Thoughts? It’s insane.
What Shield needs is a small range increase on Shield Bash and Shield Stance CD being lowered by 5 seconds or so. I just don’t think Engies should have a better block on their kit than a kitten Warrior holding a big shield.
I wouldn’t mind Shield Stance being a Taunt, but alas.
No counterplay to berserkers stance —-> Physical damage.
berserker’s stance is perfectly fine. Rampage is the problem.
I think the opposite, Rampage is actually somewhat useful now. It’s zerker stance that makes it unstoppable.
I’m not sure why everyone gets resistance but warrior is an exception to the rule.
Because after Adrenaline changes, Warrior has no viable Condition removal and Berserker Stance fills that gap which temporarily gives immunity to all conditions.
Comparing it other classes, Warrior is the most vulnerable to damage conditions.
hi! thieves condition removal would like a word.
Shadow’s Embrace and Ranger’s stolen thing are really good.
Stupid devs obv got no brain.
They didnt give a kitten about d/d….Idk, i think the devs should focus on balancing thief players instead of trying to balance the thief class. I mean thief players have no skill’s. Except for does who does & can actually kill stuff.
saying thief players have no skill is a direct insult to all thiefs that have spent countless hours trying to master this class.
Yes we HAD superior damage but i came at high risk and took a lot of skill to pull off outnumbered fights,
of course there is the occasional 22222222222222222 thief, but saying thief doesn’t take skill is closed minded and probably coming from someone who doesn’t know how to play thief.Agreed. The level of stupid in that previous post just about broke my BS meter.
DHawk.2687: 2-2-2-2-…2.. occasionally you say? Roflol.. ok sure.
& Raven, after reading your complaints about the changes & all, i’m not even surprise that it would take much to break your meter. But like i said before there are thief players that have adapted & overcome. Why the other 99% of the thief players cant do the same?
What Thief spams 2? Seriously? Is that how deer rank PvE hero thieves act? I wouldn’t know.
You heartseeker to gain stealth, use it as a movement skill and maybe finish off someone when you know a single HS is all it’s going to take. You never spam it into 50% hp targets because you will whiff and lose all initiative.
My concern is just mesmers atm, its actually put me of pvp entirely. I used to love it before the change usually ranked top of my team etc.
But now it seems all of the classes i actually enjoyed struggle something shocking against a mesmer. For example on my engi i just went to engage a mesmer, im not glass cannon and i was dead within a second, i couldnt even activate one skill. 28k damage, dead. Thats nothing short of kittened when you cant even defend yourself.
Mesmers and eles are bonkers. But to fix them they need to overhaul them, take a look at their actual mechanics, not numbers, and Anet is never going to do that anymore.
I tried a similar build, though it was some time since then, so I can sure give it a shot now. Hey, if it works for you, that’s great.
Just ran a practice game with your build. It’s actually worse than I thought lol. Everything of what I say applied. This build can’t kill anything, can’t duel anything, especially FotMs like eles and mesmers. It’s a very weak melee stunbot without any damage or any real staying power. A D/D ele is worth three warriors like this.

2-3+ years with: no serious change, no serious action, no serious anything to make thief profession challenging and fun. What difference asking developers to care about thief profession inquiries if thief do not require: hard-work, effort, taking risk, skill-play, counter-play, making mistakes and learning from mistakes?
Why nobody take care about our inquiries?

You must be a warrior.
@Gamgee.8612
It’s not supposed to crit. It’s not supposed to tank. Only power. Strength Traitline is used for peak performance.
Read the title , this is for spvp. No food.
The massive damage comes from rampage. I though everyone was aware of that by now. I took distracting strikes only for minor condi pressure.YuiRS.8129
Eh your assumptions are wrong. I suggest you actually try build.
Damage is ok. Rampage is source for even more damage if needed. The amount of stun lock is to prevent kiting, but again i’m capping circles not chasing. This is not supposed to be bunker.
I’m not even gonna comment on “Mesmer can stand outside of the circle for 5 seconds to kill you”.
Be more constructive.
A non-crit power build does “ok” damage? Sure. Whatever you say.
And what do you do anyway? You stand in the circle to cap it and then die and give it back? How do you stay in the circle against engies? How do you survive blind/condi spam from eles that goes through your toughness when you can’t reliably land a burst skill? How do you get around from point to point without any mobility to do you “circle capping” duty?

I am playing this game for over 2 weeks, my main is warrior and I give you that: Rampage is a game changer, especially 1v1
Today I had some pvp matches and WvW encounter, mostly I was being rekt hard but when I popped Ramp I got 1 or 2 ppl in few hits. This might be OP but only for 20 sec every 2 minutes.
Actually Rampage is pretty to deal with 1v1. Just kite, spam blind and/or weakness. It’s when a Warriors comes from around the corner in a team fight and motorboats his keyboard to 1shot someone it becomes a problem.
As far as PvP goes there’s not Warrior, there’s Rampage. It’s actually the name of the class now. Outside of that Warriors are completely useless.
The game’s been done in for a long time now. Some classes can basically do everything while others are kept on a short leash because “flavor” or something… Like when they trashed War’s Shoutbow because converting boons is not “a warrior’s thing”.
The power creep and general design failures have reached such magnitudes that a complete overhaul is needed. But they just finished making one, so we aren’t seeing another one for a long time, maybe never.
Ele, Engie and Mesmer are completely god tier now. Not because of numbers but because of mechanics.
I’ve actually met some thieves who prefer P/P as their ranged choice over SB because of the damage. It’s also funny how everyone talks about how weak and nub P/P is, even after getting facerolled by Unload.
I’m a scrub and I’ve never been killed by a P/P Thief. Although I’ve seen in played like twice in sPvP.
you have the best mobility in the game
lol
Have fun outrunning Ride the Lightning+Burning Speed+Lightning Flash with perma Swiftness.
o hai Ele. Your class is insanely overpowered because you have the best mobility in the game, the best sustainability in the game, one of the best defenses in the game thanks to Frost Aura and long Protection uptime and you also deal great damage because you can stack the overpowered Burning condition really well.
Human male idle staff animation looks silly for a melee weapon.
this build soffer too much opponent kiting or decent dodge usage
There’s not much option to kite inside circle. I don’t know what you mean by decent dodge usage.
Mesmer can stand outside of the circle for 5 seconds to kill you, then take the point back. You can’t bunker against two people for long because you lack healing and active mitigation.
No damage, gets kited like a legless toddler, blind spam hard counters this build, condis with blind spam murder this build, zero mobility, zero team support…
This build should be good against special needs thieves who can’t find dodge and don’t run shadowstep.
A lack of a response is a response in and of itself.
It probably will be slow or resistance.
Yup. A bit boring though.
Maybe their axe pull thing? Throw some thing and it pulls everyone to it for 2-3 seconds?
So, some people are now believing that thief will get melee staff as their elite spec, not rifle.
I personally think this would be a mistake
First off, Revenant already has melee staff, and it would be more than a bummer to get what is basically the same thing on thief.
Second, and more importantly, thief has plenty of melee options, some of the best melee options in game (if not the best), so they really do not need yet another melee weapon. The area where thief is severely lacking is ranged options. They are the only class in game that has no means of attacking a target beyond 900 range, and giving them rifle with 1200 range would perfectly fill that gap in thief’s abilities.
Lastly: rifle can only be used by two classes in game currently, Warrior and Engineer. Engineer rarely actually uses the rifle, other than as a ’stat-stick" and for two attacks in melee range. And warrior rifle is severely under-powered (yeah, it has a place in PvP for some burst damage, but is still mostly outmatched by longbow) so it would be very nice to see a class make use of the rifle as a primary weapon.
I guess our sword is exactly the same as warrior’s sword. They’re melee and swords, right?
Oh hey, what if they actually had different skills? I wonder…
Every rogue needs a gang.

Experience with Thief: played it a bit, quit the game for about a year, forgot how to play. Had a few accounts, but seriously played only on the current one and only just hit Champion of Shadows. Approximately semi-scrub tier PvP player. In PvE I’m lvl 80, got exotics with some random runes and sigils. PvE is a mystery to me, but I heard you press 2 a lot and hope to not get carpal tunnel.
You’re coming back at a bad time. The recent updates more-or-less obliterated the viability of thief on any competitive level.
That’s just plain not true.
It seems that zerker Greatham Warriors are in the meta, judging by the ESL match today, but they’re only good for Rampage cheese during team fights. Furthermore, I think that every class can beat Warriors with minor to medium difficulty, excluding power Necros and maybe some Ranger types. However, Necro has the new Signet build and Ranger has condi builds and their new really powerful taunt. Warriors pretty much lost Shoutbow and every other build is just… bad for 1v1.
Warrior is very slow, telegraphed and relies on actually hitting his opponent with single-strike melee moves, which is the worst type of attack in GW2. It seems that Warrior’s combat style is fundamentally broken. As far as I’m concerned the zerker Warrior only has 3 good attacks: Whirlwind, Reckless Dodge and Hydro+Leeching weapon swap with Fast Hands. Everything else will never touch a competent Ele, Engie or Mesmer.
Shoutbow got nerfed, so Warriors no longer have a place in PvP.
Zerker Warrior has always been a worse Thief or Mesmer, which is much more exaggerated post patch. Any Mesmer with half a brain is worth two zerker Warriors. Maybe more, actually.
Rampage is broken without Peak Performance. With it… it’s just incredibly stupid. It’s funny when you hear Tarcis defending it, he’s so pleased with this patch. Of course! 3 shotting everything left and right sure is fun.
He also doesn’t mind to get 1shotted back when he isn’t using it.
I don’t want the game to go back to invincible celes spamming heals. Although they never truly left.
Everything is viable except Rifle builds if you’re not participating in tournaments.
It was bad even with Ricochet. They need to take a good hard look at the weapon set and actually make it viable. Or, if they don’t feel like it, just slap tons of damage on it and be done with it.
So you traited Merc Hammer and Berserker’s Power and got some might. Okay. That blow was sure… fierce?
It’s just from another WoodenPotatoes’ video. It’s not official, you know.
No idea how could this mess be cleaned up even with all the Asuran tech. Too much metal and submerged in water too.
Just steal something. Problem solved. :-P
Don’t be a smart kitten all your life…. that doesn’t solve the problem of when you do not have a stolen item, which is pretty often.
Don’t be a whiny kitten all your life. What you’re talking about isn’t a problem.
You actually have way more damage that got rolled in and from traits you can pick now, and because your not locked into picking initiative traits you get to pick up a TON of utility from other traits.
The only thing p/p lost was a tiny bit of range, and ricochet.
Ricochet provided the AOE damage that the P/P build desperately needs. Losing the range is a huge blow—-even in PvE.
But, more importantly, it is/was a FUN build to play.
Sorry—-Anet blew it on this one.
There’s no accounting for taste, but how was P/P fun? Unload spamming is fun?
I take Inner Fire, Wrath of Justice and Amplified Wrath in Radiance,
>No Radiant Fire
What are you doing man. Radiant fire is broken OP.
so is wrath of justice lol
i havent logged in yet but unless radiant fire is hitting 4k+’s then i’d run wrath of justice every time
It’s way more than 4k on a condi build.
This is a straight buff, it gives thieves more options. Just learn to use it.
PvP:

D/P still going strong. I like Flanking Strike more than Thrill of the Crime, because you also gate Fury and Quickness is pretty manageable. E.g. you can poke a downed body in the back for a Quickstomp etc. It’s really strong, even though the CD is long.
Marauder Amulet, Vampirism Runes.
Withdraw, Shadowstep, Shadow Refuge, Blinding Powder, Basilisk Venom. The usual.
I like the “newer” version of D/P with Blinding Powder better, since it opens a bit more opportunities for rezzing, quick long stealth with Black Powder+Blinding Powder, works as a damage mitigation if you got CC’d thanks to Resilience of Shadows, quickly cleanses a condi from you etc.
The new D/P got better and a lot tougher. Shadow Rejuv plus Shadow Protector grant a nice deal of sustainability and the 17k HP pool allows to survive really well. The new Improv is sometimes okay and sometimes nuts. Getting dazed for 10 seconds isn’t fun, I wager.
Ye olde D/P is much tougher now with more health and Shadow Rejuv (with Marauder Amulet). Double item from Improv can get ridiculous and enables game changing plays.
Also, we rez really quickly and efficiently, which surprised me a little bit.
Liking it overall. Pretty much same old stuff, but D/P got a bit more forgiving and received sustain. Wasn’t getting blown up nearly as much as I expected.
Not every trait is good for everything….Nor i did say anything similar. I just think it is pretty lazy trait that you must have. It should be adept or something similar, not minor. That is just my opinion, and it is not really that good.
No, you wanted it to be good at 1v1 for some reason. Well it’s not, it’s a support trait. If it was a major nobody would be taking it, but what it does now is give Thief some team support automatically. With this trait you can interrupt a stomp even when you’re out of Initiative and also protect yourself and the downed body from cleave. It’s fine in my opinion. Lots of other classes get similar traits.
(edited by YuiRS.8129)
You need condi removal, so yes. Shadow Rejuv is also pretty good.
Buffed, but some other classes are getting buffed more. Adrenaline skills don’t share a CD. Killshot is crap as always, but it got buffed a bit.
I might of missed out on some dialogue text somewhere that answer my question but I have been wondering about this,
why do we not see any dragons flying around burning up the place, burning some stuff, eliminating some races and other mundane dragon tasks? As it would seem they are fully capable of destroying and dominating terrain, so except for the obvious gameplay issues (possibly technical or other too) why don’t they?
Dragons and their minions may be tough, but it’s too risky just flying into enemy lands. We good guys have them bows. And ballistae. And freakin’ lazers mounted on airships.
Slow down. I’m still trying to process the previous 20 toughness buff. If balance continues at such an alarming rate I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up with the patches.
20 toughness is not enough.
with 200 toughness and 50% health threshold, thick skin may actually be useful. somewhat.
That was a joke you just experienced…
Anyway, yes. I think Thick Skin would actually do something if it was like you’re suggesting.
Really. P/P lacks defensive mechanisms and this change will make it a bit more usable, plus promote it’s role as a hybrid weapon set with Bleeds and direct damage all in one, since you will be able to actually use Sneak Attack.
Other proposed changes:
Vital Shot damage increase. It’s beyond pathetic right now. Either make it 15-20% faster so it applies bleed better or make it deal 25% more direct damage.
New traits. “Interrupting skills while wielding a Pistol in your main hand reduces the Initiative cost of the next skill you use to zero.” Or by 50%. Or something.
“When attacking a target affected by Vulnerability, your shots pierce.” You really need piercing shots since things like turrets, clones and zoo builds exist. And hitting another target isn’t getting outplayed, it’s getting hard-countered. Too hard, I’d say.
Not only would those traits make P/P stronger, but make it more fun, promoting skill play and not mashing one button like you were a Ranger.
(edited by YuiRS.8129)
uh? not more than it does now. It wasn’t buffed. There is no changes to make it hit harder. The dps changes are all based on what comes after a burst skill is used.
Actually no, Berserker’s Power activates before the Burst Skill hits, so the bonus damage still applies. It’s like Merc Hammer.
Is this confirmed?
I saw that on the stream yesterday. The guy did ~11k Killshot on a Light Golem without the trait and ~13k with it. It also triggers even if you miss your burst skill, unlike Cleansing Ire.
“When you successfully interrupt a skill while wielding Pistol in your main hand, your next attack doesn’t spend Initiative. When you attack a foe that’s under the effect of Vulnerability, your shots pierce.”
Skillful play, better pressure damage when playing skillfully, Body Shot being situationally useful instead of bad. Also, increase #1 damage by 25%.
And even then Pistol would still be weak, but maybe not the most useless weapon set in the entire game.
But but but…. I can’t dodge 7 times in a row anymore…
I have to actually concentrate on dodging correctly instead of the usual, “oh i wasted a dodge but nvm I got some extra might”. No more casual thiefing.
Sigh, my favorite trait line (Acrobatics) have been nerfed to oblivion ._.
Well, thieves can’t facetank planets like engineers. With the new patch you get condi bombed once – you’re dead. The class lacks sustain and natural toughness to such an extreme degree it has to rely on bullkitten suck as perma evades and perma blinds. Although thieves aren’t the kings of blind anymore.
Why should every trait be good for everything? It’s pretty strong for group play, especially with Resilience of Shadows.
Well then make 1 or 2 pieces of Soldier or change your trinkets.

Pretty much. What a sad, pointless patch for this class. It won’t change the game for Warriors at all.
Do shields even stack duration?
They do.
