I’ll say it again. The nerf to Portal was intended for spvp/tpvp and not wvw. Although it does affect portals in wvw when the Mesmer uses them as a solo utility, it doesn’t change portal bombing in any way nor should it.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Keep portaling as it is, add a debuff when using a portal. Portal Sickness: Stuns the user of the portal until both sides of the engagement are completely rendered, kills any and all thieves that attempt to even look in the general direction of the portal.
And how would the game engine know that something has ‘rendered’ on the client (your PC). The whole rendering issue is because this game is CPU bound and doesn’t take advantage of your GPU (video card).
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
So report the exploiting glitch.
Easier said then done because of 1) culling, 2) having the time to click and 3) you don’t always see the invisible Mesmer but you always see the mass people flooding in without a breach in the wall or gate.
Its been mentioned by the community, there’s youtube vids and I’m sure Anet is aware of the issue.
What culling issue are you talking about when you are complaining about people being able to jump over a wall into a tower?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I don’t think illusions proc Sigils.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Last night was funny.
We (Yak’s) were defending Ogrewatch from ~10 FA who were on the small hill facing Ogrewatch. Then a 40+ TC zerg strolls in between FA on the hill and Yak’s in Ogrewatch, heads to Pangloss supply camp, takes that and strolls back out the same way they came in and disappears.
I laughed.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
TC WWW player here.
I do not know anything about an alliance against FA, but I can tell you this: FA is the only server out of the six that I played against where players dances on your corpse after you run into a zerg.
As a Yak’s Bend player, I had the same experience this week. FA like to corpse dance.
If I kill someone 1v1, I generally /bow or /salute.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The change to Portal CD was more of an intended nerf for spvp/tpvp.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I would go with one of the popular Shatter builds.
Shatter 20/20/0/0/30 (Greatsword+xx/xx)
Shatter 10/30/0/0/30 (Staff or Greatsword+xx/Pistol)
Legendary Weapons are fine. They are no different than exotic weapons except the looks (skin).

Another nerf Mesmer thread. Wow.
Temporal Curtain is fine. Do you want to make Mesmers totally useless during a siege? We have no AoE. iberserker was nerfed both by damage and LoS and a bug.
Now you want us to have nothing to do at all when sieging a tower/keep/castle?
Seriously?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I cry a little inside every time iduelist fails to summon because there is a 2 inch rock between myself and my target. At least don’t put the skill on cooldown, just let us waste a global cooldown so we can try again.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
So report the exploiting glitch.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
This week has made it obvious, we simply do not have the population necessary to compete at this tier.
Are you kidding? Yak’s has the least population out of all 3 servers and the smallest off-peak population as well. As a matter of fact, Yak’s is playing with ~400 PvP’ers less than last week. But we never give up.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
(edited by Xavi.6591)
Yes it would. It would make the utility skill worthless. What happens if you aren’t in a 5-player party? What if you are with a couple other people that are not in your party? Would it transport them? If so, what happens if you drop a portal and there are 20 people there? How do you control which people get to use the portal and which do not?
I would only agree to a 5 player limit if there was no cooldown on Portal, meaning that I could drop one again as soon as the first one disappears.
Oh by the way, how are mesmers “constantly scaling the walls”?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I find glass canon builds are not very effective in dungeons as there can be lots of AOE and other random damage that is very hard to avoid or unavoidable.
With full berserker’s armour, weapons and jewellery, you will only have about 15K HP with no toughness.

Yak’s wants You!
NA, Oceanic, EU!
We especially need more presence at Oceanic and EU prime times!
A lot of great PvP guilds here as well to hook up with.
Yak’s Commander Leadership is second to none!
Move yourself here! Move your guild here! Yak’s has cookies!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
As a Yak’s player, last night was great fun. We had FA pushing the Ogres/Ogrewatch hard up to Veloka hard while on the other side of the map we had TC’s zerg hitting Speldan/Mendon like no other. Meanwhile we were also forced to defend multiple zergs at Stonemist by both teams, with numerous walls going up and down.
But with the leadership of our commanders like Justice, Patricidal, Fixxy and others, Yak’s was able to persevere and push back our attackers on all fronts. Amazing!
I see today that Yak’s no longer holds Stonemist but I think that might have been a record for us, holding it for 3 days or so.
Go Yaks!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I agree. I hate when I die to see 3 or 4 loot bags strewn around my corpse and I have no way of getting them now. All that effort wasted.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I’m not saying we’re any better than another server, but painting us as “bad guys” is false and makes me feel bad for people who genuinely try to help our server.
And whether or not there is any truth to purposeful 2v1, it really doesn’t matter now. Its even apparent on this thread that there is bit of a lovefest between Yaks and TC right in this thread alone. Theres nothing wrong with that, and my guess is if Yaks had an equal opportunity in attacking FA or TC, they will go after FA, and that just simply sucks for us.
And if you guys are going to do that, fine, but don’t do it with the assumption that we are jerks.
There is no “lovefest” nor has there ever been a “lovefest” between Yak’s and TC. There is however a great /sigh by both servers when we continually come to the forums to see FA qq’ing about being double-teamed.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I don’t think we are talking about PvE.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Yeah not game breaking but it’s kind of an annoying bug that happens every time you blink.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Staff Clones still use a Beta version of Winds of Chaos: the projectiles travel along the contours of the ground (meaning it cannot travel across gaps and has greatly reduced range up and down ledges). Also the Bleeding only lasts 5 sec when it is supposed to last 7 sec.
Not sure if intentional or not but Illusionary Elasticity doesn’t affect Staff Clones either.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
<3 fighting TC, FA and CD. Great competition!
Yak’s Bend is looking for more WvW players, especially EU guilds/players for the night times.
Badger Spirits [BS] which is primarily a WvW guild on Yak’s Bend is always looking for more skilled players.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Almost no point to ever weapon switch to spear when using trident.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Please select difficulty level:
1. Chicken Feet (Warrior)
2. Easy (Guardian)
3. Normal (Thief)
4. Nightmare (Mesmer)
5. Hell (Necromancer)
6. Inferno (Elementalist)
7. Hardcore (Engineer)
8. OMGWTF (Ranger)
Really? Ranger is one of the easier classes to play.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Wish I wasn’t at work right now.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I think only the clones give Winds of Chaos and not the phantasms. All illusions also attack much slower.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Time Warp is very useful when you are with groups of people, whether that be in a dungeon or a zerg in WvW. That’s when it really shines.
MOA won’t work on champions/bosses. It is more a PvP or solo skill although it can be useful in dungeons.
Phantasms are buggy right now with the last patch which makes Phantasm builds not very good or reliable.
Also, I don’t recommend ‘glass cannon’ builds in dungeons if you are also running glass cannon armour (like Berserkers). You will need some toughness/vitality from either armour or traits while in dungeons.

I am getting sick of being forced to use a Focus in WvW just to stay up with a pack or travel anywhere in a timely matter.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
In dungeons last night I noticed about 50% of the time iduelist would fail to activate/spawn. Is this the same issue that you have with iduelist?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I’m not sure what it was like for FA and TC players last night during the assault on SM in EB, but Yaks players had considerable lag, taking 4-6 seconds for skills/abilities to function and many times some abilities wouldn’t work at all.
This made fighting FA and TC players very difficult.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
MOA, the elite skill on a 3 minute CD that has a long cast and can be avoided by dodge (probably block and blind too) is overpowered? Really? It was just nerfed (or buffed) depending if you are the Mesmer or the MOA bird now.
You have new abilities now as a MOA bird:
1) Claw: Scratch your foe.
2) Kick: Kick your foe.
3) Peck: First hit does a lot of damage, then 3 hits for about 30% of the initial damage each.
4) Screech: AoE damage x 3 + 3 stacks Confusion for about 3 sec
5) Flee: Super speed dash in the direction you’re facing.
You might even kill the Mesmer by using them. Ability 5 makes it even easier to get away.
An easy way to try them out is to fight the Mesmer NPC in the Mists, he usually casts it once per fight.
In WvW, you don’t see too many Mesmers using MOA when both Time Warp and Mass Invisibility are both better in almost every circumstance.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
IMO, we don’t need any more weapons, we just need Scepter buffed/fixed/changed. Same goes for Torch, even though it is offhand.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Chance to hit isn’t something that exists in this game.
This isn’t diablo2
Close but you meant WoW, not D2.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
@Harbinger
Very nice.
What Armour, Runes, Weapons, Sigils, Jewelery are you using?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Why not use Sigil of Lightning over Sigil of Fire? 1v1, Lightning would be more damage than the AOE fire would be.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Thanks for the responses!
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
I asked this in another thread but I didn’t really get an answer.
I am gathering a confusion gear set and I am wondering what makes a better 2nd stat – Power or Precision?
I plan on running staff and either with sword/something or maybe scepter/something. I do have Khilborn’s chest (condition/precision/toughness) and will probably go with the whole set unless there are better ideas.
So, Power or Precision?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The best confusion spec is trident
Number one rule about trident is we don’t talk about trident.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Some Mesmer reported that after they MOA’d their opponent, their opponent hit them for 3k then 1.5k as a MOA bird. That same M,esmer wasn’t sure if should try to kill their MOA’d opponent or run away in fear of dying.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
What stats are generally used for WvW Confusion builds other than Condition? Is it Power or Precision?
I am slowly gathering Condition gear and was going to use full Khilborn’s set (Precision/Toughness/Condition) but I am wondering if I should add Power to that? Maybe some Vitality?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Yes the invader will know which is you because you will have the star and your clones won’t. ANet is aware but haven’t fixed it yet.
Feel free to send an in-game bug report to remind them.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
The buffed those being MOA’d and whikel I haven’t tested it out myself, apparently 1.5k and 3k crits from those abilities have happened. Some Mesmer’s are running away from their own MOA on fear of being pecked to death. Elite Skill with an dodge-able/avoidable cast time on a 3 min cooldown is now laughable.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
(edited by Xavi.6591)
That would explain why warriors were left in a good position and thieves got buffed.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Everyone and their mother was running with GS in WvW. I see 99% of WvW mesmers running with GS spamming 1, 2 and 4, some of them also use clones on dodge roll and shatter, but that’s sums it up.
Now GS got nerfed, oh well. There must have been a reason why everyone was using this weapon. Guess what, there are half a dozen other weapons to choose from. There are other builds which are viable.
Adapt or reroll, but stop crying please.
I agree and disagree with your statement. Yes, a lot of Mesmer’s are/were using Greatswords however the other options for a Mesmer aren’t exactly that viable either. I myself have been using staff with sword/focus and only switch to Greatsword during sieges but now that isn’t really that great of an option either.
Now the ‘better’ alternatives are only 900 range or less? Staff doesn’t work very well during a siege. How well does sword/sword work during a siege? Sword/torch? Sword/pistol?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
What happened to this thread?
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
Since Mesmers no longer have AOE when attacking towers/keeps, I predict our sammich making skill level will increase exponentially.
Angry Intent [AI] | Yak’s Bend |
This just in. I would like to report a TC Alt-F4ing while 6 of us were chasing him underwater in TCBL last night. Please report to your commanders for your promotion.
