I think that Zerkers have succumbed to the all or nothing approach because they cant be bothered to play the game, they are in it for the Gold to get the most valuable stuff NOW. It is not skill to pile up damage so fast that an enemy has no chance. That is not what the game is about.
You’re telling me that all this time I haven’t been playing the game? If you don’t call speed running playing, then what do you call TP flipping?
Does MF effect bags?
I don’t think so. It doesn’t affect chests either.
I never targeted anyone of lying, especially not you. I’m speaking in general, and you can’t deny that PuGs lie; happens all the time. If I get down because someone didn’t interrupt or feedback at the right time, it’s on them. This is team effort and everyone has to do their job. You might not like or see it this way, but everyone is responsible for the duties of the characters they’re playing. So yes, I would blame a mesmer who didn’t feedback at lupi phase 2 when my party is stacked at melee.
(edited by Yenn.9185)
When I get down it’s usually because reflects not up, players not stacked, or not enough DPS that fights takes too long. There isn’t really a lot of one-shot kill mechanics in dungeons, and they are almost always easy to tell.
What I find more of a problem in PuGs is, players lie. They do it all the time to join a party, perhaps wanted to be carried. It could be hiding the fact that they are not “experienced” or not “zerkers”.
I don’t know if you’re new around here, but this has been said many times by the devs. Uncapping aoe limit even just to 10 would result in a significant performance issues.
Now, they did some optimization with the server but as it stands right now, that is why it cannot be done.
Flip a coin 1 million times, get head 1 million times.
0.5^1million = very unlikely. I’m not gonna put my argument of “it can happen” into that miniscule chance. It’s more practical to think the opposite.
I’m fine with that, as long as you don’t end up calling shenanigans on the stated chance if it happens (like several in this thread seem to imply).
I’m not dismissing the chance but I’m dismissing the point of it all. There is no reason to think, in practical terms, that it can still happen if the chance borders improbability. How high or low the chance, or big the sample must be for you to think something is going on?

I still think it’s too profitable for the ones that know how to work the system. I consider myself knowledgeable in dungeons, and it won’t earn me nearly as much. For WvW players that really know their stuff, their income is like a cheap change for TP flippers.
The best way to make money = best way to lose money= Trading Post !!!
High risk high reward. One of my friends made around 6k gold from TP but he lost 3k in like 3 days trying to get more out of it.
It kinda irks me that some players earn more money by, ummm, not playing. Y’know standing in LA and all.
Just a little bit of effort and time?
Make Teq instanced, and bump the rewards. It could be downscaled to say, 30-40man instance. The fight is just too unorganized for my taste.
Seriously is this even a complain? Even this?
Dungeon is my life. Pls Hurry up.
I like the staff but I don’t have a toon/build that uses it. Even the ele’s lava font build would be a stretch as I prefer LH.
What if you don’t have the exp scroll? Then you cannot level to 80 purely by crafting. And for obvious reasons, you don’t really go beyond level 400 on any profession.
I don’t know, this might be a foreign concept for some people but you might want to consider leveling to 80 by a means that is not exclusively crafting, such as… well… playing the game?
“Play how you want”, buddy. Not everyone wanna level a character traditional way when it’s more time and cost efficient to just craft. Not to mention it’s boring as hell to go out in the open world. WvW karma train makes it less painful though.
“Play how you want” logic can only go so far. Come on man. They want people to go out and experience the content that they made. If you aren’t interested in the world content, why even bother playing at all.
If all GW2 has to offer is world content then I wouldn’t be playing at all. But no, GW2 has dungeons and WvW which is my primary and only concern. I want to do both of these in level 80.
I used the “play how you want” cliche in a sarcastic way in reference to those pugs who “play how they want” in dungeons resulting in a bad run. If “play how you want” applies in dungeons, so in here.
^^ Going by the presumptions that it’s actually hard to learn those. It is not. A competent player who mastered one class will have no trouble adapting to a new one. If it takes you 20hrs+ to level in the open world, a skilled player will have mastered that class in just 10hrs way ahead of you who may not even have all the skills and traits at that point.
So you are basically saying that all the terrible pugs we all see are noobs because they didn’t complete enough hearts. Interesting.
Genius, now I know what to tell pugs who dies at lupi or can’t do trash runs. Basically they have to do more hearts, maybe some DEs as well.
Anet never intended that a player could reach max level with crafting alone. However due to their problems with the crafting system and not putting a thought to that at the beginning, players could reach max level just doing that. With Anet releasing and nerfing content on a quick and short notice without having it tested correctly and not spending a minute to think about the other issues that might or might not cause, we ending up with a game that has unfortunately it’s economy outbursts. To get those things back on track Anet has to change a lot of stuff in the game, but crafting and getting you to 80 fastest and cheapest way isn’t one of them. Different discussion topic.
On the other note I level’d my 6 characters to 80 in 3 weeks. All of them not just one. It’s pretty simple to get to max level very fast without any efforts. Might want to try that.
Look up on pg1, the devs said hardcore crafter can level to 80 without killing a single mob. And I believe it’s intentional for those that chose to do so. Crafting to 80 is fast but not cheap. Certainly I can earn more gold by doing other things than leveling traditionally.
It’s just a trade. By doing other aspects of the game you enjoy, you earn money. With that money, you spend it to level your new character. That concept doesn’t really bother me. I didn’t say start handing out 80s, and 110g for 56 levels isn’t exactly cheap either.
Right after you crafted to 80s, you won’t suddenly start joining fotm50 or soloing lupi. You get yourself familiar with the character first by doing some cof1 or running wvw.
This is GW2, not that just some other MMOs. One of the features advertised by this game, and the reason some players bought it including myself, is that I don’t have to do things I don’t enjoy. Yes, this is different from other MMOs and that’s one of its selling point.
Let’s not even get into the debate that I’m a “noob” for a powerleveling thru crafting. That could turn ugly fast.
Honestly, I don’t think slowing down powerleveling will make players play mid-level zones. They can just champ train or wvw train. The need to rush to 80 just depends on what you enjoy in the game really. If you only play wvw or dungeons, you need an 80 to play it competitively.
Guardian scepter is certainly a contender assuming your target is huge so that you can land all the hits of #2. Rifle warrior has a good burst so is lb but I don’t they have the dps for sustain engagement.
Comparing ele scepter to staff isn’t even fair. Staff takes the cake followed by LH(melee, just fyi), then maybe scepter. dps test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGALdnDgUE0
I’m not sure about ranger LB, I don’t really use it.
Putting yourself in melee range increases your risk, so you get more effective in exchange.
okay, now explain why warrior rifle does more damage than engineer rifle then.
Or warrior longbow outperforming both ranger bows. Or any other conceivable weaponset outperforming ele staff?
Besides, with the current stack/boon/11111 gameplay, melee puts you at far LESS risk than ranged in PvE. In any form of PvP, the gap closers are far more numerous and powerful than any ability to maintain distance.
Ranged damage universally gets the short end of the stick in this game.
Ele staff has a lot of beef in it, y’know. Arguably the strongest range weapon in the game in terms of raw of dps.
you still can craft to 80 by using only 100g.
Here’s how:
-discovery
-post buy orders for raw mats/thread
Correction, you will NOT be able to craft to 80 with only 100g.
100g covers 8 crafting profession to level 400, each giving 7 character levels.
That’s 7 × 8 = 56 character levels. You can add experience scrolls that level you to 20, which roughly gives you a total of level 76. Not nearly a lvl 80, less so if you don’t have the exp scroll.
@Galtrix
I do dungeons on my other 80 (time & effort) > earn money > craft new character to 80.
I heard you don’t play gw2 anymore, and I’d rather not join you in hello-kitty online.
I don’t know, this might be a foreign concept for some people but you might want to consider leveling to 80 by a means that is not exclusively crafting, such as… well… playing the game?

They said that Precursor crafting have a good change of NOT making it this year. It doesn’t mean it won’t be this year but consider it to be next year.
Mesmer is kinda iffy. It hits hard if you can keep 3 phantasm w/o downtime. I find that not easy.
What I notice is that players usually specialize on 1 utility set (ie. shout warrior) to synergize them with their traits. Adding more slots will just will add those with more of the same utility.
For this to work, they need to spread the popular utilities among different utility sets.
They should also add a cooldown on changing representation to different guilds.
What would be the purpose of that?
Guild cohesion. Right now, it’s harder (than traditionally) to build a guild that feels like a “team” or “family” per se. Players come and go that you don’t even know who is who; one day you’re here another you’re not.
I feel like members should have a bit of commitment to the guild, much like when you joined a club or sports team at school. If you’re only gonna rep a guild 10% of the time, you shouldn’t have joined in the 1st place (exception being mule guilds).
(edited by Yenn.9185)
Arena Net not keeping their promises? That’s new.
They shouldn’t make promises then or let us now ahead of time of their plan. Players will hunt them down for “lying” or “breaking promise” because something change during development.
I think it’s better for them, and us, to NOT let us know future content unless they are 100% sure they can release it.
Let me show you:
“VERY EXPERIENCED ONLY. Zerker Gear. Melee all bosses. Will be quizzed on join. P1”.
Generally easier with a friend so you can boot people. Key thing is put path at the end so they must read to find it.
Thanks for the tip of putting the path at the end. I thought I was “elitist” on my description but yours is another level.
1. Stabo
2-9. take your pick
What the hell is a stabo?
They should also add a cooldown on changing representation to different guilds.
I can skip just fine with any class. But I dunno, just relying on blinds to avoid random stray atks isn’t just doing it. Sometimes it’s the boss auto-atk cleaves or the little things that I usually just facetank on my warrior.
Honestly this kind of phishing mails doesn’t even make it to my inbox.
Anyone wanna give me some pointers on 11k hp thief or ele? I can boss just fine when I know where the attacks are coming from. Having trouble with trash runs and bosses with ads like end boss of SE p3 or some other place when it’s time to stack.
Could it be that when people hate on zerker gear, they aren’t really hating on zerker gear? Instead, they’re responding to the relatively shallow gameplay that is most PvE where doing damage as quickly as possible is simply more effective than anything else?
It doesn’t justify hating on players who uses zerkers. The frustration due to the shallow gameplay of PVE shouldn’t be shifted to those that are OK with the gameplay of doing dmg as quickly as possible.
The problem comes from the players who don’t wanna use berserkers but feel compelled to do so. No one is forcing you to play zerkers but please don’t join a speedrun/zerker parties.
^^ Way to make a blanket statement. At that age group you mention, 16-25, almost everyone I know is a full-time student. And you’re off-topic.
A skilled player will handle any gear just fine, perhaps with equal difficulty. A low-skilled player may have difficulty using berserkers.
But killing everything and wearing a cleric setup just to play how you want and slow everybody down is not correct , it’s selfish .
Wrong, they payed for the game they can play it how they want without being selfish. It’s very simple, don’t pug.
lol who are you to tell anyone not to pug. If you can do a walk in park/smell the roses runs with the pug, why can’t he do a zerker/skip everything run with the pug? As long as he’s playing with like-minded players, there’s no problem there.
Zerkers are not necessarily Elitist.
Also true for thieves , I was using my thief back then , but when Im the only one in zerker gear with 10k hp and 1,9k armor with a terrible PUG , you will go down first if they are cleric \ PVT users . I would suggest to roll warr if you’re forced to pug , because you can carry bads with a war .
Adding insult to the injury, they’re probably thumping their chest because they’re alive in their pvt/clerics. Just gotta choose party well.
You are making it look like that EVERY dungeons runs is zerkers only. It is not. If new players cannot handle zerkers, then don’t wear it until they’re comfortable enough. Adding vitality will lessen the risk (more apparent in inexperience players) in zerkers.
I honestly don’t think new players need more handicap at this point. Zerker is the meta but nothing prevents anyone from not playing like one, that includes finding a group and finishing a run.
There is lot of non-zerkers and non-speedrun parties. When an ad simply says “LFM P1” without any hint like “dps builds” etc, then it is understood that anyone and any builds are welcome.
I think a lot of those against speedruns, or just want a fun casual runs should just start their own party with “LFM all paths” etc. We need a lot more of you guys willing to do that. These kinds of party fills faster than a zerker party anyways, so honestly do not see the complain regarding playing with like-minded players.
There’s nothing wrong with Guild Wars 2 RNG, I have plenty of Blood Dust and no Fractal Sword skin after 500 Fractal runs.
There is nothing with RNG itself. The problem is a lot of players don’t enjoy them (at least that’s what it looks like in the forum).
Adding vitality to zerker stats will make zerker even more overpowered. There is no reason to help casual play zerker by adding defensive stats; they just have to get better.
As it is, for low skilled players: berserker is high risk/high reward
For high skilled players: berserker is low risk/high reward.
Just have to get better.
