What about the out-manned buff? It wasn’t showing on clones before which was a problem.
In my opinion, the out-manned buff should be invisible to opposing teams anyways.

If the patch is for fixing an exploit or for making me more OP, I’m all for doing it right away.
/thread
It’s not that hard to kill the NPC commander and stop the invasion. Seriously.
Once you accidentally blink in, you really should leave the tower/keep.
Out-manned buff also gives us away as it doesn’t show up on your clones.
Wow, I thought it was just me.
@osicat
wat type of armor and weapons and accessorys u need for this build?
See page 5.

I’ll leave the rest as a mystery
If you’re using sword/pistol with pistol traited, there is a bug that cause the duelist to have a 100% projectile combo finisher instead of 20%. So with 3 of them, you can easily get max stacks but that’s a bug for sure. If it’s what you’re using, enjoy it while it’s not fixed. ^^
I’m pretty sure that bug was fixed about a week ago.
Love the vids Osicat.
It still takes a zerg about 2-3 minutes to kill it. The thing is if there was NO way to kill it, the zerg would just wait there patiently, showing no cross-swords and no intention on what they are going to do next.
How I see it, at least with the ability (albeit slowly) to kill the Claimer, zergs will have that ‘oooh shiny lets kill it’ mob mentality and try to kill it. This at least lets the opposing team(s) know that something is happening there and allows them to plan accordingly (there is their zerg, go attack them from behind! or there is their zerg, let’s go take their tower, or lets cut them off, etc.)
Sometimes the mob mentality is dumb but works in your favour.
Whatever you choose, make sure to take Illusionist’s Celerity (5 points in Illusions). It is pretty much mandatory for every Mesmer build.
I thought producing clones in stealth broke stealth? Which clones can you still produce while stealthed?
Yes, not fixed yet. Hold off.
I love Twilight but unless they buff/change Greatsword, I have a hard time choosing it over staff + sword/pistol for my shatter build.
While Illusionary Elasticity (bounce attacks have one additional bounce) is great, I don’t find it compulsory for pure Shatter builds.
I much prefer Compounding Power which gives you 3% more damage for each active illusion. This 9%/6%/3% also affects your Shatters (your first illusion shatters for 9% more dmg, 2nd illusion shatters for 6% more dmg and 3rd illusion for 3% more damage).
This is actually a very nice suggestion but, couldn’t you choose this as the adept Select-able trait instead?
Most choose Precise Wrack for the first trait. It’s arguable which is better. The extra damage to all attacks while your Illusions are up is nice and consistent, but Precise Wrack helps with bursting more, most shatter builds have about 50% bonus crit damage so crits hit for 200%, making Precise Wrack average to 10% more damage versus an average if 6% with a full Shatter. However, again, it’s more reliable, Precise Wrack may or may not end up getting you the crit, you may even have critted without it, whereas 3% per Illusion is always useful.
True. I used to use Precise Wrack but the 9% extra dmg also means Blurred Frenzy and iBerzerker does more dmg too.
I’m currently sitting at 47% Crit Chance and 97 Crit damage.
Mesmer is probably my favorite class, aside from the thief and warrior. There are simply so many ways you can play it, it’s utterly ridiculous. The number of viable builds is possibly the greatest I’ve seen in any GW2 class aside from warrior and elementalist (though every class has tons of viable builds).
Here’s just a few:
- Confusion mesmer (20/0/0/20/30) [Glamour type – my current sPVP and WvW build – Staff + Scepter/Torch]
- Condition mesmer (30/0/20/0/20) [Additional bouncing type w/ Staff + any weapon – I use Sword/Torch]
- Tank mesmer (0/5/30/30/5) [increases your own toughness, health, and overall suvivability but sacrifices a lot of DPS – not recommended if you want to deal good damage – Staff + Scepter/Torch]
- Shatter mesmer (20/20/0/0/30) [attain excellent burst by summoning phantasms, letting them attack, then shattering them – in addition to your own attacks. Greatsword + Sword/Pistol recommended]
- “Balanced” mesmer (10/20/20/15/5) [my current PvE build; it fits 90% of all dungeon situations due to its great survivability and condition damage, but lacks heavy burst DPS and struggles with really large groups of mobs – I mainly use Staff + Sword/Pistol]
These are just ones I’ve tried out. There’s lots of mesmer builds out there. I’m truly astonished how many there are. Mine might not fit your playstyle because I’m in love with the staff, but it’s an all-around fun class to play, assuming you understand how to utilize your illusions and conditions to their fullest.
Keep in mind Mesmer is not designed to be an AOE damage class. If you’re looking for that, you’d be better off playing as an Engineer or Elementalist. Mesmers shine when they’re burning down a single target while hardly taking any damage themselves.
You forgot Staff Shatter Mesmer which I would argue is more popular than GS Shatter build.
In condition builds using staff, is sword + pistol with condition/precision stats viable or must one drop sword/pistol and go scepter/torch?
Yes the improvements are nice. I wish swiftness would have been done in a different way though.
Oh and trident was always better than spear. There was almost no reason to use spear that much.
For Sigils that proc, mainhand procs before offhand.
The reason I like Sigil of Force (5% dmg) on mainhand sword is because I am planning to get two swords and put the Ghastly Sword skins (the ones from AC that glow only at night) on both of them.
Then I will put 5% Dmg sigil on one sword and 10% Dmg at Night sigil on the other. That way when my sword is glowing, I will make sure I am using the 10% dmg at night sigil and when the glow stops, swap to the sword that has the straight 5% dmg sigil.
I figure swords are easier to see glowing than the pistol in my opinion.
Ebay can put up a good fight at times however I think that they have the out-manned buff more often than Yak’s Bend does. I am disappointed to see multiple occasions of some Ebay hacking (flying, etc.) going on but I am sure that is not representative of the server. The rest of the fighting has been decent though.
7 of us Yaks took a couple flame rams to Ebay’s Keep last night in EB and knocked the gate down without anyone noticing and took it without any opposition. As exciting as it was, I was disappointed that there were no defenders which really makes the whole achievement kind of lackluster.
I hope Anet comes up with a solution for those servers that have lower wvw populations during the different times of the day/night. Yak’s Bend has certainly been in the same situation when facing larger population opponents.
Mesmers are difficult to level until level 40 when you get some decent traits. They get more powerful/easier the closer you get to lvl 80. However they are one of the more difficult professions to play alongside Engineers and Elementalists so keep that in mind.
They are extremely fun though when you start to master the class but do require some effort.
Probably okay however the GPU is the weak link. It’s not a very good gaming video card. 8 GB memory is more than enough for any game out there.
Why Major and not Superior?

(copy paste, otherwise bad link)build intention: high survivability, high sustained cond damage, high burst condition damage
sustained damage with staff bleeds/burns,
burst damage with confusion (scepter, torch, shatters)have used this for the last weeks and I’m feeling a little bit overpowered in small skirmishes from 1vs3 to 5vs15. especially with the recent “shattered strentgh” buff.
stats with exotic gear (excluding rings and accessories) is about 2800 armor, 45%crit, 2000 cond damage (with 25 stack sigil, without might stacks), 16k hp.
-you are very hard to take down (high armor, 1200 blink, low cd phase retreat, chaos armor, storm, 3 stealths………)
-deal very good sustained cond damage and insane confusion burst damage (3k-8k confusion ticks).
-you can take fortified camps solo, can roam behind enemy line (a lot of stealth)I don’t want to sound conceited but I can’t remember being stomped or downed in a 1vs1. And you can bring pain in group fights. People tend to ignore conditions when they feel safe, for example in a 2vs6 situation. And suddenly half their team is gone because they hit themselves with 5k confusions :P
hf
Nice! What gear/weapons/jewelery did you choose?
When outmanned, each person should have their own personal armoured tank spawn in front of them for their personal enjoyment.
On Yak’s Bend, new Commanders are taught by other Commanders. Sure, some Commanders have more respect than others but that comes with earning it. If a new Commander is willing to learn, Yak’s Bend alliance along with their weekly Commander meetings are willing to instruct.
Players soon realize if a Commander is worth following or not and will follow a different Commander or change maps completely if they don’t agree with a Commanders tactics or reputation.
I prefer sportsmanship myself.
If I do any emote at all, it is /bow or /salute when it was a good 1v1 fight. Otherwise I am on my merry way to find more challenges.
Who needs skill when we have numbers! – YB OFFICIAL MOTTO.
This is why they got stomped in Tier 3, because without having a major numbers advantage they were lost and didn’t know what to do.None of the servers in this matchup were stomped in Tier 3.
The only reason a server moved from T3 to T4 was because CD had a blowout victory in T4 and had to move up. FA and Yak’s had less than a 10k point difference at the end of the match. Yaks even scored higher than FA at times.
The more you know!
FA has less of a population then YB does, this is what makes it funny!
YB had the least population out of TC/CD/FA/YB (it’s in that order). And they didn’t “get stomped” in T3. They did just as well compared to CD and FA.
It’s a sad state of affairs when YB are being branded as a zerg server with no skill in tier 4 because we considered them the exact opposite of that in T3.
Finally someone who knows what they are talking about.
Is Cond. Duration required for a Condition build or can one go just raw Cond. Damage (Runes of the Undead)?
You can use the same Sigil that you have on your Pistol for your OH Sword.
I am mostly Staff + Sword/Pistol or Focus
Staff – Sigil of Energy (You gain 50% of your endurance when you swap to this weapon while in combat – 9 sec CD.)
Sword (mainhand) – Sigil of Force (5% damage)
Pistol – Sigil of Fire (30% chance to cause flame blast on critical hit causing AoE damage. 5 sec CD)
I plan to get a 2nd Sword, the Ghastly Sword from AC that only glows at night and use Sigil of Night on it for the 10% damage.
I often switch to Feedback when fighting a zerg or during a siege/being sieged. I can often push an entire zerg back myself by dropping Chaos Storm and Feedback on an enemy zerg and I laugh every time when I see numerous targets quickly down themselves.
Mesmer’s don’t have the lowest health pool.
I don’t know all the professions base health but there are 3 categories:
12k – Thieves, Elementalists?, Guardians?
15k – Mesmers, ?, ?
18k – Necros, Warriors?, ?
Yeah was hoping to hit 1m Karma in case I want to make a legendary.
Oh Hai, you’re on Yak’s Bend as well!
:)

I’ve been playing a confusion build in wvw lately and love it. I’ll send you some links and info when I get home from work, hard to do anything on a phone lol
If you wouldn’t mind posting the links here, that would be great. I am in the process of slowly building my confusion gear set. Currently have three Khilbron’s (Rabid) pieces and a Rampager’s ring.
Divinity but they are very expensive.
For WvW, I would go Rune of Air instead.
Sigil of Fire and Sigil of Air both share a 5 sec cd. You would have a 5 sec CD on lightning right after the flame AOE.

The Legendary Yak’s Bend server is still looking for more WvW players. We could use some more support for all timezones. We especially need more Oceanic and EU presence to have fun controlling the maps.
If you have never set foot in WvW and want to come give it a try, we have a lot of great players and guilds that would be happy to show you or your guild on how to WvW.
Come individually or bring your guild and join our amazing Yak’s Bend WvW alliance today!
Don’t get 100% World Completion if you are a Mesmer.
Currently the completion star does not show up on your clones making you an easier target.
(edited by Xavi.6591)
No, there are no in-game macros but I wish there were.
I don’t think people put in bad data or purposely put in bad data to screw up the timers but any server resets do mess up the timers.
GW = Guild Wars so GW is reserved?
Maybe?
Keep in mind that Anet has already commented that there is/are swiftness buff(s) coming to the Mesmer.
Even then, the star can be slightly visible through some gates/walls and terrain in WvW which may give away your location. Thieves may want to avoid it as well.
Don’t finish 100% map completion if you are a Mesmer.
ProTip: Don’t finish 100% map completion if you are a Mesmer. That is all.
Thieves and D/D Elementalists
Big no. It is working fine as it is.
You can still Alt-F4 out of any “auto-logout” option.
Wow. This thread is hilarious. Correct me if I am wrong but the OP wants to keep his death count (/death) at zero? Because?
