Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
Could you please double-check your spelling? This is painful and confusing to read. I’m not nitpicky about spelling in general but in this case it’s even hard to understand what you are trying to say in some places.
Rev hasn’t been good at 1v1s for a long time
You clearly haven’t seen the ESL 1v1 tournaments. There was 1 player that successfully beat every other class put against it with a rev, including very good mesmers, DH and warriors. This was about 2 weeks and 1 week ago, so after the nerfs as well. And others playing rev haven’t been doing badly either. Tbh, the bad rep rev has been getting lately isn’t entirely deserved.
There is such a thing as listening too much to people on forums. I almost guarantee it’s a small percentage of players(mostly who complain) who get on here to do anything.
That’s why ANet never listens to these forums I guess.. xD If you want to have an impact, Reddit should be your target channel.

Something along these lines. But gotta warn you, it’s a bit of a 1-trick-pony. If your burns are cleansed fast, you lack sustain to keep the fight going and will need to reset.
Well, AFAIK necros are unwanted only in raiding currently. In PvP you may not have the best time being the most frequently focused class but most teams will just focus you in the beginning and forget about it afterwards, so you can have an impact. Necro is one of the best DPS for PvP so when you aren’t focused, you can really make a difference.
Raising the radius of shouts beyond 600 is unacceptable IMO. Especially since shouts don’t require LoS.
I think you are trying to accomplish too much here in some cases, other times you aren’t doing enough. Instead of changing how they function, you could just sharpen their purpose. After all, the reason why warriors mostly don’t use shouts in PvP for example is that they need Zerk Stance and Endure Pain to survive.
I shall counter-propose:
“To the Limit!” – I liked the cd reduction but I would do more. I would also reduce the casting time to 3/4s and reduce the adrenal gain to 10.
The current functionality contradicts itself, since you want the adrenaline at the start but you want to save the heal for a crutch save. Purity of purpose is served here.
“Shake It Off!” – We have enough Resistance on warriors as it is. I would rather turn it into a real condi cleanse, and have it remove additional conditions on the warrior per ally affected.
Removing just 1 condi is rather weak these days, so this is clearly just out-dated. I feel like any option to rival Cleansing Ire is a welcome addition.
“For Great Justice!” – Vigor doesn’t really fit here, since it’s an offensive shout. Honestly I think Vigor would fit better into “SIO!” but I don’t want to put it there because balance. I would just make it grant additional Might for the warrior per target affected. Otherwise this shout is fine, it synergizes well with Might granting traits and it’s spammable. It has just fallen into the “Shouts suck”-pit with the rest of them.
“On My Mark!” – This shout needs a few of tweaks. 1. It should cause 25 Vulnerability instead of the current 10 but the duration should be shorter, 6s for example. 2. It should be Unblockable. 3. Give it a special debuff that makes CC 25% more effective (25% increased duration) on the target for around 4s.
The way I see it, this shout is a burst assist but as Vuln is given out like manure these days, it’s fallen behind in the power curve. This would atleast make it worthwhile.
“Fear Me!” – I would reduce the cd to 40s as well but giving it healing makes no sense IMO, and that would make it an unnecessarily powerful self-heal as well. Instead what I would do is give it a secondary condition, Weakness for 6-8s.
The fear in this shout is just a 1-shot which is easily negated but how I’ve made it would make it useful even if that happens. The current cd is just a relic from somewhere down the line.
As for the traits I would only make 2 changes and 1 of those is an indirect change. Firstly, I would make Shrug It Off trigger at 3 conditions instead of the current 1.
The second change would be simple but major. I would merge Phalanx Strength into Inspiring Presence. Phalanx Strength is pretty much the reason why you want a warrior in any group content, and no other trait can really compete with it. This would make Vigorous Shouts viable, and leave a slot open for a new GM trait in Tactics.
(edited by Yannir.4132)
Sounds complicated but that is definitely not a bad thing! It would be great if an ESpec would introduce something with a high skill cap but great potential. This certainly has potential.
5. Personal Battering Ram. Range is now cone shaped; Ram is also unblockable and ignores stability. Toolbelt skill is already a projectile finisher but now sends several Rams around the user. (5)
This is the only thing I had an issue with. Ignoring Stability is a big no no. Stripping Stability would be much better because counterplay. What’s the point of having Stability if it can be ignored? It alrdy kittenes me off that some PvE monsters can apparently CC me through my Stab.. -.-
Team queue certainly makes it easier , for the players on the teamed side, to farm easy wins.
Short queue times? Yes, the times are short but the match quality is frequently awful. The imbalance is so great that I have actually gotten +rating points for losing a match.
I regard team queue as a crutch for lower skilled players.
Why do you always come in these threads with this? NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HAVING A MIXED QUEUE. IT WOULD ONLY BE TEAMS OF 5 VS OTHER TEAMS OF 5. I’m really not sure how this is so hard to understand.
Also, matchmaking has been pretty great, especially lately. I’ve noticed the ratings of the players on each team has been much more balanced out lately. I think Evan may have already made some adjustments.
Also, pretty sure you can’t gain any rating when you lose a match this season unless you are recovering decay, and by pretty sure I mean I’m about 99% sure.
I watched it happen. The team ratings were so far off that I gained 5 rating points for having lost. That is a pretty serious imbalance. A team queue would make it that much worse.
Besides, I come to PvP. I really don’t want to have to social network and play politics to get a slot on a team.
Having a TeamQ doesn’t mean YOU have to do it. There would still be a soloQ, and these 2 would be completely separate.
Hello guys,
I’m new at the game and i was searching the web for some warrior builds but the metabattle website have some old informations.
My question is quite simple: It’s possoble to de a good dps dealer with GS and 2 axes?
And if possible, what are the best attributes for that?Any suggestion will be considered.
Thank you for helping!
Metabattle is actively moderated, so even if something looks old, it is viable. If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be there.
I would go Sword/Shield for the mobility. Leaps for days. Be sure to pick up Discipline spec line, and go for Warrior’s Sprint for the extra movement speed.
Kilroy Stonekin, weapons – barehanded ala Fronis Irontoe’s Lair
- Brawling Combo Punch
- Brawling Headbutt
- Brawling Hook
- Brawling Jab
- Brawling UppercutInvoking him would bring forth his great battlecry;
“Kiiiiillroooooy Stoooonekiiiiin!”
Me likes this suggestion a lot! ^^
Well… let’s say it, I am a “transform hater” and I aknowledge this spec as a very bad idea, however I’d like to understand a few point :
Do you hate engineer kits as well? Since it was specified that these skills would work like kits, you can pop in and out any time you like.
You can’t really make conditions uncleansable.
Besides, what happens to every other professions’ skills that apply these same conditions? Do they also become uncleansable?
Wouldn’t it be fun if guards had uncleansable burning? 15 stacks appear out of nowhere, and POOOF! You are done.
oh I didn’t know it was able to be worked off. then its weak. how does this sound: starts after 2 days, 50 per day up to 400 permanent.
Why you trying to fix something that ain’t broken? 100 per day is fine after 3 days. Just wish it went all the way down to 0.
I also liked the idea of losing 5-10 rating per day permanently but that should only begin after 7 days maybe.
Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if the gods and the dragons were the same thing. There’s too much overlap, so I don’t believe it but I still would not be surprised..
I’ve heard that as a comm you will want a slightly more tanky set-up than as your run-of-the-mill WvWer but I have no experience on the matter, so I will leave the issue to more experienced ppl.
Wondering if anyone has an answer to a quick side-question. Do venoms shared with allies use your personal condi dmg/healing power for skelk, or theirs?
If you recall, before HoT, the majority of Ranger players were being ostracized from (meta) dungeon groups because we “didn’t bring sufficient party support that another profession could bring better.” So, A-net heard our pleas and gave us the Druid spec; we are now about the best supporting profession in the game.
Next on the shopping list is a solid dps role. I urge you be to patient, as it will likely be coming next expansion.
That applied to PvP as well, where rangers were considered mainly as useless. I remember groaning when seeing 2 rangers in my team on a few occasions.
3.) I think the GM trait is okay but I dont want a herald ripoff. Might be better if they are soft CC conditions, will synergize really well with Predator’s Instinct
I think it would suffice if the boons were only given to the stalker. It would make sense as this seems like a selfish DPS spec first and foremost.
I always cringe when I see an ESpec suggestion that looks taken straight out of WoW. Plagiarizing other known franchises is just lack of creativity. Although I have a creeping suspicion that this suggestion isn’t entirely serious.
The old style engineer was really really super fun. I really miss pistol pistol with nades and toolkit in pvp and at the same time i really like pistol pistol or rifle playstyle in pve. IF you like the “piano” gaming and to change your setup and your way to kill every 10 minutes core engineer is one of the best thing. You can use core engi condition in fractal, also in high level, and even with rifle, if you want , it is viable ( but perhaps not optimal ). Problem is that you will not be the best for any role and other classes will can do thing easier than you . For me it is not a great problem but i don’t play at high levels .
For scrapper it is completely another story. Scrapper is good in spvp and can be good in wvw ( it is too slow for me ) but it has for me a really really big problem : scrapper playstyle is something terribly boring. I think scrapper is one of the most boring thing to play in the game. Rotations are super easy, scrapper is a form of warrior or guardian ( a melee class) really boring to play. Gyros have not real use : in spvp bulk gyro is really good but for the rest thereis really no need to take them imho. In pve other kits are better, in wvw purge gyro is not bad but i prefer elixir C … so they are not that great. Sneak gyro can be usefull .. but only situationally and for pvp i prefer elixir X.
Scrapper playstyle is boring. You have to chase all the time your opponent and hit 11111 while waiting 2 and 3 are ready. The only good thing in scrapper that can is EG… but it is a kit of core engi . I have been playing engi since 2012 and scrapper is something completely different. I have no fun at all. The good thing of scrapper, for me , is only in pvp. It is a good bruiser , it is not great in nothing but it can be a strong class especially for solo becouse if well played you can last a lot . I suggest it to roll it only if you like engi core gameplay becouse it is really fun. Scrapper , if you don’t need it in spvp, is only a really boring and suboptimal thing
I actually have the complete opposite experience. Leveling an engi without tomes was the most grueling experience I’ve had in GW2. (leveling a rev came close though but atleast IO + Sword AA does decent dmg unlike core engi weapons) It was a huge relief when I finally got to use hammer for the 1st time.
hi guys. I was wandering how good is condi ranger in pvp. I tryed few bulds with short bow. Disaster. I can stuck 20 bleeds in few sec but every single calass in game removes the them so easy. Am doung something wrong for sure.
w
The idea is not to stack 1 condi to the maximum, but to stack many different condis fast enough to produce a burst. There’s no readily available builds I can find but for love of all that is holy, do not use shortbow.. S/T or A/T will serve you much better as sources of condi. Staff is pretty much mandatory for the mobility it provides.
Thanks for agreeing that they need to be faster.
Forget it; it took you 3 days to post that crapy response? Man, you’re slow.
Not everybody reads the forum every day. You are being unnecessarily salty.
I feel the problem has always been the locked heal utility and elite. On most every legend I like only maybe 1 or 2 of the 5 skills I get with that legend. Yet on every other class I get to pick from a wide range of heals utilities and elites to suit my playstyle/build.
I think it just needs several more choices of heals utilties and elites to pick from for each legend.
I agree with this. Many of revs issues could be solved by having baseline utility skills that could be thrown into any Legend. That way you would be able to specialize a legend further to deal with specific situations. Like having 2 stunbreaks in shiro, and 2 condi clears in dwarf, for example.
What if there was a trait that let you cast your overloads from 1200 range, similar to meteor shower. Would this make staff ele potentially viable in pvp? Share your thoughts O_O
Nope, not really. As Meteor Shower is one the reasons why staff ele isn’t viable, I don’t see how having OL’s working the same would be any different.
How is Bristleback OP? I’m considering swapping it for something else on my druid because it isn’t really doing much for me…. I get a lot more mileage from my Smokescale.
The system hits average to above average players by forcing them to play maybe hundreds of matches to reach their level unless they got lucky (or had been smart duoing) in placement matches. That more or less the the problem. Broze/silver players will be where they belong and legendary will get up to platin in a resonable ammount of time. The main issue is somewhere inbetween. Also players like me that can only play one class at a good manual level are handycaped and i assume this is a large group.
The self-improvement in this case would be to learn another class to play. As you say, you are actively handicapping yourself by not doing so. Especially if you play a class that doesn’t stack well. It’s just a question of rising up to the challenge. Any argument to the contrary is basically an excuse.
Tbh, I’ve never quite understood why people limit themselves to playing just 1 class. For me the concept of maining just means the class I play the most. That is a thing that will change from time to time. Ofc if you become the foremost authority on a specific class, like lordhelseth is with a mesmer, you are actively handicapping yourself by NOT playing that class. Most people, however, don’t have the time and/or the capacity to do that.
People don’t seem to understand my point. If you lose 7 of 10 placements on purpose to get into bronze, but then go 20-0 for the next 20 games, the system doesn’t stabilize your mmr in bronze. A true show of carry out of bronze would be to get to the point where you gain less mmr than you lose, like people are seeing in their “correct” tier, then starting the climb. I’m not bashing the guy, I just think this was more of a “hey look at me, I’m special” than it was a show of how you can climb in the system.
Your point just makes no sense. The MMR doesn’t settle into anything until you start playing seriously. It only settles when you have reached your peak performance.
i hit plat using a Greatsword Wells necro. If thats not a handicap i dont know what is.
Wells are not actually half bad as long as you actually use the ones that are genuinely useful, which would be Wells of Power and Corruption. And use them against the right opponents.

A conquest map that looks like the introduction area for Sylvari. The dream when they are fighting the nightmares and bridges form from leaves and branches right before your eyes. That would be cool.
Another conquest map that looks like the inside of the dungeon CoE. Dark, lots of pillars, a network of small rooms. Glass or laser barriers showing weird creatures on the walls.
Nice ideas here. But I’d rather have them as Stronghold maps as I think we have plenty of Conquest maps atm and strongholds biggest weakness at this time is the lack of alternative maps. Or maybe even as Deathmatch arenas as it’s suffering from the same problem.
A large 15v15 arathi basin type of map. With Hills, an island in the middle with bridges connecting to each side. 5 points to control. Large hills you can jump from. no gliding though. Could be located in Skrittsburg, Brisband Wildlands. That giant skritt area. Would be cool
Capture the flag on a map similar to warsong gulch. Large and 8 vs 8. Two big multi level bases on each side, separated by a large field in the middle. I would make this in Caledon Forest actually. One base will look like a sylvari themed structure, the other like a human themed structure.
Lastly, I’d make an underground mine that looks like the volcanic fractal. You gotta get supplies and put in carts, and push the carts to your area to gain points. would push carts the same way you push orbs in raids. I’d make this a 5v5v5. blue team vs red team vs yellow team.
I’ve been thinking about issues regarding larger battle sizes in GW2, and feel like a 10v10v10 would be the best larger combat mode. A 10-man 3-way if you will. It would bring tactical aspects that are unheard of in GW2 as of yet. Having it be 3-way would somewhat alleviate the fact that 10 ppl focusing 1 target is an unsurvivable situation. Only guardians, eles, engis and mesmers can realistically survive that focus for more than 6 seconds.
The thing just keeps getting more and more complicated the further you think about this so I’ll just stop it here.
Don’t try to over do it with walls of text. Please be clear and to the point. Thank you ahead of time for your contributions.
Builds should be the ones found on metabattle.com. If you are contributing a specific custom build, don’t.
See, this part here is a bit contradictory.
A. It’s pretty hard trying to explain rotations without going into detail. That will result in a bit of a wall.
B. Pro players don’t necessarily play meta. They may start out with it but as time goes, the build evolves to suit their preferences. Just go check out Roms stream sometime, his druid build isn’t very meta. Or atleast I saw him playing with Wilderness Survival and Axe at one point very successfully.
Just thought I’d post something to keep this on the 1st page. It’s a good thing you are doing here, but your guidelines may be a bit too restrictive.
Hey guys, thought I would make this thread for ideas to share with Anet!
One Idea I had was a PvP arena map where half is on the ground and another part is under water! It would be so much fun to have an area where you have to fight under water! I love the water concept in GW2 and it would be so cool to add that element to structured pvp and or areans!! Chime in on PvP thoughts and potential map ideas!
FYI, there was such a map but it was taken away because of how unbalanced UW combat is. It was called Raid on the Capricorn. Many people, including myself, think it could be a fun little map for hotjoin but not for any rated PvP.
Just some random video I picked off Youtube to show the map to you:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9jy40yFqzs
So 6,5k health straight up without waiting for the traps activation? I can climb on board that.
Ah I worded that incorrectly, I was just trying to say that no regen means that all of the healing would be at once rather than gradual like it is with regen. I still think that healing should be reliant on the trap’s triggering, but the distribution of healing should be 50/50 rather than the current roughly 20/80 split. 3.25k health up front is pretty nice.
I wouldn’t have an issue with that either. The current healing is a bit absurd considering that Signet of Resolve should be our biggest heal. And currently they are at the same level roughly.
OK so looking at the wiki you can buy quartz which means you should be able to charge it to make celestial and also buy the recipes.
However I also found from the wiki that free accounts can’t access the forum’s so I’m a bit puzzled by the question now. If you’re free you shouldn’t be able to post here. If you just don’t have HoT but the base game purchased then craft cele and stick water, monk or traveler runes on it. I’d personally recommend traveler or monk over water though as most of water runes bonuses you can’t use with the signet or are kinda meh.
Maybe he’s asking on behalf off someone else, or has an f2p alt account?
No.
Experience matters very little, there are players with Thousands of more hours than me and absolutely struggle in bronze.
A rank requirement should be removed entirely, the whole point of ranked is to balance the players to their appropriate skill levels.
Anyone can carry their team in bronze, so if you’re struggling to win in that range the issue is not the new player, it’s yourself.
There are new players in high gold and even platinum, because they are good at the game… Experience has nothing to do with it.
I have news for you, PvE players can actually be decent in pvp. Isn’t that a shock? That’s the whole point of the rating system. It puts you in your place, yeah your teammates may sick but guess what so does the enemy team have those same crap teammates (they have the same rating usually.)
What did you hope to achieve with this outburst? Regardless I agree to some degree but nobody automatically knows what’s going on in PvP so an entry level is necessary. 20 is as good 40 so I don’t really care tbh.
I was a PvE’er once, now I’m somewhat of a hybrid I think. I still PvE but nowadays I PvP a lot as well.
So 6,5k health straight up without waiting for the traps activation? I can climb on board that.
Pvp meta and antimeta is defined by what most poeple run.
That’s not true. It simply can’t be, or does metabattle run polls in HotM mapchat? Meta is defined by the top players running it. Power necro is meta because Nos is running it. Not the average players, and/or most people. And top players are usually team oriented. Whereas competent soloQers pretty much take care of themselves.
But if we had system with exclusive amulet per class…hmm
No offense intended but I would downvote this if I could. A really bad idea since it would immediately create more imbalance between classes, and by design/intent. It’s a nice idea to toy with but the reality is that it doesn’t work at all.
Additionally, you can’t just suddenly come up with 9 different unique amulets for each class. You would have to take some amulets away from being available to all, and that’s bad as well.
Now if this is an issue at all I rather think it would better if they split the amulets into an amulet and a ring combination that would split stats 70/30. You could then have celestial as a ring stat but it wouldn’t give such a large distribution as it would currently. (it doesn’t have to be a ring, it could be anything really)
Bulwark: Taunt enemies when you activate Shield of Courage. Shield of Courage is larger and lasts longer.
Frankly I like this one the most as well. On a 180 or 240 radius maybe?
The downside would be that it would be DH only, not guardian. There might be other options to skirt around this. Like Retaliatory Subconscious or maybe one of the signets, but they would have to be adjusted accordingly. Signet of Wrath obviously lacks a purpose so that could be a good candidate.
1 on 1, we’re okay. if we play right we can beat just about anything thrown at us. when it gets into larger and larger fights our ability to stay alive diminishes rapidly.
It’s offtopic but okay…
If you go Knights or Paladin your sustain is pretty high. This does not affect your role as the boon corrupting class. If you still want to run Marauder you have options like Spectral Armor and Rise!. Spectral Armor during Shroud is functionally a block/invuln.
ANet gave necro options to invest in sustain gear and still maintain damage.
Examples:
- +50% crit chance in shroud
- increased crit chance on vulnerable foes
- 25 might (self stacked)
- functionally increased damage through boon corrupts (e.g. protection corruption)I don’t get why people are ignoring this for years now.
It’s like when everyone was telling me Power Reaper is bad and I got carried by others to division 5+ for 4 seasons. Suddenly a variant of the build I run since HoT release is used by NOS and now everyone says it’s super strong. Just laughable.
I’m a 100% on board with this statement. Been using power corruption reaper since s2 and doing pretty great with it, and ppl still told me to swap to condi because power wasn’t meta. Meta isn’t necessarily the best possible solo build, it’s just the build that synergizes best with other meta builds generally. But when the team comp is off by just 1 single class, meta suddenly loses all meaning.
I think TeamQ will not work as it was, as much as I hope it would.
However I think it would work with some limitations. Like only being able to queu there during weekends. That would focus the teams into a certain time frame instead of spreading them out through the week. And 5-man team entry only.
In fact, Spite provides so much sustain for power builds that you can quite comfortably 1v1 druids, scrappers and thieves.
You can comfortably 1v1 thieves? Wish I had that kinda luck lol. Only way I have a chance in that matchup is when I have 75%+ LF and can flip Spiteful Spirit multiple times.
If I expect to be fighting thieves 1v1(or any other time I expect a lot of CC), I slot Well of Power. Wait for the Steal so they don’t swipe your Stab, and then pop the well. Fire away with axe until they back off. I rarely kill them if they are good but it’s a win anyway if they leave.
How about PvP Infusions with a unique aura effect? Or a PvP shoulderpiece like Nightfury? How about a PvP currency you can use to buy t6 mats with? These would all be r80+ only and Account Bound on Acquire. Or maybe 100+.
The secret of the necromancer/reaper at this time is that power builds are actually better than condi builds if you soloQ and/or don’t have a dedicated support class in your team. They have a lot more sustain because of how Spite synergizes with Chilling Victory and Blighter’s Boon. As a condi you will practically never go for BB because of that other GM trait.
In fact, Spite provides so much sustain for power builds that you can quite comfortably 1v1 druids, scrappers and thieves. DHs, mesmers and warriors are not that comfortable but it can be done. Condi necro is a non-issue, and you eat revenants and eles for breakfast because of how they rely on their boons.
Well of Power is exchangeable to whatever, I usually go with “Rise!” or SA, or swapping Plague Signet for NCSY is also an option if there’s no condi on the other team. Which almost never happens but anyway.
I basically take credit for power necro being meta. Even if the meta is not what I’m running.
(edited by Yannir.4132)
Well, melee generally does hit harder…
Well, considering Zan is consistently on the top 2 EU, I’d say scrappers are atleast viable.
Yea I don’t think the FG needs more stomp and ress capability. It rather needs abilities ouside of this area.
For example, being able to use it on alive allies to boost their dps for 15s or something like that. It’s half of a mechanic right now.
Or maybe allies ressed by the function gyro gain Fury and Protection, or something like that?
Highest burst in the game? Not even close, Sc/F ele with arcane wave can take 20k off people, though they’d have to be special to be hit by dragons tooth, triple phoenix, electrical discharge, lightening bolt and arcane wave.
Mesmer doing a full burst while also predictable can do more than thief but in terms of current meta builds and viable builds warrior takes a big old dump on thief burst. 5k headbutt into 6k arc divider, gg.
While a warrior can do just that every 20s, thief has a high DPS all the time. Thief will out-DPS a warrior even with AA only.
Emperor Palpatine says howdy!
White skin, Celestial hair, White glow, Shadow Abyss Arcane Outfit, Fresh Air (eg Lightning-based) Staff Elementalist. For obvious reasons.
You should unlock that Plasma Sword in case ele gets sword in the next Xpac.
They could just increase the range to say 600 or 450 make it unblockable, and boom Sw OH would be plenty viable
Personally I alrdy favor OH Sword over Shield. I prefer mobile blocking.
