Stealth becomes extremely powerful against players when said players rely on their skills more than their skill.
If anet brought every profession up to the warrior’s level, nobody would be kittening about warriors.
Stealth isn’t OP because players with some experience and common sense can shut down anyone who uses it.

The Mesmer Collective WANTS you to THINK they exist as a form of reverse psychology so you actually believe they don’t exist when they do!!!!

No, because half of them would be rainbow explosions. I would rather not have more rainbows crap up my screen and more reminders from people the they got X legendary.
If anything I would like the option to toggle legendary weapon effects off before legendaries get more tools to garner attention.
(edited by Zacchary.6183)
The only Legendary about these weapons are they grinding time,nothing more nothing less.
and I just say I got more fans with this armor/weapon/shield than many others with full Ascended and 2-3 Legendaries.
When I look at that I think, “Tonight… we dine IN HELL!”.
Good job dude!
Thief vs Warrior race
/thread
and the thief wasnt even using signet of shadows, even though they both didn’t dodge, the thief has endurance refill when dodge, swiftness, vigor on heal, etc. (if traited purely for racing)
The warrior could have used a few banners and charged with them. They have like 4 of them.

I would love this too. It would increase options for armor/weapon getups.

Warrior greatsword units per second is 105 when used on recharge
Thief Heartseeker units per second is 150 with base initiative regenBoth profs can easily maintain a +25% movespeed buff too with either a trait, utility, or runeset, so no difference there.
Thief also has shortbow, which is also 150 units per second (can’t be impacted by move speed) and can allow them to traverse vertical terrains with pathing.
Numberes don’t lie, 150 from thief > 105 from warrior, move speed buffs impact skills from both profs.
*Pretty sure while it’s up though, Fiery Greatsword Provides the best mobility in the game.
You forgot to add in the banner swiftness and charge.
If you’re only building for mobility and nothing else thief still wins. (Perma swiftness + initiative Regen rate of 1.566 per second when optimized for more heartseeker , withdraw and roll for initiative forward, shadowstep.) I’ll do the math later today, but if I recall correctly it’s over 300 units per second.
In terms of mobility on viable combat builds thief also wins.
If you are using non-weapons skills that are not giving you initiative upon use then you’ll never achieve that regen rate. The easiest way to get that ini regen is to use SoM with Signet Use and Hastened Replenishment. Although you can keep a high swiftness uptime on a thief, you’ll be sacrificing some things to do so.
A warrior can more easily maintain swiftness uptime through banners (specifically Battle Standard and inspire) and boon duration alone. And they have access to plenty of charge attacks so if they are not the fastest ooc they can definitely keep up.
It would have been easier and more cost effective for them if they left the content. They wouldn’t have to use manpower to put it back in the game then.

I’ve gone to far personally to turn back now Im close to completing my final gift mastery and just need to karma farm the rest of the shards for it. And Get Dusk which I am not looking forward to grinding gold for the next 3 years to aquire but I feel at this point if I don’t finish it I’ve wasted my time so if your gonna start making one then I suggest finishing it. It wouldn’t be so horrible if pre’s didnt have a zero % drop rate but it just seems to me some people get tons of them and I wonder if the RNG like Flags accounts or something.
Ive always wondered that too. Whether or not its real, though, it is a good tactic to do nonetheless.
Having a handful of accounts that get precursors regularly will eventually make them craft Legendaries to put on the market along side their excess precursors. Then everyone else can have horrible luck trying to get them as a drop (which will never happen in their life). This will make it more likely for people to spend money on gems in order to obtain them. It sucks. :I
That is one small aspect. I am talking about ALL of them. Your idea needs to wait until combat is straightened out.
WTB a thumb down button.
Nope. Not until combat is balanced as a whole.
I love how people biasly say thief when Ross Biddle just posted [/thread].
Best: The music.
Worst: The community.
Anti-Golem mine has good potential, although the cost to make one should be extremely high given it could take out multiple golems at once and the cost for each golem.
Napalm mine is a bit too similar to Burning Oil, I think.
That’s the point lol
FYI I also have a mesmer, warrior and guard at 80. I also am working on a Ranger and necro. So this “plays only thief” assumption is just a byproduct of you getting mad at me in the past. I’ve moved on and so should you.
On Topic: I would like to see an Anti-Golem Mine that explodes and disables them for 10s.
Another is for anti-zerg purposes which I would like to call a Napalm Mine. Basically when 5-10 people enter its radius, it explodes and generates a field that damages them every second and causes burning. Great for defending doors.
A skill trap. When triggered, it increases the skill level of bad players by 200%.
I normally go 20-30 minutes early and then organize it myself. That’s the key.
while at it, let us know which map is good too so we can select it and not be place on the bad maps.
Lel, maps are as bad as you make them. But go ahead and waste your time finding a taxi. I am going to enjoy my flawless PuGs at teq.

Players need to learn other professions first before they complain about them. Like seriously.
Thief in combat.
Warrior out of combat.
Congratulations you found the source. The one you killed was just a copy.
higher coefficient for duel wielding daggers too then? :P it’s only fair! sob
Lel no. Then baddies would die faster. We can’t have that now can we? :P
Guys play this game too you know. It isn’t like this whole game needs to be made of rainbows.
I like this guy’s idea better.
Way more unique than what we have now and with the PLs being ABoA your achievement shows since you simply cannot just buy one of them off the TP.
What if it was (.6) with no bleeds instead?
Sizer is using someone else’s build during a time where it is most effective.
Sizer isn’t that great. He just used the right build at the right time.
Vital Shot’s Coefficient gets boosted to (.7) when another pistol is equipped. This will bring it on par with Sword AA damage.
Discuss.

L2P and get better comments are not welcome.
Alright then…
Working as intended.
There ya go.
Yes, well maybe you need to pay attention to a phrase in Job-O-Tron’s Journey: The Evolution of a Gag a little more closely.
Job-o-Tron’s saving grace (if such a thing exists) is the dénouement to its arc, when it sinks in that since the settlers have been released from the terms of their oppressive residency contracts, Job-o-Tron itself is now out of work. In a bitter piece of poetic justice, it realizes that it is now the sort of individual it was created and programmed to abuse. This proves too much for the series of magi-technical synapses that approximates its brain, and it has a bit of a breakdown. Depressed but ultimately accepting its sad lot in life, Hobo-Tron embraces its downward spiral, equips itself with the appropriate accoutrements, and sets out to wander the globe in search of a new purpose and a new source of income.
Do you really think he was programmed to “breakdown” in the event of situational reversal? That Noll in his ever potent arrogance program self-preservation algorithms. No. Subdirector Noll is an entitled kitten and would deem it much more cost-effective to simply replace Job-O-Tron in the unfortunate event of Refugee retaliation against the golem. JoT was just a tool to Noll.
Secondly, the conflict in his processing would have caused a fatal error and shut him down instead of evolve into a growing AI like it did.
Meta = Illusion you say?
Well Illusions = Mesmers
MESMERS ARE THE META
For the record, the one on the GW2 wiki doesn’t use parenthesis except to distinguish where the numbers come from. And it doesn’t use them aside from that because using parenthesis in a simple equation such as damage calculation only serves to overcomplicate it.
That doesn’t mean I don’t understand where you are coming from. If there was addition and subtraction added to damage calculation then I would most definitely use parenthesis and unambiguous formulae. But that isn’t the case here.
Just a small guide to show everyone how to build a nice and organized post when posing additional weapon ideas for your profession. These guidelines are something I use whenever I post my ideas for weapon skills and I only hope that it makes it easier for players (and devs) to analyze and determine the effectiveness of the suggested skills. So without further adieu, I give you the guidelines:
1.) The Skill Template!
When posting individual skills, I always organize them by lists. Usually I have lists inside lists whenever I have a complex skill to post but they usually look like this:
1.) Skill name CD Cost (or initiative)
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
For specific types of skills, I use these templates:
1.) Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
—> Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
—> Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1<situation A>.) Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1<situation B>.) Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1<situation C>.) Skill name
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1a.) Skill name Cost
Flavor text. Turns into <skill 1b>.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1b.) Skill name Cost
Flavor text. Turns into <skill 1c>.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
1c.) Skill name Cost
Flavor text.
Cooldown:
<insert other tooltips here>
And be sure you list them in numerical order.
2.) The Maffs! (No! Please, not that!)
By all means, spam /supermegasadface:c emotes because in order to make your topic look good you need to make sure the math to each skill is spot on. So break out your calculator and get to calculating!
First off you need to post a formula that your ideas will be based off of, but more importantly follow the damage formula. This will standardize your set so you aren’t blindly posting random bullkitten numbers cuz yolo. For my topic, I used the formula:
2000 Power * 1265 Maximum Rifle Weapon Strength/2597 Heavy Golem Armor Rating * Skill Coefficient
Next, I give each skill a Skill Coefficient and then plug the numbers into the formula that I am using to produce my damage. Be sure you round the damage to the nearest 1. It should look like this:
Damage calculated = 2000 * 1000/ 2597 * skill coefficient
2.) Falcon Pawnch 5s CD
Punch an enemy in the face causing their soul to implode.
Damage: 53138 (69)
BUT WAIT! WHY YOU NO FOLLOW FORMULA EXACTLY?!
Because multiplication and division work together like addition and subtraction, so A*B*C/D is going to produce the same answer as A/D*B*C. However to get the correct damage, the armor rating has to be the only denominator in the formula. I like to mix the coefficient with the damage multipliers whenever I decide apply them.
Anyway…
3.) The Details!
I can’t stress this one enough. Construct every skill by making every part look categorized. The name should be on top and noticable. The tooltips need to be distinguished from the variables but not so much it becomes part of the general list above it. Take for example:
1stealth) Bullet to the Knee
End their adventuring days with a high caliber bullet to their kneecap.
Damage: 536 (.55)
Range: 1200
Cripple: 8s
The situation is part of the name and number and it is bold to
Basically the further into detail you get the less you should use to categorize each detail. Makes it look nice and organized.
Another thing I do is use a triple dash to separate my skills. Doing – - – 2 lines down from the last occupied line will draw a line across the post and effectively organize individual skills.
4.) Updating!
Finally tweak, update, advertise and keep your thread afloat if you notice there is support for it, whether it is potential support or not. Just make it look good and not entirely overpowered and people will give you your thumbs. Even if it looks overpowered, the only thing that really matters is getting the concept through. Anet can nerf it to oblivion later.
Otherwise, let it die. Simple.
Well thanks for reading! I hope the forums see more great weapon ideas from this. Happy posting!
The magic number is 40%.
Give Necros a greatsword.
Greatsword attack animation is the hammer animation.
Swinging causes the greatword to be engulfed by dark flames and produce a scythe visage like when using Staff.
Now if a necro could make up some skills.
EDIT: Just to clarify.
My build is all power toughness vitality with a bit of precision. I have 29k health and 3.6 toughness, 1.8k shout heal……. 70% critical chance
This killed it.
(edited by Zacchary.6183)
Uuuh no it won’t. It won’t teach players a kitten thing. Simply watching and copying an overglorified celeb’s build will only lead to a new player’s disappointment simply because it isn’t the profession or the build that is carrying the player. Thief builds don’t do kitten unless the player using it knows what they are doing.
By the way, Yishis is a better choice for teaching newbs how to play the profession because he actually provides commentary for his encounters instead of blast generic tracks while he is ganking people like everyone else. Even then, you’de have to watch his vids multiple times and then meditate on them for a minute to so much as get a basic understanding.
But there is nothing in this game that will teach a player how to play a profession better than first hand experience.
Watch people like sizer on twitch
Watching youtube twitch* thieves kill bad players is not going to teach newbs anything.
The only tried and true method of learning this profession is learning the profession through PvE and then get a PvPing friend to duel you in sPvP. Then you both can go into WvW and get some kills in.
(edited by Zacchary.6183)
So recently, about two to three months ago, I rolled a Thief for the first time because I wanted to learn all the classes better. From day one its been an absolute blast. I’ve always been a sucker for rogues but I feel like Kirby with Steal. And Steal as a mechanic, as basic as it seems, has been a LOT of fun for me. Almost moreso then Mesmer. (Almost). So I wanted to know, what makes a Thief a good one? I win a good amount of games and fights. (Not all though.) but I always seem to be aimlessly wandering around, or camping far.
TL;DR What is my job exactly as a Thief? I know Im supposed to be a “Roamer” but the term’s meaning isn’t very clear to me.
You are supposed to be a free kill, but anet doesn’t want to break a profession so we can’t even be that.
I have Updated drill shot to display the correct damage per formula.
It’s guys like this that make me miss Columba and Burnfall. Moreso Burnfall. His posts were always a treat.
I am under the firm impression that Sanduskel is banned from the forums for kittening off so many players.
I do not miss him. :P
Maybe this is an Alt acc???
….. oh… my… kittening… god.
