Open world I’d say guardian staff 1 is the easiest tagging machine in the game xD. However silverwastes lockdown mesmer gonna be extremly useful against all those trashers and terragriffs. Halting strike, dazing and damage mantra, 66002, sword pistol and gs, you will be extremly strong in silver wastes.

As for dungeons and fotm, mesmer has interrupt, instant condi cleanse, boonstrip, best reflection, low damage except for bosses where you can maintain phants / burst reflection.

Mesmer is sometimes extremly strong, sometimes extremly weak. It’s not an easy to go class, but it’s fun to master.

I hope – I really hope they fix them in hot( but the silence here is … sad

I sometimes pick 46040 for a strong MoP. There are quite a lot encounters where you don’t need stability, where you have 5 targets, can charge during skips, etc where those 3 loads become very handy. I also use it for places where I want the GS for aoe and want to replace the AA, like at ascalon fractal, or when I want to replace the scepter AA, aka Mossman. I find MoP highly underrated if you ask me.

Btw you shouldn’t compare 56050 with ANY none focus reflection builds. For sure they will deal more damage.

Your post really made me wonder if you are serious about what you’re talking, or if you’re just joking around with what you said. Since the first part is just wrong and the 2nd part made more sense, I guess you indeed are serious. Let me help / infrom you a bit about the Engineer.

The engineer has the 2nd HIGHEST aoe dps / 3rd highest single target dps of all classes in gw2. The none passive damage dps of the engi is around 14’000 in a good party. If you calculate the vulnerability stacks he maintains on bosses, adding the damage the others deal more because of him to his damage dealt, the engi gets up to 22’500 damage per second. The engi also has almost only 5 target skills wich makes him superior against many targets, where other classes mostly cleave or use their none aa abilities on a long cd to hit 5 targets. Against single target, mostly champs or legis, the vuln stacking is superior compared to other classes. Engi alone can maintain 15 stacks vuln on them (even though champ or legis reduce the vuln dura by 50%). “a class in contest for arguably the lowest base DPS” is really silly – silly

Piddly 1.6k aa in full zerk means you have a terrible party, no might and vulnerability at all. Good buffed aa hits for 5k, yet you should not use the rifle aa unless there are 20 targets in a row :P … like caudecus in that barn where the rifle dudes shoot at you. The grenade aa deals anyway way more damage, 50%, and stacks more vuln.
Besides – your friend (mesmer) gs auto attack takes 1.4 sec to do, rifle aa needs 0.84 sec. Rifle has a much stronger aa, also penetrates infinite targets, mes GS only 3.

You only should get 73% crit chance since fury and warrior banner grant you 27% crit chance. Never go over 100%, unless you knwo your enemies are above lv80.

Zerk or kitten gear isn’t a huge difference as you call it. If you are insecure, just go full zerk, especially when you are new. The goal is 63-73% crit chance, but full zerk is totally fine. The personal skill level makes a bigger difference than those little stats.

Btw for your traits, take precise sights over rifle mod. Rifle mod is good, but 10% dmg for 2 of your skills in your rotation aren’t worth the passive damage of all the vuln stacks you can do.

I love the mesmer in pve, however I’ve been playing him for a long time now. I think the mesmer is only useful for the team when he exactly knows what he’s doing, unlike a warrior who simply can summon the banners and faceroll on semigood weapons wich is also kinda efficient enough. I guess that’s the reason why mesmer players often become elitists. But I have to agree, I’m guilty myself, I hate it too to have a semigood mesmer in party. Every other class would be more useful then. >_> but still, Mesmer are awesome and you can do so much with the class. As Archangel said: you ahve to be creative!

Fry, the 54050 build is for places where you should or can take no mantras at all. For example dredge fractal. It’s simply a glamour damage version of 64040, max utility would be 44060.

While using 66002 vs 54050, how many mantras did you use? Can you calculate it with 1 2 3 4 mantras for me or is it too much work?

There are 3 on clone death traits, one with random conditions, one with confusion and one with cribble. Equipping at least one of them cuases your illusions to explode.

54050 is the best none mantra focused dps build that still goes for wardens feedback. But you should go like this:

• Go for sword+focus / +sword – the greatsword is a specific weapon most of the time only seen in fotm where everything you need is cc / aoe (like ancient war fractal).
• Therefore you can swap the GS trait for the signet trait for more heal and more damage (more phants).
• Try to use the sword offhand instead of the pistol if you think the phantasm survives it. Those are the reasons why:
• Trait for the sword instead of the pistol. This way you doubletrait your weapons (main hand and off hand).
• Using the sword creates a daze synergy with the minor traits of the dominion trait line – skill 4# is a penetrating dazing bolt wich applies 5-8 stacks vuln for 10 sec wich is superior!
• You now have the hardest hitting block in the game! Congrats!
• Don’t take menders purity – go for glamour masteries for decreasing the CD of your 2 important utility skills by 20%!

It’s a good beginner build, not focusing on mantras. Relativly easy to play and needs no retraiting. You can also go 44060 for more utility, traiting +2 sec glamour duration, menders purity or medics feedback in the last trait line. I suggest the increased glamour duration.

In a short sentence: The damage the team deals more with your additional vuln stacks on bosses via assassin gear is higher than the personal damage loss for not going zerker.

This is also because “low” power builds scale better with might than those who have high power.

Try get a 63-73% crit chance.

This metabattle guide is surprisingly good. Take an kitten zerker mix, make sure you will reach something between 63-73% crit chance.

As for runes it also depends on your budget. Optimal are strength or scholar, depending on how good your maties and you are. For sigils, I carry 2 rifles around, one assassin with +15% dmg and one zerker with +5% dmg and 7% crit chance (one day one night).

If you are rather poor and new to the game, take the rune of the flame legion and unse the bomb kit in parties.You and your allies will keep the burn up, don’t worry. Those runes are cheap until you get something better. If you can afford something more expensive but can’t keep 90% hp, you also can go for pack runes. For your rifle, at least +5% dmg +7% crit.

To bring you back to reality – warrior simply wasn’t fair. Warrior used to have almost highest damage, most hp, armor, best buffs, they had everything. The damage reduction is pure fairness, you won’t get it back, deal with it.

The reason why Ele, War and Engi are masterrace in the current dungeon and fotm runs is, because no other class will increase the party damage more than them (exception reflection dungeons). The engi has the best vuln stacks, ele highest dmg and fury, war tons of passive buffs (banners) and might. Engi can be replaced with a 2nd ele going for the glyph of the storms in shorter bossfights though. But there will always be at least 1 war and 1 ele in every good party! Everything else is bad!

Ranger are good in pve and pvp. About pve, the main problem is that they are extremly difficult to play efficient. If the ranger isn’t played well, he’s weak. I’d say to reposition the pet and sword aa in an aoe situation aswell weapon and pet management in general makes him one of the hardest pve classes.

Warrior is still masterrace for pve, bringing most dps improvement, yet it very boring to play since phalanx is the way to go. A 2nd warrior? Not needed. If there is one, he can go full dps wich is definitly more fun than phalanx.

How do you have more escape with a condi build than with cele?

Is this about PvE or PvP? If its about PvE there is not much to say:
Engi has more damage and can do everything but (!): The guard grants protection, aegis and stability wich the engi can’t. The guard also has a better projectile reflection and protection than the engi has.

Bomb kit and flame thrower it is Grenades become strong with master traits, so I’d say rush the trait “speedy kits” as fast as you can, get your rifle and use Flame Thrower, Bomb Kit and Elixier Gun. Bombs are still the best thing though

So your TB skills are regenerating mist, throw wrench, analyze and rocket thing. While attacking with the rifle, I beleve only analyze will have the orange color, the others won’t. While not attacking → using the toolkit, the others will, but analize wont. Should be right like this.

And I thought I’m going crazy … Yea I noticed it too, I just thought I forgot to retrait but nooooo, the skill is a mesmer skill and ofc it has to be broken … AFTER IT WORKED FINE >_> I don’t know how they do it, but they did it – again >_>

Btw there is another funfact affecting the static discharge. But this takes us back to the introduction of ascended gear.

Weapon damage doesn’t affect kit damage. That’s why ANet buffed the kit dmg by 5% if you are wearing an ascended or legendary weapon. What the connection is to static discharge? Well there is a hidden weapon damage while using a kit, wich is exotic like. I beleve it is that way because (now it comes) static discharge deals less damage while using a kit than while using an ascended+ weapon. So if you want stronger discharges, stay on rifle lol!

Oh now I get it! At least ONE part of it. It’s true that the instant cast skills deal half damage, but the reason why they didn’t on pupets is, because my char® automaticly stats firing with his rifle – means he’s doing somthing with cast time. If I equip a shield only, or simply disable the chain auto atack feature for the rifle, he won’t be able to attack and therefore does the weaker version of SD. So it seems a bit cross-bugged with the auto attack.

But now the question is, when will the normally strong static discharges become weak ones. MORE TESTINGS REQUIRED! But first my pizza – yummi ^.^ !

Final Edit:
I think I got it now. There are 2 rules:

• SD will deal high damage while using toolbelt skills with a cast time, SD will deal reduced damage while using toolbelt skills without a cast time, aka instant skills (also no legendary animation).
• While performing an auto attack, during the cast time, rule one is reversed. So instant skills = high damage and cast time skills = reduced damage.

Ok this is strange – if i aim in the air, rifle turret shots always the weak one, while ram and toolkit do the strong one. Been doing this now for 5 minutes. However if I aim at a puppet in silver wastes, it’s completly random… My brain hurts

Edit: It seems ALL instant skills do the weak version of the discharge, and those who have a casttime the strong one. But this only works if you shot in the air, when you target something it’s completly random. However I have to test how it works with untargetable skill like throw elixiers.

Can’t be right. I’m constantly using the toolbelt skills of the ram, rifle turret and tool kit. And all 3 skills sometimes do the predator shot with 800 dmg and sometimes the lightning bolt with 400 dmg. The same skill can do both.

I’ve read the other thread aswell and I beleve they just made rash decisions by testing is quickly. They even tried to explain it with dual skills like rifle turret + blow it up or mines + explode or somthing. But that’s simply not correct.

So … I never used static discharge much in pve (ye shame on me! u.u) but i made some tests with it and it seems some bolts are affected by my predator.

I mean some are displayed as lightning bolts and others look like predator shots. But what’s really strange is when they are predator shots they deal double damage … I tried on puppets in silver wastes – lightning deals 400-500, predator shots 700-800.

Anyone knows more?

SD builds are ok for open world or solo content. However in a party they will never reach the potential of a triple kit engi.

This is how timewarp should work …

Scepter is a weapon that finds use in ranged single target power build combat together with a pistol or sword, for example against mai thrin or moss man.

You can use it as a condition weapon when you are solo pve player, for fighting against bosses, champs etc.

However the mesmer makes use of every weapon, you won’t be able to pick a weapon and stay on it, play an ele instead.

Since I play condi every thief melts after they open with their elite poison and get a block from scepter in their face, followed by a 2-3 clone F2. They mostly die immediately.

If you watch the trailer you can see how the mesmer shatters his clock skill. He poops butterflies at the 2nd “boom”. I beleve too that the chronomancer will no longer use phantasms, maybe even clones.

You can toggle your specialisation when ooc. So it’s possible to be a more specific class, choose A or B for situation X.

I like it.

BD is only good for solo kiting mobs in circles. The mines won’t explode if they spawn directly on a mob. They have to walk over it, so stacking BD won’t work. For parties MA is also much stronger since it’s most of the time a simple 10% dmg increase.

Don’t use a shield

Engineer is either going for scholar or strength, according on how much of a might stacker guy you are. Ranger is for mes or ranger imo. Sweetspot for crit chance at engi is between 63%-73%, imo 73% is better but will be 10% wasted if enemies are under 50% hp :/ However perma fury and banner are not always granted, especially not vs bosses in fotm.

It would be nice to meet up for some exchange of ideas. We might both learn something new. I’m form the EU servers though :S

Kits were balanced before the introduction of the ascended gear. they were balanced to exotic gear. When there was a global +5% dmg buff, it would be unfair if the engi wouldn’t recive it. Why do you hate so much against kits? Is it either because you hate to use them and are a pve-SD-belever? Or do you simply hate engis? Your arguments – if one even can call them so – flaw and are just stupid.

I’ve got 1800 instead of 2000 condi dmg with givers, yet with runes and 04406 and 40% food I’ve got 75% condi dura. Now what’s more awesome here:

2000 condi dmg à 75% condi dura,
1800 condi dmg à 95% condi dura.

€dit: my thoughts were, I’ve never gonna keep torment, burn or confusion permanently on my enemies, and full rabid wich has no vita with givers who has seems nice to me.

Got a quick question here, if you use condi in wvw or solo pve, what stats do you use for your equipment?

• condi dmg > precision = toughness (vulnerable to condi due less hp, better heal due low hp and armor, 50% crit chance for bleed procs by crits)
• condi dmg > vitality = power (less heal due high hp pool and low armor, more personal damage, not so vulnerable against condis)

and do you use givers weapons? they lack of condi dmg, but 20% condi dura seems quite amazing :S help
