It’s just that Dragonhunter fixed so many problems guardians had that you can’t live without it. I think the support side of the Firebrand is coming from the virtues and axe is supposed to be this pure condi dmg thing. Firebrand will probably only be used in pve IF the dmg is higher than DH and in WvW because the frontline specs don’t/didn’t need DH. Dragonhunter just fills too many holes in the other gamemodes.

Imo that kinda is a good thing. It’s really hoped that specs gave different gameplays and would be more or less useful in different enviroments. If a specs is just a 2.0 version of what we already have, then it have no point in being called a specialization, they would have put them as linear job advancements.

Why’d you have to bring Daredevils into this?

I don’t think they just got fed up with “teh lootstick” but instead there’s something going on behind the scenes.

My prediction would be that they are adding Barrier to the staff auto, as we know that the barrier update hasn’t gone live yet. It will go live eventually, before of after PoF, no one knows. ANet has stated that some core classes will get access to barrier, and guardian is a strong candidate for that.

Patience people, this probably isn’t the last we’ve seen of this topic.

I don’t think that is worth. Now the highest DPS is Zeal/Radiance/DH, if you kill any of these lines for Virtues your DPS gonna get cut down significantly.

Also, this will only happen if you can keep killing to refresh, so useless on bosses.

I believe the new Signet trait have more potential to increase damage as group.

Perfect Inscriptions was already a hair away from being the top pick in Radiance, now it’s the no-brainer choice. And further on the positive side, you can now use your Bane Signet freely on breakbars as it actually buffs group damage even if yours drops a bit.

If anyone missed it, Guardian signets just became a very good group buff for raiding etc. The buff is bigger (218) than your standard group buff (150) but it’s not 100% uptime.

Everything sounds pretty good to me, except the water dagger 2 and the magnetic leap suggestion. They look rather unneccesary.

I didn’t think the magnetic leap suggestions through. I just hate how slow the leap animation is and would like to see that changed somehow.

Maybe revert it back to how it was originally, and re-merge the 2 skills? Having this skill in 2 equally unimpressive parts just sucks. I have no idea why they even changed it to begin with.

Honestly, the best case scenario here would be a stat combination that doesn’t exist. Which would be Power (main) – Ferocity – Condition Damage. If you’d like 4 stat, add in Expertise as a minor and elevate Conddmg to a main stat.

- Overcapped crit fixed by picking Dhuumfire instead of Death Perception. Burning always adds significant DPS, as a rule. Decimate Defenses provides a more stable source of crits, even if you lose the Might from Chilling Victory. This is more personal preference than anything else, so feel free to do that the other way around.

Why bother with d/p (are you a masochist or one of those super skilled guys)? Play d/d condi “perma” evasion = free win for your team. You just can’t loose any 1 vs 1 as d/d + p/d(sb) Thief. Even p/p builds work better then d/p.
People always like to put more and more effort into everything. Why would you drive a car, if you can run. And since d/d is too easy why don’t we all play meta d/p build with zero survivability? I really don’t get all these d/p thieves jumping in the middle of the fight and dying 3 sec later … What do they want to prove???

Because Death Blossom has a 1/4 second window in which the thief can do absolutely nothing, locked into the animation, and good players will hit the thief in that window and murder them. D/D is a rather crappy gimmick of a playstyle. But it does work on low ranks.

After 10 seconds it’s actually the best downed state. Pull them to you first, then when they try to stomp you, you throw them back with the bomb. Usually when they to stomp you again, you already have the pull back from cd. Before that it’s utter BS.

Well, the choice comes down to whether you like the mobility and high heal/burst potential of druid, or whether you like the mastery of all situations on scrapper.

Personally I wouldn’t make the choice and I would just keep playing with both. Neither of those classes stacks well when there’s 2 on the team, so I would always go with the one the team is missing.

To be fair, I was playing mender engi yesterday in ranked (gold 2), and lost a 1v1 to a condi mesmer. But I was stupid and ate a double moa in the face. In any event I think condi mesmer and mender engi are the 2 strongest 1v1 classes atm.

This is the bruiser build I use mostly. Deals really well with most classes, even in 1v2 situations. Notable weakness is condi mesmers if you can’t kill them quickly. Their repeated condi application will just wear you down eventually.

The name Spellbreaker implies a number of things that might happen but mostly that it’s a defensive playstyle.

A. The daggers will probably focus on boon stripping and mobility skills. Quickness, swiftness, etc also seem likely. Probably anti-kiting skill as well, which means control conditions.
B. Utilities will focus on overcoming “spells” which probably means anti-cc and anti-condi. They will not be boon-heavy, however.
C. Traits will likely be strongly defensive. I think they will try to partially replace either Defense or Discipline trait lines, which have been rather mandatory (atleast PvP) for warriors for a long time. But there’s also probably going to be a line of traits to improve weapon skills, and other stuff.

Well, that’s my fantasy but I think razah could be a very domineering legend that instead of sharing it’s spot with another legend like it’s done at the moment, would be a primary legend that we can’t leave but with a set of skill that is tainted with the power of the 4 basic legends.

In other words, we would end up with F1 (mallyx), F2 (Jallis), F3 (shiro), F4 (ventarii) tainting with their “essences” the basics skills belonging to Razah. A lot like glyphs work with elementalist attunment.

In my view, This could give a lot more flexibility to the revenant than what we got at the moment. Well, at the same time there is also a lot of restraint in this system.

What is this class you are talking about? I wish Rev was like that…

I’d go with something along these lines. If your gonna tank, you might as well go condi. But you probably are not going to be raid tanking with a necro. Current situation withstanding, not ever.

I tried to emphasize LF generation while maintaining some offense capability via conditions and Might generation from Spite. “Rise!” will also work well in the build.

For Open Worlding, I would replace Radiance with Honor, swap the Scholar Runes for Pack Runes and drop Bane Signet and Test of Faith for “Retreat!” and Judge’s Intervention. Having some mobility is infinitely more fun than pure DPS, and you’ll still destroy things in under 5 seconds.

For Open World :
don’t waste gold with rune swapping, take 13 silver worth swiftness on kill food , drop retribution trait and use sword for mobility/blind/cleave.

I think foods are a waste of money for Open World, and a constant hassle. So are rune sets, on the other hand, but as for myself, I have a separate OW Marauder armor in addition to my fractal/raid Berserker set.

I think its better to get the FGS before you start the Fire Overload, as you get the FGS buff (condi dmg) while you are overloading. Also, might throw a FGS #2 before and after the overload while you are at it.

Endless stab beats little stab.
Endless boons make boon removal / corruption useless.
Resistance beats all condi builds, and another skill that makes them immune to dmg (not a boon so can’t be removed woohoo)

Get your facts straight.
-Warriors don’t have endless stab. They have stab on F2, and any stunbreak, of which there are a total of 2 in the meta build. Which is not too much. Just enough to get by. Stability pulsing no longer exists.
-Stab is always corrupted first. Resi is converted to chill, which is brutally efficient for a condi necro, and good for a power necro as well.
-Resistance is totally a boon. It’s been a year from that particular Berserker Stance change.

If teams are really dodging each other,that’s pathetic. But again playing for 5g and 500g at end of month is joke. Unless Sindrener’s team (don’t know what they call themselves) drop out or skip tournament,they gonna win everytime and people will get bored of getting smacked around and quit. Skill gap is just too big.

Honestly, it’s not that big a gap. They just happen to be pretty much the only team with all former pro league players. Other teams have a few but the rest need to catch up. And they will, as soon as they get used to their teams and teamplay in general once again.

The team with Helseth, Misha and Sind will be very strong in the beginning, the first couple of months. But after the summer they’ll start losing tournaments to teams that adapt better than they do. Helseth is an impeccable tactician and a playmaker, and Sind has the best rotational skills and map awareness in this community, and they both represent the best 1v1 skills against other players of their own class; but that comp of players has 1 obvious weakness. With 2 players that won’t change professions (even when said professions are A class atm) in any situation, they are open to counter comping which a good enough team can take advantage of, and eventually someone will. They already lost rounds to other teams in UGO, and it’s only a matter of time when they lose two.

@Roman God of War, It really is just simple math. You take the cooldowns of both skills and find a shared point down the line. In the case of Glyph of Storms and Glyph of Elemental Power, for example, that point would be at 5 mins, in which time you will use GoS 5 times, and GoEP 12 times.

Glyph of Elemental Power DPS: 12 (# of times you use the skill) * 5 (# of procs a single use gives) * 2,356 (damage per proc) = around 141 k total

Glyph of Storms DPS: 5 * 10 * 1,571 + (5 * 10 * 354 this is the power damage portion of GoS) = around 98 k total

Numbers are taken straight from the editor page. There are other perks to using GoEP instead of GoS such as reliability (enemies may wander away from fields), and ease of use (you basically just use GoEP off cd), but mainly it just has better DPS.

Now that they seem to be done with there rule of finniser / fields on the same atument they need to look into making an earth field for ele class and maybe ele only. Bleed projectile, crippler wherle, protection blast, and root leap.

Isn’t an earth field basically just a field? And honestly that sounds a bit like ranger territory to me. Could be both though.

Hello,

I’d like to hear your opinions on warrior after the nerf:

1. Reading the patchnotes – it seems to me that the condi build took a bigger hit. Did that hit put the condi build behind in effectiveness or is it still better than the power build despite the bigger nerf?

2. If I chose the condi build is it still mace/shield + LB or maybe sword/shield + LB?

3. If I chose the power build is axe now superior with the buffs it got or is that too still mace/shield + GS?

4. And finally: Bloody Roar or Eternal Champion? (If I had to make a guess I’d say BR if there’s a lot of boon corruption on the enemy roster, otherwise EC.)

1. The power build is pretty much better now. Though the torch changes yesterday may alrdy have shifted the balance again.

2. Still M/S. Sword is not a good weapon in any scenario. (the primal burst misses really easily)

3. They are pretty even, though I’m personally leaning on the axe. Axe has a ranged attack and more reliable Primal Burst for keeping up AH, but mace has 2 CC skills and a block. Axe is better for pure damage as well which was the case even before the buffs.

4. Exactly as you deduced, it’s situational. Good job!
-Personally as I use axe, I prefer Bloody Roar to replace the CC I lost with ditching mace.

I wouldn’t have thought so, but one of your brethren started a thread on the warrior subforum saying otherwise.

The general consensus over there is that he’s got some serious l2p issues, but he seems resistant to the notion that anything is required beyond massive nerfs to warrior. He won’t get any love over there with that approach, so I bring the matter to you:

  1. What tips and tricks can you provide to help him do better against warriors? (Or,)
  2. Is he right that warriors are so crazy stronk vs necros in pvp that there’s no hope?

(I’d have thought necro has plenty of tools to deal with warriors, but could be wrong)

It’s all about the player. So yeah, it’s an L2P issue. I beat Necros with a Warrior, and warriors with a necro. To be fair, my necro build is designed to take out warriors specifically. Whereas when I play my warrior, all the necros that come across seem to be made of paper.

-Malice + Geomancy are the best sigils for the pve meta build (on both weapon sets) while Berserker rune are the most damaging, but i suggest you to run hydromancy sigil and keep Krait runes if you can’t get an ascended gear, only for budget.

Just wondering how exactly Geomancy could possibly be better than Hydromancy sigil. Hydro is a soft CC that triggers Deathly Chill for 3×5 s bleeds, whereas Geo is just a 10 s bleed.

Are you familiar with Witchhunters from the Warhammer universe or Inquisitors from the 40k side? That’s how I could/would imagine a guardian with guns.

Well no, if you think guardians are like paladins. If you think of them more like a crusader, it starts to feel better as a comparison. As guardian is not the goody-two-shoes archetype but a greyer profession than that what you know from other games.

ps. the reason why i would not like them for the TP is because i know how out of hand this can go, a ridicules price for a tome will happen within a month or less.

It’s unlikely the price would start climbing at any point since there is a steady flow of them into the game via daily logins and reward tracks in WvW and PvP. There would rather be the opposite problem of them being at such a low price point that selling them no longer becomes useful and it will trivialize the leveling process for new players. (for older players it alrdy is trivial/non-existent)

I’m in favor of them becoming an item that you could vendor for 3-5 silver each. 30 is way too much.

The GW1 dervish won’t ever come to GW2 as it is too Human God focused. The mechanics, to an extent have been worked into current GW2 classes, can’t think of which, but unless they changed the lore behind the dervish (would kitten a lot of people off most likely) the class won’t make it into game.

Actually, not so much. The prevalent mechanic of the Dervish was consuming enchantments for even more powerful attack combinations. No current class really does that. Furthermore, I don’t feel like the PBAoE aspects of the dervish have been carried out very well either. I’m still waiting on halberds to fix that issue some day.

You do however have a point in that the Dervish will never make a comeback in GW2 as an ESpec or a character class, and exactly for the stated reasons. We could see dervishes as enemies or NPC’s though.

Sorry if you did something unique and got away from circle dancing pvp, maybe did a courtyard arena tournament i would be down to play in it or watch. PvP is on it’s dying breath in gw2 until 2v2 tdm or 5v5 tdm comes around to ranked

I guess you guys haven’t noticed but there isn’t a single weapon skill in this game that grants Stability directly. Ofc, rev could be the class to break this rule but I think it’s unlikely.

The likeliest place they’ll consider putting Stab is Legend Swapping, and more specifically the traits Empty Vessel or Cleansing Channel.

How to get better condi clear on ele

You have to build for clears on ele giving up traits. Ele the one class who dose not have a good utility for clears alone. You run water (selfish set up) or you run earth, arcain can kind of clear but not that well as well as fire but i think fire alone is the worst, air has nothing nor dose tempest.

Ele is just hard counter by condis and any type of boon control that why ele is super weak in this meta for pvp.

Well, I wouldn’t say super weak but indeed not that great. Gotta remember that almost every team in the Unity tournament was using ele in their team. A different story for soloQ obviously.

Sc/torch-hammer or Sw/focus is a very good combination. You can also swap to longbow for some special fights. Lb dps is not good but you can complete the fight..

Lvl 72 guardians don’t have access to Longbow yet.

Warrior is fine. Personally, I just swapped mace for axe, and swapped Eternal Champion for Bloody Roar. Works great. Axe Primal Burst gives AH more reliably than mace, and axe is better as a power weapon atm. GS is still great, Burst being a tiny bit slower now. There’s nothing wrong with using Eternal Champion btw, it’s just not a must-pick anymore.

I think the meta/balance hasn’t changed all that much, as the nerfs were pretty across the board where it was due. DH being the most nerfed class. Even that is still viable, just not a noobstomper anymore.

Raid wise, as everyone has said, Scepter/Torch + Greatsword. For out in the world, every weapon on Guardian is useful unlike weapons on other classes. So while leveling I highly suggesting getting used to every weapon and what it can do. You never know when you might come across a problem that is easily solved by using something else.

Now if you want a trait set-up for open world that lets you chew through mobs, you want Permeating Wrath from Virtues (top of the 3rd column), and the scepter trait (zeal, bottom of the 1st column). These basically let you have 25 might all the time while wielding the scepter (so long as you don’t use Virtue of Justice) and will let you melt pretty much everything that crosses your path.

That’s true. As a guardian you want to have all weapons available for use as they are all good given the right situation. You don’t have any useless weapon types. Mace or Staff may not be good for Open World situations though, and are certainly weapons I use the least.
