Try to remove all the crap like auto target and auto attack (ctrl + right mouse) and it will not lock you, sword is a very interesting weapon, with some practice it can be really enjoyable.

It’s broken because it offers few advantages at the expense of many disadvantages.
I know that when I started playing, I saw all the QQ about the Ranger best and most “hated” weapon. I could start QQ’ing as well straight away. I didn’t. Instead I listened to all the veteran ranger players that said with practice you can learn to melee every boss at the game with ranger sword.
Well guess what? I can now do it as well. After a few wipes in every boss, I know how they work, therefore I can pre-act even in those bosses where millisecs have a difference like in Archdiviner etc…
So no, the sword is not broken, it’s just different, and it’s what makes the game with a ranger more fun.

It’s a fact that necro’s dps is the lowest in game. Necros also do not have any unique buffs they can bring to the group. Sadly enough GW2 dungeons can be played in such a way that most dungeon mechanics do not come to play. When stacking together in one tiny spot and burst dps’ing everything is viable, there are going to be classes left out.
I don’t think the devs meant for this to happen when they designed the dungeons, but none wants to spend 2 hours killing trash mobs before reaching a boss.
So yes, sadly enough, in the current “meta” dungeon runs, a necromancer keeps the group behind.
Prove it. Because I think you assuming, without knowing. I have participated in DPS test in the past. Posted videos on the matter. My experience with DPS says other wise.

If you give ranged weapons same damage with melee weapons with no penalties, you end up in situations where everyone is staying in ranged pewpewing from safety. Look how terrible games like RIFT are. In a raid vs raid encounter, eveyone is charging, to stop at 30m range from eachother and start pewpewing.
Now for PvE situations, we’ll never see ranged, because the current meta way to do dungs is stack in 1 spot and melee burst down everything, sadly. If players played dungeons the way they were designed to be played in the first place, we could see ranged classes, and other builds. But as I said before, none wants to spend 2 hours for a single dungeon. Bad design.
The damage increase is 40% now on a 40 sec cooldown, i reduced both the damage and the cooldown to have the same damage increase over time.
But on the other side i dont see any movement speed nerf, since your pet has 99% chance in combat of having a movement speed condition, and by ignoring that, it can keep presure instead of just running crippled in circles for 10 seconds until the skill wears off.Yeah and you are rigth, i only play ranger, i almost want to delete my other character sinche ranger is the only class i fell confortable playing.
Have you seen the pet’s run speed when traited agility training, using SotH, swiftness and Sic’em? You think movement conditions affect it?
Other than that, an induction to the skill is not needed, and the revealed duration is probably the only reason rangers using the skill in PvP/ WvW.
You just want to nerf it to the point of useless, because ? It already has no place in PvE, and your suggestion would make it useless in PvP as well. GG
I would like to give an opinion about how sic em shpuld be:
Instead of being a 1500 range instant reveal, it should be more powerful, but less unavoidable by making it like this:
Cooldown: 20 seconds
Cast time: .75 seconds (same as using necromancer´s staff #1 skill)
No longer requires target and doesnt end by any means other than running out of time
Duration: 10 seconds
Type: Shout
Description: Order your pet to focus on targets , making in ignore movement reducing conditions and deal more damage. Targets hit by your pet reveal targets for the duration of the skill.
Ignores: Cripple,Chill and imobilize
Damage increase: 20%
Revealed: 3 seconds (doesnt stack, it only refreshes if you are hit multiple times bofore the revealed expires).
This both makes the skill less frustrating for thieves that can avoid the pet and makes this skill more usefull against non thiefes because it makes your pet much harder to avoid because of the movmement speed conditions ignoring, makes it synergize better with natures voice becauce of the lower cooldown etc etc.
So you just want to add an induction, nerf the damage by 20%, nerf the movement speed considerably, and nerf the reveal duration by 3 seconds.

I agree; right now Sic ‘Em is almost entirely unused outside of PvE. It doesn’t do enough for the cool down. If someone takes it, it’s usually for the BM effects and nothing to do with the anti-trolling stealth mechanics.
Tbh if the cd was 30 seconds, it could replace quick. zep. in PvE, in most cases. meaning you could use it twice in 60 secs window, one coupled with SotW, and one on its own.

It’s amazing to see that thieves actually believe that they should be able to survive in 1 V many situation, and still cry about it when ONLY 2 skills in the whole game on a considerable cooldown counter their “legit” stealth mechanic.
You are not supposed to survive when outnumbered. In 1v1 situation, if you can’t survive for 6 seconds without stealth, you need to change your build and learn how to actually play the game.
So yes Sic ‘em and Analyze is far from OP. In fact I’d lower sic’em cooldown to 35-30 seconds.
Warriors can use both, and they work completely differently. There isn’t any reason a rangers rifle couldn’t have a unique set of abilities.
We already have two short range weapons (shortbow and axe) that work quite differently.
Yeah so why waste class potentials on making a third one. (Which would also be against the lore since rifle has nothing to do with nature)
The most fitting weapon for rangers if Anet ever introduces new weapons to classes, is a staff. It could work as a support weapon using spirits powers/nature magic.
Call them Druids then. Or hunters, which they basically are.
And I don’t see Aragorn summoning spirits or using a pet either, so your example is totally invalid.
Each fantasy world has its own lore. In Middle earth 3rd age, rangers were dunedain protectors that were wandering the wild looking to protect those in need. He did not have a rifle either… Not sure what this has to do with GW2

Best group for speedclears in my opinion is Guard,Warr,Ele,Thief,Ranger.
Class importance order in normal (pug) dungs is:
Guardian
Thief (for stealth skipping)
Elementalist
Warior
Mesmer
Ranger
Engineer
Necro (Should not even be here as there’s no point taking a necro in PvE) (Thanks Anet…)

Guard’s only real use is to be used with Nature’s Voice, but even at that it’s kind of bad given the cast time and how dreadful the shout is base.
Protect Me probably should also be changed given the changes to Signets. Having both SoS and PM up could be a bit over the top and changing PM makes far more sense.
Protect Me: The Ranger, his pet, and up to 4 other targets receive protection for 4 seconds. 25 second cooldown. Instant Cast.
Guard changed to Intimidate: The Ranger, his pet, and up to 4 other targets receive Fury and Might. 25 second cooldown. Instant Cast.
Protect me has no reason to change. It is not useless, it can be used in pvp for more inv. time.
Also your suggestion to Guard would not make it worth slotting anyways. Plus we have that on warhorn skill.
Those two shouts are literally useless and no ranger will take them over other utilities for no reason. They may had their uses in the past (I doubt that about S&R but anyways), but at the moment they need rework.
Search and Rescue: Pet becomes invulnerable to ANY damage for the whole duration of the rez. Revives downed ally with double the speed of a player, or revives a dead ally with the normal downed speed. Cooldown reduced to 60secs. Range 1.2k
If I’m gonna waste a slot for a utility it should be worth it.
Guard: Probably renamed to Agression or something. Pet’s damaging abilities affect 5 targets. Cooldown remains the same as now (10 sec buff duration, 15s cooldown)
The skill will be actually usefull for trash fights.
Honestly, im just tired of doing some hotjoins for fun, and running into 2-4 rangers on the same team all using LB #2 on me. One ability shouldn’t have such range, such dmg, and such a short cd.
I was all for buffing ranger… but not enabling everyone to hit LB #2 to win.
Translation: I can’t take it when 2 to 4 people on full glass gear/traits, are focusing on me using their biggest burst ability, when I’m grabbing my coffee and can’t evade it. Nerf it please!

Yes, I love the sword auto chain. It gives the class a unique feeling and playstyle, and you actually have to learn how to use it. You can’t just spam 1 and you’re done. It’s probably the best thing of the class.
If you are one of those rangers then you should try getting out of your comfort zone and see what it is like.
Lol no! Staying at 1.5k range is meta. If things go bad I still have knockback and double bear with protect me and signet of stone. (and signet of hunt to move faster since moving faster = pro)

Keep in mind when i say roaming server, i don’t mean a dead one, just a server that people roam much more than they zerg, i was thinking bronze league but maybe silver league is good too i am not sure anymore , also i want a server where zerg fights are max 15 people not 40 people… so please, leave suggestion rather than saying " you can still roam in gold league servers"
Aurora Glade has roamers and it’s well populated. Sure you wil find big zeergs in peak times (when you can avoid them and roam). Early in morning or late at night the main commander group wil not have more than 15 people usually.
I would suggest silver league server. I havn’t played bronze so can’t comment, but people saying that there are not many people for proper action. “Gold” league should be renamed to Skritt league, so as a non zergling I would not touch it.

I support a Points per kill system, the PPT race we have now is just to rewarding for servers with best coverage and doesn’t really say anything about fights. PvE in a PvP enviroment is just laughable imo. There’s always EOTM for that type of roleplay!

Taking them away will only create more zergs as no one likes to sit in a tower/keep to await a possible attack. I do it myself many times but also like to leave the structure to grab a camp/upgrade it, run supplies to build sieges speed up dollies. All stuff i cant do without white swords as an attack can occur at any given time.
None said anything about sitting in 1 spot.If small groups/soloers are roaming on the map, they should spot enemy zerglings. Just shout and wait for backup.

I’m in silver and while we certainly do have scouts sitting on our stuff when we do primetime raids we generally don’t at other times. There’s not enough organized groups at other times and the rewards are nonexistant.
This change in isolation is bad for silver; it will not encourage more people to sit around in towers for no rewards. It will encourage them to join a zerg and ktrain with less resistance since swords no longer pop. More flipping = more rewards, but less tactical play.
If the change is combined with something like sentry turrets included in upgrades or reward changes to benefit scouting then it might be ok.
Who plays WvW for the rewards? If you wanna join a karma train you got for EotM. Most people i kow that are roaming, they do it for fun because they hate big blobs and zerging in general.
