During the casttime you cast multiple times a small meteor shower that stacks up.
Try casting it and stop after the first drop. It makes "boom …. pause …. boom* instead of boom boom boomediboom
I guess you talk about PvE? You have to keep in mind that the mesmer got a terrible start, since his damage relies a huge part on his traits. The warrior won’t get that much stronger. He attacks the same way with traits and without. The mesmer however changes quite a bit.
Also the mesmer is pretty much about passive damage and phantasm damage. If you can keep up 3 dd phants (iDuellist / iSwordsman / iWarlock) no other class will be able to outdamage you. The mesmer is superior in utlity and support aswell singletarget dmg and survivablity. However he lacks in AoE damage and is forced to use the sword mainly.
Fun fact: In a full buffed lv80 party the mesmers Time Warp will deal approximately 200’000-250’000 damage. Cast time? 0.5 sec. I luv u too
Afaik is the ele not able to stack as much might as the engineer. The ele (mainly staff in dungeons) is able to grant a fire field every few seconds, blasting with 3 finishers, granting 9 stacks might. The engi is able to grant up to 18 stacks but takes more effort.
The damage is also pretty even, but I also feel like my ele deals a bit more active damage, however lacks in cc and debuffs while dealing damage nor got good passive damage. The fire field (2) of the ele deals less damage than bomb spamming, however the ele is able to do aa’s with a 3 man hit wich result in higher dps, however against 5~targets they are pretty even. But we have to keep in mind that a bomb 1 spamming engi isn’t that useful, calculating the time he also uses to buff and use smoke bomb or glue etc. leaves him a bit behind. But the passive damage from vulnerability makes it up agian.
Vulnerability wise the ele lacks for sure. His basics and skills hit hard but not often wich results into a poor vuln proccing. True FGS will stack pretty good, but only when you got it and if you aren’t going for cof p1 it’s not all about boss hopping. Think about fotm. The engi can keep up the same vulnerability all the time just with grenades and a bomb 2 and 4.
In the end I think the engi and ele are pretty even, I like both of em in my team. However random engis most of the time use grenades only or a FT… Then I wish I’d had a (2nd) ele

In general bomb kit since it really deals damage (the ft doesnt ._.). Also many fire fields are better in general, since your allies can buff too if you lay them down. However a long one with a longer cd results into overstacking of everyone.

I also suggest a lock option in the inventory. So if you are wearing a 2 handed weapon and swap it with 2 1 handed ones, the empty slot should not get filled up with useless stuff, however swapping back should be aviable.

PvP it has some good bunker abilities. I mean just hopping around the fire field for 10 sec forces the enemy to pass it and recive burning wich really hurts. It also has good cc and protection. I like to swap between ft and rifle for a hold on the fire field <3

With the patch at april 15th the mesmer will highly increase in power, I guess the mesmer and the elementalist will be buffed the most with that patch.
I think the mesmer gets the best buffs in next patch. 50% of them are bugfixes, like Illusion of Death → Illusion of Life etc But we will be soooo viable everywhere!
You can go FT or a SD rifle build instead of bombs n grenades, However it rarely will be as good as the explosive engineer. FT and SD rifle builds mostly rely on HGH wich forces you to use elixiers wich I dislike since the healing turret aswell the elixier gun or the thumper turret are too strong to ignore. But I guess HGH is highly overrated in dungeons, since you will anyway have much might all the time.
I’d suggest a FT build, using a shield instead of rifle, aswell using thumper turret or elixier gun if required. HT ofc is a must have. This way you still have a huge amount of explosion finishers and a long lasting fire field on the FT. You even got one utility left, maybe a 2nd turret or elixier gun with thumper.
Just don’t be shy, try stuff and master the engineer

I even think they should increase it. A lv80 should pay 10 silver for travaling all across the map. Right now it’s about 4 silver. There have to be multiple mechanics to destroy money. Like the trading post does. I mean really, every legendary sold destroys 200 gold xD Image that!

To be honest, my charr has an infinite toy soldier tonic just for jumping puzzles. It’s sometimes a pain to do some stuff in caves. Especially the one in lions arch where you go down the sewers first it a pain in the kitten

I don’t think it works like this. Can you confirm that warrior blocks still work? Even if it would hit twice, I would have been able to see at least once a “blocked” symbol on my mes.

Yes, bloodlust increases your dmg dramaticly. Just care and don’t go into downstate or die.

Just noticed that I can not block the attack of the worms anymore, where they throw a huge stone at you. I am 100% sure I was able to do this, since I allways killed the champion worm at the bear guild rush. So I blocked allways the huge stone but today – NA! NOTHING. Just got “interrupted”…
I noticed this at Mesmer sword 4 block and scepter 2 block. I just get interrupted. I’m pretty sure this is not intended, since a block shouldn’t be able to be interrupted xD Wouldn’t make much sense…
Anyone else noticed this?

Oh, I think in about 4 weeks after the patch goes live you will see how the bubble on the turret really helps. ESPECIALLY, because you can retrait so quickly.
True – ppl have to create and invent new temporary builds for each situation. At the moment I only do this at my main, the mesmer, I never wanted to retrait my engi so far, he just desn’t need it … yet!

To suggest that costumes would ever make up for the loss of that shows, I think, that the devs were ignorant towards the way the town clothes were used so far.

Maybe because FT is kinda bad in PvE anyway? If you need reflection equip a shield and Elixier U. To reflect just one attack isn’t really worth in general. Most of the time a good smoke bomb or a toolkit block is safer and won’t leave you with many useless skills.
However depends on playstyle: The general explosives expert (meta), HGH rifle wanna be or pseudotank 0 dmg FT dude. I guess you get what I want to say

If you have veterans as enemies dont use the greatsword, better swap to staff since it has good conditions on lower levels and survivability with skill 2. GS is just good for so called trash mobs. Many normal easy mobs.

Sure weaker, since noone can reflect as much as a mesmer, however the guard rather absorbs wich destroyes damage.
There is no problem with reflecting “just for yourself”. Aslong as your positioning fits you deal great damage aswell can protect everyone (hug the enemy).

Very similar to the build I run, but I use 30/30/0/0/10, might duration runes and a sigil of battle instead.

Stacking vulnerability is a MUST HAVE for every engineer out there. We are the best vuln. stackers and we manage to keep up the 25 stacks at boss fights, other classes may go for more damage if we are around. The main damage comes from vulnerability, definitly 10-15 stacks are just from us. You may calculate the passive damage yourself now.
We also should buff our party with might and since we work with finishers rather than direct skills like guard, might dura affects us even more. The base dura of a might finisher is 20sec, with rune of strenght (espeically after april 15th patch) we become the best might buffers ingame (while still keep the damage high, ofc a buff traited guard grants more).
Pretty sure it will only be something like that they are removing the Soulbound thing in items and make everything Account Bound instead.

Actually it’s more a “bugfix”. They want a system in the game and a direct “+8% crit damage” isn’t what they wanted and I totally agree with them.
Every Item has 3 stats, the main stat grants 100% effectivness, the other 2 each 70% – ALLWAYS – except for crit damage. Trinket gave too much and so there comes the fix.
Next they need to get that condition stacking fixed.
Math in the Guard forums? It affects each class approximately the same, don’t tell me you calculated with skill damage.
Everyone looses about 20% crit damage, wich results with 50% crit chance into about 10% damage reduction. Yea.
Rifles look way better imo. And for PvE (since I never have played my engi vP) the Pistol is exteamly weak. I only take a pistol for skill 3 and for the shield.

I don’t even want town clothers be wearable in combat just let them be as they are right now and focus on combat armors for wardrobe.
Use it for reflection, damage wise other utilities are better (more might stacks f. ex.)
The warrior is holding the rifle like a kitten. Engineers would like to use the rifle to smack enemies when they reach close combat xD The animation is perfect, I really like it. Engis got more power in their gunshots, self made more effective gun powder? Bullets? In the end they penetrate enemies, and I guess that shows how much BOOM each shot has, wich means that they use it from the hip. I guess the knockback of the rifle would break your neck otherwise … I love it like it is, clearly showing who’s boss with the rifle.
