SMC should be turned into a sentry worth 35 points, he respawns randomly between 1-5 minutes. Nice big open field to fight over one npc, have at it.

How to save WvW

it is the fault of the community that gw2 is going to die, because you all asked for more skill based gameplay, but you forgot about the beginners, so no beginner will have fun in wvw or pvp anymore since bunker meta is gone, mm and turret engineer is nerfed. Players will stop playing and new players will stay in pvE.

So the community wanted wvw and pvp to die and I warned about it a few years ago. Just bring easy to play builds back that every beginner can master and will be able to sustain to even experienced pvp players, maybe then beginners will start and stay to play competitive again, else game will be dead very soon. And remove gear advantage in wvw exotic should be the best gear available in wvw.

But it will never happen, so I will continue killing beginners straight away from spawn, until you all realize how stupid you were when you asked this game to be more skill based.

I assume you blame the pve community, because wvw players didn’t ask for traits to be overhauled yet again, they didn’t ask for stability to be nerfed to uselessness, they didn’t ask for conditions to blow up people, they didn’t ask for elite specs to be overpowered than vanilla.

They asked for skilled gameplay and were given passive spam boons spam conditions gameplay instead.

And in this case what was the alternative? They don’t release raids until they had finished designing the legendary armour? Or release raids but don’t allow anyone to collect Legendary Insights until the armour is released, so people who have been raiding all that time have to do it all over again? I don’t think players would be happy with either of those.

Don’t think any other company releases something like raids without the main rewards for them like 1-2 years later.

You are right, any other company would have let you farmed gear for 1-2 years that instantly become useless in the next major update.

In those 1-2 years you would be running 10-20 different zones to get those upgrades. Not one zone over and over and over and over again for 1 set released 1-2 years later.

There’s nothing special about gw2 raids to make them less stale that other games raids. There’s no “additional challenge” once you’ve beat it and have it on farm status. Some people may not like the concept of upgrading gear, but it is one of the factors for pushing people to continue doing raids, upgrading your gear, overcoming the challenge, conquering it to move on to the next challenge.

Lastly going from exotic to ascended to legendary is an upgrade, a stat upgrade from exotic to ascended, a convenience upgrade with stat and rune swapping from ascended to legendary, they are still upgrades, which require grinding work to earn. Do you like grinding for long term upgrades, or getting upgrades in every new area you go to, that’s the difference.

WvW: Your expectations?

If you didn’t play before HoT you missed out on those groups. There use to be a lot more roamers, and havoc groups 5-10 running around that could make an impact to maps and scoring (I use to run in a guild like that). HoT and it’s additions broke a lot of that and these days the roamers have either turned to a couple annoying classes using annoying or broken specs, or they’ve just grown into those havoc sized pin sniping gank groups. The havoc players either left or merged with bigger groups, because it’s more effective and safer to run in bigger groups these days for everything because of boon sharing and condition bombs.

You can put in a lot more objectives but they have to have a purpose or people won’t bother much, like the shrines or bloodlust.

P.S they probably should take a look at ESO and what they’ve done with their systems. Like their port system to structures and how capturing small objectives play a bigger role in that, like if you capture the 3 smaller objectives around a keep you lock out the ports to that building, taking an objective in the middle of their port system breaks the line of ports. An example for gw2 you could use the lattice system of ports (port from structures not from anywhere the only port from anywhere should be citadel) it would go from citadel -> garrison -> nwt -> nwc -> bay -> swc -> swt -> enemy spawn, if nwt was taken it breaks the ports to bay, which makes nwt much more valuable to hold, the same for the camp. Naturally it’s a lot easier to take the camp to disrupt the flow and now your roamers and small groups become more important in recapturing and keeping that point safe. This would work well on desert borderlands.

You could even use this on the ppt flow, you would only earn ppt from structures if they were connected to your garrison, making the mid points more important for roamers and small groups to maintain.

ESO also handles structures differently, all walls and doors are basically already t3 upgrades always, when a wall goes down you have to repair it even after a capture it doesn’t repair automatically, so supply would become much more important.

Little things like that they need to check other rvr games out there and see what worked, and what could maybe work for a gw2 version of it.

Eotm kicks players after 4 hours, which is more than an average play session. Now you all want to kick players after 1 hour? yeah that’s going to get disruptive and annoying to players, especially on a reset night. It still doesn’t cover the changes that happen within that hour, 5 mins into a match of 50v50v50, 20 could leave one side and then what?, it goes 50v50v30 for next 55mins. In trueanimus method that kicks 40 players out from the other 2 sides to eotm, your method kicks everyone after an hour. Kicking players is not the answer.

Also the search doesn’t work properly, lol, that’s been broken for years, it’s one of the reasons why this forum sucks, and they apparently can’t/won’t fix it. Go input some simple wvw terms or hell even terms from your own post into the search and you get a couple post from today or none. You have to use external searches.

Also I said I’m not going to track them for you, if you have been reading you would see them every once in a while, it’s like desert bl lovers, they come out of the woodwork every once in a while in the desert bl threads.

Kinda funny how people think Mag been tanking for like 2 months now, maybe players transferred, or maybe a server that’s mostly dedicated to fighting doesn’t go out and actively ppt. You might want to try that to drop back to t2.

Also someone had to take the third spot in T1 it was either FA or SoS. FA seems to be the stronger choice.

Dynamic map caps has been suggested many times, but forcing players to leave maps to eotm for a magic find buff? won’t go over well with players sorry, especially if a commander is one of those that are randomly ported lol. 10 people logging out of wvw to boot 20 enemies would be some nice trolling.

If you want to do the cap you have to set it to middle population currently on, setting it to the lowest might be too low, and then that triggers the queue for the highest population. You don’t kick people out of maps, you just don’t let anymore in on the highest side until they get under the cap or the other sides come up. There should still always be a minimum to the map cap before the queue kicks in of like 20, so that a decent sized guild can jump in.

Because they said they balance worlds to the tiers, while it would be nice to balance every world to each other, it’s not possible.

Obviously it would be great if they could match every world to each other, and they even proposed a plan with adding smaller worlds to add more pieces to the puzzle of linking those worlds together to similar sizes, but the community said no. Also there are still players who prefer lower populations or higher one than the general medium ground.

Now, do you get it?

its not a choice for players to want low populations because of lag, its not even the players fault but i do know one thing, its kitten fault to have that outnumbered buff in the first place

There are people from ET that complained about being shoved into T1 in the first links, there are people every once in a while come to remind us in here they prefer lower population servers because they don’t get blobbed or zerged down. I personally don’t, but they exist. If they want to give a shout out now that would be great, but I’m not going to track every WHO out there, read the forums often and you see what’s going on.

Never expected it to be available anywhere except for raids, don’t know why anyone else would, don’t even care to put an ascended vendor in wvw.

They put in all that time to create armor that really the only part that will be legendary is the animation not the looks, and for a small portion of the playerbase, makes no sense to me. But then again when you can’t offer any vertical progression it’s the only thing they can do. Also does every armor since HoT have to have pointy stuff everywhere, the light armor looks so terrible.

Gem store revenues have not slipped down, so yes, however much you hate how the gem shop works, it seems to be profitable.

Sales of the game are lower, which is expected for an older game and long after an expansion releases. HoT & GW2 didn’t do poorly, they just haven’t done as well as NCSOFT investors expected. (Which isn’t good, it’s just not as dire like various rumors have suggested.)

You’re saying that the revenue is down because the sales of the game is lower than past years, and yet HoT didn’t do poorly. Ok.

Oh I have. I haven’t participated in the last several dbl threads, the only reason I popped up in this one was because of the dev’s snarky comment.

I’ve about given up on expecting anet to put forth any real effort as far as WvW is concerned which means it’s doubtful they will remove the dbl. I just avoid it unless I’m short on time and need an easy daily. Hell I can even solo my daily keep capture there without any fear of being interrupted.

I will however continue to debate blatantly false statements like Spurnshadow claiming, “The majority of people either like it or are ok with it. I think the amount of people who would not play because their guild or commander is running on DBL is almost non-existent.”

He may like the map and that’s fine but that statement is complete kitten and everyone knows it. You can’t go more than a couple days on this forum without seeing a thread pop up asking to get rid of the dbl. Any time people call for help capping or defending something in the dbl in team chat there are multiple responses along the lines of “kitten that kittening map.” If he really thinks every one is fine with it just because he likes the map then he is fooling himself.

I don’t disagree.
The two threads I hate seeing popping up every other week is the desert bl and tournaments.

I’ve tried to remind neutral in this discussion going back a year. I was one of the first to jump on the simultaneous borderlands bandwagon because I know there are some players that like it, personally I don’t, but everyone deserves to play on the map they want at all times, not on a 6 month rotation. Some people can’t live with that compromise for some reason, even though they have alpines on two other maps to play if they wish.

If you like the map that’s great, it’s there for you to play.
The same goes for the other side, the map was voted in, live with it and move on.
The map obviously has a major love hate in here, post suggestions for changes and move on, people should stop trying to convince either side their opinion is right, the map is there, play it or don’t, some of us are tired of seeing the year of bickering over it.

I have to think #FakeScarcity works against sales as much as it works for them. I have moved on from wanting and waiting for an item to re-appear in the store way more than I have wanting, waiting, & buying. That is substantial lost sales from me.

Again they wouldn’t continue doing this if it was not more profitable. Do you really think they are doing this to be obtuse, lose money, and anger players?

because you still define tiers as population, why not define population as population and balance the linkings based on https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World not “tiers”

forget about tiers for a moment and lets be real, if we want close match ups then population should be balanced now the tiers can kick in if the population per skirmish is balanced

Hello everyone,
I know a lot of EU players are asking why Far Shiverpeaks is linked with Whiteside Ridge and Fissure of Woe so I figured I would clear up why this link was made.

Our goal with World Linking is good matches. This doesn’t necessarily mean that worlds in tier 4 are intended to be competitive with worlds in tier 1, but ideally every world in tier 4 should be competitive with the other worlds in tier 4 and likewise every world in tier 1 should be competitive with the other worlds in tier 1. It would be nice if worlds in tier 4 were competitive with tier 1, but it’s not realistic since the distribution of players across worlds is not consistent.

The issue is compounded in EU, due to the fact that we are avoiding linking worlds with different languages. For example, there is only one Spanish world, so they’ll never be linked and thus might never be competitive in tier 1 worlds. Similarly making each set of German worlds have equivalent populations has proved equally impossible because if we were to link them they would have a much higher population than other worlds, making match-ups against them not competitive.

Far Shiverpeaks was linked with two worlds because we needed a third world that would have similar population to the French worlds, specifically Jade Sea and Vizunah Square so that the matchup could be competitive. Far Shiverpeaks, Whiteside, Ridge, and Fissure of Woe linked together gave us the best population to create competitive match-ups for that tier.

It is also important to keep in mind that this is the very first week of match-ups and it will take time before glicko adjusts worlds into their correct tiers.
