There are many valid solutions … yet the current one isn’t really optimal. I hope a patch comes fast, or just a hotfix to reverse to the old system. This would be better I guess.

the no owner system would work alot better. it would be similar to the system used in the first guild wars.

@Noah, you seem not to have read the whole thread then. People “stealing” dungeons are reportable, yet not chasable. Still, multiple reports lead to further investigations and will result into bans. It’s not optimal, but stealers will be warned by this thread rather than motivated.

As a dungeon seller I find the recent dungeon owner changes extremly annoying. People just can join me, kick me and finish the dungeon by themselves. I understand the changes for groups / parties. But I find it very disappointing to not be able to choose between:
It’s great to be protected by leavers and afk (who have to be kicked if you don’t want to finish a dungeon with 4 ppl). Yet you should really think about the others too.
Please give us a ownership option, and a little star at the party list for the owner.

It would be a dps increase if it would work properly. The mines only explode if something walks over it, not if it stays on it when they are created. So – they are only good for kiting, not for stacking. And with 5 ppl you will only be the target a part of the time wich makes it less viable.
MA is by far superior compared to Bunkerdown. Bunkerdown is for solo, MA is for teamplay. It also stacks better with other % modifiers.
I somehow like the rng of the engineer. It resembles the "well let’s try this gear with that energyzer and look what WHAT THE BOOOOM " part of beeing an engineer :P
I really don’t think that the bleed will come up for the 30% less damage grenades deal …

Re, your points:
Elixir S x 5 engis is 25s stealth without smoke, the jumps are just for when there is a clear area to “speed” things up. Obviously risky, but just in case.
Can you show me the math for blasts? I was just going to use thumper toolbelt, not the utility itself. That way you can switch to a higher dps kit while still getting the blast. I see 2 blasts-mine, thumper toolbelt. Where are you getting 3 without thumper? I want to save the BoB for the boss itself, and same goes for acid bomb.
I think the math was done by guang that if the party already had full vuln bombs were a DPS increase. So what i’ve tried to do is maximize DPS while providing for easy skill switches for running and pre-fight might stacking. As far as I can tell that’s really what these speed runners do.
That said, there’s a few things we’d be deficient at. They include fury, and party wide dps buffs.
As I said – cloak is great for that. Elixier S has no cd to swap if only used toolbelt, so I totally agree with you.
As for the blasts, why should you waste time before a fight to buff? Just charge to the boss and use EG and BoB on a fire field. Those are 30 stacks might with 5 engis, all running strength means 29 sec 25 stacks might. Then with 3x Grenade Barrage and later 2x again provides permanently 25 stacks vuln with bomb 1 as aa. DpS increasing skills like rifle and grenade and mines we’ll just rock everything.
Some here seem to forget that the engineer is 3. (4. if mesmer is phantasm viable) in dps. Best dps is clearly the thief, mesmer if he can sustain 3 phants, then ele is next, right behind it engi. Engi has some of the best burst skills and I’m pretty sure 5 of them can burst down a boss faster than eles post patch.
How do you sustain permafury with an engineer without even the medkit? o.O

I’d suggest to skip in cloaked versions instead of damage dealing jumping stuff. Ooc speed is superior compared to that. 3 engineers alone are already able to permacloak a party.
A special build for might stacking is useless aswell. Even without thumper and with rifle instead of a shield you can go for an easy 9 stack every few seconds. And you are 5 engineers so … I wouldn’t suggest to waste a dps increasing utility slot for thumper.
For bossfights i still recommend the grenade kit for opening with barrage for immediately 25 stacks of vuln. Sure mines can do that too, but I’d say grenade 2 and 4 are also a dps increase compared to bombs. Also if one gets somehow low on health he would have no ranged option except for rifle aa, wich is like every engineer aa – baaaad :P
I’d like to do a 5 engineer party for sure! I really enjoy this class to the finest and engineers seem allways friendly and not like the other forums “NONO YOU SUCK YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO PLAY, LIKE I PLAY IS BEST ME PRO”

I won’t run it, since I really HATE this change. We have AT for boon steal, not this junk! I really loved mimic, it was kinda unique. It was too weak yes, it needed a buff, but not a rework into an already existing skill 2.0 … It’s sad they show so tiny creativity
Elites are anyway pretty stupid in this game tbh. You just got degradated to “engi elite tier”. Seriously elites need more love. I mean some skills are just “ok” but they do not feel like elite. And others are really just bad. I hope they change that …

Actually … to say that torment on clone aa is too hard is kinda stupid. I mean it’s 2 sec. That’s nothing. What does the staff clone do? And it bounces …
Depends on the fractale level and organisation. It’s doable, if really organized, even lv50.
Do not forget about the scepter. It’s the ranged single target dps weapon with a good phantasm unlike the GS (sinlge target!). Also it has a higer dps at low range than the GS.
In general in GW2 as long as you can go melee, stay melee for more dps. If you can’t just go ranged. It’s simple.
The problem with the scepter aa is that it is not a condi weapon right now. I’d say just shift the 1st attack torment to the 2nd one too. So clones won’t stack torment, but it stays a condi weapon. Or maybe just remove the first aa condi damage and give us confusion on the 3rd one.

But only because it’s better than it is right now. The scepter aa needs a buff. Torment on AA isn’t op. Torment damage isn’t that extremly high. It’s weaker than bleed when a target doesn’t move and there are other bleed stacking aa’s who aren’t op. The problem are the clones. AI stacking is a bit silly but the staff already does it too – and much much better.

This is the current meta dungeon and fotm build.
Go for 2 points in “Alchemy” for “I” -> Vigor on Speed or if you don’t need the survivablity go for 2 points in “Tools” for “VI” -> Speed on Kit.
If you got really hard times, go for both and reduce 2 points of “Firearms”.
If you have enought utility and might buffs, you can pick a rifle over P/S and change “Firearms” “III” for “IX” for 10% more rifle dmg.
This build is the best for actually everything in PvE.
Adapt utilities to the situation.
full zerk, 6/6/0/0/2 or 6/4/0/2/2 for hard content, like solo champs etc.
speedy kits helps you out with the mobility
the only helping movement utility is rocket boots. i’d suggest to take grenades and bombs with it.
FGS nerf was required in PvE, it was just ridiculous. Now finally Eles can show their true potential as a dps mage, rather than a FGS delivery boy …

They should have changed mimic in a way like it summons a phantasm that does the absorbed skill ONCE.

Hate to break it to you, but GS will still be crap in FOTM/Dungeons. Sword cleaves and has much higher damage than GS, so it’s really not a comparison, since you can also use the mantra with sword.
It’s about our ranged aoe capacity. Also the GS + mantra hits for 5 enemies. It’s about the phantasm, and the new #3.

Mantra of Distraction hits 3 targets. Daze, wich applies 5-8 stacks vuln for 10+ sec. Also – GOD IT’S A kitten LOW CD AOE DAZE!!! It’s amazing!
The only thing I cannot agree with is distortion for phantasms. 1 sec is useless most of the time, since some are first walking, others like duelist and warden take too long ot make use of it. Especially warden, I bet he’ll be invulnerable instead of reflecting …
For this update, we’re looking at improving multiple traits, utility skills, weapon skills, and illusions.
Maybe – just maybe … I’ll throw in some items: Rune of Strength, Scholar, Sigil of Force, Accuracy. Maybe some nice additions would be: Spotter, Sigil of Fire, Air, …

Mainly because the fire field outranges the guards light fields for blast finishers during longer fights when traited. Also in fotm there are many parts where enemies just won’t stack perfectly, where the radius is needed and grenades won’t hit them all. Wall fractale for example when you bunker between the fire fields, or fire shaman endboss elementals, … Blind and root can become very handy in those situations too. In perfect stacking dungeons it is indeed less useful.
I only trait sharpnel on bossfights or places like the harpy fractal. It’s not a terrible trait, it’s just often overrated. The bleed won’t outdamage the 30% more damage of bomb 1 if there are enough vuln stacks on the enemy. Also don’t forget the bleeding cap wich is a pain in the kitten sadly…
The mainquestion is: IF you cannot make use of a bigger radius, would you take sharpnel for a 50 dps increase for 20 sec every 2nd grenade attack, or would you take the 5% damage with not full enduracne wich you also can provoke by dodging after an attack to proc the bomb for a dps increase. Wich would deal more damage in the end?

I see you completely ignore the bleeds you get on grenade.

Isn’t it obvious? First they removed the blink + firey rush combo, because it was definitly not working as intended. They mentioned back then that they will also take a look at the wall charge.
It’s 99% sure that FGS will not be able to rush into a wall anymore, wich is great. I feel sad for elementalists who just are in a party for being a FGS \/\/H()R€ … Probably the other skills get a higher dmg output or whatever. Just keep in mind that grandmaster trais are about to change – also a normal staff ele outdamages a 100b warrior already … ppl just seem to forget.

I’m sorry to shatter your dreams but this build and the idea isn’t really worth taking. What you do is to stack a high amount of might (21 stacks) for the price of:
The current meta build keeps the might stacks at 12 stacks for everyone, 6-9 more for yourself, keeping up vulnerability at 20-25 stacks and still grants you all the utility.
Everyone is able to grant himself might and there is allways another one who will stack might. So in parties you will be a might overkill with 0 usefulness beside the might stacks and if you go solo, you only have the might stacks but still 0 damage to use the might with.
The build isn’t viable in speedruns or higher fractals.
So I wasn’t the only one who felt a bit weird when my phantasms tried to kill those bugs in dry top, yet they dealt 0 dmg? :S
The new mobs are great, yet phantasms seem too weak against them. I’d suggest to reduce their summon time and grant us a trait wich gives phants distortion until their first salve. (PvE balance)

Koi cakes grant 40% condi dura wich is converted into long lasting vulnerability stacks wich means, ultra tons of damage. If I see the stacks are too clearly 25, I’ll either go for other bufffood or use bombs instead of grenades. But most of the time the 2nd one
Yup, for solo bombs sure deal moarrr damage.
Btw “the only vuln stacker”: Take a look at the vulnerability stacks, especially against bosses. Without an engineer in my pt I’ve never seen a constant 25 stacks on vuln on bosses and often the vuln just spikes.
It’s important to use barrage in the beginning of a fight, beacuse it will stack vulnerability extremly fast. It’s the same reason why to use grenade auto and not bomb auto (looking in your direction Rozbuska).
You must think about the team dps, not about your own dps. Sure grenade barrage deals more damage if you first stack vulnerability with grenade 1, however the damage the team deals more because you started with barrage to stack vuln from the beginning is higher.
Bomb AA deals about 30% more damage than grenade AA. However grenade AA applies 3x as much vulnerability as the bomb AA. The passive damage is higher, since your team will deal more damage.
You have to use Bomb AA if the enemies are spread a bit, to hit them all with the higher splash. Or when the enemies are at 22-25 stacks vulnerability.

Pretty much what Vee Wee said. There is no need for a real rotation. Just buff before a fight, buff during a fight if it lasts longer, and try to deal as much damage as you can. Most important skills is Grenade Barrage. It deals the most active and passive damage. If there aren’t 25 stacks of vulnerability on the target: Use grenade 1 as a filler. If there are, use bomb 1 as a filler. Keep in mind that Blunderbuss is a bad skill if there are more than 3 targets to attack.

I wonder why noone here mentioned the elixier gun. It has a low CD, high dps blast finisher. Also it doesn’t just block a utility slot. The EG grants great condi cleanse, minor heal, the already mentioned burst + finisher and a good stunbreaker.
My buff rotation is Healing Turret → Big’Ol’Bomb → Fire Bomb → explode Healing Turret → 2 times Shield #4 → Elixiergun #4 → weaponswap. 12 stacks might.
I do not suggest the Thumper Turret for stacking might, since it’s CD is extremly high. It is great for stacking stealth though. However if you are sure you do not need the utility of the EG and you will not fight for a Thumper Turret CD duration of time and the fight will be over in one stack duration, yes, then the TT is a good option for 6 additional stacks of might.

Berserker > Assassin for normal damage with attacks you do or your phantasms do. They anyway scale better with more power than with more precision.
However since your own power does not affect reflected attacks, a higher crit ratio is better there.
Overall a full berserker Mesmer deals the highest amount of damage. PvE – Zerk, allways. You got bufffood, warrior and ranger + fury for your almost 100% crit chance. Don’t get over 60%, general rule.
In genereal phants should use the sound and animation of legendaries, yet not whield them, since they aren’t purple and transparent.
