Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
I’m talking about the achievements where there are clear precedents but are just not there. Such as:
-Chak Slayer
-Mordrem Guard Slayer
-Mushroom Slayer
Also, why don’t regular Mordrem count towards the Plant Slayer achievement? The vines atleast totally should. Itzel and Nuhoch count towards Hylek Slayer, so why not this one?
Can you name other achievements that are clearly missing?
@SuperKorean Many of your suggested changes in this thread and in the past have been ridiculously powercreep-y. Please stop treating this game as if it is an eastern MMO, as it’s not. And the day it starts going that direction, about 80% of the players will leave it, and move to something more reasonable. There’s a reason why those aren’t major competitors in EU or NA.
I don’t know if lore-wise Urgoz can be really considered a ranger (in GW1 everyone had a profession, even monsters), but yeah, he nails the nature aspect, and would be a better alternative than Pyre. He also used a bow. I would prefer both him and Pyre to be inspiring new ranger elite specializations, instead of the revenant, but well.
For charr, any Flame Legion shaman would be a better alternative than Pyre, because they have unique fire magic that wouldn’t really fit the elementalist. Also, there was nothing more epic in charr history than the Searing, and just like Shiro is built around the Jade Wind, so could the potential Flame Legion legend as well.
I would still argue that ranger doesn’t have space for an Urgoz-like ESpec, a dark archer if you will. And that’s simply because ranger already uses both bow types. There is space for dark themes, just not the dark archer-type.
I agree with a Flame Legion ESpec but the thing is it’s hard to personify into anyone really. Bonfaaz Burntfur doesn’t scream legendary to me. He was level 10… However they have a chance to set up a new character in the current LWS story with Rytlock, or they could even go with Gaeheron Baelfire or Hierophant Burntsoul.
I don’t believe for a single second that they have left 3 out of 9 professions unchanged. The list that Gaile gave us is not a complete list of the changes coming tomorrow.
Add, “Each condition you apply to yourself generates 4% LF per second.”
Yeah no. Plague Signet. Unholy Martyr.
If this applied only to Corruption skills this would be fine. But in that case, this is not the place to do it. Corruptions are based in the Curses traitline.
OP is probably didn’t give that post much though because idk how do you suppose to prevent that. Disable pre-match swapping? that’s stupid, any competitive game allows that, especially in soloQ it is a must. Disable class stacking on matchmaking stage? Queues will take hours then at any tier, that’s stupid.
Learn to play pls, learn to win and learn to lose.
Good question. A while ago I suggested allowing class swapping, but preventing someone from relogging in on a character if somebody on their team was already playing that class. Seems simple, though that might be a difficult piece of software to write.
And what if 2 ppl reroll at the same time, and try to enter the same class? The 1st player will get back in, but what about the 2nd player? Maybe he only has 3 characters which are all already taken at this point.
I think only Dhs shouldn’t be allowed to stack. Idc about necros or anything else.
Necros actually stack really well whether they are power or condi. The amount of minions alone is ridiculous. You can’t block 5 necros, and condis don’t stay on them for long.
I suggest making it like this:
Stable Soul
When you gain Stability, gain an extra stack. Gain Life Force when Stability is applied to you.
Stability. Lasts 2 secs.
Life Force: 1%
1 second internal cooldown.Thats a bad idea since deathmagic doesnt really offer any stability.
It would probably better to use protection instead (a boon you actually get from deathmagic).
Yeah I was trying to swat 2 flies with one bat which probably, in retrospect, doesn’t convert too well into a death magic trait.
Keep in mind people that these may not be the full list of changes. The guardian changes said there are some sustain shaves but that’s simply not true looking at the list. So I think there’s more to it. Also I don’t think for a second that there are no changes to 3 of the professions.
Yay, a positive thread in the PvP forum! Yay for S5! It is a new age for PvP! Superbly enthusiastic for what’s to come!
You could just delete thieves with those nerfs….
Whats the legendary attack effect gonna be?
Instead of fire it shoot a torrent of rainbow unicorns?
How about pink elephants?
Try this, it’s what I run when I want to power necro. A great 1v1 build when defending a point, the well is great for area denial. A pretty selfish bruiser build, you contribute to teamfights mostly by focusing/+1’ing targets.
@Yannir
Members of the community team in unranked, simply to get laughs from easy wins against PUGs. Why would they not sandbag to get classed in with new people they could easily trounce?
You’d end up with a high win rate. This would advance you quickly. Some find entertainment in winning a match with very little chance of losing.
And yet, as Evan explained earlier, a high win rate may not affect your rating in any way. It’s only as you defeat matches you are supposed to lose you get a better rating. Tanking your rating does nothing except temporarily placing you on a lower rating. Which will start to climb back to your old rating as soon as you start winning again.
If I recall, Crusader amulet used to be in the game but was removed.
Yes, the amulet was removed a few patches ago.
They don’t want amulet with high defensive stat+healing power. What patch was that? Summer balance? I want to check this since I don’t remember ever having this amulet.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Crusader_Amulet
On wiki, it was stated as removed in Feb this year. I think it was right before season 2 started when they mass removed bunker amulets. This was in the second wave and it was removed together with vigilant amulet, i think.
I played a remorseless ranger with this amulet for a long time.
Well that explains why I don’t remember it, I was playing cele ele most of the time it was in the game.
P.S I suggest people in this thread to keep personal attacks ..to a min, the report button is there for a reason
I suggest you take your own advice. There are alrdy several posts by you in this thread that are ripe for the that same button. No offense intended. You have a very aggressive writing style that could use a bit of tempering.
Based on what I’ve read, there seems to be a strong intent to talk the community into reversing on solo/duo after this season. I hope that’s not the case.
I’d still like to know about preventing class stacking.
Also, what’s to stop people from sandbagging the placement matches to get an easy win streak?
Because winstreaks don’t give you any benefits in the new system. Why would anyone sandbag their rating for basically nothing?
I want a fraking Portal Gun though!
I suggest making it like this:
Stable Soul
When you gain Stability, gain an extra stack. Gain Life Force when Stability is applied to you.
Stability. Lasts 2 secs.

1 second internal cooldown.
From the get go it was clear that stronghold needed the 8v8 sPvP back in order to be fun. 5v5 is simply too few on a map that activly discourage PvP by spreading everyone out too much.
Very true. There’s just way too many objectives on the map for 5 ppl to handle. For example, I’ve never seen anyone using that trebuchet.
In addition to that, I think some of the design choices were bad. 2 spawn points for the heros? There should be a single central location. Also needs a more clear indicator of when you are carrying supplies. Sometimes I realize I’m carrying them only after dropping them upon being defeated.
HotM needs a bit of rehauling anyway. It’s a bit broken. You did it with FotM lobby, can you do it with HotM lobby too now?
Honestly I think they are. Seems like every patch the area around Obrin (sp?) gets changed.
Something is clearly afoot.
There’s just so much stuff there that’s outdated like the cannons. And the area that’s now surrounded by a huge wall. The general gloominess of HotM could use some more cheerfulness.
The second island could be used when they implement a 10v10 gamemode where you can squad up. Although that would be an excellent selling point for a future expansion, which is why I’m not holding my breath for it now.
While PvP is better than bunker hell from HoTS release its still abysmal to what it was/could be
I think it’s a fair point that Guild Wars 2 could be a better game, but I’m not sure pre-HoT GW2 is necessarily a model to imitate. You think the current state of affairs is abysmal and I respect that, but I’d argue that PvP was in its categorically worst state from the moment the Celestial amulet was added, and only upon its removal has the game since improved.
People around here like to complain that Heart of Thorns doubled-down on passives and boons and made the game more convoluted, but the truth of the matter is that Guild Wars 2 has always been a game riddled with passives, and necromancer at many times crept in the meta precisely to counter builds just absolutely swimming in bullkitten.
I used to be able to maintain close to 25 stacks of might, perma swiftness, vigor, and regeneration. All by just consuming elixirs on CD and swapping kits. What you desire from the past has never existed, and the truth of the matter is that Guild Wars 2 has been in much worse states than it currently is in.
Scrapper might be pretty easy to play, but so was 100nades, FT/TK condi, Cele rifle, and PPHGH. There wasn’t a single point in time where the best engineer build was its most challenging to master. And that is the case for most professions in this game.
I’m sure I speak for the majority when I say, “Give me GW2 on June 22 2015 sans the cele amulet over another expansion!”
That’s would have been the epitome of balance/skillful play right there
You don’t speak for the majority.
You just aren’t apart of the majority
No you just aren’t a part of the majority.
I once had a team of 2 revenants and 3 thieves, all random soloQrs vs. a full premade. We slaughtered them completely. And the most fun game I ever had.
If I recall, Crusader amulet used to be in the game but was removed.
Yes, the amulet was removed a few patches ago.

the crusader one could backfire as new bunker amulet. As soon as you use toughness + healing and one is main stat eles start getting very tanky + i would expect guardians to step in as well.
Apostate would be a great one. But here i see druids gettign a powertool. Not shure if it would be to much.
I would also like commander. Not shure if this might make scrapper or guardian to stong.
I don’t think Apostate would buff druid directly because of losing Power. Staff would be pretty useless for DPS. And if you want to utilize that condi, you would need to equip a condi weapon set as your second set, losing the free evades from S/D. It would probably be A/D, S/T or A/T.
On Commander, I don’t think it’s a buff for guard. Guards need Vitality. Scrapper is debatable.
Just for kicks I’ll add a bit of perspective.
Zealot – Power main, prec and heal pw minors
This amulet would be amazing for glass cannon/support specs, but mostly just for variety. For example, I would totally use this on a DH/Guardian.
Apostate – Condi main, tough and heal pw minors
Would bring an alternative playstyle for ele especially, but druids could work out something fun as well. As condi is the main stat, it wouldn’t even get close to the tankiness of Cleric ammy.
Crusader – Power and tough main, fero and heal pw minors
Another one that could work well for ele but also classes that can bypass precision and add crits by other means.
Commander – Power and prec main, tough and con minors
Obviously a good option for scrappers and revenants. Not too OP since the defensive stats are minor.
Just for the sake of diversity, I would like to see the following amulets in PvP:
Zealot – Power main, prec and heal pw minors
Apostate – Condi main, tough and heal pw minors
Crusader – Power and tough main, fero and heal pw minors
Commander – Power and prec main, tough and con minors
I am the only one arround here that wants a greatsword as a ranged condi weapon for rev?
Its an iconic weapon for soldier classes, with condi ranged it would find a use it didnt had before would go well with Asgeir Dragonrender, trahearne or Riannoc ir even tge pale tree if she dies.
Yes you are. Greatswords suck.
This thread is totally futile. ESpecs are going nowhere, live with it instead of pining for “the good old days”.
HotM needs a bit of rehauling anyway. It’s a bit broken. You did it with FotM lobby, can you do it with HotM lobby too now?
@Evan Lesh The changes you’ve made to S5 look really good, and I’m super-hyped about getting into the action. It’s a step in the right direction. Don’t let general negativity in the forum get to you. (I’ve almost stopped posting to the pvp forum because of it)
I wanted to ask you about class-based MMR. It’s stated on the wiki page that Glicko makes adjustments to MMR based on the class you are playing but in practice I haven’t really seen this being a thing. So is it really? As a multiclasser this is something I’m interested in.
Vigorous Attitude is kinda underwhelming, though I suppose it could work with a P/Sh combination. But 1st they would have to buff MH pistol skills for it to be viable at all.
mmm I dont think so. Main damage in P is with Unload or Stealth Attack, with p/sh you can spam body shot?
That would be annoying but not really effective as Body Shot doesn’t do a whole lot of damage. Hence why I said they need to boost MH pistol damage for this to be viable. And stealth attack doesn’t work well here because there’s no reliable way to stealth up. With a build like this you would be kitten annoying but you couldn’t kill anything. I’m looking at this from a PvP standpoint btw.
(And Daredevils would screw you up in major ways.. Immunity to Immob and all that)
(edited by Yannir.4132)
I like the idea of Reveal working on traps in general. It would bring counterplay and more relevance to revealing something/someone.
I’m guessing english isn’t your native language. What is this power you keep referring to? Surely you don’t mean the stat? Because that would be underwhelming. You mean Might, right?
The weapon skills on shield are a bit underwhelming, you might consider making them a bit stronger. Like adding another boon to S5 or make S4 do some damage too, or make it stun instead of daze.

Offensive Attitude: the standard for this trait is 15%. But this would still be a huge DPS boost for D/P thieves which I don’t see happening.
Defensive Attitude: You can just make it a flat, unconditional damage reduction, no need to complicate it.
LONGBOW or riot! we really need a 1200 weapon and rifle meh…
i would love to see sword OH too , dual swords on thief <3
Who said Greatswords can’t be 1200 ranged weapons?
Just look at Revenant with it’s 1200 range hammer…
1200 RANGE GREATSWORDS or riot!
(Powerful slicing attack that create powerful cutting winds that have a range of 1200 units)
That sounds more like an ele than a thief…
I do strongly believe that Longbow Pyre would be the best choice as both an additional ranged and we could easily put conditions on it for burning and poison/bleed, plus he actually done something major by starting the charr revelution against the flame legion oppresion which is actually more of a legend than most, traps would likely be the utility line but hopefully bring back the ranger “throwing traps” by letting us place them like wells.
Revenants are not tied to Utility types. Pyre might get 1 trap with everything else being something different. Even if he is not of the Flame Legion, Pyre is strongly themed towards fire, his initial Hero skills in GW1 reflecting that.
Ummm. Look at the Legends again and tell us they’re not themed…..
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Yeah they are themed. But what I was referring to is that Revenants are not tied to utility skill types such as meditations or traps or shouts. A revenant legend is more flexible than another ESpec from another class. The utility skills might be a trap, a shout, a survival skill and a signet as elite for example. All themed towards one character.
I think high mobility needs to be nerfed.
Suggestions:
- Half range of blinks, teleports and mesmer portals (pvp only)
- Decapping points should take the same amount of time as capping it (or at least significantly longer than now)
- Blinks and teleports should only work as a gap closer and not to take shortcuts via vertical position changes. Eg. A dragon hunter should not be able to stand at below or next to the clocktower on Khylo and teleport right on point. No shortcut should be able to save more than 3 seconds of time.
- Blinking/teleporting should cancel all skills including stomps. No more save stomping by using double blinks!
I think none of this is an issue. Quite the opposite, it would take much skill out of pvp, and make it more boring.
Hammer #3 should be targeted like Deflecting Shot/LB3.
Hmm you mean like druid staff root aswell… it could work but i think its better as it is regarding the possible combos right now. Also it would be slower due to point and cast.
Pretty much. This skill is far too easy to strafe when there’s a bit of distance between you and the target. If it were aim-able, you could atleast try to anticipate your opponent.
Hammer #3 should be targeted like Deflecting Shot/LB3.
Your ability to jump into conclusions is remarkable. /sarcasm
I think Braham just became a Dragonhunter btw.

I could live with that. but also the gs3 needs to evade just like warriors 3. it has a bigger cd and gets interrupted so easily and the virtue leap needs and evade aswell. Both this skills r beghing for it since it only healls/remove condis on landing. at least the virtue when traited for damage should evade.
If they added evade frames to DH f2, they would have to nerf the healing significantly. The only reason why it heals for so much is because it’s interruptible and has a clear tell. Besides, it does clear 2 condis before the leap. SO which one would you rather want? Good healing or evades?
I do agree on GS3 though.
I’ve seen the Mender variant on ESL level, so yeah, it’s completely viable.
Feel My Wrath its not used because trap elite is way better for damage and cc aswell.
CC yes, but for damage not exclusively. If you don’t have a mesmer in your party to provide Quickness, your group DPS will be much better with FMW than anything that DM can bring. Depends a bit on the classes but AA heavy DPS is always better with Quickness. For solo play on the other hand DM wins every time.
@Lonami Your thoughts on Idea #1 totally conflicts with what you’ve done with all the other ideas. Revenants biggest problem is over-complexity and then you proceed to make it even more complex? Contradictory to say the least.
I do have some ideas for improving Revenant. I want to focus on the underperforming legends but there are some global changes as well.
Global changes:
-Reduce the cost of non-Elite Spec upkeep skills by 2. Yes, even IO. Currently clicking IO at the wrong time is way too punishing, and the rest are just not worth their current upkeep cost.
-Healing skills no longer cost energy. Instead they refund it. Glint Heal retains the upkeep cost though but the flip skill will refund some energy.
LEGEND CHANGES:
Ventari
-Project Tranquility: Will now follow the revenant instead of being stationary, and will appear upon swapping to the legend instead of a separate skill. Can no longer be moved by will. Ventari’s Will base self-healing increased by 600%, out of which 25% will be projected to allies. Cooldown increased to 30s.
-Purifying Essence: Energy cost reduced from 30 to 20. Now also breaks stuns.
-Natural Harmony: Healing to allies increased by 50%. Does not affect the casting player.
-Protective Solace: Added an initial energy cost of 10.
Jalis
-Inspiring Reinforcement: Is no longer targeted, will instead be summoned before you not unlike Searing Fissure. Difference is the road will start it’s summoning from 50 distance behind you.
-Forced Engagement: No longer Taunts untraited, instead Immobilizing targets. Also grants Aegis(8s). Energy cost reduced from 35 to 25.
-Vengeful Hammers: No longer gives Vengeful Hammers buff, instead pulsing Protection(1s) every second.
-Rite of the Great Dwarf: Energy cost reduced to 40 from 50. Duration increased to 6s from 5s. Reduced casting time from 1 1/4s to 1/2s. Added a 20s cooldown.
Mallyx
-Empowering Misery: Will now consume conditions up to a maximum of 5. Healing gained per condition reduced by 50%.
-Pain Absorption: Now breaks stuns. Initial Resistance gained increased from 2s to 3s.
-Unyielding Anguish: Energy cost reduced from 30 to 20. Removed the rooting aftercast effect.
-Embrace the Darkness: Removed stat buff. Initial energy cost increased to 10 from 5.
I’ll start thinking on traits later, have other stuff to do for now. When you read specific changes, think on how the global changes affect them.
(edited by Yannir.4132)
If you don’t like how shield behaves, and are looking for alternatives to axe, you might as well give OH sword a try. It lacks the damage potential axe has but is certainly more offensive than the shield. It brings a block that doesn’t root you and you can cherry-pick targets out of a zerg and teleport them into your zerg. (which is hilarious when pulled off)
Everyone asking for a Symbol granting quickness, what kind of number are you talking about? Because anything higher than 0,5sec per pulse means that you would get 5+ sec of quickness with some boon duration, which is ridiculous.
No thank you, hammer is in a great spot.
Hehe, Impossible Odds would like a word with you.
Yeah. But IO is for the rev only. Symbols are AoE. And then there’s “Feel My Wrath!” too which is shared with party. But hey, who says chrono’s are the only class to share quickness?
When I feel like I’m performing well, it’s the best thing in the game. Other days I just can’t seem to get a good game, which is frustrating.
Yes. Nuff said.
But I would pick the one I enjoy more.
