You need to time you CC and sic’em very well, but if you do, you won’t have any problem dealing with thieves even if they open on you.

If you see them coming, it should be the easiest job ever.

I play 6/6/0/2 too, but you got wrong traits and useless skills. Vs good enemies, you won’t survive at all.

Elite Skill: Spirit Merge. (Spirit form) You and your pet merge and become 1 (spirit) for the duration, giving to the player different skills depending on pet species.

Cat: Single target burst dps (melee)
Dogs: Decent damage with heavy CC (melee)
Drakes: Increased toughness and heavy AoE (melee with some skills up to 600 I guess)
Spids: Increased health and heavy CC (ranged)
Bears: Heavily increased toughness, health, healing power, healing and protection skills (melee)
Birds: Sustained single target dps, +50% speed run.

Duration 30s cd 2m.

In PvP, power ranger can be extremelly powerful, but it requires a lot more skill than other classes power builds, or you are going to be a lootbag 24/7.

The most importan thing is positioning and terrain knowledge. If you just stand at random spots pewpewing, you are going to get picked off and get rekt. Skills also play a vital role. How many rangers I’ve seen with Signet of hunt… or even QZ…

About WvW, you can play pretty much all builds and be effective. I prefer pure power since I roam all time, and at least 90% of the people I find, are running away straight away, or leg it after the first 2 seconds when they are already below half health.

Create separate rankings for solo and 5/5 teams.
Disable queuing with incomplete party – allow only solo or 5/5 for ranked arena.

Let people play between completely random players or 5/5 teams vs 5/5 teams.

There is no competition for incomplete teams, they do not really compete with others.

By changing this, there will be no more crying about some random PvE that joined incomplete team and because of him that team lost the game.

Same as there will be no problem that party of 3 PvE players are queuing ranked arena just to get reward points and screwing up a challenge of dedicated solo PvPers.

Incomplete teams could always join unranked arena.

The answer from the devs was that they didn’t really care, they wanted to just make it easier for teams to find a match to play.

Meta situations speaking: A warrior is not needed for it’s dps in the group. He’s needed for banners. Ranger is needed for both buffs and dps. Ranger burst in the first 6-10 seconds of the fight is probably the biggest burst in game now, and that without going off-meta build to boost personal dps.

Warriors are just more desirable in pugs because
1: They can be decent stackable class
2: A nub warrior can be decent/great. A nub ranger will be waste of spot.

Been playing this game for some time, running dungeons daily. Number of meta rangers joined my party: 3.

1k hours, and only 3 rangers I came across knew how to play their class.

Yeah indeed I found some builds. I’m using 6/6/2 now with S/D LH when I’m not using staff.

We have engis and thieves looking like this. Also the world ranger has different meanings between fantasy worlds.

Also, if they were going to give all classes new weaps (not going to happen but anyways), rangers would most likely get a staff for druidic support build.

I looked for such a build, but everything was outdated.

Is LH viable for PvE (dungs/fracts) ?

I’ve seen some videos with ele’s staying in water to get bonuses of extra damage and hiting 15k a hit with LH?

Anyone can link an updated LH build?

pretty childish to post that. i would have atleast expected an update on what is going on and what are the delays for when it will be fixed and why it is bugged. Not a stupid image. It’s funny to see how Anet don’t really care about PvP. When there is a bug in PvE it takes less than 20 mins before you patch something and update everything. Or have you bothered asking them if they are in fact a 5 man team, because from my experience of queuing by myself or with one other friend consisted of Solo queuers, Duo’s and the occasional trio queuers. No it’s not wrong, it is exactly how it is. It is a move from their part aimed to make it easier for teams to find matches to play, but it is a huge mistake, since you will lose a huge amount of soloers.

There are casual players, there are the “not hardcore yet experienced players”, and there are hardcore players that play pretty much 24/7 and are in elite guilds (PvP mode in this case)

If you merge soloq with teamq, most of the matches will be filled with hardcore people, that have perfect class match-up, are using Teamspeak, and have excellent team communication, going up against random pugs, that might be experienced, but can’t match an organised pre-made group.

It will eventually happen what happened in SWTOR and many other games that had a system like that. Solo players will join less and less because none likes non-competition faceroll, queque times will increase since it’s less and less people playing, and even elite guilds will decrease over time since the population will have been dropped dramatically.

It is somewhat of logic to forsee this, even if it has been the issue in so many recent-day MMO’s…

Keep the system as it is now, design wise etc, but seperate it to solo ranked Q and team ranked Q.

You are talking to me like I’m some sort of scrub that does not know how to play.

No I don’t wanna be forced to find 4 more people, and even if I did, they would not be online 24/7. When I wanna do a couple of matches to have some fun, I’m expecting to at least have a chance. Having guilds make teams while being on TS, and having the best class match-up possible, while you are in a pug with 4 other random dudes = not fun. It should not be fun for the organised group as well, since it has no point or competition.

If you are defending this system, you either never played an MMO with this issue before, or you did and you were one of those scrubs that wanted easymode against soloer’s, but also never quequed up with a full team, because if things would get serious vs a real pvp guild, they’d get wrecked.

Been there, done that. More than once. I know what it will create, and I know how the game’s pvp will end up in only a couple of months if this goes on. The devs should know too…

That guy also incorrectly assumed that Ravens have the best f2, but hawks and eagles do more damage with their f2 on a 6s cooldown. So the advantage for birds would be even greater over cats.

If you are chosing pets for their damage in PvP, you’re doing it so wrong…

PvE: cats win
PvP: Dogs/spids win (depending on power/condi builds).

Maybe a condi build should have an eagle as secondary pet for the special ability since it stacks off ranger condi damage, and that’s it for birds.

I agree with some parts, with others not so much.

First of all, sword does not need a buff. It would break PvE, but even without minding PvE, it would still be too powerfull for PvP.

Warhorn needs a revamp, that’s no-brainer. Hunter’s call (4) is just useless/time-bomb (retaliation and have fun^^), and #5 is far too weak for it’s cd.

GS does not have a place in tPvP in my opinion. It is a pure power two handed weapon, that relies on 1 single skill. A skill that is one of the easiest skills in the game to evade. Even if that hits, it does what? Highest I’ve had it crit is 7.4k on a zerker mesmer, while SotW was on. (And that was on 6/6 build on my part). After that, the ranger is useless untill he re-changes weapon or maul get’s off cd. Again, Maul should not land on experienced players.

I also agree about axe #5. It should be usable while moving.

For dungeon stacking I prefer piercing arrows over spotter but ppl rage on that 150 prec. Change jaguar to red moa for more fury. And I run fire trap instead of QZ for might stacking. LB + s/wh, sigil of battle on WH so it’s 3 from sigil, 3 from blast + 1 from WH #5 skill, add jungle stalker and u got easy 12 stacks of might.

Yeah.. no. People are right to rage on you for not having spotter. It is like a warrior running with no banners just for more personal dps. Piercing arrows is a waste of slot anyways, since you should use LB only for 2 skills on single target and 1 on multi targets.

Also might and furry should not be a ranger’s issue. You have eles/warrs for that. Red moa while having a very good special skill, it lacks in dps big time. best way is to have jaguar in the beginning of the fight for the initial Stalk – RaO-SotW-QZ burst (it hits like a truck with these, and mid fight after all your personal buffs are gone, swap to jungle stalker for boosting the group’s might.

Do not use WH for fight, but keep 1 on you for blasting.

I wanted to ask, what’s up with 1v1 (king of hill) servers and the actual join X team to play?

I was there for ages, never succeeded to actual play. Tried clicking join X team very fast, spammed the button when the player was downed, nothing. Also there were only the same 4-5 people playing over and over again, with all the spectators remain just spectators…

This seems like macro usage where you click something a gazillion times, just to enter a match -.-

Even if you don’t want to factor in a second backstab, it still wins.

No sword auto on ranger or you lose damage. You start with barrage, rapid fire after, and instant path of scars. Jaguar does not have a “special ability”, its just an instant stealth for 6 secs where it has +25% crit.

PvE: overused – cats. Maybe eagle while soloing cause it looks cool sometimes.
Underused: Bears. Good for nothing, noob sign.

PvP/WvW: overused: Dogs. Maybe spiders occasionally.
