His opening steal landed for 2k instantly followed bybackstab crit for 9300 and there was also some additional damage from Sigil of Flame. All in all in the first second of a fight he did 12k damage.

Later I spectated him to see what’s his build is – it was 30/30/0/0/10, Runes of Scholar, Full Berserk d/d.

So yes, in my opinion what is broken is not stealth, but the fact that it is possible to nuke for 12k from stealth in what is effectively a single strike. I had 22k HP, I survived for some time, but he still got me in the end, but let’s take some people like Eles who have like what 14k HP? That would nearly be a one hit K.O.

In my opinion what needs balancing is damage, not stealth. 12k HP gone in a split second should not happen.

You wound then balance out the skills that could near instant kill a 14k glass cannon thief too, right?

Or is it just thieves that aren’t suppose to near instant kill people with 14 k health. And it is fine if other classes do it to thieves.

My personal opinion is ofcourse anyone running 14 hips deserves what they get.

I’m not really sure why everyone is complaining about ele so much in this thread? Are they all running glass cannons ele or something?

I actually untankified my staff ele and she still lives longer and kills far more people then my thief. Of course she sucks at 1v1 because well, she has a staff… But dying isn’t really an issue. Usually only die when i let it happen or I spend to much time goofing off running in a circle. There is something very funny to me about running in a circle while some one is trying to kill you. And so I die a lot running in circles.

So while I can understand some of the complaining, I’m not sure why everyone is all oh my ele dies so much all the time boo hoo boo hoo.

I think the obvious answer here is to nerf engineers.

I got to 7 minutes and thought that is odd, I don’t think I have seen them fight anyone who wasn’t already fighting someone else. They also don’t really seem to be doing anything.

I mean I’m sure you had some sort of plan or goal for the night that wasn’t just sneak up on people fighting someone else?

It is a left over idea from the trinity. Guess they removed part of it but not all of . Always thought it was dumb. It also restricts build choice. Which is their way of balancing the game. Or trying to anyway.

Remember the good old days when dumb mmo developers would rush to add servers when play increased. Like at the launch of an xpac or over a holiday, then be hosed with dead servers when that rush was over?

It has been a problem with wvw since the start. When people were all 3 sided pvp will be so balanced I was excited too. Never played a game with three sides. The idea sounds reasonable. With 3 sides even if 2 sides are weaker they could work together to balance the stronger. But with the point system and the way it works everyone looks out for themselves.

There really doesn’t need to be any organized alliance because when you look at the score there is really usually only one choice. Get as many points as you can as quickly as you can. That almost always is find the server with the weakest position and take advantage of them. When Zerg a meets Zerg b it is time to turn around and look somewhere else for points.

Then you add in that the weaker server doesn’t like being last so they start trying to get points where ever then can. Who wouldn’t? Well now they are attacking the server that would be most inclined to help them. So there goes the whole lets ally against the strong idea.

Anyway I’m rambling, I guess to sum up in my experience with it so far, I think it livens the fights up some but it doesn’t balance them any more then a 2 server fight would.

And a disclaimer when I said weaker stronger and what not, I’m not trying to insult anyone. I think it is pretty clear in the past nsp and dr both have a history of beating on GoM like a drum. We are a all about the same, but GoM seems to have found fortune with the transfer gods this time around.

I too like the feeling of support. The problem I run into here, and some classes have it worse, is that support was built into the dps. Lots of times you are actively supporting, you are just dpsing and the rest comes.

Playing a guardian as support is pick some traits dps, and jump in the healing circles! Doesn’t feel real supporty.

The two things that bother me most are targeting, and the speed at which your skills respond.

I am not even really talking lag on skills. Let me give you a couple examples. Someone once mentioned they thought it was the weapon chain attack doing it.

On my ele I can switch attunement and the next attack to go off will still be the last attunement. I see the switch I get the buff, next attack still the last attunement. And better yet I can switch targets and still have the next attack go to my first target. When running a staff having a nice second long pause between attacks then not having them do what you want is a pain.

The idea that a server has some kind of right to own a tower on another servers home BL is ridiculous.

I was actually surprised the first time I went into an enemy bl and saw we had a breakout. Makes no sense.

How about a bejeweled addon use to love that on my WoW flight paths!

And really I think defending should be boring. That is sort of the point, waiting for the other side to quit watching and sneak in an attack before they wake up.

Although I do like the ideas of maybe another door. Even if some towers had an extra door upgrade?

The problem I ran into a while ago was the events. When I first leveled there were people all over and so events were going off left and right. Exp rolling. I would say most my exp leveling came from events.

Now as less people are leveling, or you want to do an area you haven’t seen that might be out of the way, events are fewer and further between. I’ve done a whole zone of hearts and seen 1 event.

Without the dynamic quest, the ones that are the ‘meat’ of the game it is a pain to level just using the heart quest which were touted by many as just filler.

So go do the human zones like everyone else.

When everything is going well, everyone is all huggy, huggy, look how great we are.

When things go bad, its all hate, hate you suck get out of my way, I don’t have time for you.

If you get bored go back to some of the match up threads as you came up through the ranks, if they are still around, and post some of them on your server page.

Perhaps it will shame some of them into opening their minds. There was a lot of we love training newbies, we love helping people, we are all Kain! In those post.

GoM is just dominating this match up. I’ve been in some really good fights this last week and had a lot of fun. Getting some good training for my Guild. I just wish NSP had better numbers spread out the day. I’m finding myself with the outmanned buff more often than not

Really sort of sad about this too. Ive Been gone awhile. Did NSP loose a bunch to transfers?? Or as it happenes to everyone, are they just tired of the matchup and not wvwing? Most the times Ive been on, Ive been wondering where all the NSP went.

Im not sure what it says when this one of the best updates to WvW since launch.

Frankly, I’m most baffled at Anet’s insistence that living story and other additions to the game have amounted to more than expansion’s worth of game content. I’ll just say, if I was presented with that kind of content and 54.99$ pricetag to pay for it, I wouldn’t even consider it until it dropped to 10$. Facts are different from marketing propaganda, and actual expansion with actual content is inevitable. When it’s developed and released is purely a business decision, but for average player’s understanding it’s sooner than later.

This is what worries me. They stated and stood by the expansions worth of content in the last couple patches. That should scare anyone when it comes to a expansion ill have to pay for.

Most my fights go like this dodge, evade, stab,stab, weapon swap, withdraw, unload unload, they go down. 3-5 more show up, dodge, dodge, roll for in. Dodge, withdraw, dodge, flanking strike flanking st, dodge, run in a circle, withdraw, dodge, die.

I’m really sort of surprised my v still works. If there weren’t videos of people out there doining it I would say the no stealth thief is horribly broken. But there are so I have to assume I just suck.

Wanted to ask if either of you had siege problems? It didn’t look like it though.
Ours is bugging out, we drop it, get it to 90% built and then Poof. Its gone.

I don’t think I’ve seen/heard of any problems with siege bugging out like that.

Most of the lag reports I’ve heard about are for some reason to do with the Gates of Madness borderland since the last patch. Everyone’s always disconnecting there. Probably our lead has somethin to do with that no one wants to go there, heh. Hope it gets fixed soon, this isn’t acceptable.

I wish it were just the borderlands. Just being a noob I spend my time stomping around eb. The rubber banding is horrible. Any time people use a teleport or a pull it is like a ping pong ball.

Pulled an ele off a hill to get the, they are right in front of you, no they are back on the hill, no in front of you, no on the hill, no running down the hill behind me.

I suppose I should be happy I don’t just dc all the time.

I don’t know if it is still the same, but unfinished siege has a shorter life. I’ve thrown down 2-3 arrow carts run for supplies, had to fight at the camp to hold it a few minutes, and had all the carts poof before I got back.

Going with boredom. By level 30 or so you have basically all the skills you will ever use in the game. That is like a week after you start playing, if you go slow. Since then it is the same thing over and over and over, and over.

You can try different builds but in reality to be viable most of them are within 5-10 points of being the same. You can try different weapons, but really most classes have 1-2 weapons that are much better then the rest. So all the extra goes out the window so everyone can be the same.

Probably Not. The game is fun and has good base. But I have pretty much lost faith that Anet will change the things I don’t like. So while I kill time here, this isn’t the game for me.

Anet has done a good job. The strange thing is people won’t really appreciate all the little things in the game until they play another game. Then they will realize it when they don’t have it. Mad rush to to the forums to complain about the new game while saying ..well GW2 did it this way !

This is actually part of the problem. They did so many things well, that the longer they leave problems, the more you tend to think, they don’t work or can’t fix.

So yes they took a lot of ideas from other places and did them all well and released it in one game. But since then nothing really new or different has shown up. So I end up sharing the opinion of someone else, I would vote gw2 best mmo of 2013. But simply because it feels like it is because nothing else has really come out.

Not sure it is a t1 problem only. Been away a month come back to t7 only to find it takes 1-2 seconds for most button pushes to even register in big fights. While it isn’t as bad as a skill never going off, it is bad enough to make me hang it up again for awhile.

I have to wonder, when was Kain the greatest of empires and all that jazz?? Would that not have been the people actually getting to Tier 1 and winning?? Not some goofy bandwagon server that crumbled under the strain and fell apart, before doing much of anything??

Really the reason I don’t play much anymore. Had lots if fun in wvw fir awhile. Then one day it was just so freaking boring. Same thing every week. I’m not really sure how you fix it. As some one pointed out the maps being so small it is just week in and out all the same. Sure some you loose some you win, but the maps… They never change.

Having not played for a month or so I was bored last night and poked my head in.

And I have got to say what a pleasure it was. I was stinking it up. Having a new naga mouse and moving my hot keys around I was jumping instead of dodging and all kinds of stupid things. But unlike so many other times in the past all the people who killed me, none stopped to laugh or dance. Some bowed some just went on their way. It was like I was in a strange make believe land of wvw.

After chasing Btsy around for awhile and getting spiked several times for the effort I could actually get some of my skills selected correctly.

So thanks to those out there just having fun and killing a poor little asuran thief who looked like he had no idea what he was doing.
