Tarnished coast as this problem and even everyone in the normal one says it is a bug we don’t all rp and more people are at gendarrian than in TC at all times anyways. I notice I also disconnect in the normal one randomly with no connection issues and end up right back in the overflow which has barely anyone

Krytan Same Sex Laws

The only reason the animosity against same sexes exists in real life because the laws are based on religions of the nation writing those laws. The gw 1 and 2 lore of humanity has no such religious basis for such laws to begin with! The gods never cared about that and never said same sex is wrong.

Same sexes stuff exists because of our genetics and biology of animals, not because a god said it is to be or not to be so.

Anet did it right and stayed true to real world in that a religion makes it so whether something is allowed or not and laws being written to reflect the will of a religion.

How to fix everything in gw 2 without trinity

If gear was based on a stats/attribute system like gw 1 had ( 9-12 in fire magic to use that staff), “You need 500 base toughness for a Knight’s masquerade mask (rare)”, level and increasing level cap in the future would make sense. With legendaries needing like 1200 in a stat (1400 actually in my proposal below) and would be only obtainable by lv 100 or so unless you up a trait line for power.

Note: we have 916 in every stat with no equipment on, go ahead try it!

Source for this is From wiki:
All professions have four common primary attributes, two offensive and two defensive. Primary attributes grow with character level, starting with 24 in each at level 1. Each level up through level 9 grants 4 points to each attribute; levels 10–19 grant 6 points each; 20–29, 8 points; … 70–79, 18 points; 80, 20 points.

At level 80, all professions have a base 916 power, precision, toughness, and vitality.
Now that makes me wonder why we have levels and base stats if everything that is good in the game is only lv 80. Oh wait….

I think Gear instead should have had stat ranges based on its old current level and the required stat ranges be modified in respect to the % extra damage bonuses according to rarity with white being closet to base stats and to blue and higher based on their boosts to damage in respect to whites:

white lv 1-80 instead needs 10-800 power, vit, tough, condition damage, precision, or healing
blue lv 1-80 instead needs 12-1000 power, vit, tough, or precision
green lv 14-80 189-1080 power, vit, tough, or precision
yellow lv 30-80 435-1160 power, vit, tough, or precision
exotic lv 62-80 1023-1320 power, vit, tough, or precision
ascended lv 80 1400 power, vit, tough, or precision
Legendary lv 80 what ever highest tier’s damage modifier at 80 was. right now its ascended so 1400.

Now what you are thinking is that the base stats at lv 80 are far too low to even equip lv 80 equipment past white rarity. This what traits are for.

The game should be overhauled for this and also two new attributes should exist:
Magical power and ranged power.

Magical power is for scholar professions and guardians, yet all professions get it as we all use magic in some way. This will separate power which seems to be more of physical non-magical attribute from the casters who are solely magic users as gw 1 did for its weapons where casters needed their own separate stat to use staves, wands, foci, etc. with a relax on requirements for the more physical based weapons to be fair as they will have to focus on their most used attributes.

Non-magical or semi-magical professions used strength (warrior) or dagger mastery (as:sas:sin) or something.

Ranged power is for ranger and engineers or warrior for their rifles/bow or thieves and their ranged weapons.

As for the inability to get over 916 in a certain attribute to eqiup now, I propose that the weights for stat gain on level up be increased or trait stat bonuses be upped to maybe 20-30 a trait point added in each area instead of 10.

So instead of 300 more power or precision (you only reach 1216 as it is now with 30 in a trait line), you have 600-900 more. More than enough if we never get more traits if a level cap increase happens, otherwise we always have to eat food to equip stuff (which is totally unfair). Its also easier to balance I think as you just change numbers around on enemies and stuff.

In conclusion, this is all a proposal for GW 2 if we ever face a level cap increase and it will be much more fair to non lv 80s (or whatever the new cap is) getting the best gear and not so much heavy reliance to rushing to lv 80 (or new cap) for everything and skipping all the content and beautiful maps we have. It may even do away with half of the repeat gear/skins for all the levels and make smaller the current horrible loot tables so the stuff that really matters (crafting materials precursors) drops for us more often.

3 hours for nothing - Partyleader left

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Yumiko Ishida.3769

Yumiko Ishida.3769

We’re currently looking into solutions for this and another nasty case: Party leader leaving the party and ejecting folks from the dungeon, forcing them to restart.

One of the solutions we’re investigating to the problem you posted though, is for the instance ownership to transition to the new “party leader” so that instead of everyone getting the boot, there is a player in the party who becomes the new owner and the group can continue on.
I’m sure I’m making it sound easier than it really is, but that is one of the solutions we are investigating. There’s a lot of tech magic way beyond my pay-grade that needs to happen, but we are working on a solution to this issue.

You guys should have thought of that on day one! Many instanced dungeon crawler mmos and just online join-in and play rpgs (like Sega’s Phantasy star Online [original]) and like hack-and-slash gauntlet types of games employ this to allow seemless transitions of keeping the instance going in case those sort of things that are out of control happen.

Yet there also needs to be a way to know who is leader once the old one leaves. PSO 2 has a little star that is extra for the leader in their hud on their life/energy guages I guess our small parry hud would have a small icon as well or maybe a border around a character’s mugcshot?

I’m a not expert in IT, but by the looks of it, i think in the other NCSoft games i play, the dungeon instance is actually owned by the game server and not by any party member, in gw2 is the other way around, a player is the one who host the dungeon, this relieve the game server for hosting the dungeons and allow infinite party’s to run the same dungeon at same time and with players of different world witch is awesome, but has this problem, if the owner leaves/dc/whatever all the group is kicked out, what we are asking is not easy for them to do, the best of 2 worlds, but they created this game, so impossible is nothing

i do think Spvp arenas are hosted by the server, so they can make the server host dungeons, so we never get kicked out as long as the party stays a party, but this way, they cannot allow you to stay there forever wasting gamer server resources and wasting that slot, they would have to set a limit time to finish the dungeon so you can’t stay there forever, that’s how works on other games, but normally with that system we can’t party with people form other worlds.

I’m looking forward to see how anet is gonna solve this “issue”

In my opinion would be better just create something like a EU dungeon server/world that you could get there like u go in Spvp, clicking on the swords menu, or the dungeon portals in the pve maps take it you to this “dungeon server” where u have several portals to all the the different dungeons and being like a “hall of dungeons” with the lions arch dungeon items vendors npc’s and merchants, etc… and since it would be a EU worldwide server, players from all EU servers could meet up there.

This is how Phantasy Star Online did it but through everyone’s clients sort of synced up (caused other problems though, but gw 2 and its dungeons will not have those problems a 15 year old game would). The quests selection and instances were relegated to the leader and if he left the generated game it will just change to the next person, no interruption. How it worked was that the parties formed a sort of layered instance where you have a named room+ optional extra functions such as locked with password, difficulty mode (game restricted to a certain minimum level + difficulty, level restrictions, etc. [in the sequel only] the room is sort of a section of a vast city where the shops are, then a portal to the actual places you could go to, and a quest counter which made a secondary level of instance that when the quest was over/or failed everyone was forced to leave and go back to the lobby (like our dungeons here but no lobby).

In either case, whether in the free playing of areas or the quests, if one left the instance, the focus of leader will shift down to the next person in order. Red→Yellow→Green→Blue then sort of random if people rejoin the room (if open and not in a quest) but it was not until the sequel that a clear indicator of who was leader was given (it started a funny guessing game of everyone taking turns at the quest counter many times).

There is a limit though on how long people can hot join your party/room in PSO2, and I think its an hour from time of creation. I think that would be fair for us too if these changes are to be made.

Who says you can’t take good things from older and newer other games in the history of gaming and improve on them?

How Anet can improve Dungeon system

sorry, but how does prolong the run equal ‘improve’?

the only thing you’d achieve would be longer runs, no more replacements if someone left and overall a horrible experience for pugs, while speedrunners just adjust and drop some paths which have lengthy bonus events (i.e. in ac most people kill kholer anyway now, so it doesn’t matter, but who wants to kill the hounds in cm?)

yes, dungeons need improvement, but this is would be a step in the completely wrong direction.
if you prefer long dungeons to short ones, just do fractals and hope for dredge.

It improves dungeons because its stops the, mindless play-style we all are doing now. We trivialize all the content and not play it how the devs intended. Skipping everything or exploiting certain parts makes the devs look stupid and insults their intelligence and hard work making this stuff. If I was making a game I would not stand for that.

I would kill that play mentality immediately but also make it just as equally rewarding. On top of requiring each room to be cleared or a boss to be killed to proceed, there may be extra goals for fining a crafty way to beat each area (hidden boss damaging trap or a secret solution to a puzzle) promote teamwork and using your head (I.E. achievements that engage the mind, not dumb it down). Dungeons should be doing that anyways not, “Let’s run to the end.” Receive cookie!

Why must people keep shouting expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yumiko Ishida.3769

I want one but I’m torn between a boxed version and a paid dlc (gems in game or cash on their website).

The gem store imo, should have been only used for this stuff and not armor and junk that should be only as drops from x, y, or z bosses.

The reason for a boxed disk, is that I can install it on any machine and enter my account info once I provided the cd key for the first time (as in gw 1 and launch of gw2). A dlc means you may only be able to have it once and when you upgrade your machine… you can never get the download again.

GW2 currently has no physical copies anywhere so if I never had a disk when the game launched I can’t re-install it. As chances are the download is one time use or fear of being sued for piracy or something else serious.

There is one reason we are not seeing an expansion in the physical sense: disks are for making home movies (or pr0n lol) and sharing your photos with family these days (in major gaming companies’ eyes) , not for shipping games (unless you are a console gamer and even that is becoming obsolete).

Pros For Boxed copy:

-Reusable on many machines (just need account info after adding game code/cd key to existing account)
-Shows you physically have it/bragging rights
-No lost install files have to re-download it on a new machine.

Pros of Paid DLC:
-Uses gem store main website, alternate payment methods to obtain.
-No waiting in lines at stores.
-No rain checks if it sells out.
-Easy access to the game install file after purchase.

Cons of Boxed Copy:
-Have to store it somewhere
-Can be lost or stolen and or damaged.
-May become outdated due to newer computer tech (most laptops and towers do not have cd/dvd drives built-in)
-May become outdated to to OS

Cons for Paid DLC:
-Gem store may go down website may go down.
-Gems are too much with gold to gems now. (70 g for 800 atm)
-Credit card fraud rampant
-Install file must be used only once or fear prosecution by the law
-Install file has a time limit on use.
-One install file per customer.
-Install file can be lost or deleted by accident (see above cons for consequences)
-Install file also is useless on a newer OS.

So in other words… other MMOs do not do this advanced method of side by side updating via cloud computing and virtual spaces and that we must still suffer through 5-10 hours of down times every week (looking at you SEGA (PSO2), WOW and <insert game name here>).

Is it similar to the hot swapping and stuff of hardware and software in database admin and such where you don’t need to shut down? I still can’t put my finger on those terms. Trying to find what would be closest to regular cloud computing and running databases if I am to start my own game from the ground up as I would ahev to start with that anyways.

At times like these, I wish I kept my books, and still were in touch with my professors of old. I took stuff like sql and database security admin/oracle database courses.

How does updating the game and the servers (and worlds) of GW 2 work exactly?

I noticed that even in GW 1 you never had to take anything down like other mmos for maintenance (unless something royally was broken—which occurred at least twice already in GW2’s history) to patch both client and game server.

How does it work and what methods are used, if any, to keep it all running smooth between old and new builds and versions of clients?

If its proprietary then give the basic terms like one would learn in a database admin class or something.. (which I took but forgot the terminology.)

Game design and programming is something I’d like to do so i’m very interseted in how this works.

Also other questions: is this a dedicated server or a listen server method of connection or is it something entirely more advanced? I know its definitely not peer to peer.

I’d love to have a dev or an experienced member of the game community answer these questions.

If it must be moved please move to a proper place.

They don’t even appear physically in ToN, they are all shadowy copy-models as if they are hallucinations or toxic shadows if the real deal.

They were left to their own devices right after that alliances defeat. For all we know the Flame Charr and Shiverpeak dredge could be doing their thing in places we have not visited yet. Charr homelands of EotN in gw 2 and possibly dredge in a continent we haven’t even explored yet and even Cantha. Right now the dredge could be licking their wounds with a new leader and their knew tech knowledge and saying never again in terms of scarlet.

It is already well known that dredge are all over the world. Their tunnels reach all across Tyria (planet) not just the continent. Scarlet only subjugated only a small subset of dredge and they were Shiverpeak dredge, the same exact dredge that were under dwarven rule 250 years prior.

The Charr and dredge basically saw an opportunity given my Scarlet’s silver tongue and gambled and ultimately lost but were not destroyed entirely.

Everywhere F&F occurred is post F&F state not not back to launch of game state. We still fight these dredge, yet because of the way mechanics are presented and the way the game is structured event and passage of time wise the game has us in three states of time: Game launch F&f and post F&F. Who’s to say we are not fighting all versions of dredge now at the same time?

Scarlet though being a destructive force on par of dragons, actually has been giving tech to the races that the races such as Asura and Priory humans should have been giving to them all along.

What Tech did she give to the Asura? Didn’t she only study for her own personal gain? And lets not forget that sharing technology with various races is not a good act. The Krait for example are completely evil and extremely dangerous. Giving them technology, or helping them evolve, is in no way a good act.

You misread that line. Missing a comma in there…

Scarlet though, being a destructive force on par of dragons, actually has been giving tech to the races, that races such as Asura and Priory humans should have been giving to them all along.

What I’m saying is she is evening the playing field as the other poster said above. Really only Humans (DR/LA/priory/whispers), Charr and Asura are the three most highly advanced races in the game. Scarlet just gave tech in this LS to krait (toxin making tech), flame charr (metallurgy and a computer), dredge (same as flame charr) and even some NC Sylvari (toxin making tech).

Krait continues to ponder the mysteries of art.

All right, Krait. Let me try and explain to you what is ‘art’.

Art is the human’s feeble attempt to recapture the intangible beauty and preserve it in a tangible form. Artists – these are people who create art – are inspired by many things, from heroic battles of history, breathtaking landscapes, representations of forgotten empires, or symbolization of modern society. Art can take many forms, and it is not limited to paintings. Oh no, art can encompass and embody sculptures, pottery, buildings, music…why, even a suit of armor can be considered ‘art’.

And they’re a good source of my next income.

Yumiko comes home to see her house robbed… “Hikari! My artwork!! Why didn’t you fix that plasma cannon security system yet?”

Hikari: “Sorry mommy, last time we had it up and running, it almost killed my girlfriend and it also maimed your friends too if you recall! It needs a lot of work. Paintings can be restored and rebought, but not lost lives.”

Yumiko: “Sigh… you’re right! Sorry my lovely daugher. I’ll track him (or her) down and cut off his hands though! The Krait will have to wait!”

In fact, come to think on it, a common criticism leveled against her is… how is it that someone so bat-kitten-crazy can manage to be such a consummate diplomat offscreen? What if it turns out that Caera’s Wyld Hunt had been to be the diplomat to unite the races and factions of Tyria against their common enemies? Perhaps the times when she is working to bring disparate factions together are the only times she can regain her sanity – because those are the times when she is acting according to her Wyld Hunt, however twisted her motives and goals may be from what the Dream actually wants her to do?

This is why I like her. She is essentially dissolving the in game racism I hate. Lions arch did it somewhat before her, but on a small scale. By being educated in the Asuran system and other racial education systems… she is showing to all that anyone can do anything no matter what one race (Asura) or another says.

Also further making GW 2 less and less human only as GW 1 once was. This also is a big experiment to see how we as humans in real life really act as a whole to one another and other living things.

In real life, we are like Asura, not so much a care for our environment or other species. Asura in GW 2 are analogous to us. Scarlet though being a destructive force on par of dragons, actually has been giving tech to the races that the races such as Asura and Priory humans should have been giving to them all along.

Asura are more like us in ways and the humans in game are like us.

Scarlet although evil, has been doing at least one good thing in it all.

That’s you and your closed minded GW 1 mentality. If it was your way, we’d still be all humans in GW 2. It would be like the real world a bit; I kinda wish aliens were real and they’d visit our plant and turn the tables a bit. Seeing that will never happen… why in GW 2 should we stay to old GW 1 traditions as well?

Scarlet may not be the best character, but she at least did something for these races not even the Asura, Humans, Sylvari or non Flame Charr would ever do: prop them up a bit and upgrade their societies with her knowledge and tech know how.

Post this LS, we may see dredge with better weapons they had from F&F and new armor and whatnot featuring that new metal.

The Flame Charr would also have this metal.

Krait will remain toxic.

NC might keep their torment and confusion and hallucination skills and more.

what scarlet did not only changed the lore, she improved some of the races tech/abilties…

Atherbaldes (all races) and Inquest just stay the same mostly but humans in the Atherblades get loads of new tech only exclusive to Asura.

The idea from the Scarlet era of gw 2 in lore is the same as it was upon release. Not human-centirc anymore and everyone will be on an even playing field education, tech, and even magic-wise. Scarlet is furthering this idea.

Also, “This is my Story” motto in relation to every race’s individuals and as a whole forging their own paths— even Scarlet wanted to be on her own path not governed by dream or nightmare.

I say she fits very nicely in lore and gameplay if you look at that big picture.

Asura, Charr, and Humans can use Asian names too. NPCs for Charr and Asura use a few short two-three syllable JP names.

Humans this is becasue of Canthans GW2’s equivalent of Asians.

And with Humans: any sensible human name fits.

The lore never stated that other races were excluded from the Asuran education system (this includes Scarlet), its just darn hard to get into it if you are not aura no matter how much IQ you have. As the Asura are just that darn racist. If the Asura were the only truly smart people how would the priory exist? An Asura runs it now, but a Human ran it long before him.

Its not the GIXX PRIORY its still the Durmand Priory! Durmand was a human and by that logic no race is smarter than any others. The Asura only believe they are smarter because they are ignorant bigots in lore.

This shows why I like Scarlet. She shows to the world and the player the Asura were wrong in their bookah mentality. You me and Tom, Di_ck, and Jane, and Larry Humans, Norn, Charr, and Sylvari (as in Scarlet) can also do great things and be as intelligent as the tiny pipsqueeks my guardian can stomp with her human foot.

Also to further this point, I RP my guardian as a girl that went through their statics education and was raised by an Asura as a child. No more lore breaking than Scarlet or Priory being on par with Asuran education and tech.

Are you saying what you RP actually effects the lore? Because I’ve seen people on TC RP as vampires and as characters from Lotr. So not sure about your point, your guardian isn’t in any update I seen or is there a living story about your personal character I’ve yet to play through?

Its not what I’m saying… but me rping her in this way where she was educated as an orphan was never frowned upon by any one player that understood the lore, which goes to show most rpers know their lore more than others(the ones you stated that rp things like out of game stuff are usually blacklisted and ignored anyways) and most of them don’t hate scarlet either. I was making a personal example to show that its indeed possible for what scarlet doing what she did education wise can be done. It is more believable than you think!

Grawl on the other hand, got the worst development so far… they seem smartyet primitive at the same time…

In gw 1, they were just these ape men that Charr thought were just worse than humans— or devolved humans at that!

The humans saw them as a nuisance species, especially in Ascalon in the pre-searing days, Stealing food livestock even weapons!

The Charr figured out if they could at least communicate with them they could align and use them for their own goals, which was evidences when Vatlaaw Doomtooth used them as a scouting force in Ashford Abby to cause a distraction while he got info on Ascalon forces in the area (if you ever played prophesies you’d know this.).

In EOTN, The Flame Charr tried to do this yet again, meeting with a Grawl chieftain to make an alliance to attack The Eye of the North, the base at the time for the Ebon Vanguard. You the player and Vael, the sort of eccentric Assassin (at least I thought he was), crash this little meeting and kill them all.

Cut to GW2 they seem just as primitive but now can speak a very noble form of new krytan and worship anything that moves or has magical power. They don’t trust any other smarter races though much anymore.

Scarlet doesn’t break any lore… she in a way helps the lesser enemy races… if she were to help the grawl what would she do? My money is on that she gives them a powerful yet dangerous construct for them to worship and unite all grawl against the other races. We all have to defeat it now!

The species to help the grawl (there always has to be an alliance)? Skritt! That’s right Skritt! The skritt could provide the smarts for the dumb grawl and their construct “god” and maintain it or make it stronger. The skritt have many possible enemies, Asura, (who treated them as experiment bait even before both species went to the surface after Primordius’ awakening.) Humans, (bandits did many mean things to them, even killing their king on occasion.) The pact too really uses them as expendable recon and infantry.

Scarlet obviously hates the pact, hates Queen Jennah, and hates any goody two shoe races that stand in her way. She uses nothing but second fiddle races or main race factions in her goals. They also benefit in a way from her tech.

The dredge already had a voice given to them long before scarlet… they were once slaves of stone summit dwarves and Deldrimor dwarves alike in gw 1 and also kurzicks in Cantha as well. In Gw2’s time they were able to shed their bonds of servitude and take command of their own destiny only to be under a tyrant rule of one dredge of the name Shukov once more (sorrows embrace story mode). Its like, into the frying pan and into the fire deal. In gw 1, they were just mindless foes except for one npc in factions which wanted to make peace with humans. In Frostgorge Sound, they are trying to overthrow another tryrant. Scarlet would be their third (which they just didn’t have a brain to avoid) individual to lord over them in a sense. The dredge are just a sad tragic race in the world of Tyria as the dwarves before them. The Flame legion seemed to have gotten the better end of that deal.

I know my lore and Scarlet didn’t break anything!

The Krait in Gw 1 EOTN had not much known about them except they are xenophobic shapeshifters to be avoided. At least in gw 2 we know about their history a bit and their motives for being so xenophobic and xenocidal. Scarlet just added more fuel to their fire. They wanted to do this and become toxic, sScarlet didn’t force them. they could have not believed her and slain her. They are now more dangerous and more bloodthirsty! We did slay their new “promised prophet” after all!

Charr as we know have the most fleshing out of any enemy race in the game! Even the flame legion (also known mockingly as the gold legion), have gotten a new outlook to their ways and motives and a way to get back from the brink (COE dungeon) and we (the players) ruin it and kill baelfire not once, but twice!

What do they get from scarlet? Only time will tell, but the fused weapons and the fused metals provide a solid clue.

Remember the flame legion are very beaten back and rather primitive compared to the other 3 legions. They rely on magic mostly and need to steal materials or weapons in most events and encounters in Charr lands when we face them. Forming their so called “lore breaking” Alliance with dredge and Scarlet actually gave them the best chance at getting back at the other legions as now they have new metals to work with.

I play the game and still do. I come on here (on down time when noting left to do) to voice the opinions of those that don’t come on here and that voice is the disdain towards the constant hate spewed towards devs and us that actually like things in this game as well as don’t like certain things and know its not polite to say “I don’t like this I hate this!” nonsense without an ounce of logical suggestions or constructive criticism.

Every one of my threads was a well constructed form my ire to this foul “so-called community/majority” with also a logical coherent and constructive discussion thrown in to try to find common ground or solutions to make everyone happy. Then it all gets ignored by the single-minded hate spew and I’m back to square one. You;ll see most of my posts did get ignored by these forum goers.

I know a lot of people feel like I do. I act because I care. If I didn’t care, I may not even be on here and possibly be like, “Its all going to kitten anyways, I’m done with the game so I’ll just leave quietly.” Type of crowd.

Wow, he’s still rejecting all the advice? Give him an award.

Seriously, grow a pair and get going.

^This.

I am honestly amazed that so many are trying to help get finished with the WvW part of the achievement and he is ignoring that fact. It’s part of the achievement. Lamenting that fact will not change it. I’m not a WvW player either, but I knew getting these places was part of getting my legendary, so I just sucked it up and did it. Complaining would not have helped me.

It really does make my head hurt when I see his comments now. I’m almost suspecting he’s doing this on purpose. I don’t know what WvW he’s experienced, but a free for all? Really? It’s not a free for all. It’s your server against two other servers.

I think he honestly imagines WvWvW is some giant arena where everyone is a red name and everyone is constantly killing each other and they stand on POIs just waiting for nubs to come by so they can gank them. It’s not like that. Not like that in the slightest. There is absolutely no trolling (except possibly in the JP but that’s a separate instance completely now and isn’t needed for the 100% completion). Especially on a server like Blackgate and those that would be up against them. Those servers, which I imagine is like Fort Aspenwood (which I’m on and #1 Silver league wooo), are more interested in actual WvW strategy and not trolling some carebear nervously trying to explore the zone.

More often than not when I see a solo player running and he sees me, we typically just ignore each other, maybe wave in passing. People are a lot more respectable than you know. If you are alone and see a group of enemies, then just run away from them, or you know, be OK with dying in a game that has very little death penalty.

Clearly OP has had some bad experiences in other games’ PvP. GW2 doesnt work like that. You don’t have twinks, you don’t have gankers, it’s just plain fun. And safe.

I hardly have anyone really stop and wave for me, but lately I’ve been getting the kittens especially in EB.

Its you get some and give some. You take what you given and you give back usually in bigger numbers of pain if you can. You live with it and move on. It took me six tries to get the krait skill point in EB. As same zerg (usually BG or SOS) would kill all on sight. Its not all kittens and rainbows as you say. There are gankers, and they usually hang in the big zergs, not solo. The OP is right in a way, but its not every single player in GW 2 that WVW.

If only we could talk to them (even with /me). “Hi I’m just mapping please let me live and run on by.” soon enough: “AGGGGH! MY SPLEEN AND INTESTINES ARE HANGING OUT! I”M DYING! NOOOO!" Yeah that feature might not work now that I think of it.

Other method I thought of (and used on my ele for her 100%) is to make a one man guild called Only a Mapper [MAP] and see how far that gets you. You may become a free kill red flag to everyone!

Solutions to this OP:

Its possible to add an enemy (click them and then go to party manual add) to your party and explain to them what you’re doing (though they have to agree to join first). I did it twice before. He still mistakenly killed me and said, “Opps. I’ll help you get the Vista/Poi in my territory.” As many wvw’ers too are trying yo get map completions as well.

There was a guy near a blue camp as we were red ( the one with the harpy event and vista), and I had to get the camp’s poi, but none of us will take it. The lone enemy guy was guarding it. I partied him and told him, "I just need the poi I’m not attacking you nor the capture point I’ll just die or you can get a free kill if you so desire after I’m done its for 100% here. He agreed, but I died to the camp vets.)

Anet needs to allow talking to enemies and use of /me to get points across. Who cares if it can be used for trolling or spying. The game mode is fail already.

Or allow us to get pois just by going to the doors Anet.

Also If you are Blackgate I’m TC and always will be. You see me complaining much? I’m in your shoes… you need to add me pm me in WvW when we match up, and manually! Friend list only allows you to report for bad WVW behaviors. Then I can add you as an enemy and we can go do the pois/vista’s skill points you need; I can tell all my TC not to kill you as you will be following me but we can still hurt each other so you have to be careful.

Does lore matter?

in Lore

Posted by: Yumiko Ishida.3769

Yumiko Ishida.3769

I seem to be the only one that loves Scarlet. I explained why in many other threads, so I won’t do it here. I even understand more about what is going on then most of you; much to on the level of Konig here. I seriously think too many here have their heads in the sand and too human centrist on lore and are not really paying attention to the deep hidden nature of the storytelling in the game.

She doesn’t need to be retconned she needs to stay until a conclusion and people need to see that GW 2 is not about gods or anything in GW1 that was human-centric only. Its 250 years later people! Its not about humans anymore as much as you want it to be!

New enemies, new foes (ugh dragons cliche sucks imo) things I always wanted in GW 1 to happen: your enemies that seemed just mindless monsters (dredge/grawl/charr/krait/etc) are given a voice and roles in the world as much as or on par to us humans. They have their own agendas and actual societies different than our own.

Saying scarlet ruins the lore is to say all of gw 2, as a whole, ruined gw 1 lore with that sort of poisonous thinking going on here. As in the eyes of most players here, everything would be still humans and their gods and their enemies as mindless things to kill. Seems too many are still clinging on to Guild wars 1 of old.

The game devs should stick to its guns not listen to us at all (as we hardly know what we are talking about) and then focus on great lore options as follows, while building on holes in lore for the past 250 years that are relevant to now:

Mursaat, White Mantle, the mists and corruption in the human government.

This will be a win win for most players as it opens up Janthir and Maguuma and also gets us closer to Mordremoth. It also expands on living story for humans and helps rpers like me as my own RP is all based on WM/Mursaat

More Canthan based releases: even if its not the continent have more references to the lands and its culture and its people. We only had Majory and a captain’s counsel member in LA (wasn’t he killed by Mai Trinn, another Canthan?), and a few ascended and exotic items/weapons.

Eotn areas and what happened to them after Jormag’s rise.

Water areas and more ice and snow stuff. What more can be said?

Ring of fire:

Maybe we can see Mursaat fighting destroyers? Maybe make Mursaat have a good faction that split from Lazurus? As a sort of fall from grace as an ancient race redemption sort of thing?

Exactly! I knew this was coming and I knew everyone would blow it for everyone.

I guess its time for me to learn to program and make my own game one where it be balanced, player friendly, no barriers to entry on any content, optional grind, gear that is available to all and nothing exclusive to a class or race yet full of unique skins.

And I quote from the other thread that was asked to be locked (for no reason rather than the Op thinking it was a bad idea):

Orpheal.8263: "Theres no best solution in this case.
Regardless of what Anet does now, one side will be always kittened up.
Be it the minority of the community, which likes the armors and has absolutely no problems with them whcih also even would go so far to say like me, that GW2 should have never have had any cultural armors at all to let the game be truly all about fashion, what Anet always has stated…
Or be it the vast majority of QQing selfish egos, which either can’t stand the fact, that some minority can buy their super duper ultra extraordinaly special T3 in an animated version with a basical cheaper price…

Or due to them being so smallminded, so that they think in so outdated ways regarding to a game like GW2, that it must have cultural armors (when it absolutely must not) to be unique/innovative – what leads directly to a contradiction in itself at the same move logically, because of Anet’s statement, that GW2 should be completely all about fashion, where putting racial restrictions to any equipment in the game, aside from everything, that is personal story related and bonded to the specific character, just makes ZERO SENSE at all!"

I also quote myself:

“I agree this game should not be like other MMOs if they (the company) originally said they wouldn’t. (remember the manifesto?) That includes exclusive or limited time gear.
The cultural gear should have never existed in the first place PERIOD! No exclusive gear in GW 2 should have been made ever!

So after everyone complained with every LS release that the skin you get for the achievements was exclusive and not sell-able and people that don’t play will never get it again.

Then people start complaining about this armor set to get anet to agree to remove it?

I do not get anyone here really! I wanted cultural armors to be non-exclusive as much as everyone here wanted the living story skins to be not exlusive.

There is clearly a big disconnect as to what players want and don’t want on here.

Just another reason for not liking the game … and I have very few compared to others here. Also I’m still playing.
