Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
Call us again when you are in legendary, or manage to convince Sindrenerr to play with this build for the rest of the season.
I might have the best idea regarding thieves/daredevil. As a daredevil myself, I have seen enough of complains about how ‘OP’ we are. So my suggestion is to change thieve/daredevil skills to dance moves. So we do not fight, we just focus on dancing and playing fashion wars. How about that?
But dance moves can hit other thieves if they are also dancing. Only thieves can hit thieves. That should be awesome in PvP.
A good combo would be Skill 5 -> Phase Traversal to target -> stab. This would especially be useful in PvP and decapping.
Wouldn’t that mean your foe is teleported behind you while you yourself stay where you PT’d to? Wass that intentional, and would stab prevent this?
And btw, quarterstaff is a real weapon used in several martial arts, so you thinking it as an illogical melee weapon is a bit illogical. Some people even claim it’s superior to sword as a dueling weapon because of it’s longer reach and how fast it is to use.
MMO lore doesn’t matter here, it doesn’t change the most basic things about reality, such as that getting hit by a 1,5 m pole of wood hurts, and breaks bones.
Quarterstaff might be superior to sword as a dueling weapon, but it’s terrible in formation. No army in history has ever used the quarterstaff. A quarterstaff infantry would beat themselves up.
Well no ofc not, but I’ve never seen an infantry formation in an MMO, so that’s kind of irrelevant considering the context. Formations usually preferred other kinds of polearms. Historically the most common option was the spear, although heavily armored infantry formations moved into using halberds in the late medieval period.
Marauder is not option, cele sadly also not since i have no guild . Trying to set DD cele build with mixed other available stats.
Thanks for answers all !
Well, first things first. Get a guild. It’s not too hard, just throw a few lines into LA map chat. Casual guilds don’t really care if you are f2p or not. Celestial DD is pretty much your best choice for roaming if you don’t have HoT.
Not to mention that Reaper Shroud scythe is not a physical scythe but instead a shadowy manifestation of a scythe. It is incorporeal to atleast some degree.
The only thing I have a major issue with is the name. I cringe every time somebody comes up with an idea that reminds me of WoW. And I strongly associate warlocks with WoW. Fortunately the ESpec itself doesn’t remind me of it. So while I think another name would serve better, it’s your idea and you are in charge of it!
I actually based this E spec on the DnD Warlock, especially the Pacts and making deals with evil forces in exchange for power. I didn’t even know WoW had beat me to it, but I guess that’s not a big surprise after all, heh.
When I think DnD, Warlock doesn’t usually come to mind, but that’s just because most of my experiences with it are from 3rd ed, and warlocks weren’t a very common class back then. I think it might just have been that the Warcraft universe influenced DnD in this regard.

My partner and me still hv to finish the ap.. just want to check when will the ap for this going to be locked?
they said achievements will stay. and capricorn achievements will return too. lame “everyone should be winners” policy tho, maybe they can just give everyone all the achievements already unlocked and done and that’s it.
about main topic – tyvm.
The capricorn achievements were not handled very well initially. Most ppl didn’t even know there was an expiration date. And capri was dropped in the game on a time when you wanted to do ranked instead of those achis. The entire situation was poorly handled.
The same mistake was not repeated with Coliseum however, and when these achis go away, I hope it will be permanent.
l love facing Thieves on my necro. I’ve lost to only one or two this season 1v1. But in middle of gold not many people can interrupt well it seems.
Yeah because the ones that would win don’t engage you 1v1. Only bad thieves really do that, since 1v1 is the last place you want to be as a thief. Aside from a teamfight.
Exactly thief players learnt their position in sPvP matches they wont have the biggest impact by 1vs1-ing. Why cant necros do the same? They are insanely good usually in mid fights or in 2vs2 situations where they have ele or druid to support them. The game was never balanced around 1vs1 and never will be and i dont know why so many triggered necros are trying to achieve that.
As a former PvP necro main I have to agree. Although necro isn’t the worst 1v1 class, there are some very good match-ups for necro, such as warriors or mesmers. But I choose to focus on the positive!
Mesmer doesn’t need nerfing, Warrior doesn’t need nerfing.
If these characters were unequivocally carrying games, I’d say they need nerfs but they don’t so…. they don’t
I have to agree since I suck on both these classes, and I can reliably beat both with any other class I play.
Necros counters wariors?
This is why devs should ever listen to players.
Its amazing u think that necros counter warriors.
And some of u ask me why i rage so much…….
Necros and warriors actually counter each other. It’s a 50/50 duel depending on the builds played. A necro focused on corruptions has a decent chance to win against warrior, but other types usually fail to do so.

Warrior, thief and mesmer are too good currently.
All the other classes are fine.
So lets come up with some ideas how to nerf them in a fair way.
I will edit this with the best ideas in this thread and then we can contribute to the development of the game.
Nah, they just need to Nerf Reaper, it has far too much mobility for its concept and ability to range and AoE, as well as allowing for it to be Tanky.
My proposed changes are remove the Teleport from Flesh Wurm, for one there is zero reason that killing a Wurm Minion Teleports a Reaper, and two they need to reduce the distance of Reaper shroud 2 Death’s Charge, it should be reduced to a 200 unit charge.
I hope you are being sarcastic.
Somebody said in a different thread that they should remove passive damage ticks from confusion and apply more damage on the active part, and AFA I can see that could work IMO. That would effectively be a nerf for both condi warrior and mesmer, which are currently among the best of SoloQ builds.
If you click on the meta achievement, it tells you exactly what you need in order to complete it, so this is mostly on you not paying attention.
Oh God, so I was blind all along. I’m even more kittened now.
Seriously though, why put them all together
It’s been established as a norm that not all achievements in a given tab progress the meta achievement, such as not all A Crack in the Ice achis progress the meta there either. Oh well, atleast now you know to look for this in the future.
If you didn’t complete Year of the Ascention I you can’t do Year of the Ascention II achievements and so on with III and IV.
That’s not really helpful as he’s alrdy on the 3rd/4th tab. Can’t remember which one was Champion.
That’s because it does so indirectly. The profession achievements count toward The League Elite achievement which YOU DO NEED for Path of the Ascension.
If you click on the meta achievement, it tells you exactly what you need in order to complete it, so this is mostly on you not paying attention.
Is this a bug? Or does “rated arena” means both unrank and rank? Lol
Rated means both ranked and unranked. Unrated matches are the ones in hotjoin.
How many times have you seriously seen ANet straight up revert their decisions? I can’t think of any. Asking for such is pointless.
What other ways can you see ANet improve revenants playstyle?
What I would want to see is them removing the rooting effect from shield 5, as well as the trait since it sometimes actively works against you.
I would like to see UA proc confusion on activation, not on hit.
I would like staff 4 to be instantly cast and staff 2 made into single skill.
The activation time on Chaotic Release should be lowered, since it has the biggest tell in the game. Quite literally.
I would like Ferocious Strikes and Vicious Lacerations to be merged. Fill the new spot with something that promotes using Assassin Stance skills/one of the skills. Stability comes to mind since revs only stability access is currently in Retribution.
Well of Death (Elite): Instantly kill anything that steps in the well. 5 second duration. Please make it happen.
It could work if it also revived them at the end of the well.. The ultimate CC.
On a more serious note, would it not be better if the Signet’s active just went ahead and put you in shroud as soon as you used it?
I agree. With an addition. For 5 seconds when you enter shroud in this way, you regain life force equal to the damage you take.
This second part is more about throwing ideas rather than suggesting them.
Was also thinking that it could make you immune to movement- and attack speed effects, such as Quickness, Superspeed, Swiftness, Alacrity, Cripple, Chill, Immobilize or Slow, while reducing your movement and attack speed by 20% for the duration of the signet buff/debuff/effect.
Since it would effectively become an invuln, it needs a downside as all invulns have them. Elixir S prevents you from attacking or using skills, Renewed Focus is channeled, Obsidian Flesh is short, Defy Pain or Stone Signet don’t prevent condis or CC. Necromancer already being a slow class, an additional movement speed reduction during the invuln would be fitting IMO.
I would be so happy if the world turned on it’s head, and people would stop asking for unneeded nerfs.
Once heard Sind say: “Don’t AA spam a thief, you’re basically giving them free PI procs.”
I think any reflect does this. I’m not sure if it’s intended but it is definitely bad design.
So if both have a reflect up they should bounce between 2 players until 1 stops reflecting?
-Hammer is ranged, Staff is Melee… I’m sure i missed something in the lore but to me this is so absurdly unlogical that i have trouble enjoying playing with either. This class needs a Greatsword, a “normal” Hammer or at least something cool to whack with, staves are brittle fragile canes not made for smashing heads.
It might’ve been dropped in the game a bit out of the blue, and it might feel slightly weird in GW2, but this kind of weapon mechanics are familiar for people that have had any experiences with D&D through games like Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights as I have. Magically returning thrown hammers and quarterstaves are quite easy to come by there.
And btw, quarterstaff is a real weapon used in several martial arts, so you thinking it as an illogical melee weapon is a bit illogical. Some people even claim it’s superior to sword as a dueling weapon because of it’s longer reach and how fast it is to use.

I would say the optimal damage/defense ratio is here:
The utilities are just what I usually use, there are other options.
It’s kinda pointless to ask for advice if you then dismiss all of it.
I saw someone else mention this and I think it’s a great idea, can we make a petition for it?
Or better yet, maybe a group of people would be willing to try it out and show the devs how much better it is?
Remove elite spec, YAY or NAY.
Yeah, that would be great… No way to kill warriors. A great idea, Steve!
Obviously NAY.
Although I do think it would be great if there were (a) separate server(s) for “Vanilla” GW2. It would be completely shut off from the other servers, and basically in pre-HoT state, and with old LA. Some things like wardrobe should carry over but separate characters definitely.
Obviously ANet is not going to do this themselves, but they might give outside sources “permission” to host private servers which could be accessed in-game. They hoard their intellectual property too zealously, I think.
I have a guildmate whose main is a sylvari elementalist. We call him the Purple Plant. That should give you an idea about what his color theme is..
Can’t help you, I usually get destroyed when I try using that ladle.
Wanted to give you my option for a power build, which I feel is a bit more soloQ friendly. I firmly believe Staff is useless for a power build. That’s just my opinion, and everyone should form their own opinions on that.
Things to note:
-swap Spectral Armor for Plague Signet vs. condi heavy teams
-never swap out Foot in the Grave, Chilling Victory or Blighter’s Boon
-Ghastly Claws will provide 30%ish or more LF when it hits a Chilled foe(CV and BB, that’s why you don’t swap them out)
-use Well of Corruption directly on the point when assaulting, it will either destroy foes on point or more likely force them off the point. This works while defending too but be more mindful with the placement.
-when in Legacy, swap the Well to NCSY/Plague Signet/Spectral Walk. It doesn’t provide as much pressure bc of bigger points in the map so you will benefit more from having other skills.
-Speed of Shadows and Foot in the Grave provide you with a stunbreak on a 7s cd provided you have LF to go shroud. SoS also makes it harder for enemies to kite you while in shroud.
-relies on Might for damage so you usually need to outplay other necromancers (corruption/boon removal)
-watch out for thieves, they will steal your Stab and Might and turn them against you.
General necro and play tips:
-Don’t play too aggressively at the beginning of a match, you need to generate LF. You will usually be targeted by the enemy team 1st, so hang back slightly. It will give your teammates time to compensate and react.
-You are slow, so don’t be the first person to push far. Exceptions do occur but that’s the general idea.
-Don’t use Locust Swarm at the start if someone else is providing Swiftness. Engis, Eles, Revs and possibly Druids will usually do this if they are worth anything. However, when lacking all these, use it.
Yes please. This would be a natural next step to take. +1’d.
Its the lowest of the low skill builds
You just place freakin traps and block all attacks until the traps recharged.
I wont Play pvp anymore until this kittened build is fixed.
You loss really. Don’t stand in traps.

@OP. Sounds like you will thoroughly enjoy Guild Halls. Just make sure you get Decoration rights, and you’ll be set for the remaining lifespan of the game. The possibilities are endless with new GH decorations coming almost every month. It’s the best feature of the expansion for a quite a lot of people. Sort of player housing in it’s own way.
you cant kill support ele 1v1 with anything, dont fight them on a captured node ever on such conditions
You can force decap or take down any ele pretty fast, best for that is condi warrior. Its counter to eles is huge cc and condi bombing.
Coincidentally that also works on druids. Unfortunately I suck at playing warrior.
There are a few key skills on eles you need to interrupt such as water OL, or “Wash the Pain Away!”. Otherwise, they’ll just keep healing away all of your damage.
so a well timed spike trap or a daze would work? ill have to watch one and just see how their rotation goes. i must of waited a few sec at the wrong time and just helped her
They might but keep in mind that they will try to cover that healing with Stability, Arcane Shield or LoS so a single CC will probably get you nowhere. Dropping good eles is mainly a job for a thief, as they can headshot-spam and peel defenses.

I already reported an abusable 100% crit rate, does this needs to be put here too?
Yeah, you should post it here too. The more you pester ANet about stuff, the more likely they are to do something about it. (we’re talking about ridiculous levels of pestering here though…) No need for pics or anything, just tell us what it is.
Yannir, point was that it shouldn’t be possible to climb to ranking #1-50 with only first 10 placement matches with alt/new accounts.
That is true. I might’ve been slightly off-topic earlier
Jeffies here we wanted to test out what smurfing on alt accounts would do to the leaderboard and it turned out duoqing during you placement matches was all it took to take the #1 and #2 spots. It’s worth noting that we took down plenty of top 10 proleague players during the placement matches that gave us way 2 much rating.
MAY THE BATTLE OF THE QUE DODGING ALT ACCOUNTS BEGIN!
FYI, the pros also duoQ. First thing ROM or Helseth do when coming online, is look for a duo-partner. They may do a few solo games waiting for them to be available but they mainly duo, AFAIK.
When 1vs1 fighting druids, it seems embarrasingly common that my target switches to the druids pet. Whether my key binds are screwy, whether I am key fumbling in the midst of battle, or whether I am not using a specific setting… not sure. But I need to fix this issue.
Looking for tips on settings/keybinds/… so when 1vs1 druid, I can stay locked on the druid.
That’s not a you issue, it’s the druids pet taunting you. Even if the taunt doesn’t stick, it will still change your target to the pet.
So this is the NA version of a certain sexiest male GW2 streamer EU? How cute.
What’s wrong with this idea? Oh the RNG. This would insanely annoying and fun to play at the same time.
- 1. Daunting Presence might be a bit strong, considering the removal of agency that comes with Taunt. Perhaps the stance should stack Weakness rather than Taunt on enemies attacking the Auspice while active, instead?
I think Taunt would be better but it shouldn’t proc on a single player more than once. Adjusting the numbers to reflect that would be best IMO.
- 2. The counter to Martyr’s Vow was, in my head, Unblockable Attacks aimed at the Auspice himself, as they only Pulse Aegis and not Invulnerability. I think changing it to only give a Damage Immunity (A la Warrior’s Endure Pain) to allies behind you will help balance it, as opposed to straight-up invulnerability.
That sounds much better. Would maybe even warrant a pulsing Stability for the Stances duration.
- 3. Heart of Fire is a construct of sorts created with the Weapon Skill Living Fire. The Traited version is pretty much exactly the same and I agree that it’s very powerful, which is why I decided to place it at a 50s Cooldown. Perhaps swapping places between it and Unbreakable Shield might be prudent. As for the Heart itself, I shall add to the OP that it can be destroyed by enemies to prevent the final Heal, but like a Pet it has a high Resistance to AoE damage so Focus Fire will be necessary.
Push the cooldown to 60s in addition to the changes and we should be golden. That way RF with 100% Alacrity uptime and trait won’t make it fire every single time you use RF off-cd.
- 4. The idea for Quickness on First in, Last out is that as a Bunker Guardian, your first reaction when an ally goes down is obviously to get them back up on their Feet. Movement Speed helps make sure you’re the first into the fray, Quickness on downed ally helps make sure you’re the last one to leave alive. I thought it was clever, at least.
Ahhh, I see what you did there! That does make sense. Carry on!
For some reason I’m seeing more engis than any other class.
Thief is always a secondary class unless you are Sindrenerr. Everybody else should have another class/character ready to go, possibly 2. Or 5 as I do.
So what’s the difference between Living Fire and Heart of Fire?
Also, does it cleanse or pull conditions? It says both right now.
Am I understanding correctly that the OH Mace abilities don’t do damage?
Turn the Tides – Does the effect apply as you remove 3 conditions at once, or after removing 3 conditions?
- Daunting presence is a bit too strong, the taunt should be applied only once per enemy.
- Martyr’s Vow is completely OP in an organized team, I’d suggest just making it give 2-3 boons. You can increase duration to compensate. Also, how wide is the arc?
- Burning Heart is a bit too strong for an adept trait, or maybe altogether. Consider how well it will synergizes with Renewed Focus and Monk’s Focus. That’s about 6k healing right there without healing power.
- First In, Last Out. Quickness doesn’t really work here. It feels like you dice-rolled which boon to throw here.
As a concept I love this, and I think you have created something beautiful here. However, there are always a few kinks to work out.
(edited by Yannir.4132)
Hi there, here’s a thought for Ele, how about a nerf? How about the profession gets booted out of the meta for a change? Also, it’s the highest DPS profession in game and you are asking for more? Give… me… a… break!
In PvE maybe… Nobody in this thread cares about that. These changes could be made for PvP only now as ANet has proved they are willing and capable of making such changes.
Opening up additional playstyles for ele should be a priority. I used to love D/D ele some years back but it’s not very viable right now. It wouldn’t take much as I’m already having some mediocre success with a sage D/D but it completely lacks offensive pressure if I take defensive utilities, and completely lacks sustain when I take any offensive utilities.
Fire traits also need major buffs. One with Fire should be merged with Pyromancer’s Puissance in some way and replaced with a trait that has defensive synergy. Blinding Ashes needs a cd reduction and a blind duration reduction to make it more reliable but equally potent.
suffish makes a good point. The thing is, CA is strong in some situations, but it’s also weak in others. For example if I’m 1v1’ing on home point, going CA usually means giving up the decap, and so if I’m forced to use it, I know I’m not doing too hot.
I’ve been playing around PvP with a minion condi bruiser build with slight supportive aspects.
If you just look at the skills, it feels lackluster, but it’s more the trait synergy with the amulet and “Rise!” that makes it shine.
Pros:
-You are pretty much always sitting on 1300-1460 toughness via Corrupter’s Fervor and Flesh of the Master + 180 more toughness while in shroud. Combine that with 28k hp.
-“Rise!” further reduces your incoming damage by 33%.
-Minions clear condis for you passively, usually 4-8 condis every 10 seconds. Yet you still have 2 condi transfers and Consume Conditions as well to deal with condis.
-Unholy Martyr feeds your shroud every 3 seconds, bypassing the lack of Soul Reaping.
-You gain a fair amount of passive sustain from life stealing in Blood Magic as well as Regen from Mark of Evasion
- 25% increased movement speed with 1 of your weapon sets. No longer the slow reaper!
-The condition pressure is still great considering how much sustain you have.
Cons:
-Vulnerable to CC chains (Spectral armor can deal with single hits), as shroud isn’t always an option.
-Minions being minions, they don’t always behave. Even if they teleport with you down ledges.
-Only a single boon corruption skill, so you are missing one of the traditional strengths of necromancer.
Farren: Invoking him removes all skills and you just sit down and cry as you come to understand how utterly useless you are. It’s the perfect representation of revenants
It also removes all armor except for a loincloth.
Chak, Mordrem Guard, Mushroom, and Saurian are all HoT zone and not everyone has HoT. Plant slayer was in place before Mordrem existed and so they won’t count towards that particular slayer achievement.
They could just be hidden until you actually kill one of the creatures.
@Randulf No it’s not surprising but it’s ticks me off a bit nonetheless. @Khisanth Yeah, any sylvari usually count towards Nightmare Court Slayer.
