If I read your posts it sounds like you suffer from latency or something. I never wait to detonate the turret and it allways grants me my water explosion. I simply press “heal” “heal” and “F1” right away. If you wait he may start rating and delay the healing burst skill or completly fail with detonating it.
Yea yea, combo finishers and especially with turrets are extremly hard to understand, especially for beginners. I even beleve many “expirienced” players aren’t sure how everything works.

First of all: PvE or WvW / PvP?
Static Discharge (SD) releases a lightning bolt whenever you use a toolbelt skill. That’s why you should use toolbelt skills with low CD like gun turret. The damage is moderate and able to crit but it won’t interrupt your other actions wich makes it a good source of damage.
For parties in PvE, grenades and bombs are significant stronger and more useful, if its efficiency you desire

Both, grenades and bombs have a faster attack speed than 1/sec. Grenades just have a mid air time wich makes it possible to burst if moving to a target or attack slower while moving away from it while throwing the nades.
I beleve that grenades will proc it for felt 100% IF the cd is ready. However I doubt that it will allways be. I have to test it myself since I guess that 1sec cd won’t work very well with a close to 1sec cd skill. 10 stacks in 10 sec seem too much theory.
Except as for grenades, everything else will not add a stack all the time if you aren’t facing multiple enemies. If you face a boss you’re gonna have a bad time. Especially if it has some “don’t attack me” or “run forest run!” phases.
Gonna test the cd and proc tonight, however it seems they are pretty even, both have their + and -.

I just tested the sigil of strength under the effect of rune of strength. The grenades seem really to attack to fast sometimes. I did not get all the time the might I was hoping for (multi target) especially not against a single enemy. The might stacks are between 6-11. I’ll stay at my battle sigils, however I wouldn’t recommend to swap them either ways. Good balanced sigils imo.

Thats a different issue.
Issue 1 is the range. If a phantasm like iMage has an attack that only has 1200 range and is fired at 1200 range, the target has to make one step and the projectile disappears at 1201 range before it hits (theory).
Issue 2 is the homing / slow moving / skillshot projectile. By simply spamming left/right/left/right you will NEVER get hit by iWarlock for example. It shoots where you will move and therefore never hits. Then the iMage seems to have a “shoot where it is” skill in the vid. I don’t think thats true, but I guess he won’t aim out of his range where the enemy will move to. So he uses the farest possible “will move there” location wich is similar with the max range in general. He would hit if he would move closer to 1000 range and the bolt flies 1200 far.
Imo iDisenchanter, iMage and iWarlock should have homing shots. It’s easy to dodge those skills, same as iSwordsman or iZerker. However letting them miss all the time is extremly frustrating, even in PvE when mobs run and stop for an attack and the 20k iWarlock bolt flies into the void.
Mimic is just extremly misleading. If it would copy the absorbed skill, that’d would be fun. “Oh i jsut got hit by a dagger of daggerstorm?”
So all your illusions die after one attack, mkey btt: they should make a skill leash, like he starts shooting at 1200 but the bolt flies 1500.

Yea I use shatter, but most of the time I open with by shattering my first clone with F3 for 5-8 stacks vuln, in the end I use F1. But to be honest I forget this too often ._.
Sigil of Battle is for enemies like the twins in fotm or any other “I really use the GS in combat” situations. Wall fractale, dredge, ascalon, there I often use the GS and swap back to it if the fight lasts long. I do not facetank warriors there, too risky, even with sword 2, F4 and block. However I also try to swap before going ooc in the end of a fight.
And btw – I think sigil of fire is one of the wors sigils the game offers. Really. It’s soooo terrible I once bought it to test it and salvaged the weapon right after it to sell it again. Nogo in Zerker builds imo.

Pretty much what he said. Maybe not everything imo but he gets the point. There are situations for the GS, and it’s not a bad weapon. It’s like saying “Scepter sux cuz no aoe” … well … doing’ it wrong. However scepter against for example the first boss at wall fractale (when u enter) is extremly useful.
i get 8-9 might stacks from sigil of strength with runes of strength:
1. it takes only about 10 seconds to apply them.
The sigil has a 60% chance on crit wich is another 60-80% chance wich results into ~36-48% chance on hit per target and since we hit definitly more than 2 mobs in general i absolutely beleve you this without testings. However it also has it’s flaws:
2. for s. of battle:10 sec (if we face reality, about 15 seconds) to get the 6 might stacks from swapping, add another 9 seconds to reach 9 stacks that goes back to 6 stacks. an estimation of reality considering no1 actually counts the seconds in their heads-> 22-25 seconds to reach 9 might stacks, and the 9 stacks goes back to 6 stacks fairly quick
Engi has NO cd on “weapon swap”. So “if we face reality” ~about exactly~ 10 seconds to get 6 might stacks, another 10 sec and you stay on your 9 stacks forever. However I have to admit that you might fall back to 6 for a few sec sometimes.
3. this third reason is the most comfortable: sigil of strength is a passive. meaning no seconds need to be counted in order to not waste any seconds that provides longer duration of higher stacks.
it’s “overrated” (not “over” for me) for a very good reason IMO. and works most optimal in dungeon runs. for pvp it’s situationally good.
Just becaue you have never used this sigil and you have never learned to estimate 10 sec in you head or be able to count them without high concentration, it won’t make it worse than it is. It makes the rune harder to use yes, yet battle is stronger than strength, especially considering the points I mentioned above. But yes, strength is waaaaaay more comfortable. It’s definitly a good sigil. The main question is “Will I sacrifice comfort for beeing able to sustain my stacks even if I’m not attacking?”
In the end you managed it to make me beleve that they are pretty even . . . BUT I STILL DONT LIKE THEM IN SINGLE TARGET COMBAT!! :OOOOO

Well I like sup guards in high lv fotm for the healings and buffs. I kinda tought the same for the engi maybe? i mean bombs hit faster than every sec, feels like 0.75 to me. 300 healing / 0.75 = 400 HpS. not that bad in situations where you have to survive, just to swap equip i mean. But the questions is allways: faster KS = less damage taken = less heal required. Hmmmm :|

The scaling of healing bombs was what I’ve “tested” by increasing my healing power by 100 = +15 heal per bomb. Actually with ~1000 HP you heal 300 per bomb. Thats pretty cool isn’kitten I’d like to build myself an HP engi just for fun, but is it “viable”? fotm?

Not anymore. 1. prices exploded, 2. exp has been nerfed. The fastest way is to explore the map until you can go to dungeons. Run each dungeon path once a day, they’ll give you 75% of your level. Explore rarer maps where only a few persons are. Killing enemies that havent been slain a long time grants you up to 400% bonus EXP.
I cannot approve anything you just said. You are looking at this way too specific. I don’t know wich encounters you got in your mind right now, but I think you keep forgetting that I also swap the GS out.
Since I do not play in perfectly organized groups where might stacks never fall under 20 stacks etc, yes – might stacking is something that is still worth the effort.
I do not confirm that putting 6 points into dominion is “meta”. I don’t know, but “meta” seems to be just the desire to trait for mantra damage and warden and modifiers over everything else. I also swap the traits and I also swap my skills ofc. I just mention it so you won’t come again with some “but in this situation” stuff.
There is allways the time and the place for empowered mantras, but imo it’s not the best option for a core build anymore. Aslong as I can buff my party with might via signets I have no space for more than 1 mantra wich makes the trait worthless compared to another 15% illusion dmg boost. 5/4/0/5/0 is definitly my core. I change if change is needed, but I will not go for EM if I just use 1 mantra…
This all leads to the reason to SOMETHMES take the GS. My GS uses the sigil of strength aswell battle, combined with rune of strength. If I lead the engage and can open long lasting aoe battles with 2,4,signet,4,3,filler,2,swap,share, it’s a great damage boost. At that moment, some bigger might buffs are running out slowly.
Sometimes I’d really like to see how other players play. I do not beleve everyone here that he’s allways in pts where everything works perfect and might aswell vuln are allways at 25 stacks and conditions are cleared in 0.1 sec etc etc etc.

Having a weapon just for clearing trash is a waste, considering that sword+focus gives you plenty of trash clearing potential and is good at bosses.
So your argument is “I do not want to swap my weapons so I think S/F is better than S/F + GS against multiple enemies” …
Clearing trash is something almost any dungeon is about, aswell fotm. I do not want to count now, but swapping weapons to adapt to any situation isn’t something you should dismiss just because of lazyness. People buy stuff for much gold to be a bit stronger wich isn’t also “a waste”?
Trash mobs also often consists of multiple veterans and elites. I cannot see any “waste” here…
It’s a tooltip bug. If you trait vulnerability (or something~) the the tooltip bugs. If you undo all your traits you can see your bleeding stacks. It is still working either ways, don’t worry. I guess it was 3 stacks over 12 sec? (1620+0.15xcondidmg)
Vigor = more bombs on dodge but yea. Aslong as you go 6/6/0/X/X everything is ok.
Zerker is sure harder to play than some Soldiers parts, however also more rewarding. Learn it or stay semi efficient. I’d also suggest to learn it slowly, better you deal not max damage but don’t die permanently.
As for sigils you pretty much should go for Sigil of Force (5% damage) and Sigil of Battle (3 stacks might for 20 sec on weapon or kit swap, 10 sec cd). As for runes definitly Rune of Strength. It increases all your might blast finishers (wich is engi must-do) by 45% to nearly 30 sec. You can sustain easily 12-15 stacks by yourself.
You also can use Sigil of Accuracy (+7% crit chance) but I don’t like it since it’s a bit an overkill imo. I think damage is better since modifiers stack better together.
If you’re in a fractal or dungeon team however you probably won’t be pulling your weight if you’re packing a GS because:
- Sword has higher DPS and cleaves. (It also has good evasion)
- Focus has excellent DPS, and packs good utility
- Offhand sword packs an extra defence move, and it has a fantastic phantasm for boss-DPS.
- GS1 requires you to stand out of might spread range, lowering your DPS even further compared to the guys in the thick of it.
- GS provides no support of note. So even the “But I’m support spec” excuse doesn’t fly
Obviously there are some bosses where melee is simply NOT an option, in which case GS is a good fallback, in the same way a ranger might fall back to using a longbow, but asides from those exceptions, GS isn’t really a weapon you should be seeing a mesmer sitting on. There’s a reason it’s colloquially referred to a “noobstick” by some circles)
I would say that all is true, if this post would be 1 month old.
GS was a terrible dungeon weapon once. However wisely used you can use it for greater damage than the sword with a crappy single target offhand. A swordsman is pretty useless against 10 enemies at once. The weaker aa for a few times gets outdamaged by the stronger phantasm in such cases. There is allways the time for each weapon as a mesmer.
Sometimes I swap my ‘red eye’ to Gas Mask.

Zerker, nothing to discuss. Also dungeon build is 6/6/0/2/0, speedy kits is for open world. Vigor > Swiftness in combat.
Until the last big update I’d never have used the GS in dungeons. Open world it’s definitly one of the best options, however if you are facing champions solo, the weapons are anyway “depending on situation”. Back to the dungeon GS:
The GS has become a much better weapon now imo. Since you now can trait into dominion without sacrificing more than you gain, you can trait – nope, not the GS – the signets. I use the rune of the strength, wich is extremly awesome with the GS and the signet of inspiration. Starting with GS 2, 4, 3, signet, 4, fillers, 2, swap (battle), share tons of long lasting buffs.
I do not say the GS is now a “allways use” weapon. I say the GS is dungeon viable now, even if it lacks with skill 1. However with rune of the strength you are able to keep up your own tons of buffs so the “you are not in buff range” argument starts to lack. The GS is the 2nd best option for aoe. Against multiple targets, I’d never use a single target phantasm. They just deal not enough damage. Many encounters end anyway before you have to reswap to GS for battle sigil buffs.
Against specific enemies you still have to swap weapons, like you ever did. The GS just reentered my viable weapon pool now. But I have to admit, in organized groups with permanently 25 stacks might, wich is rarely the case for me, I’d still stay on the sword in both mainhands.
Buffshare helpful + AoE = GS viable
Working as intended. The purpose of clones is not to deal damage, rather to be shattered, grant effects via traits (like on death). However they will only deal less damage but still proc effects. The tooltip says the clones will execute mind slash wich means it also removes a boon.

Actually we don’t know if it’s a bug or a tooltip mistake. There are other bugs, that have been here since release, like phantasmal haste didn’t work until last patch. It’s pretty possible that you should be able to absorb the first attack.
Btw Mimic ONLY blocks if it has absorbed … sry I mean “if you have been hit” by a projectile. After that everything is blocked and reflected til 4 sec dura.
Very interesting choice of colors! I like it! I often dislike outfits because the colors are just too powerful and too bright and intensive. You look like a clown if you do this (if that is the goal, you have to do it). But your outfit is pretty much what I call a good look. Also not the classic purple mesmer. Btw I think the shoulders fit pretty good, but if you look for others, simply go to the bank and check the wardrobe :P

Once upon a time, there was a stationary working warden. But then the “Buffs” appeared and everything changed … Since then we are waiting for the ANetar to save us!
PvE you got focus with speed runes in open world.
WvW zerg you will allways have a speed boost, and they don’t stack in efficiency with travelers etc – you won’t be the tail.
WvW dueling and chasing is a different story. However sword, blink aswell phase “retreat” well used are good to catch up. We lack in chasing but that’s ok. Every class needs to have + and – (except warriors ofc :P troll) and it would be boring if ANet would work like “Class A has a speedboost, B doesnt. Grant everyone a speed boost for equality!” …
afaik everything is account bound. but you don’t have to open the armor chest until you need it on a character. once you opened your armor chest you can choose 1 out of 3 armors (light, medium, heavy). You will recive a set (all 6 parts) of the chosen armor as a skin, wich you can use on any armor without using transmutation charges. You will also unlock the whole set for the wardrobe to reuse the skin by the cost of one transmutaion charge, like a regular armor. So you can use the armor multiple times.

Pretty good outfit. I’ve never seen the mask fitting to any of my characters, ot often just floats too far away in front of the face Seems like not at Asura. Awesome colors. I think it’s charred right? By far the best color for the engineer and probably one of the few ultra expensive colors wich is totally worth it, not like pyro or something that looks almost similiar to cheaper versions (illumination f ex.)

Also “bombs attack faster” is hilarious when you consider that grenades hit three times per attack.
Why is it hilarous? It’s the truth. Yes there’s 3 grenades per volley, but it’s only at a 33% coefficient each.
I just don’t understand this argument. Most bosses since the ferocity overhaul melt in seconds with the FGS. Stacking 25 vulnerability just doesn’t really matter anymore; most trash and bosses die long before you even hit 25.
It’s about the vulnerability stacks wich increase the damage better than bombs do. You say “most trash and bosses die long before you even hit 25”. Yea IF you are using bombs only.
If you stack 25x vuln right at the beginning, the damage is already high when you start the fight, where most ppl use their long or medium cd burst skills. FGS deals much more damage if it attacks an already 25 stacked enemy, same goes for 100b, backstab, etc.
I don’t say do not use bombs, but I say use bombs AND grenades wisely. And I say that if you manage to hit all enemies with grenades, grenade 1 > bomb 1 IF there aren’t permanently 25 stacks vuln on the enemies.

Grenade is a 99% coefficient with a ~1 second attack rate.
Bomb is a 125% coefficient with a .92 second attack rate.So not only does the grenade “auto-attack” strike for less damage, but it’s significantly slower.
If you’re going to spam an auto-attack, it should be with bombs, not grenades. It doesn’t matter how they’re stacked. Bomb is a significantly more powerful auto-attack.
I’ve agreed all from the beginning that if 25 vulnerability is your objective, that grenades are better. But if dishing out raw DPS is your objective, especially if you can reach 25 vulnerability with the bomb kit, it’s superior DPS. All the time. Stacked or surrounded.
If I read this and my engineer would rip his hairs out aswell, god he would be a balt charr …

If you like to play the engineer piano (once you get addicted, the other classes feel so slow and boring), the 3 kit build can handle ~90% of group content very well, has all the important fields and the highest sustained DPS.
Grenades, Bombs and Elixir Gun with Healing Turret. Mix it with a rifle for higher dps or with pistol/shield for some more defense and an extra blast finisher. 6/6/0/x/x for traits.

All sigils work on MW or any other shatter skill. Actually every sigil works on every skill OF YOU. Since phantasms got their own skills and weapons, they won’t proc on hit or +5% dmg sigils. However they still copy your stats like power, so sigil of battle wich grants 3 stacks might (105power) after weapon swap will copy the power to the phantasm, granting them more damage.
Little question here: I’ve sent a ticket about 2 weeks ago (right after the april 15th patch) and haven’t recived an answer yet.

You say this like the bomb kit isn’t a weapon that stacks might as well as vulnerability.
Nope, not the whole kit. Just the wrong skill in the wrong situation. The whole thread long I’m saying that both bombs and grenades are awesome, and I almost NEVER miss one of those kits in my utility bar!
But I’m saying that grenade 1 is better if enemies are stacked tight and bomb 1 are better if they are surrounding you. If you spam bomb 1 against a single boss instead of grenade 1 then yes, you are selfish and will se higher nubers while dealing less damage.
However, the CD’s are so low, you anyway can almost allways spam other stuff than 1. But if you spam 1, do the right one.
Thats why I call it “I showed him the game” cough :P I definitly stop doing it if it’s against the TOS Don’t want to get banned, especially now, after I finished my Quip (first leg) <3

Not exactly – I bought myself GW1 for some skins but I have no idea how to get HoM points so a friend of mine who played GW1 unlocked some stuff for me. Is it against the contract if 2 persons play on the same acc? o.O wut? :O (GW2 acc is mine only, GW1 actually too but he was playin’ on it, that’s what i meant). Isn’t that allowed? o.O I better write it a bit more clearly ty for the hint.

The passive damage of the grenades outdamages the ~25% higher bomb aa damage aslong as you won’t overstack wich is nearly impossible when you simply can switch bufffood from 40% condi duration to power/prec stuff. Against bosses you can go +40% condi dur and won’t perma reach the cap.
If everyone deals 3k dps wich is laughtable low, but just an example, and you deals 3x 1k grenades instead of 1x 4k bombs you already outdamaged the bombs:
even 1 stack vulnerability for 10 sec would result into a damage boost of 1200 for your allies. ONE stack for ONLY 10 sec.
Vulns 25> = Grenades dps > Bomb dps. It’s a simple fact. Party dps > personal empty D dps …
Still, keep in mind that bomb 1 has a larger radius if enemies are kinda splittet, rather surrounding you than stacking somewhere.

Since I lost faith in the german forums, I’m gonna post it here.
Yesterday I tried to link my GW1 and GW2 account. A friend of mine told me to go to my account and go to the tab for uniting my GW1 account with my GW2 account.
He told me first I have to fillin my GW2 account datas there and then click on “connect with GW1 account” and after that I should be able to fill in the GW1 account datas. But I allways recive an error message when I fill in my GW2 datas and want to continue (see uploaded screen).
Am I correct that I have to fill in my GW 2 (!) account datas there? Not the GW 1 account?? Don’t have him yet, so I couldn’t check that. He said he wont give me the account if it bugs anyway
I’m sorry the screen is in german, for some reason the website allways changes the language to german when I go to my account …
So can you help me?(((( PLZ >.<

If everything works perfect, and all the enemies hug themselves on the same small spot, grenades deal DEFINITLY more dmg than bombs. Bringing in the argument of the confusion bomb increases your dps made me smile actually
