That is a brilliant idea!

Next anet will release a statement saying the lag is caused by some faulty AI in the mobs, causing them to constantly recalculate their path and dragging down the system. So if we ,the players, could just kill all the mobs we see, wvw will run much smoother.

Elementalist’s “static field” I have seen cause enemy players to turn from being red names to yellow until they are no longer stunned.

As the person mentioned above, you are being taunted. I think it is Revs that have a trait that taunts the person who stuns them, when they get stunned. Much like the mesmers trait that copies the stun on the person who stunned them.

They pretty much forgot all the Rev abilities. All the mace axe and hammer skills pass through gates like they arent even there. At least on the walls i have to move around to find that sweet spot to get the hammer auto to pass through.

I like to think maybe they were trying to fix some annoying line of sight issues and things just went wrong.

Rumor is that Veteran Creature Slayer can be completed by going to the NE corner of the map and kill a Wyveren found there. They have mentioned they are working on the Ruin one although I feel it couldn’t have been too hard to just disable it by now.

It is a small staff on wvw. They had to choose between nerfing the gethering nodes or disabling a broken quest. They didnt have time for both.

Eh, I disagree. I’d really like to not be required to pve to get mats for making wvw food, gear, and upgrading the guild halls (though, still have to pve for the latter anyway. T_T)

I get enough mats out of heavy loot bags and salvaging crap. It was fine when they were spread all over the map but now we take something and everyone mines away. Even seen commanders telling people to mine the nodes after each cap.. What a waste of time these are..

Much like this game. A giant waste of time.

node nerf ?

I’ve put in about 2,200 hours into this game and about 1,700 of those hours have been through WvW and I have to say I absolutely hate the new maps, but honestly that node nerf does suck if you think about it..sure It brought PvErs into our maps but at least it brought players to fight now it’s completely dead.

Haven’t come across a pver on nodes that would try to fight back.

I saw the nodes as a reward for those that scout in towers/keeps but the thing is, they were a pretty good reward for everyone who just ran by. UW had most of EB this week, could just run around in circles, ignoring SM and the nodes refreshed by the time I finished one round.

They should make the nodes refresh rate based on time spent in their proximity.

I was actually waiting for the first bot train to show up doing this.

As for defending why should we defend, no time, energy or gold went into upgrading anything so no one cares if it flips, especially at night coz come morning everything on everyborder is T3 again with zero input.

Score maybe? You know, those numbers that tell you who win?

PPT is not all…. You earn nothing if you win the MU… Your server don’t earn nothing if you win the MU… But building and defending a keep with WP is more interesting because you have to make something (starting upgrade, protecting doly, team work) and you have something usefull in return (the WP).

Couldn’t disagree more.

Sorry, but I would rather have my server work together and win the match up. I couldn’t care less about any given WP from week to week if we were losing g every week.

i use to agree with you. But then one day i noticed something. And it has held fairly true through many of the servers i have been on. What i do in North American Primetime usually has next to no bearing on the outcome of the match. The servers usually seem to decide who wins in the time after i go to bed and before i get home from work.

So I Am like the guy who gets put in the game when the star needs a break. Anything I can so is swell. And the longer I can not screw it up, the longer the star can rest. Ihave to be there because the team needs a certain number of people on the field to not forfeit.

So I figured if it doesnt really matter so much stop sweating the small stuff. Stab people have fun. The elves that make the shoes when i go to sleep can worry about the score.

Which could explain why the new towers on the new map are so big.

Which is why we usually end up fighting over SM. It is large enough to support this behavior. People break down a wall or 2 or 3 and now you have room to fight and defend.

Now the problem has existed for a long time, HoT has just made it worse with the new mechanisms like auto upgrades, to the point it has even tipped many of the few players who still played for PPT and enjoyed things like scouting / upgrading over the edge.

I believe most of the core issues have been addressed by the new map, but haven’t been solved completely:

  • Less blobbing => bigger map (versatility), less waypoints, barricades, sentries that mark enemies
  • More defending => auto upgrades, lots of supplies inside objectives, more dmg from lord, more oils in towers, can’t treb one objective from another objective
  • Comeback mechanic => laser event

But as you all know barricades only stop small groups not zergs, dolyaks bring in supplies too fast even if the amount carried was reduced, laser event actually helps the winning team and it’s too powerful.

How is the laser event a comback event? If you are outnumbered and so beat down you need a comeback, you arent going to win that event. At most you might be able to claim itnis a small step towards trying to fix night capping. Since if you get on and your whole bl is another color but the other server has all left, you can do the event and take your stuff without an issue. But that really isnt a comeback. That is more like a hand out.

And how does auto upgrades make more defending? Our server group actually seems to care less. The big thing we would fight to hold is waypointed objectives. Now waypoints are auto and the upgrades do themselves. So let them take it we will finish what we are doing, when they move on we will get it back.

And honestly i dont even think the map encourages less blobbing. I just think there are leas people playing it right now so it feels that way.

I havent played wow in years. So i am hopefully out of date. But to me WoW was had far more grind then GW2. Now there were far more options and things to grind for. But it was all a grind.

Grind rep with this faction for starting gear. Grind dungeons with that gear for raid gear. Grind raids.

Grin rep 1 for pet 1. Grind rep 2 for pet 2. Grind rep 3 for pet 3. You get the idea.

More options but more grinding.

I know how to troll when I want to, and this isn’kitten I am just tired of the type of feedback running rampant on these forums.

Imagine a scenario where ANet hires a team of posters to systematically attack anyone who has an idea or posts anything of substance on the forums. They respond abrasively, use that person’s post history against them, and otherwise shut them down. Then a year or two down the road, the developer starts to ask why they never get communication from a community who abandoned the forums, they demand better communication so they can deliver a better product, and when a post finally comes through with some feedback, then bombard it into the ground again. They claim the players know nothing, but that they have to share their vision. They argue that they are providing a service for the players, and so the players are responsible for taking part in a discourse, even though their idea of discourse is less than appealing.

Wouldn’t that be the stupidest set of abusive, tyrannical circumstances you can imagine? So why exactly can consumers get away with it? It’s insane to me, regardless of the fact that I am seriously concerned that ANet dropped the ball with the over-design of the Desert BL.

Or you could imagine a scenario where they tell you they are working on a vague something never respond when valid feedback is given, and then 3 years go by. Oh wait…

Glints Facets sometimes wont stay on. It seems different then the deactivation bug that happens sometime. But who knows.

I have had it happen twice now, i am standing still. Nothing is going on. 50 energy. Turn on a facet. It might stay one for a second at most turns itself right back off again. It isnt triggered doesnt go cooldown. Just turns off. It wasnt one specifc facet because once i noticed it, i tried them all. The only way i could find to clear the problem was to swap legends and then swap back. Pretty simple fix. Still annoying.

In any mmo I have ever played this is the case. As a disclaimer I haven’t played to many mmo focused on wvw/pvp so maybe it is different in them. But for the most part the average joe wants to win and get loot. Understandable. So they chase the winning side. Over stacking winning sides and transferring/rerolling to where ever they need to be to make things fast and easy.

Pretty standard mmo practices across the board.

Overstacking / rerolling on one faction yes, other than that not the same at all.

To take a couple of differences, in your average MMO, your average joe, will go on a PvE server (and will completely avoid PvP focused MMOs), as a generalisation people that opt to go on a PvP server (which is what I am comparing to in an average MMO) in a typical MMO, actually want to PvP, where as many WvW players basically don’t, they want to zerg/blob it up, which barely constitutes PvP and outside of the security blanket and anonymity of the zerg/blob will avoid any actual PvP.

As for loot, I’ve never played a game where “PvP” players go on about loot as much as in WvW, I’ve played games with full player loot where people make less fuss, it speaks volumes about the playerbase, it is very “PvE”.

I’ve have never ever played an MMO where so many people just run / avoid even fights (both small scale and large scale), the WvW playerbase is by far the least “PvP” playerbase of any PvP MMO / PvP server, I have ever encountered.

I think the difference is that most mmos have a limit. For example a set of pvp gear or a unique mini pet reward. Once you get your tokens or what ever, you are pretty much done with the loot side of things. So the people that stay and continue to play are the ones that want to.

Here there really is no end to the loot. So while in most mmos you have a month or so of the pvers chasing loot, they then stop when there is no carrot. Here there is always that carrot. More ectos, more pink junk, another precursor.

And pve event who give advantage to the biggest team…

In a PvE zone that event would be a PvE event, in a PvP area like WvW it is a PvP event, it is in effect a sort of carry the flag event, is similar to PvP events in other games (PvP rifts, in Rift for example).

You want to know the real problem with it, the playerbase, as far as PvP game modes go the WvW playerbase is absolutely the least “PvP” I have encountered, packed full of zerging PvE players (be it zone blobs or the dellusional guild raids), in a game with actual real open world PvP, in either a PvP MMO or with PvP servers, where the playerbase are actually interested in PvP, a “PvE” event in that vein would be fine.

You can’t do much about a scrub playerbase. (also not helped by a game mode that is basically so poorly designed it isn’t really functional as a ‘competition’)

Some of the things they did seem to work against each other. Make the map bigger to spread people in out. Make stuff harder to capture to give people time to defend, making it harder for small teams to capture. Those two changes work against each other.

I suppose you could make the argument once you blob down the main pve event small teams can spread out to cap everything fairly fast, but I’m not sure that is a good thing.

A good indication of how popular Anet thought the new maps would be. They made the Lords harder to kill, heck some of them are more annoying then if an enemy group showed up to fight you. And they put in traps that can kill you.

Pretty clear. Why would you need Lords killing people and silly little traps killing people? Right! Because there is no one else there to kill you! The only thing to stop you is getting blown off a mountain and rage quiting!

Just because i don’t own HoTs I am unable to pruchase “Shield Generators” in WvW or use them. As i only play WvW I’m not paying 30+ pounds to use 1 siege item.

This is the tip of the pay2win wedge that will break WvW ladies and gentlemen.

I don’t see how that is p2w. p2w is saying the game is free, and you MUST purchase items in order to really advance. gw2 has never, and will never be that way. Saying that is so, is an insult to their company, as they have CLEARLY stated that will NEVER be their intention

I most often see p2w used to explain a you pay for an advantage. As in the money you pay makes it easier for you to win. Pay to Win. Not you must pay to advance.

Id say being able to use siege items others cant use certainly is an advantage. How big of one? I have no idea. im not sure ive seen anyone use a generator yet. But everyones server is different.

Well i doubt it makes you feel any better but we are in a similar situation in t3. While we have more people it atill isnt enough. Currently in NA primetime it seems like all 3 servers have enough people for one nice sized zerg,. So some times you split up and go take everyones borderlands uncontested but loose your eb. Or you zerg up and push their forces off eb and they split up and go cap your borderlands uncontested.

I guess atleast we have enough people to take stuff and not take forever doing it, so we can at least level up and get merits. But still our servers only have enough people to fight over one of four maps.

I love it. In fact i enjoyed it so much that i started doing it along with them.

Then my girlfriend hit me. A lot.

Gliders in WvW borderlands - a suggestion

I actually love this idea in WvW … but haven’t fully puzzled out if it could be abused or not .. certainly there needs to be a dome/barrier as a player gets near an objective … can you think of any other ways?

To be far they did make the camera adjustable to the zoom hack distance so everyone could do it. So they might as well let everyone fly since cheaters are doing it now!

I can wait for the first time a commander yells, Someone get on those anti aircraft guns!!!

Desert Bordeland map is very small

Not sure if serious but… I agree. The map is not too big. Its just too convoluted. Too many cliffs, narrow paths, canyons, rock walls.

The keeps are too complex. Too many stairs, too many passageways, too many levels, too many gimmicks like lava, jumping pads, sandstorms.

We asked for a new map. Not a new maze. I think Anet forgot how to spell.

This is my feeling on it too. Im sure once i do it for a while that will go away mostly. But i really cant help but feel that most of the keeps feel like that were made for a face paced first person shooter, then an mmo. Lots of short switch backs, lots of up and down, lots of walls, and lots of little windows to peek through.

Any damage while gliding should make you fall. I dont want to be chasing whole zergs of people who just float away. I do want to aoe a whole zerg of people who tried to run away and watch them fall to thier death.

Considering the map size in GW2 I’m really curious what people would say when first seeing TESO RvR map.

Probably something like…. So twice the size does come with twice the lag.

A rant on siege

Ahh the age old battle between the ppt guild and fight guild caught in the forum in real time. Let’s watch and see what happens!

No never mind. Everyone I’m sure has seen enough of it on thier own server. Although I must admit I still laugh every time some pug drops siege and the whole Zerg bails on the fight because sieges are for sissies.

And really it is nothing that will be solved here and is the reason you have whole servers trying to lock themselves in tiers they enjoy. So those who love fighting with siege and hiding in towers can ppt with other like minded folk. And those who enjoy open field fighting with out every tom kitten and hairy dropping siege on every bridge.

Not like you get anything for winning or that it matters at all, so you might as well do whatever it is you enjoy. We just need a post or two by the duelers next to SM complaining about being shot at, and we will have covered all the bases.

I love the new Desert Borderlands map

the map to me actually encourages karma training. The other evening with a group of 25-30 we started on an enemy borderland. We went all the way around the map. Took 80%ish of the objectives. We saw exactly 2 players not of our faction. When we were back where we started, I looked at the map and only had the 2 lower towers and nothing else.

Perfect to start the train over. And no pesky pvp to get in the way.

The real 4 main issues with the new WvW

People are right, once pve dies down in a week or 2 the population will rise in wvw. History has shown us this. Of course history has also shown us a couple weeks after that with the new stuff worn out, people will move on to something else.

So befor to long populations should be back to what they were before HoT. And that still isn’t enough people to fill those maps.

New BL Unplayable

Didn’t have it that bad. But our 3 what was two groups of 30ish and nor group of 15ish. But it was still fairly laggy.
