It’s annoying for some classes.

For others it’s a autokill trait.

I main a necro in PvP. It’s certainly not an autokill trait.

Even when your concerns about the trait in WvW are legit, this is the wrong place for it as any PvP changes to Ancient Seeds are unlikely to affect WvW.

Actually the other way around, warrior was nerfed a bit but power DH is totally broken. Burn DH still works reasonably well.

I’d say power necro is a bit OP now. Axe buffs in the last patch were insanely good. Atleast the build I’m using can 1v1 on point against pretty much any class, and 1v2 vs most classes around the point as well. The only 1v2 you will definitely lose is vs another power necro and a support/ a +1’er.

It’s a strange build, i’ve never tried to run a power necro build without ferocity

With the build you don’t really need Ferocity, as your damage comes from sitting on a full stack of Might. Additionally, both weapon sets are really good for racking up LF, and shroud is mostly used for relieving pressure, as you regain health in shroud while attacking. It has a ramp up time but what necro build doesn’t?

Your only true counter in this build is another necro as you effectively cancel each other out. You do gain lots of Might but it’s relatively easy to get stripped of it since it’s pretty much the only boon you have without support.

I’ve tried the build with Marauder and Demolisher but they don’t cut it as you go down before you have a chance to do anything substantial. Paladin really does enable you to survive the initial teamfight focus. Or at least outlast the guy your own team is targeting.

With the nerf to stability, this trait seems very strong now. I’m OK with the elite as it is. It has a long cool down and an obvious tell. However, a trait that procs an elite skill every 20 seconds seems pretty strong.

It’s single target so it’s essentially 1/5 of an Elite skill. And it’s not even exactly unblockable like the Elite. I think it’s fine. It’s annoying but it’s still fine.

With barrage it can hit more than one person. It can be done at full longbow range vs. area around the player. It only processes when it hits vs. the elite which can be dodged. It has advantages over the elite. It is the roots on the trait that make it too strong imo. They got rid of pulsing stability, but the pulsing immobilize roots you need to kill before you can get out of them is still there.

Honestly you need to get behind the fact that you will need to alt if you want to progress those achievements. It’s made that way because they want you to go through the effort of trying out new classes. Effort is what makes you earn that LEGENDARY.

The problem with requiring alting is that it means you have to effectively throw a season in order to get it. If you are someone that really cares about performing well in PvP the Ascension is nearly impossible because nobody that cares about their rating is going to go play classes they aren’t as comfortable with.

You literally have to whelp a season to get the backpack.

I think your threshold for trying out new classes might be too big. The off-season is indeed long enough to learn a new class to a decent level, as long as you don’t pick up one of the high skill floor classes like thief or mesmer. (although condi thief skill floor is kinda debatable atm) As someone said earlier, rotation skills and map awareness trump mechanical skill with your class by a long haul. And those are skills you learn for any class.

It may be a good idea for anyone learning a new class to try out a class that plays similarly to your main. Bruiser for bruiser, healer to healer, and figure out what the differences are, then work off of that to improve.

Nothing to really do with this post but I out-sustained a LB/Staff druid 1v1 on point in PvP yesterday with a Power Necro, so I’m pretty happy with that. Skill level was comparable, they did some things right and some things wrong, just as I did. (for example, I failed to see his LB #4 coming when I was approaching the point he was on)

Druid has to give up the node to a Necro. They can win the fight, but a decap is nearly guaranteed.

And had I played condi, that would’ve been an even bigger advantage for me but as I play power with no staff, I always have a range disadvantage vs most classes. Especially LB/Staff druids. Still I won, so I’m good with that.

Necro wells under powered

If ever there was an Elite Well, it would have to be Well of Corruption. Incredibly useful when used correctly. The first pulse corrupts Stab into Fear which will destroy anyone who’s not a warrior.

There’s nothing majorly wrong with it, as it’s basically the Symbolic Guard build.

Consider a few things though:
-Swapping one of the weapons to sword. It has a low cd gap closer and symbol in it.
-Your rune choice is alright but consider trying Lynx, Traveler or Speed Runes as well.

And like the symbolic build, it has the same weakness which is CC. Warriors will give you a tough time.

The only signet that is mostly useless is Signet of Water. All other 4 are strong if used correctly. SoR being the strongest, Air being second and the other two being interchangeable in their usefulness. Adding Fire’s Embrace will simply cover the weakspots that signets have over cantrips, the lack of cleanses.

Yet cantrips themselves are inferior to shouts. The place for cantrips is mostly in builds that don’t utilize Tempest(aside from Lightning Flash). Fire’s Embrace would not cater to the same builds as to make it work as a cleanse, you need Tempest.

I can see your point but I just think signets should have their own niche instead of trying to copy what another utility does.

How to make Arcane competitive

Arcane Fury: Traits that proc on swapping to the attunement of the spec they’re in is amplified. Healing Ripple: Healing is changed from 1302 to 2100, radius is increased to 360. Electric Discharge: Damage increased from 249 (without power) to 426. Sunspot: Damage increased from 178 to 426, applies 1 burn for 2 seconds (without expertise), and radius is increased to 360. Earthern Blast: Damage increased from 80 to 426, cripple increased to 5 seconds, applies 2 bleed for 5 seconds.

Elemental Enchantment: Increase the duration added to boons to 20%.

Final Shielding: Arcane Shield’s cooldown decreased to 60, to match the utility skill.

Evasive arcana: Flame Burst’s damage is increased from 27 to 210. Cleansing Wave’s condition cleanse is increased to 2 to match the skill in dagger offhand. Shock wave’s damage is increased to 256, the cripple is increased to 5 seconds. The radius of all of these is increased to 360.

Arcane Fury: Numbers are always easy to adjust but I think something more interesting might be warranted. How about:
-When you proc a traited attunement swap effect, you proc all traited attunement swap effects simultaneously. Example: You have Arcane, Fire and Water specs.
You swap to Fire to proc Sunspot, but you also proc Healing Riple and Cleansing Wave from Water at the same time. Then you swap to Water to use Healing Riple/Cleansing Wave but you also proc Sunspot.

Elemental Enchantment: I think this trait is fine, and shouldn’t be touched.

Final Shielding: The cooldown is alrdy 60 seconds. You probably meant dropping it down to 40s like the skill is currently.

Evasive Arcana: This one is a bit tricky. Buffing its individual components will inevitably powercreep those weapon skills as well. So essentially it’s a double buff each time you change something. So how I would change it:
-Have it trigger a lesser version of Arcane Wave with a 240 radius and only 50% damage. This instead of any of the element spells.

In addition as this would be a change for the Arcane line this would be more of a buff for core elementalist. The majority of Tempest builds that I know of don’t use the Arcane line.

Well, Arcane encourages changing attunements as much as possible where Tempest rewards staying in 1 attunement for longer.

This is mainly for PvP, the Fire line is pretty terrible in that mode.

Then put a [PvP] tag in the title. Because the line is pretty great in PvE.

Didn’t the word “competitive” tip you off on that? PvE as a whole is not competitive in any way.

I was gonna make a thread about fire spec as well but as you got here before me, that would be a bit redundant so I’ll just give this my 2 cents.

Burning Precision: cooldown reduced to 4. (this will add synergy because most skills while tuned to fire when using Pyromancer’s Training is a multiple of 4).
Conjurer: Removed and replaced with the signet trait that gave fire aura.
Sunspot: Applies burn
One with fire: Increases the duration of might by 20%
Blinding Ashes: Cooldown reduced to 6 seconds

I don’t think these changes hit your goal. My suggestions:
1. Burning Precision: Internal Cooldown reduced to 2 seconds. ICD is now per unique target.
2. Sunspot: No longer deals damage. The fire aura is now shared with nearby allies, range increased to 240. Has beautiful synergy with Tempest.
-This makes changes to One With Fire by synergy, as it now has the potential to give you 10 Might at a time when attuning to fire. You could even double that up with “Feel the Burn!”. (in fact, you can do that with the shout even now)
3. Blinding Ashes: Duration and ICD are reduced by 2 seconds, now 2 and 6 seconds respectively. ICD is now per unique target.

Changing the Conjurer trait into another spec will just screw over that spec, so I don’t think swapping its place will do anything other than move the problem elsewhere. So it has to be somewhere, why not in Fire? Moving it is simply not constructive or useful.

And honestly, I think people overestimate Fire’s Embrace. It doesn’t really strike me as something I would want in my build. Fire Aura on signets would be nice but honestly most signets aren’t very useful in the first place.

Elite for Condi Ele

Elementalists are built around burst damage with a few niche roles in healing. It seems you want Eles to be a jack of all trades, master of none class, when there are other classes primarily designed for condition damage. My question is why do you refuse to use the superior power builds available to you?

The thing is eles are supposed to be a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none class. But you really can’t build it that way, as when you spec for damage, you lose sustain and support, and when you spec for sustain and support, you lose all damage.

In a way it’s good that each spec and attunement has a clearly defined purpose, but they all go too far in what they do and there’s not enough overlap to build reliably for a hybrid spec that could prosper, for example, in PvP. You drop Earth spec you lose your defenses, you drop Water you lose your advanced condi clear and party support. Fire or Air can only partially make up for Earth’s defenses and their offenses don’t make up for losing Water’s utility.

Parasitic Contagion

Heal through shoud in general is a (badly working) crutch for necros mobility issues. Even Blighter’s Boon on a power build is super situational. How many shroud autos do you land on a thief or mesmer?

It actually works rather well for Blighter’s Boon. I can think of several times when I’ve healed myself from 25% hp to full while in shroud. Honestly, you should really never come across mesmers or thieves alone as that’s not your role. And it’s always funny how warriors think they can win the fight when I have even half a bar of LF when in fact it’s a fleetingly small chance they have.

You mean when there was a Blizzard in Seattle that prevented people from reaching ANet HQ to work on the release? Other than that, there’s never been a scheduled release that was “delayed” — most release at 9-10 am ANet time, a few 10am-noon, and even fewer in the afternoon. But they’ve never promised the time; only the date.

Which might be an hour before midnight in the EU, like Rising Flames was. Barely made it on the designated date. I’d rather they give us an exact time a few days before. Then afterwards, if it’s delayed, give us a notification on that as well.

Honestly, if guardian gets a condi Espec, it probably isn’t going to be burn-based, but instead it’ll be bleed-based. The new ESpec might not get burning on f1 at all.

Now the good thing about armor is that there are 6 pieces of it. Instead of doing the entire set based on professions or cultures, they can do single pieces based on those things. Like a human cultural helmet, and gauntlets for warriors for example.

Operation Flashpoint, only one of the greatest PC games ever made and basicly what ushered in the era of true wargaming (1 year ahead of Battlefield 1942)… and you think of DC comics?!?!

Likewise back at you, I had never heard of the DC hero before, I know Flash and that he has a show now, but really no more than mention of the name. So how is a DC comic character more relevant than a mission of a popular game?

Because I would argue that the TV show is more popular than the game? Didn’t mean to sound disrespectful/rude btw, just came out that way.

It’s not the first time in this game; it won’t be the last time either.

I don’t have a problem with it — I can choose to prepare or I can choose to wait. I might want to get an early start because I care more about the functionality — frankly, I only like about 10% of the skins in the game, so I never expected that I would want Legendary Armor for its looks alone.

I always find that I usually hate most skins on first glance, yet later I find a combination I like them in. For example, I hated Bladed Armor initially but now 2/3 of my heavies use atleast 1 piece of it. Despite the Blade kitten.

Quickest way to level a character?

Just as a rather unrelated fact: The fastest way to level is the Mad King’s Labyrinth. With proper boosts you gain around 6-7 levels per hour provided you find a sizeable zerg. Ofc, MKL isn’t available this time of year.

Trailblazers Question

The only time I got a Maguuma Lily was from a Magic-Warped Bundle. And I spent A LOT of time in the jungle.

However I do like that there are items that are actually worth something. I hated the maguuma event re-haul in the fact that it totally de-valued Black Diamonds, which were initially worth good money.

If you cannot manage your cooldowns then yes, it is a matter of skill.

so dont play with skill because you will need cooldowns for possible dh traps thats very logic

If you know there is a DH on the map, you keep track of where they are because you know that if you get caught by them unawares, it will be your downfall. It’s how DH plays, catching unaware targets by surprise. You treat thieves the same way. That’s why you save a skill that will help you in the event the DH shows up.

It is a matter of skill actually. It’s what separates good players from average ones. Getting tunnel visioned to a single enemy, or even 2, shouldn’t affect your map awareness.

But tbh, Dragon’s Maw could use a nerf(PvP only).
Reduce the barriers duration to 3s and cut the damage by 20%.

Honestly I don’t see much problem with how the conditions themselves are implemented. Most of the issues are rooted in how much a given class can apply them. Biggest offenders here would be burnguard, condi mesmer and condi warrior as these are the bursty condi classes. Necro is more like the traditional attrition type, and condi thief as well to a lesser degree.

Guys, you defending this ludicrous method is ridiculous! It’s unbearable to ask for money when it was originally for free. New players don’t and won’t have any understanding why they have to pay again. You progress the freaking main story! And besides: the original content of HoT was so tiny with no dungeons and only 3 real maps to explore and then they dare to ask for money progress in the main story? What the hell? Guys really, I don’t get it, are you really so blind by fanboyism that you really defend this business model? I am completely speechless…

They aren’t asking for money, they are asking for gems. Gems can be acquired by gold.

Glad they removed. I hope Anet “tomes” all transform skills.

well i knew how to use them on WvW…. and people usually thanked me back.
still they were very situational elites, but these one actually … are useless to me.
So guardian atm only has 1 elite skill…

1 elite to refresh virtues every 90sec….. that is the only elite skill Guadian/DH has.

Well yeah, no guardian should be using anything but Renewed Focus in WvW. That goes without say. But outside wvw (and pvp I guess), “Feel my wrath” is king.

Yeah, Quickness isn’t all that useful for pvp. Downcleave is pretty much the only application where it’s useful but the other elites just do so much more.

I don’t have all that many memories of tomes but they were fun and flavorful.

well thats the problem when balance and class design is ment to work arround pve keyboard smashing.

I see this as problematic if they randomly wander around without heeding decorations, randomly bumping into them. They would have to include a route planner for anything of this sort.

Elite for Condi Ele

The way I see it, FGS is pretty much the only skill that could be adapted for condi builds, and maybe it should be.

Tornado isn’t really a power skill, it’s more an escape skill more than anything else. Unfortunately it really fails in its purpose as it has little defenses aside from the stability.

If FGS were to become the new condi elite, we could petition for a new power elite. Arcane kinda fits this perfectly, though I don’t know how that could work. The range of Arcane skill effects isn’t wide, and pretty much everything that could’ve been done has already been done. Something new would need to be introduced, such as teleporting or condi clears or whatever.

for pve, full zerker and scholar runes is the most efficient option if you’re not going to lazily just auto-attack everything to death and actually use the class as intended

scepter/torch (or focus, depending) and greatsword are the best options DPS wise pretty much. nothing else comes close in PvE if you play these 2 weapon sets to their maximum potential in an open world scenario, have fun

If one enjoys efficiency, this setup is fine. Personally I don’t always find this too enjoyable though.

What I personally run is a full Marauder set with Pack runes. I also play with Sword/Torch and Longbow.

It would be great if you could summon monsters to fight in the arena. That could even be made into a guild mission!

Imagine if you could summon something close in difficulty to Gorseval or Matthias. There could also be easier fights for casual groups and solos.

The Black Lion Trading Company is one of the best features of the game, even most game reviewers recognize it as one of the best market systems in all of the MMO field. I see 0 reason to throw that away. If you want more immersion, go play an RPG instead of an MMO.

PS. I realize this is 50% joke, 50% wishful thinking but honestly, those things are sometimes better left out of public places.

This is the original idea, LS on hit with leap or an aura that grants LS when struck.

The aura version of that is pretty much how I’d like this best atm.

At the very least Season 2 should be free for people who bought Guild Wars 2 before base game went f2p.

I think it might be a good idea for them to do that when LWS3 is fully out.

I had done only the last epi of LWS2 until I did HoT, and gotta say I really hated Braham based on just HoT story but as soon as I started doing LWS2 after buying it, I kinda grew to like him as he’s genuinely funny sometimes. Ofc, now I hate him again after the Bitterfrost episode. He goes from a funny guy to an emo to an even worse emo the further we go.

If you use the flip skill while a rev is using a UA on you, they will actually follow you to where you go. Same with mesmer portals, and other long range teleports.

And rather than inflicting Blind, it should inflict a short Weakness. Would be more on theme with a Dark Aura.

Overlap with poison field leap and blast. Most fields tends to have [{Blast(area effect X),Leap(single-target effect X)}{Projectile(single-target effect Y },Whirl(area effect Y)}].

Only and water really break this having 3 of the effects be X. Lightning fields ..well im glad it doesnt since nobody would want blasted aoe daze or leaping shocking aura.

I was talking about an aura, not the field. So no, it wouldn’t overlap. Getting an aura that inflicts Weakness is different to poison fields inflicting Weakness on Combo Finisher.

The idea is dark aura doesnt produce weakness but either life leach or blind because thats how fields are designed, they all have a fairly standard model. If you wanted an aura that produced weakness it would have to come from a poison field.

A poison aura? Let’s not get carried away.
