Aren’t players in stealth hidden from other players by the data not being sent from the servers to the client? Otherwise I’d imagine there would have been hacks for seeing stealthed players from day 1.

I have never had anyone follow me while I was stealthed, especially not to the degree that would make me suspicious of them hacking. A simple 180 about-face would be more than enough to check something like this, especially if they were do it at the same time as you (and multiple times).

This does not happen too often as those using the hack can be easily reported as it is too suspicious to often use. I have encountered this a few times as well some of my guild mates.

I would have to see a statement by a Dev to make me think otherwise. I can’t imagine players who are stealthed continue to have that information passed to other players’ clients.

This is how most games make use of GMs when they are trying to catch cheaters. The server does not pass GM information to other clients unless the GM enables it. This makes detecting the GM literally impossible since the clients are not receiving information pertaining to the GM.

Disable inviting people from other servers in WvW pls. Some people get really mad, they invite you to their party to look up your name and then spam LFM requests with your name on GW2LFG.

Read the text?! Some kitten people invite you to their party in wvw when they loose. I usually don’t accept invites from other server in wvw, but they can see your name even if you don’t accept the invite.

Better solution would be to not show the name, if you don’t accept the invite.

They do NOT see your name if you dont accept the invite!!!….
So if you dont want them to see your name…. then it is your fault if you accept!

It already does this. It says <server name> <rank> until you accept the invite.
Ex: if you invited me to a party, it would say Henge of Denravi Raider until I hit that accept button.

Only until they take a waypoint. That was the bug I mentioned.

If the invite remains pending and the person who sent the invite takes a waypoint (key here is probably so they get a loading screen)…then once they finish zoning they will see your Character/Account name and not just Invader anymore.

The only way to avoid abuse of this bug is to decline immediately, before they can waypoint, which isn’t always possible.

They just need to fix the bug of being able to see account/player name if you waypoint while having a pending invite.

Cross server invites themselves are not harmful (assuming the bug isn’t abused) since you can just decline them.

All I see now are Tower Humpers, Zergers, and overall just horrible tendencies. What happened to the Mag of old where you could find roamers? Did they all leave or something?

I literally ate 2 MoA’s in a row and still lived……..wtf is up w/ y’all anymore?

Idk if you’re Ebay or FA. Earlier I was solo roaming around FA’s circle of camps. Probably 5+ cycles flipping every camp. Ran into a couple nice 1v3s though I lost them all. Several easy 1v2s. Didn’t find any challenging 1v1s. For the most part my roaming was PvE in WvW… bad luck I guess?

Before you’d be able to see TONS of mags roaming. Now you still have a few, but no where NEAR what Mag once had.

Its honestly saddening.

EBay and Mag seem to have about equal roaming populations from what I’ve seen so far.

In my experience, the roamers (myself included) really come out to play weekday nights after the weekend zergs dissipate. Spending more than 10 minutes at ruins island on weekend evenings and you’re guaranteed to be mowed down by a 20-30+ zerg.

You run away though and wait for back up

edit: Illusion is a ~500 member PvX guild. Most are not WvW/PvP oriented, so it wouldn’t surprise me if a fellow Asuran Thief ran in a 1v1 situation. However, our core WvWers are heavily skewed towards roaming, and many solo roam.

That was literally the only contact with your guild that I’ve had.

He isn’t saying they should be instantly killed. But if they stand there for the full duration of 3x MS on top of them, yeah they should be killed for their stupidity.

Currently, this does not happen. Only some of the 25 get hit. That 25 could easily stand in 3x MS without a single one (possibly a couple at most) being downed.

OP is ignoring a key factor in picking a solo roaming class: the ability to abuse how large the WvW maps are (compared to sPvP) and the fact that nothing is keeping a player confined to an area (such as sPvP capture points).

This means classes such as Thieves/Mesmers/DD-Eles/etc. will be favored due having more skills that allow them to disengage and escape zergs or situations they cannot win. Usually this skill is stealth, but can also be blinks or high mobility skills (Warrior Rush, Ele Ride the Lightning, Ranger Swoop, etc).

This is simply a result of having a more “open” PvP environment and isn’t a negative attribute of WvW.

Supposedly they have a strong NA with very skilled players. I think SOR NA can give them a run for their money…..

Assuming this comment wasn’t sarcastic (edit: just noticed who I quoted; was definitely a sarcastic comment. Oh well, will leave my response below):

I used to be on BG (Sept-Jan), so I know how strong SoR’s NA is. Mag doesn’t come anywhere close SoR’s NA in terms of sheer numbers. At most Mag queues one zone during weekday nights. Once a week you might see EB + 1 BL queued. Even on reset night you get 2 non-queued BLs.

Last time I fought SoR they were, by their own admission, queueing 3-4 zones on an average weekday night. And from what I understand, it’s only gotten worse with their upward movement and transfers (30-60 min queues in NA primetime? Please correct me if this is wrong).

Mag does have a fantastic roamer population to the contrary of what Jinks.2057 posted. I don’t think any servers who have fought us in the past few months would disagree with that.

Yeah, it’s pretty bad when their Thieves don’t even want to 1v1. It’s so weird. This is like the complete opposite of YB. YB’s upleveled players would even charge you for 1v1s.

My friend and I duo roamed on DB BL for over 2 hours last night. We died once to some roamers……….from SBI. Go figure.

I’m going to be honest here, i’ve never seen a group of players (Dragonbrand) as bad as these guys…I mean….when SoS played, they tended to zerg pretty badly… but if you caught them 1vs1 they tended to stay and fight..DB on the other, Runs at the first sign that they’re alone or at best 2v1 odds.

I can attest to the accuracy of this statement.

Kaineng mostly stuck to zergs, but they would put up a decent 1v1 or skirmish. Worst case they’d at least try. Can’t say the same for DB..they just beeline for the nearest zerg/tower/keep.

Compared a server like Yak’s Bend, which has a very healthy roamer / 1v1 population, DB falls a little short. Don’t take it personally; each server has their own unique population distribution.

In my terminology survivability = not dying.
I am not claiming that thief can soak up as much damage as a bunker guardian, but getting out of the harms way e.g. using shadowstep, evades and stealth = surviving.

If a fight goes bad, which happens often, guardian has much weaker chances of getting out alive if his entire team gets wiped.

Then why did you quote me in the first place? The two main points of my post were 1) Invulnerability and 2) Protection. These are abilities that give durability in the absence of Stealth.

Once other classes run out of dodges, they still have access to Protection / Invul / Blinks. Thieves only have access to Blinks and Stealth. If you can’t understand why Stealth exists for Thieves, then I’m not sure what to say.

Most WvW guilds don’t run “bunker Guardians” (‘bunkering’ has a specific meaning which holds zero relevance to WvW), it’s a pretty poor attempt at a riposte anyway since Guards are taken in large part for their passives/boon-sharing.

Bunker specifies the build type and the terminology has spilled-over from sPvP, regardless of its original meaning. Plenty of people run Bunker-style builds in WvW, especially on Guardian, Ranger, Engi, D/D Ele, etc.

I’m not even being egocentric; I already have the ideal Ascended backpiece for my build. I would just like to see more availability (is that ever a bad thing?) since it will only enhance WvW, especially for those who don’t have an Ascended back already.

I’d rather them have the agony resist built in. So far that effect is the only thing worth spending a dime to get infusions. And that way we won’t have to farm two ascended sets to do both WvW and fractals.
