So…. is AR taking a break this week?

I can’t speak for the whole server, obviously, but a large portion of ALS is taking it easy this week.

It’s given me a chance to be a fashionista and level up an alt a bit, so I won’t complain.

I can’t bring myself to believe ALS is the reason AR is taking a hit, no way their carrying anyone.

You should believe it. I’m in no way disrespecting the other guilds and folks that come out to score points for AR, but ALS is a major portion of AR’s WvW force. I’ve heard a few of our good commanders outside of ALS talking about stepping down or moving servers. So with ALS taking a break and some of our other commanders as well, I wonder if this weeks performance might be indicative of AR in the future weeks. I hope not.

On the upside, the outmanned buff has scored me some good loot though.

Just stopping by to agree to this. Most the time things are getting done seriously in EB that I can see it is because ALS is there leading it. When I first transferred to this server I was shocked to see Twogallants leading a Zerg around in EB to repair walls in buildings being Trebed. I was like what the hell?? People were complaining and He was all like ‘Shut up you are getting exp’ Right then I joined the fan club.

And Myself I don’t know how other casuals feel, but really this match up is really sort of blah. Sort of gotten to the point where I know what will happen. Maybe not exactly, but enough that there isn’t enough to keep me interested much past an hour.

Id love it if they would give us random starting locations so I didn’t have to do the same crap every week.

I think we all know this video was Staged, Nsp Never attacks BP! And the guy was obviously hacking, he had like 150k health.

And whoever thought of waypointing golems is brilliant! That is why i just run around and stab stuff, never been that bright.

To me the worst part of this would be the loss of stats. Unless of course you were planning on running a cheesy black powder build to level.

I guess it is something different but it really doesnt strike me as ‘hard mode’

You maybe suprised how good the sword is in wvw and pve. Half the time I forget I have a dagger in my offhand the sword cleave is just to much fun. Also it is easy mob mowing.

Of course if you are used to spamming cnd mug bs it may prove to be something total different.

This is getting pretty good. I think I like this guy. Well except for the language part.

It is sort of funny, he is moving so fast you have no chance to kill him. Yet you cast one spell he freaks out cast roots and runs. Dude, if you are gonna cheat do something cool.

Well I don’t have much experience with Necro only being level 35. But If you are one of those targets, er I mean people who like to jump off walls, Id probably roll guardian(beast mode go!), ele(not all d/d, staff can be serious fun from a wall or back of the group), or thief(not all burst, sword is some serious cleave in groups). These classes have a vast array of get out of jail free cards, and can usually walk back into a tower with out much rush unless focused very badly. Id imagine a mesmer could as well but not having one I cant recommend it.

All in all though basing your choice off faceless people on the internet leaving you to die is not the best. In WvW most people are afraid to die. And as such, want to stay where it is safe. At the back.

But jumping off a wall to rez someone is about the best way to get yourself killed. Jumping off the wall to kill someone else… well that’s just fun.

I know I was just giving you crap. Im pretty sure all the sides do it at one time or another. I just thought it was kinda funny.

Funny Kain has to kiss up to the other T2 servers, yet they were pretty big offenders of trash talking in T3. Fake people are amusing.

Most the people in the threads I read just get caught up trying to defend themselves from the we are being carried by our transfers post lots of people make about them.

Although I will have to admit that I laughed every time I read a post from Kain last week saying how nice it was to be fighting servers where everyone was honorable and bowing after a fight. Kain was by far the worst server I have played against as far as dancing and taunting after their zerg rolled you. I mean we had no chance, yet there they are dancing and a taunting. Catch one out alone, off they run to their zerg so they can dance and taunt some more. Which is the main reason I still follow their threads hoping one day I will read about them getting smashed and beaten down.

So far they have let me down. Those dirty so-and-sos.

Love how these two are trying to stir up trouble in our matchup thread. Please go to your own thread. We are here to discuss about a fight between BG-TC-Kain and not about a problem you have with one server. Anyway let’s ignore these two and move on.

Im not sure how I was trying to stir up trouble. I even defended Kain. I also thought it would be a bit of personal motivation to prove those of us out here rooting from you to loose and badly, wrong. Like you have every week. It should be a source of pride knowing every week there are people looking in on you hoping this is the week kain goes splat. And every week you show them you are more then just a server riding your coverage to victory.

But if that is trying to stir up trouble. Im guilty, I guess.

I logged in for about an hour late reset night, and decided the culling issues have really made playing this game, unfun. I knew they were wearing on me, just didn’t know how much until last night, when I was extremely tired from work.

I probably won’t play much, if at all until the WvW patch, which unfortunately was pushed back until March. I think that was the killing blow for me.

Good luck, have fun, and if I get bored chasing my kids, and grandchild around now that it is warmer, I’ll log in to kill some folks.

I feel you. It even bugs me in small groups not just zerg on zerg. I love running my thief. But I have no idea how good I actually am. Am I killing people because of culling and how long it takes thieves to render coming out of stealth? I even switched to a S/D build so it isn’t just a burst fest before anyone even sees me. Still I feel like I’m cheating playing a class I like the most.

On the downside there really isn’t much else to play until something else drops.

In PvE, if a player is awarded loot by killing a creature and the loot is of uncommon rarity or higher, a chest will appear that contains the loot that would previously have been on the corpse. If the rarity of the loot on the creature is lower than uncommon, the loot will remain on the creature’s corpse.

In the last patch notes. You said it isn’t related to mobs, but I cant help but think this is what you are seeing. I could be wrong.

No. Nothing in the chest is worth buying. Using the items i get from the odd key drop here or there is fine.

Just to add while cnd mug backstab is the normal burst cycle, PP unload does do some really good damage alone as you noticed. The problem with it is anyone who knows how to will just dodge most the damage since the ability is so long and the damage speread across it. But it is great for mobs. And well people who dont/cant dodge.

Although every time I see one of these videos the people ‘got lucky’ and the lord bugged. Id love to see a video of one where the lord didn’t bug. It is almost like you couldn’t do it if the lord didn’t bug, since no one ever post a video like that.

I usually run master maint. Because well crit is good. And then just depending on how I feel I run Bowls of curry butternut squash for even more precision! Yea! And 10% crit damage. Or bowls of Orrian truffle and Meat stew for 100% chance of might on dodge and 40% endurance regen speed. I am a dodging fool after all.

I’ve become addicted the SR and blinding powder. In group setting a quick get of jail free for any nearby member is just to much to pass up. And even better it stealths me. I’ve started tinkering with Roll. Running PP I can’t burn int super fast in unload spam. And we’ll once you get good at spinning the camera roll is a decent gap closer, it is also fun in the times you aren’t paying attention and fly off a cliff to your death.

It looks like any of the named 80 exotic pieces. They all look the same. Nikos, Fred’s, bills, ok I made those last 2 up the others evade me me. They must be working on their daily dodger.

Anywho they all look alike I’ve bought several different ones to skin my different armor sets. Although I am asuran so I can’t swear but the half skirt can’t be on many sets. I just by the cheapest named set and use it to skin when I want to try something different.

To each their own. I like the head on play style of warriors but hate being a thief. People just like different classes. Plus, you can say the same thing about any class.
Thief – back stab, heart seeker, heart seeker, heart seeker, stealth, dodge.
Ele – chaos meteors, stun field, healing rain (AoE AoE AoE).
etc. etc.

I know. I didn’t really mean that as negative as it sounded. As you pointed out with the limited skill selection all the classes basically boil down to doing 1 or 2 skills all the time and just fitting the rest in when needed.

I wouldnt see a problem with it if he waited on the supply to resupply. For example took 10 and waited for 10 to resupply before taking 10 more. Then it really isn’t a real big deal.

Yeah people will still complain because they will run up and see the rams and think someone was jerking them around.

On the flip side I would imagine this isn’t what he is doing. It would take much to much time, and it is much easier to make things harder for other people, then to make them hard for yourself.

I run a 10/30/30/0/0 SD/PP in wvw it is really fun. As you pointed out in the video in a group setting there is no flashy animation no obvious big hey you just got hit for 6k, so many people dont even realize you are shooting them until they are dead.

The down side being if they do notice, and have any idea how to dodge at all, unload costing so much, its a pain. Although I am fairly sure it is very rude of them to dodge our best attack.

Just as others have pointed out, dont. Unless you have haste or something.

Typically on my thief stomps go like this. I go down. Person starts the stomp. I wait until they are on the way down with the spike then port. By the time they get to me and are on the way down with the spike again, I stealth. Depending on if they are smart enough to stand there and swing a weapon to kill me or if they wander around, port may be back up by the time they get back and try to spike again.

So unless you have some instant port to follow me when I port or a faster spike, because if you do get to me fast enough stealth will not be up after I port. Or you make me port faster, again stealth wont be up. But if you cant do those things just stand and swing.

All I want to know is why it is that all the people who dance or laugh when they kill you when they out number you, are the first ones to run and hide when the fight looks like it might be close to fair.

Holy bejebus I think BP killed me like 900 times tonight. Dont really pay much attention to guilds, just stab red stuff so shout out to uummm people who stabbed me alot!

Lots of armor in this game is just so boring and lackluster. Im still surprised at the amount of it in a game that was suppose to be about nonvertical progression. Or the lack of cool looking armor in the cash shop on a ftp game.

I try ro be positive. The said the models were for rendering on lower tier machines, nothing to do with culling. They also said the change back to what they tested early was the first step.
So i am hoping they knew it was a bad first step but maybe ine that had to be put in for the long term so they could move forward.

Yes. If any of the oh so important personal stories didnt make me want to bang my face on the table after a chapter or 2 then maybe no. But until then my char is just cosmetic just like the skins they sell.

! Really to me so far GW2 is the next WoW, in the fact that they really didnt do anything new and exciting, all they did was do alot of stuff others we doing, put it all under one roof, and do it well.

But actually Tera ruined all older mmos for me. The combat there is fantastic. Gw2 just had more going for it then combat, and the combat is a workable mish mash.

Indeed, i even have an 80 guardian and i dont think i ever used it until i saw it yesterday on my thief. i was messin around with a guardian and two of his friends, he sancs, i have no idea what it is heartseeker fly through the air and bounce of the dome. get up think to myself most skills dont last that long, give it a 1 count heartseeker again. I mean it nas got to be super short right?

Fly through the air bounce off again. Then they kill me. i couldnt stop laughing.
Yeah i know im bad. It is still funny though.

Threads like this always make me want to level my mesmer. then after about 10 mins I bang my head in frustration and play something else. Maybe they are a blast at end game but leveling one is about as boring as all get out. How many pink lasers can one class shoot?

Here’s a quick video from DH’s victory at Bay in our borderlands last night, obligatory epic battle music included. There were roughly 12 of us holding out as long as we could against 50+ once the wall came down. But numbers or not, DH are some resilient mofos and great competitors.

Nice video and it makes me think of every Alamo movie i have ever seen. I did notice one thing though, I was watching a thief video and I didnt see any heartseeking or extensive rending abuse going on. Obviously you have not read up on how to play a thief properly, and the guild may have to revoke your thiefing license.

Im always cornfused by this. WvW is always a case of who is bigger. It is just the way WvW works, in any game I have ever played.

I mean even in the upper tiers where people have to wait to get on their map of choice so everything is even, people still complain, I was in a group of 10 and your group of 20 ruined it! You mean zerg.

Yes there is a place for smaller groups in WvW, but in the end it is usually going to be about who is bigger.

Although If i have to fight Kain again, Imma sure as hell gonna complain about it. I got tired of the dancing 10 minutes into that one.

I wonder if the mods will lock a thread due to confusion.

I think they need to unplug the wvw servers when I go to bed, I get up in the morning and it always sounds like I missed all the fun.

My advice is do get kill hungry, do get drawn in to far, and do die a bunch. One thief can really have some fun on wvw messing with larger groups. And nothing is more fun then chasing someone into their Zerg where they think they will be safe and then stealth spiking them while his friends try to Res him.

I guess maybe aim for the middle ground. I see a bunch of thieves in wvw who are basically a non factor because they run at the first sign of trouble.

This to me has become the worst part of wvw. It might be good if you move around in tiers, but if glicko works they way it has in the past, the lower tiers will be all but locked in place. Which is fine, sure it can be boring fighting the same people over and over, but I’ll take that for a good match up.

But playing the same people and being stuck in the same spot on the map for month? Makes me want to bang my face on my keyboard. I mean I know wvw is basically the same thing over and over, so please let me defend something slightly different.

I have had this happen twice since reset. Only it was obvious it was the other side that got hit. It was bad enough my gf looked at me and said something along the lines of, it looks like they are in slow motion. Why aren’t they moving?

Thieves are very good in wvw. Once (if) they fix the rendering coming out of stealth they will be slightly less good and gc thieves might suffer very badly.

Right now with stealth the way it is you can down 2-3 people as a gc and never render on people’s screen. Doesn’t even have to be in a big group fight.

I do think class has a large affect on it too. If i am playing one of my classes that is ranged and dropping aoe on people I seem to get alot less. Even if I am killing around the smae amount of people.

I would say maybe it is a tagging issue but My staff ele I would say does more damage to more people then my near bunker guardian, but I get more on my guardian being in the middle of the melee.

I think for next week we should all roll thieves. They are obviously the most fun and super coolest. Of course no one can go d/d, because of how dumb the heart seeker animation is. Stupid little half twirl leg kicky thing. I tell my thief friends how dumb they look doing it, but they don’t seem to care. No style I suppose.

So next week I want to see (hahaha) armies of sword wearing, bow shooting, pistol blasting thieves fighting. Nothing else.

Now make it happen.

Most of my what ifs are around supplies. Most have been mentioned, but it is such a poorly designed part of WvW with so much potential.

What if you you could repair siege with supplies. (would have to be out of combat only or maybe like 30 seconds after last use, or some things would never die)

What if you could run supply to the tower/keep yourself and deposit it in their depot.

What if players who died with supplies had a chance to drop supplies.

What if you could drop supplies, like you can drop siege equip, to be picked up.

What if supplies came in cans, and you could throw them at enemies with a chance to knock them down.

What if like the yak you moved slower when you had supplies.

What if you could catapult supplies…

Ok I made the last couple up. But I do like my supplies!

My latest gripe – why such high ‘downed state’ damage output?

Was yak-guarding on my condition Necro, with a Mesmer bro this weekend, had an epic 2v2 encounter versus two thieves, managed to actually down both quickly (crazy, I know!) with some well timed Confusion, Shatters, Wells, Marks and DeathShroud action… then I was insta-downed because just one of them spamming #1 attacks on me took my remaining 5k HP or so down to nothing in seconds. Conditions had already downed my Mesmer partner at that point, so there we were, four downed players in a downed state battle, which was easily won by the thieves just eating through our remaining health bars faster than either of us could possibly keep up with. Bah.

If it makes you feel any better I was downed by a warrior while I was/dance over his downed body. Im pretty sure they need a nurf too.

Coming from AR who NSP is fighting this week I can tell you NSP is most certainly not dead. They can field a very respectable force.

But as others have pointed out, in the lower tiers no one can guard everything all the time. We dont have the coverage. And compared to BP and AR, NSP just has less.

Dead? No. But after all the chaos that will come with the ratings reset, hopefully we all end up in places where our numbers and coverages match those who we are playing. I know, wishful thinking.

This is far from over. But I’m hating the thought of a possible outcome.

“If” Kain ends up winning by 200k+ it’s going to knock the other servers that obviously deserve to be in T3+ back to the stone ages next week. It would also mean Kain would get bumped up to T1 to fight against lower tier servers that will likely get bumped up there.

In both cases the servers currently in T3 will absolutely dominate next weeks matchups. In fact, beyond these 3 servers there will be a lot of stacked matchups over the next few weeks thanks to the reset. It’s going to be much worse that it’s been over the last few weeks that just a couple servers were dominating on their rise up the tiers.

Unless they limit the amount of places a server can go up/down the rankings, every tier is going to be a mess for more than a month.

No way everything will be fine! Anvil Rock is looking forward to a rematch with Kain Next week in T2!! Sure we are tier 6 this week but surely barely beating(if we win at all) against other tier 6 servers is reason enough to launch us to tier 2.

Of course Darkhaven is tier 7 and will be there with us to stop the mighty Kain! So what could possibly go wrong…

When they announced the server resets I wasn’t sure what the big deal was, now I see. At least the other way only like half the match ups were messed up. Next week every single one could be a blow out.

It is sort of funny, in several patches they have mentioned correcting this and that it is hard to predict when a patch will drop. Which I can understand. But it is slightly amusing to think people sitting around at ANET and one guy runs by and press the ‘patch’ button so fast that they were only able to give people 10 seconds of warning.

s/d + p/p is just to much fun to pass up.

I cant speak for TC, but last night on Anvil Rock I had a problem. Now keep in mind this is a tier 6 server in the middle of the week. Go to log into EB and bam queue. Me and th GF wait for like 20 mins. Im thinking sweet middle of the week and we are full. We are probably rocking it in there.

Finally get in and what do I see, we only have our section of eb and the only active fighting marked on the map anywhere is at Durios. I say sweet! Huge zerg fightat durios and run to get there. I find 20-40 enemies swarming around outside and like 10 or us inside. Now I had just run through our keep and the middle of our land and maybe saw like 10 other people.

Now with no real hard fast number on how many can be on a map since it is super secret, even if I double what I saw that puts us at 40 people on the map and i waited in the queue for 20 mins.

Something is wrong. Id imagine they know something is wrong. Or they are really messing with the numbers to see what they can make work with culling and how bad it gets. There really is no other reason I can see why they wouldnt tell you how many can actually be on a map at once.
