It is better then launch night when they were spawning every minute or less. Id get to the end and start over. I imagine when enough of the wvw crowd has purchased the unlimited harvest tools, they will be changed.

Good point. I’ll settle for a potion of reasonable length that every time I get A Hero Point, I get 2 instead. Because the boost prove that the game does in fact work that way.

What times does WvW close?

It comes back up when hot opens. But then it resets again on saturday. As the poster above said they did not say when it will come down. But i would assume it will be when they take the servers down for hot. Since this week counts for nothing.

Im starting to feel a little sorry for all the servers who will be in matchups with coverage gaps. If it really does become that difficult to take towers it will really suck to log in and find all your things were flipped and upgraded while most your server was gone.

Night capping qq may reach an all time high.

Hopefully it wont be that bad.

every single MMO that launches something new has slow connectivity, i dunno why but ether they always underestimate the horde of players at launch day or never prepair their servers for the huge load.

Because being prepared cost money. Why waste money on extra stuff you won’t need in a week or two when the rush dies out. And you don’t have to worry about bad word of mouth since people are so use to bad launches and patch days, they will actually blame the other players for just trying to play.

I hate to break to the random Mag OP, but we locked this matchup in on purpose…And it was done well before the fight guilds xferred down to T3. It was done with the help of SBI in the beginning as well, and included sending guilds toward SBI instead of Maguuma at the early stages. This was all done to avoid the kittenshow going on in T2.

For every person saying “stale matchup” there were 30 saying “lock the tier”. TBH no one from Mag is playing right now until HoT, and they really haven’t been for about 3 weeks. It just so happens that SBI’s Korean contingent have decided to pull 12+ hour days playing a (even more than normal) meaningless matchup. That has added to the random pugs frustration I would guess.

Also no guilds (of note) took any time off “hoping that one of the other servers would move out”; they took time off 1st to help lock the tier and prevent anyone from slipping into T2, and 2nd (lately) because WvW really doesn’t matter with HoT right around the corner.

Well to be fair it isnt just our koreans. In NA prime time Mag is usually the only server in the group without a real group running. I mean when CD is fielding more players then you, then break status achieved! Heck we tried doing a guild run last night with 15 people. On mag bl we took bay 2 towers and citadel. Just hoping some sort of force would show up to defend or fight. How many mag showed up? 2. 1 of which was afk in the citadel. We messed around for another 15 minutes then gave up.

No biggie like you said wvw doesnt matter now (if it ever does) so it is all good. Just a bit boring. Not many guilds are really running so the blob war is in full effect!

Although citadel would have been much cooler. Sadly we arent that good. We did stand in our own citadel for an extanded period of time wondering who designed the messed up houses that just disappear into the mountain. Does that count?

I guess im strange like that. Most weapons are slotted into those roles as well. That usually where i look to try to figure out what the person is going to do. But im not that good anyway and generally just run in a circle spamming buttons.

Engineer Bugs (Updated & Consolidated)

I just accidentally magnet pulled an enemy ranger in WvW into our undamaged keep.

He was outside the keep, I fired on him from the wall (T3)and to get him closer so I could fire more I used magnet… when it connected he first flew about 50 meters high into the air and then landed on our wall.
I think he was just as baffled as I was, because after we ganked him on our wall he kept lying there for around 10 minutes.

Made my day really.

I thought I was the only one. Thought maybe it was lag or something. Threw a Mesmer up into the air last night. Really sort of amusing.

you know what’s also funny? the fact that you don’t have the same attitude when you buy any other product. “Oh it’s a new tv honey, you didn’t expect it to work perfectly right out of the box now, did you?” or “It’s a new car mate, of course the break won’t work all the time, trust me they’ll fix it”. “It’s a new airplaine, obviously some models will crash, don’t you know not to fly when a new airplane comes online?”

HoT is a product, as all products it should do what it says in the box, so to speak. You’re not calling ppl who expect their tvs to work as adverntised entitled perfectionists, you call them informed and responsible consumers. It’s time to become one yourself. Maybe that way, when they promise you new legendaries, you’ll actually get ’em in the projected timeframe, and not three years later.

My 2c

Tell that to the software industry. While at it, change the expectations of customers for early releases and a set price.

You know what would fix all those problems? Double the price in software prices and the developement length. But guess who is going to be on the complaining end again?

Stating facts (based on past expriences) is not white-knighting, especially if the entire industry works that way. And a software which has to run on a bazillion different systems is no car that you mass produce. While speaking of cars, how does that VW crisis treat your “all products it should do what it says in the box” hypothesis? Grow up and join is in reality land.

How far in the past? The last time I played a major mmo that was unplayable the day an expansion launched because of bugs? WoWs first expansion.

Don’t get me wrong I’m sure there will be bugs and things that need fixed. But if the game is unplayable, I don’t know how you would call it anything then an utter failure of an expansion launch.

You must not have been playing many MMOs in the last few years then. I can barely remember one that did not launch with severe bugs or problems on release.

Agreed. On release. This isnt release. This is an expansion. Or by some standards a very large update. They arent the same thing.

WoW last expansion had enough problems that people couldn’t log on. Some of that was not Blizzard’s fault because of a DDOS attack, but some was where they had large numbers of the expansion sold but apparently did not prepare the servers for the numbers. They ended up having to give free game time after people waited in login queues for hours. Reportedly some people couldn’t log on for days. WoD Launch Update Repost

And that was a massive failure on their part wasnt it? Or is that ok? That they werent properly prepared? They had the numbers but decided it was ok because the hype will die down in a few days? Sounds like a massive failure to me.

I wish forums had a button to automatically ignore all comments similar to: “nooo this change is inconvenient for meee siiggh sooob”. This thread would be probably 2 pages instead of 8 with that on

Friday evening was arbitrary and people complained about it. Saturday afternoon (EU) is arbitrary and people is complaining about it. There is no way of pleasing everyone.

I personally stopped enjoying reset time after Season 2, when it became a huge and mindless lag/blobfest. No, thanks.

I understand some people might like that, and I’m sure saturday evening will still be like that, but this change has the potential to give a better picture of the servers relative strength.

The saturday afternoon population (often including more newcomers and casuals than the hardcore reset prime time/night crew) will have a stronger role in defining the PPT lead and I think it’ll feel like a “slow start” compared to the frantic reset evening and subsequent night capping phase we have now.

So you agree the change makes no sense. Since one of their reasons for changing it was letting more people experience the game play around reset. Game play you think will completely change. So they made the change so more people could enjoy something that will no longer exsist… That makes sense.

Id also say i think it is funny, you say you want more casuals and newcomers, but seem to dislike the blobbing, The very lifeblood of the newcomer and casual.

Maybe you don’t have to grind Hero Points after all. From their latest blog:

Granted… not an absolute confirmation maybe, but it does strongly indicate that Elite specs will be gotten via some kind of “challenges” in the new maps.

Note that per the datamined figure of 170 HPs, you wouldn’t have needed to go into the HOT jungles for extra HPs to unlock your elites.

What worries me is the phrasing. Unlock your elite spec. there is a world of difference between unlocked, and having the skills/traits to make it useable.

For example right now you unlock the ability to add trait lines at certain levels. But if you dont have the points to unlock the skills in those trait lines it doesnt matter at all that the line is unlocked.

Changes to WvW since Launch

Shame some people don’t understand the time put into some of these changes and the impact they made on the game mode. Can you not honestly say WvW has improved?

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time when you put things like added sentries on your list of massive time consuming changes it is hard not to laugh.

Good move changing the reset. Having the score tied to weekend OT pushes was killing the fun for a LOT of people. Now the tryhards don’t need to push for 50+ hours and demoralize the other servers.

Please reconsider the WvW reset time change.

The Oceanic WvW community is already sparse, and this change will reduce the active competitive weekend play to half a day (Sunday afternoon/evening).
Weekends have historically been the most active and fun time to participate in WvW. A change that reduces this by over half, will not help support the much needed Oceanic population growth.

Again, please kindly reconsider the change to WvW reset time.

Are you saying people won’t play on the weekend because of some warscore? Being a fairweather should not be an excuse to keep the reset on friday. If you want to play then just play.

Hey anet I only play if my server is winning and as soon as a server leads mine by 10k or more I ragequit until next reset. Please design your game around me.

Exactly, nobody wants this yet the devs shove it through our throats. WvW devs seem to have lost all touch with the community. What a sad day it is.

I don’t know.. I have heard plenty of people talk about how pointless most match-ups are on Monday/Tuesday because during Friday evening to Monday morning the gap between the servers have been made too big due to some servers having more people.

Putting reset on a Saturday instead however, would mean that they cut the time in which such difference can happen quite a bit, which might very well lead to match-ups being interesting for a larger part of the week instead of just the first three days.

Time will tell.

Except for the servers with the exact opposate problems. Well balanced through the weekend but large differences in the weekday warrior schedules.

Maybe it is just a trick. Launch is friday. The game will likely be rebooted 900 times. This causes wvwers to cry and yell. So they annouce the change to sat! This prevents the 900 reboots during reset. And in a week or two they can move it back to friday due to popular demand! Yeah good guys!

Changing time stinks. Makes saturday a dead day in wvw. So instead of having a bunch of fights saturday will turn into a day where most people dont care and just screw around until reset.

I guess at the start it might be nice, since things will be reset and servers might be moving tiers. So people might be pushing to the end. But once acores lock in again and tiers settle, RIP saturdays.

Forgotten voices - non prime players

Nobody is belittling your contribution. Most players realize that your contribution is immense, holding waypoints when outnumbered, etc.

With respect to PPT/score, it is difficult to make a decent argument as to why off hours scoring should be equal across time zones since the vast majority of players on NA servers play during NA time. A server gets 15 new NA players and it is no big deal. A server gets 15 new OCX or SEA and the balance of power shifts.

This is why JQ has been the number 1 server for years. They’re rarely ahead after reset (at least when I was in tier 1 on TC), but they cap stuff when everybody else goes to bed.

To rephrase the question, scorewise – why should 15 players in Australia, Taiwan or Singapore count more than 15 players in the US or Canada? California and Ontario have more legislative seats than Delaware and Nove Scotia – so why not weigh the scoring by time period?

I would dare to say that on a Majority of servers if NA primetime got 15 consistent players it woild be a shift in power. Since id probably say t3/4? and below most servers dont hvae enough coverage for the maps. And 15 is more then enough to take a map with little to no opposition.

I suppose we are ignoring the arguments that:

1: 2 minutes is a rather short time.
2: Stealth breaks when starting to fight.
3: A bunch of mesmers can already do the more or less the same thing as this, and clearly it haven’t been a major problem yet.

One of the good things about trying to take sm? It is very easy to get away from. So a mesmer stealth doesnt matter. It is at most what 7 seconds? Enough to jump a wall or run out an exit for the surprise. Still if you are paying attention it is still fairly easy to disengage from that.

What isnt so easy? When the whole zerg stealths behind you and pins your whole group to the wall. I honestly expect this to be the new troll move with the fountain. No no let them almost get the gate down then we willcrush them against it when they have no where to run. I know i know, counter play! On the outmatched servers the counter play will probably involve the borderlands.

The incoming yelling and rage fits when inevitably several of the inviso-zerg stop to kill the sentry along the way, instantly revealing themselves … lol.

The funny thing about it, that can actually be used to help the zerg. Oh 5-10 people off tag at a slightly different location. Sounds like perfect bait to me.

What annoys me most is I have to be standing almost on the edge of a wall to shoot out. Line of sight an all that. But I can be standing on the very back edge of the wall and still get yanked out.

I’m not even sure why there is a way to get up on the walks anymore.

Ahh! I see. Perhaps it was just me making up definitions in my own mind because im strange!

Or perhaps it is just the classes i played. Usually being at range in larger battles even with the changes in stability not much has changed for me in larger group fights. Perhaps if i had been more of a front liner i would have noticed more changes. But back line is still the same. Trying not to die and Waiting for someone to yell, ’ Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb!!!’

Im actually mostly confused by what you wrote here. Usually zerg is a term used to define a mostly pug group of people loosely following someone and pretty much just beating people with numbers.

I dont see how any of the questions you asked really relate to a zerg. Since zerg doesnt care about comp, or meta, or certain classes. It mostly use brute force and numbers to achieve its goals. I dont see anything in any of the new classes that will change the way a zerg runs.

Or maybe people use zerg for different things i guess .

I tend to agree. But i dont think a shut down is in order. Perhaps just make our objectives uncapable. The way i see it the other sidr waits until i go to bed to cap stuff so that isnt fair, since they cant outplay is. Yet we constantly outplay them so we should be able to cap whenever we want since we are obviously better.

Because rangers were hoping to not be shafted and actually given a DPS spec sufficient to be considered worth taking into any content whatsoever beyond open world.

You say its as simple as changing gear and it’ll turn a healbot druid into anything else, but it really doesn’t work that way. It might for other classes anet actually cares about, but there’s no way to fix druid with a simple gear change. The best you can do is change back to the already hated ranger.

Well to be fair, Rangers obviously dont want to be dps… They are still Rangers after all this time. :p

1. I didn’t really like Revenant.

I love Revenant. I totally understand what you mean, though. If you see a Revenant you instantly know half of the entire story. You see its weapons set so you know half its weapon skills and you see the color of the glow on its hands and now you know half of all of its utility skills. If its a herald you even know what skills its running at a glance because of the circle on the ground.

It would be nice if there could be one or two extra utilities per legend such that we have at least a little more customization.

2. all of the content I have seen so far is intended for groups of 3 players and more.

I’m unclear what you’re getting at here. There are only three kinds of content with HoT. Personal Story, which is soloable. Open World which some of is actually soloable and you could definitely do with two people, but since it’s open there are going to be enough people to complete it. Raids, which really are what they need to be, and if you can’t participate in them, then that’s how it is. I don’t get to Raid, cause I’m just me and I don’t care enough to join a guild.

3. the super Mario brothers syndrome.

MMOs are not designed for outliers, and social misfits. .

I agree. Games based around giving up large quantities of your time to advance in a computer generated world where you have no face to face interaction with anyone else, are so not designed for social misfits.

You did get a sneak peak. There were what 6-7 patches this weekend, and the one big thing they wanted to show off/test didn’t work most of the bwe. I would expect more of that at launch.

More thief damage?

I was fighting a thief in PvP who was doing 1.5K crit per hit from pistol unload, 8×1.5K = 12k damage for a full unload. I think it is way over the top.

Boohoo i’m bad at PvP so I blame others for being more competent than me. I’ve seen worse from burst mesmers and guardians.

Hell, the other day a burst fire guardian teleported into our group dropped a fire field and proceeded to mow down myself and 3 other players in a matter of seconds with whirling wrath before we even knew what hit us. But yes lets blame the thieves while other classes get a free pass.

I don’t think Anet’s solution of adding more and more damage to classes is going to achieve balance.

I play mes and there is no one skill that can do 12K crit damage period. I agree some classes are doing far more obscene damage than thief, but yesterday’s patch gave more damage to a few classes where it wasn’t needed and they wonder why they can’t balance this game.

While i agree with you that adding more and more damage is bad, and exactly what they are doing. But I would ask, as a mesmer do you have a set of skills that do 12k in the same amount of time as unload? 2-3 seconds? To that i would say yes yes you do. Ive been burst down by enough mesmers to know you do.

Now you can argue how simple unload is, compared to what may be 2-3 skills for a mesmer. But honestly unload is the only thing on that set worth mentioning as burst damage. Which is part of why thieves as a whole agree with you. The damage boost is dumb. Fix the set as a whole. But they didnt do that.

So we are stuck with a simple skill. Simple to dodge interupt break, simple to use. But for the time it takes does it do to much damage? Not compared to what i see other classes do in the same amount of time.
