Berserker is still the meta gear in PVE. If you don’t have at least a full zerk exotic yet, COF, COE, and Arah offers zerker gears.

At full zerkers, Ele’s survivability is probably the worst in all classes. On another, you also have the best DPS.

Anyways, I probably use 7-8 thumb buttons. Putting the f1-f4 on the thumb is pretty much mandatory to me. Other than that, I would have preferred less buttons since I think the mouse is a little bit bigger for my taste.

Save yourself some headache in PVE.

There is no tank or healer.
Instead there are DPS, support and CC.
Everyone is primarily a DPS.
You are self-sufficient
Support and CC comes from your utilities, skills and traits, NOT gears.
Just wear Berserker or in some cases Assassins, then pick your build depending on how you want to play.

Too many of the people who play it chose it because they were looking for the best they could for as little money to spend as possible. Obviously not all, but a huge amount of people yes.

This is probably going to sound harsh, but those people are not really customers, then.

They may have been at the start, but if all someone has ever paid towards this game is the initial price of the game, they can’t really be seen as that, anymore.

In fact, if anything, at this point (i.e. three years in), they are probably costing the company more than they initially made it.

So, if they’re not customers, what is their function, from a company’s (cold, hard cash) POV?

Probably the best description is game-filler and given that at least some of them are probably currently making the game seem far worse, for others, rather than better (I’m talking about some of the rude “pro” types, in dungeon speedruns, for example), it could be fairly debatable whether they are worth keeping around, anyway.

Nah, I think everyone who plays the game is still a customer. Anet chose the free to play (with initial cost) model instead of sub. Just because the model allowed players not to spend real life money other than initial cost doesn’t make any player less of a customer. In that case, the fault is in the business model, not the players.

If that’s the case, then how many weeks or months does someone stop being a customer after not spending anything after buying the game?

If people are that picky about their group composition, why don’t they just go on guild/friend runs where coordination would likely be much easier?

Because that’s not always possible. Your play time may be different than guild/friends, or they may already have done the path. Also, organizing 4 other friends/guildies when you’re short in time to run maybe 1 or 2 paths, well, could take time. PuG is still the fastest way to get a group at your most convenient.

This is the very thing I hate in games like this.

why though? It can help you improve ur skills

No it doesn’t, there is no skill in blindly adhering to a system. That’s like saying filling out forms is a skill or obeying the traffic lights as you drive.

I have several builds I like on each of my characters, and only one build on one character out of all of them is a berserker build, the most ‘efficient’ build. But I am, good with all of them. I used to carry through CoE speed runs on a tanky condi glyph elementalist. I didn’t tell anyone that was my build, as it was none of their business, or yours. Because they would have likely made the same ill-informed snap judgments you and most players would make were they to be given the tools you are suggesting.

Yes, in a ‘play how you want’ casual party. In a zerker only party, I don’t think so. Ofc, if the other party members is unskilled, it wouldn’t be a good run regardless of gear anyways.

Also if your playing alone, in open world for example, I don’t care what build you use. But when start partying with other player, you’re no longer just responsible for your own. What build you use doesn’t just affect you, but also your party members.

It wasn’t always in a casual party, I joined plenty of the all zerker parties, and just lied about my build, and it made absolutely no difference, the clear times didn’t change and not once in the months it took me to get my CoE gear did anybody even notice. In fact I frequently got complimented and friended from my dungeon runs.

Why? No on plays perfect no matter how much they laud themselves as ‘leet’, I often saved those parties when one or multiple people missed a dodge against Subject Alpha. For the few unnoticeable seconds they lost on each run, every 3-4 runs I singlehandedly saved them minutes by averting a wipe. In fact I liked joining those parties, as it insured that I was to be the only condimancer in ANets laughably dysfunctional stat system.

I just don’t like that mentality/attitude is all. What if I posted a zerker only party and 4 other members lied about their builds? What now? It wouldn’t be a good run, no doubt. I agree that unless it’s a record run, 1 member running suboptimal build probably won’t have noticeable difference. Just 1 though, what if 2 or 3?

Pot and kettle.

You don’t like the attitude that others have, others don’t like the attitude that you have. This is the endless cycle between “casuals” or “bads” and “elitists”.

They don’t stop to think that maybe how they feel about what others do is also how others feel about what they do. Very rarely does this kind of consideration ever come into play before the almighty kick button is pressed and voted.

Nobody wants to play together anymore, only argue like babies so that they can shave a few minutes off of a run, and it has just become downright awful.

This is precisely why tools like a DPS meter cannot exist.

Maybe you misunderstood me or did not read the entirety of our conversation. Regardless of what type of run it is, casual or speedrun, I don’t like players who lie to get in any party. They shouldn’t have to as there is ALWAYS a party for everybody to join.

And please, people do wanna play together. This is what the thread is about, looking for like-minded players.

It would be nice to have something like Recount so i can see who isn’t pulling their weight. Can’t stand leechers who get loot and gold off of others hard work and abilities.

This is attitude is precisely why they don’t have recount, and I, for one, am happy with their decision. There are several reasons why:

  1. There is more to this game than flat out DPS. Just because someone chooses to focus on condition removal, CC, and/or healing doesn’t make them lazy “leechers.”
  2. This is a game. There is no “hard work” involved. It’s all play. If you want to participate in a system where your hard work and abilities are recognized then get a job and excel at it.
  3. If you’re forming a random group it should be just that: random. You’re not entitled to play with only the best of the best players when you choose the random route. If you only want experienced players who conform to your specific glass cannon style of play then form a guild that focuses on that, and do things with them. Otherwise try to be a good in-game citizen and quit worrying about how everyone else does or doesn’t play.
  4. There are too many trolls out there who will deliberately do nothing whatsoever knowing that recount will expose them and incite fits of rage in players with attitudes like yours. You’re thinking that recount will improve the player base’s quality, but as a long-time WoW player I can attest that it often does the opposite.

1. If I wanted to play with other DPS-minded people, I should be able to.
2. Not a great analogy. Lets keep the comparison within the game.
3. The LFG tool is not really random. The description is there so one can personalize their party.
4. DPS may be an extreme measure. We just need a filter to better control who joins the party.

Zerkers will have only zerker people , all welcome people just dont set lfg specification so everyone can join .

This was proposed earlier in the thread, and I think is a good middle ground. A meter of some kind may single out a individual, but a filter will not discriminate as long as they meet the requirement.

Essentially, all players on all servers will end up on the same PVE map assuming it’s not yet full. And even if the map is full and the game puts you on another instance of the map, you can just party him and join him. This applies to all open world PVE maps. In case of dungeons, it doesn’t even matter since you will get a pop up to join him.

The only time world/server matters is with WvW. You cannot join your friend on WvW on their current matchup against BG and SoS.

Everything in the world has standards.
If you’re holding an interview for a job position and hiring someone do you not have standards?

Comparing a game to a job validates everything I believed about you and makes a completely justified dismissal of your point on the grounds that you lack social skills. Which, again, you disregard as a concept and apply your own meaning of “antisocial” toward. I’m beginning to think it’s just a playlist of projection with you and any actual social constructs or values are meaningless because you’re too far up your own kitten .

Why should only one type of player have to go through the hassle of manually searching for people?

Because they are a minority.

Both groups can coexist albeit segregated when given the proper tools.

You simply want to limit the enjoyment of one group because you believe/belong in the other.

You don’t know me and don’t know how to categorically define me, so please don’t?

Secondly, the tools exist – guilds and friends lists.

There is an amount of responsibility to be held when using the LFG tool and finding PUGs. If someone needs a damage meter to tell them that someone isn’t playing to their standards, they’ve failed. The LFG tool, common sense and observation allows enough of an efficiency quota that the DPS meter is nothing more than a boldface lie by elitists to mistreat others.

The solution is simple, yet nobody actually wants to accept the solution because, again, they find it more enjoyable to disservice “carebears” than to be reasonable: join a guild.

Join a guild?

I could easily flip that argument. You kept implying that the hardcore group has to rely on joining a guild/friends list, while the casuals has the current lfg tool. The lfg tool wasn’t intended to be use only by casuals, but by all groups of players.

Responsibility? Yes I agree. That is following and respecting the party description set forth by the lfg ad. Despite that, we still have players who join even if they don’t fit the description.

nah, even though I usually follow mmorpg´s “metas” and try to max out my characters in the best way and I am not a friend of “flower sniffing”, it is still not your business. I also consider joining parties when not fulfilling their requests really rude. Still, “your” party does not “belong” to you, my stats are none of your business, period. Pay me RL money, maybe I work according to your wishes then.

With that self-centered attitude, it is apparent working in team is not your strong suit. And no, you do not have to pay me or the party organizer any money. You do not work for him or her, you work for the team.

You sound like a kitten.

Amazing contribution to the discussion right here.

But he’s right – why should some work and others reap the benefits?

The loot structure in GW2 make the whole “reaping rewards” idea invalid. As long as they are contributing, they’re helping. It’s not necessarily rocket science – the game is laughably easy. PUG dungeon runs with bearbow/PTV thieves are done with relative ease. Proposals like this are just a whitewash to cover up the disgusting, ugly community that is composed of elitists.

How does it make it invalid? If you can do 4 dungeon paths per hour instead of 3, that’s higher rewards for you and your party. There are also varying degree of contribution. If I simply autoattack the entire run, that’s helping but I don’t know anyone who would want someone like that in their group. Completing a run with “relative ease” is also a matter of perception. There is a “relative ease” of not wiping or “relative ease” of actually doing a speed run.

You think I’d let people in my serious runs in only to “realize” they’re in cleirc?

They ping their gear and abide by the LFG rules or get the kick way before we start the run.

The whole idea is to create a tool through which me and the hypothetical “cleric” player never meet.
We don’t waste each other’s time. We don’t create tension between us, we don’t argue because we never meet.

That’s what I want. It’s less traumatic for him too because he doesn’t have to be subjected to the current " ping gear or prepare to be ejected from the party" experience.

If the LFG tool is doing it’s job, then you don’t need a recount which helps keep players who just want to do the dungeon from suffering the antics of elitists they will undoubtedly encounter.

I agree, but unfortunately, the lfg tool is not doing its job enough. Elitists and carebears still ends up being in the same party resulting in the elitist being a##hole and hurting the feelings of the carebear.

I can’t fathom the sheer idiocy of such a statement as it pertains to Guild Wars 2. Since when are the dungeons in this game that hardcore to require something like a DPS meter? There is not a single thing in this game outside of maybe grinding a Legendary that can be even remotely referred to as “work.” Half the time I end up four-manning a dungeon because the group is too impatient to wait for someone else to join. Coupled with the fact that everyone gets their own loot from dungeons and freeloaders don’t steal anything from you you’ve been trying to get, why is it such a problem? Because it took an extra minute or two to down a boss because someone wasn’t Zerker? Oh. My. Jesus. I’m quitting the game right now.

It’s not just about the extra time it took the run to finish. The smoothness of the run is also considered. If a 1 min boss took 2 min instead, that’s higher the chance that someone might miss dodge, then domino effect, could lead to a wipe. Those things leaves me scratching my head at the end; it just wasn’t a pleasurable experience.

It may help you improve your damage, not skills. I haven’t done any dungeons in this game yet, but i assume there are more roles than just dps. And if someone is doing their job of controlling mobs, or having to be boon/condition heavy, their dps will be lacking. Then some elitist will come along and slam them for “not pulling their weight”.

I enjoy it as a novelty in games that have it, but they do more harm than good…

Possibly instead of a meter used in battle, there were practice dummies with built in dps meters which you could practice your rotation on. I could see that as beneficial

Damage and support are not mutually exclusive. In Gw2’s soft trinity, dps always comes first, then support second. If you prioritize support, it will diminish your overall effectiveness.

Keep in mind that CC, offensive and defensive support comes primarily from weapon skills, traits, and a little bit from your traits. You can still be in DPS gears while at the same time doing as much support for your team.

I think this comes down on how entice more players to play wvw. If more players hop on wvw, it will come to point where each server can saturate their queues. At that point, there will be a balance population.

The rewards relative to effort and participation needs a hard look. Players who used to not like dungeons now play them, and got better at them, because of rewards, for example.
