Just buy a total makeover kit and choose the biggest hands possible, problem solved.
I’m sure this isn’t a serious reply, since this suggestion isn’t possible. Even if you mean making your whole character larger, weapons & bundles scale to character size anyway.
Knowing Wanze, this is a completely serious reply…and the problem isn’t hand placement, it’s that the hilts themselves are to long from the guard…shorten the hilts and the problem is solved.
Hello,
Actually in Canada for some weeks now, I have question about plan internet. I’m from France and we don’t really have internet limit. Generally I let Guild Wars open all day. I will have a plan with 350go by month at electronicbox. I wanted to know if it was enough, I will stop to let it open all day. I just want to know if it’s enough for play like 35hours by week.
Thank you for answer
.
Downloading client will take around 20GB space, so that you will need to take into account.
Nobody here know how large future updates and patches will be, so that is the only thing that might be eating up a large chunk from your dataplan of 350 GB each month. Playing the game by should probably not need that much bandwidth, but to be safe turn off auto log in from client (the first thing you will see when you start your client; same as where you have your account information) and manually log into your account from client. Also close game completely (close also page where you select char), so it will not make use of your dataplan when you are not playing or doing anything in game.
Make use of some kind of tracking application for how much data you are using the first time, so you will know what is normal usage for each application (including updating of these).
That is entirely unnecessary as GW2 doesn’t use any bandwith when it’s just sitting there idle unless you have the new streaming function sent to max. Still though, the log-in screen and character screens do absolutely nothing unless acted upon, you could in essence leave them open 24/7 and never, ever come close to reaching the plan limit. I have a 250gb DL limit per month…and I’ve yet to even hit 20% of that amount, even if I’ve watched streaming and downloaded a dozen new games from Steam…all with GW2 open in the background.
He has 350gb per month allocated, 20gb isn’t even 10% of that amount…he’s got nothing to worry about.
It could also be a matter of convenience and necessity, perhaps there just aren’t that many people visiting the Dungeon Merchant any more and quite a few more people visiting the BLTC weapon merchants(not saying that’s true, just saying it could be one of the reasons for the change, other than simplicity’s sake).
What everyone is missing from the OP’s post is that he’s heading towards a type of trinity style of play…which is against what GW2 was designed for. Remember, all classes are supposed to be self-sufficient…that was and is the design choice, if you’re not happy with it, then perhaps……(you should be able to answer this yourself).
There’s a lot that will happen in the live environment with 100,000’s of players that is impossible to duplicate in any testing environment, even if you use a simulation of 100,000’s of players. That’s were the disconnect comes from between the community and developers/programmers thinking like you did, ‘did they not test for that?’. Also, real players will often try and do things that no testing person has even thought of, even those testers that are players, that’s how things get by the devs, and believe me, the always ask testers to try and break any new content or designs that they may be working on, and testers do try. It’s just not possible to test for every single contingency that might arise, even ones that would appear to be ‘no brainers’.
For every player that wants difficult content or challenges, there’s another 100 that want to just play casually(and of those 100, probably 50% will be dedicated casual players)…which market would you go after?
i would like to see your metrics and statistics please.
if there weren’t enough players who want difficult content and challenges, Anet wouldn’t have announced it for the expansion.
so obviously you are wrong.
Challenging and difficult are two entirely different things, A.net announce challenging group content for HoT, they haven’t said it would be difficult, though you could consider difficult/challenging interchangeable, technically they’re not. You can make challenging content that isn’t difficult(I know, it sounds like an oxymoron), yes, difficult is related to challenging, but not a synonym.
Still, my statement will not change, I’d rather market to the 100 casual players(as in those that play when they feel like it) vs the 1 that is hardcore, aka, give me the 1 billion sized market of FB over the 10 mil sized market of WoW…that’s the point I was trying to make…those are casual players.
Under the current OP posting it is impossible to reply with any modicum of thought…presuming your a mature adult, though it’s somewhat difficult to tell from your post about being a vet, father, husband, etc., etc., learn to compromise…wait, better still, it is imperative of everyone that they continue to do the same things that made them happy before any changes in lifestyle, otherwise you will become miserable and resent those others in your life…this has been proven many times by numerous studies.
For every player that wants difficult content or challenges, there’s another 100 that want to just play casually(and of those 100, probably 50% will be dedicated casual players)…which market would you go after?
For those that have ideas about Season 1, what hasn’t been stated yet by Bobby is that those were done as Live releases in the open world on a temporary basis. In other words, the content was in the open world for a limited time, then removed…at this point, they would need to reconstruct some of it and change others(the large scale fights) to suit a more personal story like instance. That’s the secondary reason it hasn’t been re-released as of yet, the primary reason is the focus on HoT.
Everyone is aware that those boxes are there intentionally and working as intended, right? They’ve been there since the beginning, and there’s a reason they’re there, it’s so people can range attack the boss…but you CAN NOT just spam 1, you must use all of your skills…it’s not rocket science, but then again, perhaps it is, maybe that’s why there’s a problem now. It certainly isn’t the 100% HP increase(which is what doubling is, it’s a 100% increase, not 200% as someone above said…i.e. 100% of 10 is 10, 200% of 10 is 20, if the HP was originally 10, now it’s 20…hence, doubled or 100% increase).
I’ve noticed the big difference in this discussion is that some are talking about open world and some are talking about dungeons…two different parts of the game, but both PvE and both work slightly differently: i.e…some people have problems with it and some don’t…seems typical of almost everything, not going to please everyone.
The word Entitled does not necessarily equal ‘free’, all it means is that you feel you should to more than is being offered by ‘x’ because you’ve been around since the beginning of time and it’s your right…that’s what entitlement refers to. No one, and I mean no one, is entitled to anything other than what everyone else is able to buy…whether or not you choose to purchase what is being offered is your choice. Besides, there is almost never any negotiating between consumers and producers, the producers set the price and the consumers either buy or leave it…simple as that, and everyone has that choice now.
Oh, and just to be sure you know the truth:
en·ti·tle·ment
in?t?dlm?nt,en?t?dlm?nt/
noun
the fact of having a right to something.
“full entitlement to fees and maintenance should be offered”
synonyms: right, prerogative, claim; More
the amount to which a person has a right.
“annual leave entitlement”
synonyms: right, prerogative, claim; More
the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.
“no wonder your kids have a sense of entitlement”
In addition, as I’ve stated before, the Standard version of HoT is for NEW players, the Deluxe and Ultimate editions are designed for those that already own GW2, aka, veterans…if you couldn’t grasp that concept from the beginning, there is no hope for mankind. Then, after some amount of time after HoT has been on the market and people have played through it, the Living World/Living Stories will start up again, and of course those will be free updates just like they were before, during the 2 week window, or what ever they decide the new release schedule will be. So in reality that $50 price tag for HoT is getting you not only HoT + the base game, but also the next 2 or 3 seasons of Living Story…now tell me that price isn’t worth it?
(edited by Zaklex.6308)
I’m not a lawyer, but I have worked in retail and I do know that advertising posters and such in retail are not required to show the full Terms & Conditions on an advertising/marketing poster, only during when purchase is being made.
This is not about them not giving you the full picture.
What they describe is different from what you buy. This is false advertising. There’s a misleading statement like “A game serial code for account creation or upgrade for the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion and the award winning Guild Wars 2 core game.”
This could either means 2 separate codes, or 1 code for both.
Actually, if you understood the American language(not English) and read that properly, then you would know that it’s one code, that includes both…i.e., it’s either an account upgrade to HoT if you already have the base game or a completely new game that includes the core game and HoT. That’s how I read it to begin with, it’s not my problem if most people don’t have good reading comprehension skills.
Lost in all this shuffle is a point that absolutely no one is bringing up—there is no release date. None. So no one knows what their $50 is actually buying… but that obscured overall picture is much, much clearer for players who don’t have an account already.
This is actually why I refuse the pre-purchase.
It’s not really the cost.
It’s the fact that I have no idea what I’m buying. We have had ZERO content reveal since January. We already knew of Verdant Brink and a little bit of the story then. That’s what we know now.
How many maps do we get?
How long is the story?
How many events per map?
How many achievements? It has been six months since the last content update. It has been six months since the last content reveal for what is guaranteed to be HoT-only.
Stronghold and Desert Borderlands we’ve seen additional of. But that’s likely to not be HoT-only, especially the later.
So I’m paying for a full unknown content-wise.
I know some features. Guild halls – something that, like Stronghold, was part of GW1 from the beginning and is a complete baffle why it wasn’t so with GW2 – and revenant, new elite specializations (aka new trait lines that do more than old trait lines). That’s nice. That’s great. But twice we’ve gotten feature packs, and they’ve been free. So what makes this one worth $50?
To be worth $50, to me, it would have to be the size of GW2’s core game, give or take. Because the core game was $60 and gave access to not only PvE but also WvW and PvP. HoT is just PvE with some PvP/WvW being release alongside (I cannot see them restricting players who don’t own HoT out of the borderlands; I cannot see them restricting players out of Stronghold with the current system).
So where’s the $50 worth of content Anet? Please, show me. Do that, and I’ll buy the game.
You’re the salesman Anet, so make me want the game.
I’m tired of this content crap from everyone…it’s not that hard to figure out how much content map wise we’re getting from this…and they even gave more of a hint in todays blog post telling us one of the locations where you’ll be able to obtain a Guild Hall from, which is an entire map in of itself. We know one map is Verdant Brink, we knot that Mordremoth is presumed to be in Magus Falls, and from the trailer that certainly looked like ocean in the distance. Taking out the GW2 world map and juxtaposing Verdant Brink near SW and DT, then going west to Magus Falls and north to the edge of the Magumma Waste…perhaps as far south as Rata Sum. Hell, let’s be generous and just say HoT is going to encompass the entire remaining uncovered jungle between SW/DT, Rata Sum, Maguuma Wastes and The Undending Ocean…then take the 3 biomes from each zone and lay them out flat side by side(so you can do an equal comparison to the core game). Now try and tell me the expansion content won’t be worth $50…and even if it doesn’t cover that whole area, you still need to take each zones biomes and lay them down on a flat surface side by side to compare the amount of land content to the core game(which has hardly any verticality in it).
Here’ something that everyone should take into consideration when they are trying to determine the size of HoT in terms of the maps. Remember that each map consists of 3 biomes, the canopy, floor and under the roots. In order to properly compare the size of the expansion vs existing content it is necessary to take those 3 biomes per map and lay them flat on the surface of Tyria next to each other. By stacking the 3 biomes you are effectively getting 3 times the amount of space in one HoT zone vs a core zone. So you really need to multiply the mass of the HoT map by 3 to determine the equivalent core map mass. Argue against this all you want, but it’s a simple fact that when you go vertical and have levels instead of one giant flat surface the actual field of passable terrain is triple a flat map…and if you want to have a current core zone that reflects this…go look at The Grove.
HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Zaklex.6308
Compare the price of this expansion to every WoW expansion, which has either been $39.99 at release or $49.99 at release for the last few…and those DO NOT include the base game…it’s a bargain, but most of the people don’t seem to get it. The expansion costs $49.99 and the base game is included FREE, the standard version is ideal for those that have never played GW2, the Deluxe and Ultimate versions are directed at those that already own the game.
What, you don’t like greenery growing around your Guild Hall?
Well, if they follow anything like they did with GW1 guild halls, there will be more than one to pick.
Myself think we will only have one choice in HoT, and that additionnal Guild Hall themes will be sold in the cash shop.
They already have shown more than one choice in Guild Halls…just go back to the HoT PAXSouth announcement.
I think it’s a bug somewhere in the spawning code for nodes, as I once ran across the farm node right outside Beetletun not being harvestable(or even on the mini-map) and the nodes where only partially spawned on the map itself, like they only spawned half-way then bugged out.
There’s just one problem with the baby Karka idea…there’s no way in hell the Consortium is getting the amount of lumber needed for the rebuilding of L.A. from Southsun Cove, unless of course they’re constructing the pieces there and then flying them to L.A., that would work, but for the life of me why the hell would you transport lumber to Southsun, build the pre-made structures then fly them all the way back to L.A. for the job…and no, this is isn’t completely sarcasm, some, yes, but not completely. I just like to throw out the obvious reason why it doesn’t work, but then again, it’s ArenaNets game and they can do what they want with it…even if it doesn’t quite fit what the players already know(of course, the lumber could be coming from some other formerly Karka infested location that we don’t know about…then this whole comment is moot).
Keep feeding it, I already got 2 items from mine worth over 1g each, and that was only after about 7 days of feedings…haven’t fed it in a few weeks as I used up my excess dust already(same with stars).
I’ll specifically refer to Dragon Bash first…when was the last time we killed an Elder Dragon and celebrated it? Yes, there have been new players to join the game since the first time, but not that many that it’s needed to hold another Dragon Bash(the reason for the first one was to celebrate the fall of Zhaitan). Second, there have been many changes to the game since the first time it was out, perhaps some of those changes have made it so that they would need to rework the event so that it works with any new systems/changes made in the interim.
SAB, Colin has said it before, those that don’t care have said…it will be back, when it’s appropriate, those that spend the coin in the cash shop for the permanent key will get access…at some point in the future, when the time is right. That time is not now.
How odd, I don’t find it hard to do the daily zone event completions on any map with my main, but perhaps that’s because I always turn my Content Guide on when doing this particular daily(Disable Personal Story), and then I just go to what ever event happens to be nearby. If it finishes before I reach it, just go to the next one, as well as hop around to those select areas that I know have repeatable events. It’s not that annoying, I just use the time running around to gather materials along the way.
No, no, no…the release date is sometime between now and then…aka anytime between tomorrow and whenever.
Just read this again, and again, and again until you can comprehend it…this answers the question about skill points, from today’s blog on the updated wallet:
“What about Skill Points?
Previously, we told you that endless sources of skill points will reward a different currency instead. The new wallet will house the new currency, spirit shards.
Currently, there are two sources of skill points. The first are limited sources, such as skill-point challenges and the level-up guide. The second are endlessly repeatable, such as scrolls of knowledge and leveling up after 80. Skill points also had two uses: unlocking skills, and buying materials for the Mystic Forge.
What we had were two systems that should have been using two different currencies, and now they do. Every source that used to give scrolls of knowledge will now give spirit shards, which Miyani will accept for her materials. A few things will change to accommodate this split:
Tomes of knowledge will level you up if you are under level 80 and give one spirit shard if you’ve reached level 80.
Writs of experience can only be used if you’re under level 80, and they can be traded in to Miyani for a tome of knowledge at a rate of 20 writs per tome.
Leveling up after level 80 no longer grants skill points, but level 80 characters will be able to loot spirit shards off of monsters.
Any scrolls of knowledge that you have in your possession will automatically be converted to spirit shards, and any source that used to award scrolls of knowledge will now grant spirit shards.
The conversion of skill points to spirit shards will be automatic. This will happen on a per?character basis, so make sure to log in on each character to receive your total count! I think you’ll be surprised at just how many spirit shards you have."
Yeah great patch, this streaming client works great, Awesome job, I get to log in and play faster and it only takes me twice as long to load up a map. Getting way more play time.
If it’s taking you twice as long to load a map now, then you have issues.
I’m going to throw another thing out there that I think everyone is either ignoring or forgetting…and this is in regards to “casual” players. Where are the two biggest places that currently draw the largest amount of “casual” players… FB and mobile games. Compare the size of that “casual” market to the current “casual” market that plays MMO’s, that is the market I believe ArenaNet is looking at…the 10’s of millions that play games like Farmville and Candy Crush Saga, etc.. Most of the people don’t even consider themselves casual gamers, but that is exactly what they are, and they tend to spend real $$ on the games they do play. If any company could ever lure 10% of that group to play an online MMORPG, WoW would look like a pea next to a pear in terms of players base…but that’s just my opinion.
Both.
Lets just ignore the severely and unrealistically skewed in favour of open world example you gave.
Id say a more accurate guess would be 10% sPvP, 25% WvW, 15% instanced PvE and 50% open world. Even thats kind of generous.
Reread my post again, I specifically stated my hypothetical game is PvE only, there is no sPvP or WvW, therefore my percentages are more accurate than you would care to believe(they are also based somewhat on reality, from a old post about WoW’s community breakdown). Also, from a purely business perspective, anyone that is of sound mind would concentrate on the 90% market and dismiss the 10%, let the smaller percentage go elsewhere and don’t waste resources on them.
You all keep arguing for and against instanced content without throwing any number out there…well I’ll give you some hypothetical numbers to play with…and then tell me which group you’d make content for.
This is just hypothetical, and only applies to PvE, but let’s say you have an MMO, which only consists of PvE, no sPvP or WvW, with a million active players, now let’s divide those players up into subgroups: Open World PvE, Instanced PvE. Let us use the 90%/10% breakdown between Open World(90%) and Instanced(10%), and let’s further add in that of those that post on the forums, 90% are Instanced and 10% are Open World(the reverse of the actual game playing community). Now take your limited development budget and tell me which group of players you would design new content for?

First off, these “tests” are a bunch of BS, those aren’t real bosses, the tests need to be done on the world Bosses or Grand Events…nobody cares about the lesser boss events. This whole thread is tied into VW and other large scale World Boss events. Give me those number and then I’ll do the math myself, until then these “tests” are entirely worthless, especially since scaling works differently for everything.
As for our OP, short of hand holding everyone through an event that has never done it before and with sometimes insufficient time to explain how it works(which does no good if they new players don’t listen[quite common]). It then becomes much simpler to just have them WP out and run back…for a specific event, such as VW, you have 60 seconds from when each boss battle first starts to run back in if you die before the vines close it off. If you’ve died that quickly…you either weren’t paying attention or aren’t good enough to even be there in most cases(there are exceptions).
I don’t even like anyone Rezzing me when I’m downed…based on this, I have Downed skills, if I’m unable to revive myself, then I should have to WP out once dead and run back(I don’t know why anyone would walk back). DO NOT waste your time reviving me, continue to attack the Boss and defeat it…that is the purpose of the event more often than not anyways.
Also, it’s not my job to make sure you’re having fun, it’s your job to have fun…aka, not my responsibility…every man for himself!
Living Story will resume after HoT release, though I’m sure not right away…they already stated that the LS would continue, but not until after HoT.
I do love people that say “take a break, come back for xpac”
The great thing about gw2 was, i could do that and not pay to come back.
Now I’m gonna have to pay to come back? Why should I, when there are lots of f2p releases out there that can take my gemstore money.
Then when i’ve invested in another game, thats even less chance of me coming back to it..?You have a good point and I’ll add another. Games take lots of space on my SSD drive (31.5 gigs currently just for GW2). And if I grow bored of a game I generally delete it and move on to another game. I did this with LotRO, Champions Online etc and even though I have lifetime subs for those two I will most likely never re-install them.
If I get bored of GW2 I see no reason to keep it on my SDD. Even if the xpac grants me the ability to spew rainbows out my bottom, there is no way I’m downloading and installing it again when something else (newer) will have taken it’s place by then.
Really, that’s a reason, your SSD drive? Perhaps you should have a larger SSD drive, or just add a second one….that would actually make more sense, because then you could just keep the games on the drive and go back to them when ever you felt like it. But of course, potentially you’re not one of those gamers that ever goes back to a game they played a few years ago…when my Terrabyte SSD is near getting full(it’s only 2/3 full right now), then I’ll get a second…much simpler to just keep everything loaded and on the drive then have to re-download it as well as what ever additional content may have been released in the interim. Of course this is just a suggestion and not everyone would want to do that…but then again, there are some people still playing the original GW.
I’m going to presume this is only an issue in PvP and maybe WvW? By asking I’m not saying it’s something that shouldn’t be fixed or somehow alieviated…but don’t those nameplates show up anywhere you have something targeted, even PvE?
Why the hell would I upgrade from 7 to 10, free or not, when I have zero issues with 7…unless 10 is some kind of technical masterpiece…something Microsoft isn’t well known for.
Sooner or later you might learn the very important skill of selective hearing or how to tune out things that you just find repetitive and obnoxious, then you’ll no longer have to worry about what the characters say because you just won’t hear it anymore…or better yet, just listen to your own soundtrack that drowns out everything in game.
I cant’ believe running around pressing f on chest is the most interesting and fun way to play the game.
I think I’m getting too old for mmorpg.
Yeah, OP asked for the best and fastest way to “farm” obi shards. The SW chest farm is the best and fastest way to get them. No one said anything about it being the most interesting and fun way to play.
Technically the fastest way to “farm” Obi Shards is to earn Crests and buy them from the vendor, combined with doing the Chest farm…I was able to get a thousand in less than half a month via this route(and now have an additional 500 on top of that)…and I’ve spent a few besides, but really don’t have that much of a use for them so I now just destroy anything beyond the 1500 I currently have.
It’s odd, the first time this came up on the forums I didn’t even realize that it made sound, let alone any other mini’s…but then again I have selective hearing, if it’s something I don’t want to listen to, I just tune it out…or I just ignore it if it’s irrelevant…or listen to my own music which tends to drown out all GW2 sounds(including the music).
I highlighted your statement that negates your AFKer’s don’t scale events, what actually happens is the event first scales up based on the number of players present, then as some of those players do not contribute by either being AFK or dead…after a certain amount of time the event will then downscale. That’s how it actually works, therefore, AFKer’s do scale up events, except they will downscale after a certain amount of time…only we don’t know what that time frame is and events in places like SW aren’t very long, ranging from 3 – 5 minutes so potentially never downscale at all.
Even if this is true, since events are made to scale dynamically, it probably checks fairly often. I’d be surprised if it took anything more than 15-20 seconds, otherwise it really wouldn’t be very dynamic. However since I don’t have evidence on this I won’t try to prove it myself but I’m sure Anet know and scaled it in a way that AFK players aren’t being an issue (especially considering the amount of complain there has been about it in the past and how they remade the scaling system).
~Snip~
Perhaps so, but I can almost guarantee it’s more than 15 – 20 seconds, and the reasoning behind this is skill usage and the affects of lag…I’d put the laps between checks at anywhere from 45 -60 seconds…which is why it’s important for dead people to WP out, the game will notice them leaving the event area long before it will notice they’re no longer participating by staying dead on the ground in the event area(and some events with short duration’s, less than to 2 minutes, that if they stay the entire time the event never scales down).
Could be other factors scaling it up such as players from the zerg getting too close (after all the south turrets are fairly close to where the zerg fights at) or just the afk’ers not really being fully afk thus not counting as afk (in which case a afk kick timer wouldn’t get rid of them anyway).
It’s been stated by devs multiple times before that players who haven’t done anything for a certain amount of time are not contributing to event scaling.
I highlighted your statement that negates your AFKer’s don’t scale events, what actually happens is the event first scales up based on the number of players present, then as some of those players do not contribute by either being AFK or dead…after a certain amount of time the event will then downscale. Hylek are based and modeled after real life frogs. These frogs aren’t cartoony at all. The problem here is a lack of biological information, not a graphic style. One of the new races is modeled after tree frogs and the other is modeled after bull frogs. Both are well done from that perspective.
Tree frogs look more gangly than other frogs and have a bigger head.
Except that their tree frog-like features are exaggerated when compared to actual tree-frogs (a technique that is often used in cartoons, hence why it feels cartoony for some people), as has been correctly shown above.
The size ratio between head-body is quite off, as well as the limb-body size ratio. Although I am a biologist I’m no expert on animal body plans, but I expect that a real life tree frog with a body plan like that would have a lot of trouble moving around.
Actually, after looking at about 500+ images of different tree frogs(of which there are many hundreds of varieties if not more), I found at least 5 – 10 real life images of tree frogs that were height/weight proportioned to the Iztel in GW2…so it’s quite realistic for a creature to be shaped that way and live…now if it could live on 2 legs is a different story, but this is a fantasy world, so…
I’m a guild leader, I’m also practically the only one that still plays GW2, and that’s after taking a little over a year off to dabble in Second Life. I’ve been back for over a year and half…and I think everyone that posted here doesn’t get the reasoning behind the Multi-guild option, if you then you can ignore this, and the reason why 100% rep request is wrong and had for the health of the guild system as it is…if not, then read on.
This whole discussion is based on the premise that no guild you belong to requires 100% rep(which in my personal opinion is repulsive anyways). It’s quite simple really, and let’s look at it from the perspective of starting out and joining a guild that is comprised of your close friends you always game together with. You play with your friends exclusively for a while, let’s say you’re all just PvE players…but you try out WvW and want to play that more…only your friends don’t, but you still want to be in a guild with them, so you find a different guild that does WvW and join that one. Now you can still play with your friends when you feel like it, but also have the capability of joining your cohorts in WvW. If you’re intelligent enough, and I believe most of you are, extrapolate from here to include PvP, dungeons/fractals, or what ever group activity you want to do with certain people. That was and still is the whole reason behind the ability to join multiple guilds up to 5…would it be helped by having Alliances and Alliance chat, of course, does it dilute the importance of Guilds…not in the slightest, only if you let it. Patience is a virtue, and I believe the introduction of Guild Halls is a step in the problem that some of you see with Guild cohesion…for me, I’’ll stick with the two Guilds I belong to…one is from the days of Diablo, the other, well, you never talk about the fight club.

They missed a golden opportunity there…the other Charr should have responded: “Take it up with Smodur.”, at least I would have found it amusing.
Keep in mind we don’t know what kind of Exp the various events will give out when HoT releases. In the stress test I was able to get Glider up to level 5(which was max at that time) by repeatedly doing the Wyvern event as it was awarding 96k exp with each victory…and just to show how the number aren’t finalized…doing the very first story event in the latest beta awarded 720009 Exp, yes 720k…now tell me that isn’t a working number.
They already said that the mastery bar won’t be progressed by experience but by doing content. This would mean you can’t run dungeons repeatedly to progress it. Most likely it’s going to be something like achieves where it’s new content done once to progress by a certain amount.
If you tried to gain any levels in Masteries during the Closed Beta by activating one, you would have seen that each event you completed added exp to the Mastery bar just like completing events before level 80 adds to the Exp bar…same principal applies to Masteries, but you also need to gather Mastery Points to spend, those are what will prevent someone from repeatedly doing dungeons to advance the Mastery levels.

Seeing as this was the second event I was in and I used the Revenant in both of them I don’t see the same problems as some of you above. First, using Hammer…even with Celestial gear you could still put out damage…you just needed to chain all of the skills and utilities in logical sequences. The only time I had problems was when dealing with more than 3 Mordrem at once, solo, otherwise if it was 2 or single I could easily stand toe to toe if needed…though that wasn’t every really necessary, unless I wanted to. Did not use Mace/Axe this go round as I wanted to see how the Hammer/Jalis combination played out…you really do need to play it over time to figure out the synergies between the skills/utilities…and I feel different stats will help…you won’t even need Zerk to maximize the Revs’ potential.
Perhaps the religious zealotry of the Zintl missionaries will seem sufficiently despicable and unlikeable in the actual release, with fleshed out content. Maybe then we’ll have no problems slaughtering them.
I have no problem slaughtering anything that’s not the particular race of the character I happen to be playing at the moment or any of the other 4 playable races.
Hearts were never really intended for level 80 zones, which is why you don’t see them in Orr either, if you recall the 3 Orr zones have a total of zero(0) Hearts…yes, they’re in Frostgorge Sound, but that technically isn’t and end-game zone…only a stepping stone the Far Shiverpeaks.
I always got the feeling that WvW was supposed to be a bridge between PvP and PvE, hence players being able to keep their PvE equipment. This new map definitely has elements of that, but I think the real idea behind it is for players to use the environment as a weapon against other players.
As someone above said, there’s only really one place where players can fall to their deaths, so it’s less like EtoM’s do or die. It just gives players a few more ways to hurt their enemies.
Erm, plus all the lava plus all the random keep jumping stuff etc. You haven’t played the actual map yet but from the look of it it is mainly PvE, and no WvW is not a bridge between PvE and PvP. It’s PvP and if you would be in a true WvW community you would know that. WvW is about battles, not environment PvE stuff. We don’t need AI to do the kills and work for us, we want do it ourselves! We don’t need a PvE boss nor do we need PvE jumping puzzles. All I’m asking for is to make this map optional so the PvE community has their little playground to pretend to do PvP and we can keep the real PvP in WvW.
First, after correcting your post let me state, you’re quite mistaken in thinking that WvW in GW2 was not supposed to be a bridge between PvE and PvP…that was one of the thoughts that went into the design, which is why there has always been PvE elements to WvW. Did you know that data mined map from 2013, Fortunes Vale, was supposed to be the bridge between PvE and WvW? Do you know what you got instead of that map, EotM. As for jumping puzzles, I believe there already is a jumping puzzle in WvW…is there not? So ArenaNet isn’t adding anything that doesn’t already exist in the current WvW maps both EB and Borderlands.
we need a mechanic, that nobody can spawn items within the radius of another item/chest.
This. 120 radius should be enough.
120 is way to big, you’d only need at the minimum 40 or 60(and if you’re not sure how much space this is, look at PBAoE tool tip that is 120 and figure it out).
Technically speaking it wasn’t going to involve 3 servers fighting over it, per se…I’m not even sure I can talk about what it would have been like…whether the map still exists or not is a completely different story. Especially since that map is from 2013, over 2 years ago, but I will say one thing…if was freaking awesome…and I’d comment on the YouTube page, but I don’t want a flaming YouTube channel just to flipping comment.
How long it’s taking to get the expansion information out isnt really what I am talking about. I am talking about forum questions. An easy example relating to the beta portals would be people asking if it was affected by magic find. Specific threads asking, posts within existing threads and not a peep.
That’s a terrible example, anyone that knows anything about the game knows that drops from mobs are the only things affected by MF, therefore the Portals that came from events would not be affected, but those that came through killing a creature would…that doesn’t even warrant an answer by ArenaNet.
