I tried to argue too about eviscerate but A) the high damage of eviscerate is still less than the damage you lost by using axe 5 instead of aa and I have eviscerate up on cd even wihtout using axe 5.

If it’s not ment to be useful for dungeons and fotm, then it’s ment to be doomed. The only reason why it’s maybe viable in some pvp builds is because it deals more damage there.

I’m sorry I missed to tell you I was talking about dungeons and fotm. The damage vs 5 is lower than axe aa vs 3 targets. The whirl is (even if it works) still useless since that little bit for (most dps of a whirl) burning isn’t gonna change anything, also it’s random where the bolts fly.

Even pure axe builds prefer to use Axe/Mace + /Sword for dungeons, since sword #4 is a good single target dps increase. I wish the axe offhand skill #5 would have just the same dps as the axe aa, or at least 80% of it. This would make it viable against crowds, 4 or 5 targets, vuln stacking while gaining adrenalin too very quickly. Right now it’s too weak in pve (not open world) content.

Heya war friends!

I’ve tried some phalanx stuff but right now I’m not sure how it works the best. Everyone gets might when I hit with my GS, yet those stacks drop very fast when I swap to axe/mace. I’ve considered to stay on GS for the sake of my team, even though it’s a personal (!) dps loss.

So either I go 06062 and stay on GS with 100% crit chance on full zerk (GS sigils: +5% dmg / might on crit).
Or I go 05063 and swap between GS and axe/mace with a 100% crit chance (GS sigils: +7% crit / might on crit).

I’m really confused by the whole situation and my main questions are:

• Shall I camp GS for might and have +5% dmg sigil?
• Shall I swap GS and Axe/Mace with reduced CD on swap, but losing the +5% dmg sigil on GS?
• Is the personal swap damage worth the team might damage? Vice versa.
• If I camp GS, what 2nd weapon shall I take?

There was also a bug that norn mesmer cloud become a leopard and then dodge for another 100% damage clone leopard. You cloud become a 4-leo-army xD wrecking everything!!! xD

I think racial elites should be free and available since lv1.

I think it’s totally fine that the war only has limited range, 1200 seems more than ok if you ask me. That a ranger has more range, 1500, is totally fine aswell. But I understand that the physics of the projectile should not allow you to extrend that range, even though, 2000 is too much. Still 100-200 range extrention should be negated to 0.

The axe aa deals 7.5% more damage than 100b, so it still would be worse. What is needed is utility such as projectile absrob or unblockable or something rather than more damage.

Hello warrior friends!

I have tested all the warrior weapons to decide with wich one I want to stick and I noticed that the axe in the offhand is extremly underwhelming.

Skill #4 is barely ok, since it provides fury and the damage is slightly higher than the auto attack (axe), yet the last hit of the auto attack is stronger again wich is not so nice :S

But skill #5 is literally completely useless. First I thought “well it’s weaker than the aa, but it hits 5 targets instead of 3, maybe it shines against 5 targets”. WRONG it still deals less damage per second on 5 targets than the aa does on 3. Now I ask you – why is that? I’ve seen it’s stronger in PvP but why not also in PvE?

I think it either needs a serious damage buff or should destroy projectiles. Even the fact that it applies many vuln stacks or generates much adrenalin are just not engouh.

I have a question about shatter too: Do you guys shatter with F1 first or do you shatter F3 for vuln or sometimes even F2 for block proc instead of boonrip. Sure F3 → F1 makes F1 stronger, but sometimes I feel like I already could have used F1 once until I got a good F3 F1 combo ready. Also: do you only shatter with 3 clones or sometimes melee (IP) with 1 or 2?

PvE max damage is sword/axe /warhorn (/torch) – you stay melee and fight with aa. You also can start with GS for your burst skills, then go to sword/axe and finish off again with GS. GS has a terrible aa like any GS in the game. The auto attack chain should be disabled so you can move away if you have to (preventing root). Stupid yea but a jump in an aa is just silly imo.

Hybrid – I just fall in love with you hands a cookie I made some things and looks like as long as someone else provides might stacks (ele), then you can either go 65003 or 46040, doesn’t really matter, tiny dps change. However phalanx seems extremly superior due the overpowered trait – holy moly o.O Staff ele all the way for max dps and phalanx war :O

Exactly. What I am trying to say with the whole thread is that I pretty much beleve: abandoning GS and loss of some personal damage is inferior to trait 4 points into tactics and go for EA to grant everyone 150 power.

Well staff ele is kinda faceroll, but if you want to be a buffslave with damage on lightning hammer, you have to know much more about the game. Imo, godlike is when you use SFDD to buff and swap to staff before fight for max damage and 25 stacks might and 1:30 fury for everyone.

I play engi and mes and they are pretty much the same when it’s about blast finishers and how they work. What I really can’t understand is why dragon tooth and metor have no ground targeting … that’s just disgusting for buffing, especially in caves and buildings with multiple floors …

Those “arcane formulas only i know the internal logic of” are nothing else than the wikis damage over the chain duration multiplied with all the trait multipliers a build has.

I’ve asked for someones opinion that has already made the same calculations with a team and when we come to a result I’m gonna post it here

1st: 20k damage with ? I guess you’re talking about 100b (hundred blades) right?

There are many reasons for this:

• have you watched a video or seen it live? there were some nerfs to damage overall in gw2 recently
• many ppl are also just bluffing…
• it could also be that they hit a low armor target to get up to 30k.
• 25 stacks vulnerability are also a huge damage increase my friend, was the target vulnerable?

At 3 bars of adrenaline, it is the highest single-damage single-hit skill in the game next to a thief backstab (yes, even more powerful than Evis).

Damage numbers according to wiki and calculated per second.
Whirl calculated into a wall, max damage.
Empowered trait (+1% damage per boon) calculated with common boons: regeneration, protection, might, swiftness, fury (5).

Ego Warrior: +100 power and +150 ferocity with traits compared to Support Warrior.
Ego Warrior is able to get might for GS attacks.

• GS aa: 357.5 -> +10% +3% +15% +10% = +43,3% -> 512,4
  traited 5 sec weapon swap allows you to never do a GS aa, yet I display this for those who might go 66020… how terrible this skill is…
• 100b: 566 -> +10% +3% +15% +10% = +43,3% -> 811,2
• whirl: 1000 -> +10% +3% +15% +10% = +43,3% -> 1433,2
• Axe aa: 608 -> +5% +3% +15% +10% = +36,8% -> 831,8

Support Warrior: +150 power (for the whole team), +40 prec per sigil (1-2), +150 ferocity with traits compared to Ego Warrior.
Support Warrior is allowed to use F1 skill multiple times during a fight without the 15% damage boost lose. A (sadly here not displayed) huge damage spike if you ask me.

• Axe aa: 608 -> +5% +10% +10% +5% = +33,4% -> 811,1

Now if I would calculate the Axe aa with 50 power and 40-80 precision I’m pretty sure it outdamages EVERYTHING but the whirl of the Ego Warrior. And now adding 150 power to all my allies DEFINITLY outdamages the GS whirl aswell if you look at the team dps.

You can say what you want but the build seems pretty solid and aslong as someone or multiple allies can provide the 25 stacks might, lets say engi ele guard, then this build is superior. Otherwise I’m pretty sure phalanx builds will lead to victory. But no more Ego Warrior.

True, my bad – ingi only has 1000, traited 1200. Warrior has default of 1200 wich seems perfectly fine to me.

Yea 66020 or 65003 is still the way to go as solo war, no doubt, since it offer the higest amount of damage. I’d also retrait to this if there is another warrior with the above build in a party, or a phalanx war if required.

You say the damage is less? Yea but not as much as you think. The only thing you trade is up to (!) 18% (28% for GS) damage and 100 power from the Strength traitline for 150 ferocity, 10% damage (AS) for axe, 1% damage per boon on you (wich is most likely 3-5) if traited, and the most amazing 150 power for everyone – so 750 free power for the pt.

It’s only the GS that hurts not beeing used. But even axe offhand has it’s purpose. 1.st it’s a 5 target skill wich applies tons of vuln. 3x axe autoattack or 5x whirl attack against 5 targets -> definitly that one. It’s situational. Maybe even a sword offhand would be worth it for the block against bosses or something. Like against Mai in fotm? And in some rare parts of the game you can even carry a shield with you, like the harpy fotm. Gonna test that too if I get there next time. Maybe even try to trait for reflection, but I doubt that I find skillpoints for that without dropping too much dps(

About the banner trait – it’s useless when you skip from boss to boss and the time is enough to recast the banners or take the old ones. However it’s extremly strong when you have dungeons or fotm, where you are unable to skip all the time. Traited banners have 6 seconds where you don’t have them. Having no banners in a fight where they are on like 20 sec cd, makes you feel bad for having 1% more damage per boon instead of the approximately 10% party dmg increase. Passive damage, I can’t say it often engouh.

They outdps pure axe only in active damage and thats the point. Phalanx is good for pugs who can’t sustain 25 stacks o’ might. Just made a post about it, take a look

rifle base range IS 1000, other long range waepons 1200 and only traited long range weapons may get 1500. 1000 is totaly fine, warrior is a melee fighter and shines there.

As you all know, the warrior has recived many nerfs in the past and next patch might as a boon gets slightly nerfed too wich feels like a dog weeing to a phalanx leg.
Warriors are no longer a top tier dps class. Other classes outdamage us and that not only slightly. The warrior fits no more in an egoistic build (6/6/0/2/0 or 6/5/0/0/3) when he is the only one of his kind in a party. Let’s face the truth – in pugs phalanx became superior to the common just mentioned builds. But what about organized parties where 25 stacks might can be sustained without a phalanx war?

I have made many thought about what’s best for the team, rather than what’s best for me. A common face-to-desk situation I always see are warriors refusing to use multiple banners. Why would a warrior use a power signet over a power banner in a party? Because of it’s CD and "death"time? Please … The warrior itself deals minor damage more with the signet, the party itself suffers.

According to this thinking I came to the solution of a smart support warrior. Providing all the banner bonuses (170 power, condition damage, precision, ferocity) combined with empower allies (+150 power FOR EVERYONE) and abandoning the greatsword in order to get a really strong auto attack makes this playstyle superior for organized parties.

Some minor changes according to dungeon / fotm (like no traited banners but %dmg per boon if the cd is enough to skip from boss to boss, wich is unlikely in fotm but likely in dungeons) etc.

Empower allies is such a great trait wich ofc decreases the warriors damage. However if you add the damage the other deal more with it and decrease the damage the warrior is dealing less with it, the result will be by far over 0.
Passive damage is the true source of damage in this game. It’s not the great 100b or whirlwind damage count that makes a party great. It’s vulnerability of the engi, the time warp of the mesmer, the banners of the warriors, the passive damage increases of the warriors and rangers, the perma fury of the elementalist and might stacks in general that makes the party damage great! Passive damage is the number that is higher at someone elses screen, because – of – YOU!
The goal in a fight is it to grant as many buffs as possible to the true damage dealers in the game. For aoe engi and ele, for single target thief (or mes wenn 3 swordsmen are sustainable and the fight takes ages), for reflection (precision / ferocity) guard, thief, maybe a little bit engi, etc.

I used to sword+pistol / staff a long time since it’s “recommended on metabattle” … or was … however once I equiped the scepter and torch, I was able to really shine. Scepter 2 and torch cloak are too strong to ignore. Also the iMage soon gets some good buffs. I’d rather choose a 90% win without chase than a 60% win with finish potential in a contesting game mode.

Hm, I’m using staff and gs and if I want to hit a thief – well he dodges. Always, even when he attacks, it feels impossible to attack him. They often win 100:0 HP against me. I don’t have such problems with any other class. I tried to outplay them with some really good flashes and ports and it worked but I can’t rely on a good battleground all the time and even then the hitting shatters are lucky strikes.

Warrior builds may change slightly since there are alternative % power increases besides from Might. In PvE, there is even more (banners/signets).

Might nerf, hit Signet of Rage (sadly again) and Greatsword/Phalanx support Warriors in PvE. The biggest downside is the overall party DPS decrease for super coordinated groups but it does make more sense (not that there are any other alternatives given).

Good warriors were already using as many banners as they had to. The old dps ego warrior builds (6/6/0/2/0 and 6/5/0/0/3) are out of date for elitism play now. Next there will be less and less phalanx builds and pure axe will dominate with the support of phalanx and slightly less damage than ego war. I tell you now 4/6/0/4/0 will be the future of warriors in pve.

Warriors still have the sad state of Adrenaline nerfage to contend with…

As for Superior Sigil of Battle nerfage, all that means is that people will convert over to either Superior Sigil of Force or Superior Sigil of Strength (depending on crit rate/already used Sigil) so … it’s a maybe 1% or less DPS decrease change in disguise.

Sigil of Battle hits pve aswell pvp and I think it hits them a bit too hard. Strength doesn’t recive any nerfs but I guess it’s also harder to use than battle so I’m ok with that. Battle gives 6-9 stacks might (boon dura) normaly. 180-270 power wich is more or less 10% damage. I don’t know if there will be an alternative good dps sigil but you crit less in pvp than pve and this makes strength a lot weaker. Force maybe, but even zerkers were using some condition damage wich will now no longer be increased (might). It’s definitly more than just 1% imo.

buffing the condition effects while nerfing might just ends up screwing the non condi builds over, which are already less powerful. If i wanted to play with conditions i would not have rolled a warrior in the first place.

Buffing conditions? Only PVE confusion has been buffed a tiny bit. The new rune will maybe result in bunker ingis with condition damage or bunker guard with burn traited. But I think the main meta stays the same. Torment sigil though … removing 1 condition skills … 1 stack torment or 20 stacks bleed? This will be the condi breaker imo.

Only staff clones fry? :S That wouldn’t be that terrible but it’s not great for sword clones

WvW means players that attack you and not npc’s like in dungeons. I don’t know what guide you’ve seen, but either it was for PvE or the creator was as bright as a slice of bread.

WvW I’d suggest hoelbrak for power builds. Altought I’m more expirienced in PvE stuff, still – I think it’s ok

Laughtable change for confusion. First I thought it was +30% damage but by reading it again they increase the condition ratio of confusion from 0.15 to 0.2 … hehe … sad.
Conditions are bad beacuse they get annihilated by weaker conditions (bleeding most of the time) and others won’t stack at all with allies (burn). And the 2nd reason is: not enoguh high armor enemies.

For my pug strength mes equip, the sigil of battle change is gonna hurt a lot – from now to later, 9 stacks à 35 compared to 6 stacks à 30 makes a difference of 135 power.

At least TW gained a 30 sec CDR

Boonshare, stun, blind without casttime to finish enemies off, shatter recharge for everything – I’m totally fine with them. They are just very very specific and more pvp than pve.

Condi mesmer is fun and strong, but you will never catch anyone running away from you and you have no burst at all. But it’s superior against most enemies.

My problem is rather to hit a thief with it… :S

Yea they cover it up pretty much – for solo leveling, Flamethrower, Bombs, Elixier gun (advanced knowledge), Mine (+ Toolbelt), and ofc a rifle hit quite hard.

I suggest you Mantra of Pain. Extremly underrated and together with some F1 shatter and the normal sword cleave you’ll do fine.
