You can say ‘oh, there are plenty of other people there for the test’ We are not talking about the same thing: it is a BUG TEST, not a preview or even a load test.

It’s a stability test……

Says so in the blog post…..

Which is between a bug test and a load test.

I’m going to tell you right now, though they will go over the forum posts pointing out bugs the biggest thing they’re going to be doing, and the reason is it during a weekday is monitoring the systems internally while we play them to gauge their stability…it’s a metrics gathering event if you really want to look at that way. Obviously if it keep crashing it’s not stable, they don’t need IT pros testing to figure that out, if each test runs the full 2 hours without any events crashing then what they’ve done so far is stable…that is what we are testing, all other information we provide is frosting on the cake.

There’s one thing I find very amusing in all this, during the Portal drop event I saw a lot of people commenting in map chat they didn’t realize how lucrative SW was; yet as soon as the event was over they stopped coming to the zone…so either they aren’t that crazy about making lots of gold or they’re full of bs. Don’t even say anything about burnout because I’ll come right back at you and tell you that burnout is something you cause yourself. It’s like something I learned way back when taking business management courses…if you can’t get your job completed in 8 hours, then you need to look at how you have it organized and how you delegate, because there’s absolutely no reason not to complete your work load in 8 hours…5 days a week.

P.S. – This is a stability Closed Beta…and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I certainly don’t follow along like Pavlov’s Dog.

Do You even care?

All I want and what basicly is needed from Anet is to implement an way to stop 4v5 of all kinds and stop hackers from ruining WvW

You’ll probably take this as irrelevant and snide, but wouldn’t good PvP players ignore the number of players on the opposition and play to the best of their ability? Technically, if you have 4 above average/great PvP players vs 5 average/good PvP players wouldn’t the 4 win a majority of the matches? Isn’t winning what’s most important, not how many you’re fighting against?

Before you even ask, I don’t PvP at all anymore, but I must have during the first few months otherwise I wouldn’t have some PvP numbers on my account, but my questions still stand and are completely valid.

I think we should close all dungeons as dungeon gold rewards are clearly the main culprit of this insane gold inflation and the reason why i cant get what i want right now.

Lol, that’s quite amusing coming from you, but to add on to the discussion, apparently the OP lives in a vacuum somewhere as there is RL flipping going on all the time…not necessarily with commodities, but certainly with stocks(and some commodities to an extent, all you ever need to do is look at the commodities markets). Wait, I stand corrected, one of the biggest money makers in the US right now is home flipping, though it has it’s risks just like any other type of flipping, there are a number of people that have invested in this market…I need to look to further than my own area to witness it, and as has been stated, as long as people are willing to pay the price there will always be people willing to buy and flip anything and everything(probably even including sex, though I wouldn’t touch that with a 100 ft pole).

There’s a 4th option, just ignore the “Nearly Completed” list entirely, I’m sure there’s also quite a few players out there that don’t even notice this list, as it’s right next to the “Recently Completed” list, another one that I would think most people ignore.

I guess I don’t fall under the majority then, I use the nearly completed when I feel like achievement hunting, and use the recently completed to quickly get back into achievement categories if I feel like continuing with specific zone/area/activity achievements.

Reread my post, I never said majority or minority, I only said quite a few, which covers a broad spectrum…and I always just went into the Achievement tab and looked at the specific different categories to see if there was anything I wanted to do. Then again, I’m not really a big achievement hunter, the only ones I’m semi-actively working on are the Slayer ones, with the exception of Giant Slayer—-because I’m generally lazy…haven’t bothered to do the LS2 ones for Lumi armor, no Dungeon Achievements, some Fractals but only because of Dailies(otherwise I never set foot in them)…some World Boss ones. They’re there if you want them and you can either hunt them down specifically, or just get them as you play.

[Outpost Beta] Is Revenant complete?

I think it’s unlikely, as they’d want to do a blog on it before we got our hands on it. Otoh they could surprise us and let it come out via streamers and posters.

I think I’ll be playing a mesmer. I know them quite well so I’ll have a better feel for any problems with the event cycle being tested.

That makes sense, but we’re only there to test the stability of the systems, I doubt there will be an in-Beta bug reporting option, though I know people will still report them on the forums. The whole point of this test is for ArenaNet to see how stable the particular events we’re testing are, which is why they’re scheduled for when they are, so they can monitor and gather data was we ‘play’ through them.

HoT Beta Not on a weekend?

I understand the reasoning for having it on a workday, even if it’s frustrating for a lot of the playerbase, but I just don’t see any reason to hace staggered it the way they have. Three lots of two hours? What are we supposed to be looking for? That’s not enough time to find bugs and too many people are at work or study for it to be a reasonable stress test.
~Snip~
As for the label ‘Beta’ – it’s not. This isn’t a beta, we can’t do anything with the time frame. This is a sneak preview for the lucky few who have the Portal – AND the time.

First off, if you read the post on the GW2 Home Page, this Closed Beta is a stability test, that’s not the same thing as a stress test. A stress test is to test how the servers will hold up under extreme loads, a stability test is to see how stable the actual game systems are, which can be done with a large or small population, it doesn’t matter…technically one person could overwhelm the game and make it unstable if it’s not coded properly. As for the time, it allows people to come and go during a short window, also something that’s part of the stability of the in-game systems…in this case,

The upcoming closed beta will help us test the stability of our new PvE outpost-event content structure. Participants will be able to use a revenant—or any of the existing eight professions—to play a small amount of expansion story content, followed by two beta versions of outposts and their corresponding adventures in part of the Verdant Brink map. An early, partially completed version of the day/night cycle meta-event experience from Verdant Brink will also be available.

The times listed are Pacific Daylight Time, or the time ArenaNet will have people available to monitor and fix any issues that might arise during the testing period. For those with normal working or school hours, they should be able to attend at least 2 out of 3 sessions.

For everyone complaining, and complaining is what it is, not necessarily offering constructive criticism or feedback, let’s really look at what those who will be able to enter the Closed Beta can do, from the post on the GW2 Home Page:

The upcoming closed beta will help us test the stability of our new PvE outpost-event content structure. Participants will be able to use a Revenant—or any of the existing eight professions—to play a small amount of expansion story content, followed by two beta versions of outposts and their corresponding adventures in part of the Verdant Brink map. An early, partially completed version of the day/night cycle meta-event experience from Verdant Brink will also be available.

It’s a stability test of specific content that is coming with HoT, it’s also going to have an early partially completed version of the day/night cycle. From this I am going to conclude that based on the results of this particular stability test ArenaNet will either hold one more Closed Beta to test the stability of the same events again, or we’ll go into the first Open Beta.

P.S. – This Stability Test Closed Beta is also longer than the first PvE Stress Test, which was 2 1 Hour sessions, this time we get 3 2 Hour sessions, basically triple the amount of time as the first test.

Bugs and the upcoming beta test

Yeah it IS a stress test. There really isn’t going to be a lot of time or space to find and report bugs.

The way I read it, we’re just adding numbers to something they can monitor on their side.

Uh, no, it’s not a stress test, did you even bother to read what we’re testing? Outpost events, even a preview of the day/night cycle. To quote from the actual announcement on the GW2 home page:
‘The upcoming closed beta will help us test the stability of our new PvE outpost-event content structure. Participants will be able to use a revenant—or any of the existing eight professions—to play a small amount of expansion story content, followed by two beta versions of outposts and their corresponding adventures in part of the Verdant Brink map. An early, partially completed version of the day/night cycle meta-event experience from Verdant Brink will also be available.’
If you want to call it anything, call it a stability test.

I’m also going to say that based on the findings from this Closed Beta, the next Beta event will either be one more Closed Beta or the next one will be the first Open Beta.

I’ll have a break too, there are some awesome games out now (like Witcher 3), just take a break and do some other games, or go out, it’s summer soon…

Such heresay, suggesting people go outside because it’s summer…do you realize how dangerous it is outside…and what benefit do we get from going outside…other than breathing in harmful air, potential death around every corner…getting burned from the sun. I’d much rather stay inside my nice air conditioned apartment and beat mindless computer A.I. to death while ignoring the real world.

You should probably specify that this in reference to combat against other live humans in WvW and PvP, because at least for a Ranger in PvE there’s no issue with the Pet A.I….at least I have none. So maybe they should have two separate A.I.‘s for Pets and Minions if that’s the case(though I know that’s a ridiculous request, it just makes more common sense), either that or separate A.I. for Minions and Pets.

New Daily Rotation; Same Double Fractals

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaklex.6308

Zaklex.6308

Stop kittening about this one, if you really must do only PvE for your daily and hate Fractals that much, then just skip the 10 AP points for the day…trust me, you won’t die. Otherwise, just suck it up and do 1 lvl 1 Fractal then quit complaining…and this is from someone that only does Fractals when they are part of the Daily…because I don’t care for them, nor any other Dungeon for that matter. This really does display a sense of entitlement on some peoples part, it’s been part of the new Daily rotation since it was implemented, obviously it’s intended.

If you’re not enjoying the fractals task, why do you do it? Oh, because you want the AP. So, you just swallow whatever ANet shovels onto your plate as long as they give you dessert? Because you force yourself to do something you don’t care for, others should as well? How kind of you to want to share. “Sweet misery, she loves her company…”

Sure, it’s intended. It doesn’t mean the new dailies are good design.

@ those complaining: ANet (the company, not necessarily the staff) is not your friend. They don’t have your best interests at heart, and they certainly only care about what you want to the extent that it affects their revenue.

There’s a major difference between enjoying and not caring for something…I’ve found doing the Level 1 Fractals for Dailies quite amusing most of the time, that doesn’t mean I care about doing them. Notice I said level 1, because that’s all I’ll do and if no one is doing lvl 1’s for the Daily, then I’ll either skip it or try something from WvW(which I did the other day before happening onto a group doing a lvl 1 for the Daily…presto, kitten WvW and get the daily done). I have and will, however, skip completing the Daily if I don’t manage to get it done in time, I haven’t died yet and doubt I will if I miss it a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or even more times…just means an extra day before I get the “End of Month” chest.

Why is Double Daily Fractal still happening?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaklex.6308

The first time the double Fractal daily came up I just skipped that day, no big deal. The next time, and I don’t dislike Fractal’s, it’s just not something I want to play, I decided what the hell and joined a random group in the LFG tool. It wasn’t that bad, brought back memories of some of the Fractals before they saw the light of day. When it’s part of the daily is the only time I do a Fractal, and it’s always the single one, which 50% of the time results in a full run…I haven’t died yet.

How much coin do monsters drop anyway, and how often? I know it’s a very small amount and I don’t think it’s every time a mob is killed. The times I’ve have noticed it, it’s been only a few copper per drop. Even doubling it with this buff, which will take years, would only give, what? 40 copper or so in a drop? and not every drop at that.

It’s pretty much a useless buff at this time imo. Increased karma and magic find are better.

I usually get around 1s as drop at lvl 80, it adds up, if you have a couple of hundred kills per hour. I have gilded infusion on my amulet.

Interesting. The times I’ve seen it, it hasn’t been a silver but copper. Haven’t paid close attention to how much but it wasn’t much. I chose karma for my amulet as that’s what I need more of. If it’s a silver it might be worth investing in a gilded amulet after I get the karma I want.

Actually, it varies from a few Copper to over 1 Silver per kill, though it seems in SW when I do get money from a kill it’s right around 66 Copper….the over 1 Silver is pretty rare and I’ve only seen it 2 or 3 times. However, and here’s where it probably works better is event rewards, since the % increase applies to those as well. So keep in mind it’s not just for mob kills, but gold from successful event completion also.

Salvage Kit - Why I consider it a nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Pretty simple, you go into an instance – for example fractals (but works with SW as well) – you get a lot of greens. You salvage them. So far you could keep your inventory tidy by breaking stuff down to luck essences and raw materials. Now your inventory will be clogged by “minor sigil of annoyance” and “minor rune of obnoxiousness”.

Yes, you can sell those for a whopping 16c each. Yes you can vendor them from time to time, but this is a QoL change for the worse. Making you spawn a merchant or run to one every time you’re drowning in these. Then if you have let’s say 40 of these, you would still end up with ~6 silver worth of items.

It might not be a nerf per se but it sure is a really annoying and unnecessary change.

Then you’re doing it wrong, and I’ll use your SW example to prove it. You farm SW for 5 – 6 hours, you don’t ever stop and salvage during that 5 – 6 hours, never. You do all of your salvaging after having completed your farming for the day, near the merchant in Camp Resolve, then it’s no longer a problem to sell those Minor Runes/Sigils because the Merchant window is always open as you also need to keep buying Basic Salvage Kits(unless you use a Copper Fed/Silver Fed). I can literally salvage an entire days worth of loot from SW doing it this way with only having 30 empty inventory slots, and I don’t have any extra bags, just 5 20 slot bags.

As for our OP, why the hell does he use those enemy specific sigils, they’re completely worthless, and having 2 bank tabs worth of Superior Sigils/Runes…some of those are completely useless and aren’t good for anything except selling to the merchant for the 2+silver they’re worth. Of course, there’s a sucker born every minute and that’s why ArenaNet made those enemy specific Sigils in the first place, because they knew that some people would use them, or even buy them.

1) when did i say im using slaying sigils?
i dont even use them since i am already trying to save inventory slots
all i use is sigil of force & sigil of night and 1 other weapon for daytime…

i just use slaying POTIONS because they are definitly worth it

2) how can you farm for 5-6 hours and not have a full inventory after 30-60 minutes???

your way of farming must be a rather uneffective farming method

Sorry about the Sigils, you did say potions, and I still find them useless and never even have used 1. As for how I farm, you have done Silverwastes, have you not…the drops from mobs are minimal at best, and I don’t gather from nodes because I already have excess amounts of all those items. As for other stuff, I just keep collecting the Crests until I have around a 1000 or so(anywhere from 3 – 5 stacks), Heirloom and Champ bags(of which I’m almost up to 3 stacks each again, last time I saved them up I had 5 stack of each), as well as the Bags of Gear. I also don’t carry around any extra sets of armor, only one set of all weapons I can use, minimal convenience items. The only time I every fill up my inventory is when I do the Lab and go to the Greater Nightmare Chest and open it up 10 – 15 times at once, since I continually salvage the Blues and Greens as I gather them up, depositing the materials immediately, and I’ve been known to just dispose of any Minor Runes and Sigils I get by dragging them out of inventory into ‘space’, which is much faster than right clicking and destroying. Every month or so I do a click fest in front of a merchant…and now, my mouse isn’t anywhere near breaking so I don’t get the other issue of having to click so much to get your rewards…and I use mouse clicks for everything.

because maybe some of us got the copper fed so we could salvage our blues and greens in the field and not have to vendor every 2 seconds?

Which was suppose to have been giving us 20% rune recovery rate. We knew when we bought the thing that it was suppose to give us 1 rune out of 5. The fact that we didn’t notice or care that it was is immaterial. It was broken, now it’s fixed. If it’s worthless to you then delete them.

You need to learn math, that’s not how the salvage rate works…it’s a 20% chance of getting a rune/sigil each time you salvage something…not one out of every 5, though if you want be simplistic about it that’s fine, since the majority of people don’t understand percentages anyways. Which means you can salvage 100 items and get anywhere from 0 – 100 items in return, because each item is subject to that 20% rate, though on average you’d expect 20 out of 100, that is not how percentages end up working.

i understand when people dont have this problem
and i actually don’t have such a big problem with these sigils/runes on most of my chars actually but on my main and a few other chars where i have a lot of consumables / buff foods / fun gem shop items / extra armor sets+trinkets+weapons / etc …. where 100+ slots are often permanently filled
which makes every single inventory spot left free important

If Anet gave us the option to buy more bag slots that would solve this problem to the most part at least and make me happy
but they don’t do that either sadly

Or if they sold an infinite salvage kit that works just as the infinite Copper-Fed Salvage-O-Matic but without the function of salvaging upgrades I would be very very happy too

Seriously, YOU’RE COMPLAINING ABOUT A PROBLEM YOU CREATED, yes, you created this problem, not ArenaNet, therefore the solution needs to come from you, and was not created by ArenaNet fixing the salvage kits to work properly. Stop being such a hoarder, which is exactly what you would be considered having a 100+ inventory slots filled with…why the hell you have in a 100+ inventory slots constantly filled is beyond me. Do you honestly need all that extra bs with you, and yes, I’m boosts and food buffs bs.

I checked back to the beginning of April, you haven’t hit DR since that time.

Depends on how you look at it. 1 thing i’m 100% sure with makes your claim at least partly wrong: The event reward diminishing return for sure has kicked in to the player you are referring to. 15 (around) Events in Silverwastes is enough to lower the 18000 experience to drop to 17k 16k very fast down to almost nothing (600 exp if you keep spamming Silverwastes). That DR has definitely been reached by him who plays more Silverwastes then me, and I got it already by playing SW 1 hour. Sure it’s technically not loot, but the exp, (can give loot if use wisely), Karma (also sort of loot) and money (definitely loot) of events are nerfed heavly this way.
~Snip~

You’re completely wrong about the Event DR Phoebe, and all you need to do is look up above at my previous post with the number in it. That third level of 12k Exp, etc. that continued for the next 3 times doing the same event without going any lower…and based on the previous 3 and your statement it should have continued to drop each and every time I did the same event over and over. I believe there’s a cap on how much DR affects events to where it reaches a plateau…and John Smith only oversees monster DR, he has nothing to do with event DR.

Dungeon Story's made soloable

Secondly, why are you(the player character) helping to get Destiny’s Edge back together? Yes, I get the level 30 meeting and break up, but, Eir goes off to start what she thinks will help get the group together…that’s her deal, I have nothing to do with it so why should I go and help?

Because someone sends you letters telling you what’s going on, and asking for you to help?

The sender of the letters is simply known as “Your Herald”, even though you never hire or ask for one. I’d guess that they’re linked to Mister E in some way, IF ANet ever decides to address that issue.

Given that you’re supposed to be a friend of sorts to at least one of the people involved, it’s not too big of a stretch to assume that you’d try to help. (Depending on your personal story, it may not be the first time you’ve set out to help a friend, after all.)

But, what if I like playing as the friend that never helps? Or only helps when it’s convenient for me(not saying I’m like that for real, but it’s an interesting way of playing). Would I try doing the story mode if the option was given to be able to do them solo…perhaps, but then again, perhaps not as I’m not a big dungeon person to begin with. I suppose it’s just another option for the community, and it’s one that won’t harm the game to much if at all.

Unfortunately, and I know a lot of people are sick of it or get sick of it real fast, SilverWastes…which gives you plenty of T6 materials via several methods:
*Champ Bags
*Direct Drops(semi-rare)
*Bag of Stolen Goods from Crest Vendor
Though not super fast method of acquisition, I’d say that I’ve gotten roughly 300 of each T6 item through those 3 methods over the last 4 – 5 months…and while I gathered those T6 materials, I also gathered way more T5 than I needed and used the Mystic Forge to create even more T6 materials…at low cost to me(well, basically none, except for the Philospher’s Stones which only cost Skill Points of which I have over 3000, maybe 4000+ combined…and some gold in the range of 100 – 2000, give or take.

You do realize what CULTURAL means, don’t you? Simply put, it applies only to that culture, hence it doesn’t belong to any other culture…end of discussion!

I’m fairly certain I can wear clothes from a different culture to my own. They may not sell it to me, but if something is popular there is usually a way to get it. Also, culture by definition does not imply race. You can have different cultures within the same race and conversely different races within the same culture.

You’re trying to pass off real world context to a fantasy world, it doesn’t work that way unfortunately.

Meta's and exploits are killing this game

First off, the players created the Zerker meta, not A.net…a development doesn’t create a meta, players do by choosing to play only one style. Second, if you’re looking at the number of views for HoT reveal on YouTube, that’s misleading because it doesn’t take into account the number of people that have viewed it on the official site, either the HoT site itself or the main GW2…that 443k is only one segment of the viewing public(and really, 3.5 million copies…have you forgotten China, it was sold there too).

Yes, but it’s the developers’ responsibility to counter unintentional game play, with more balanced game play that isn’t borderline exploiting.

Or maybe, you know, that was the design intention? It was never ArenaNet’s intention to not allow speed runs…it is after all a style of game play, just as is killing every single trash mob is a style of game play. The players themselves need to form their own groups that are willing to play which ever style they choose(which is one of the reasons I don’t do dungeons, besides the fact I don’t find them interesting, I prefer to kill everything).

Adept? Master? Grandmaster? Why bother?

Every trait has the same value now. We must max the tree, and we cannot selected more than one adept or master trait. So why bother with different powered traits? For leveling? That is not a good reason.

Also the same thing goes for the minor traits.

How wrong you are, if you had listened to the 4 Hour AMA and paid attention, some asked if you could chose 2 traits from a Grandmaster set if you wanted to…the reply was yes, you could pick 2. Which means, if this system is fleshed out entirely..someone could choose to pick all 3 Adept or 1 Adept and 2 Master traits…but I think what confused everyone is that you first had to unlock all 3 levels before you could start playing around with different combinations. At least that is they way I understood from the answer given, and that actually makes the most sense for build diversity which is what I think A.net is trying for.

Dungeon Story's made soloable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaklex.6308

Zaklex.6308

In all honesty the story mode Dungeons are OPTIONAL, they’re not integral to the Personal Story what so ever and don’t even need to be done for a cohesive story for your character. What those SM Dungeons are for is getting Destiny’s Edge reunited for the battle against Zhaitan, nothing more. If you can some how manage to weave them into your PS, all the better for you, but they leave out nothing in the end and you really never have to do them at all(as I have never done any of them on Live, other than the Victory or Death). They are barely related to the Personal Story as is, if they were more intertwined I would agree, but in their current format…no.

There are two reasons this is not true.

The first is that in order to unlock the explorable dungeons you have to do the story dungeon. While you can still join a group that has already done it and unlocked them, that still means it had to have been done at some point. So not optional entirely.

Second is that the personal story involves Destiny’s Edge. The first chapter of your person story involves one of the members of Destiny’s Edge somewhat mentoring you, most just you hanging around them for a while doing stuff while they watch from the sidelines. Then, at level 30, you get to see all of Destiny’s Edge come together, get into a massive fight and break up, apparently irreparably. Finally, at level 80, you come to Arah and they are a fully cohesive group and working together like a team.

Without the story modes of all the dungeons before then the transition from the team at level 30 to the team at level 80 is nonsensical. AC shows Eir trying to make things better with Logan and Rytlok and shows Rytlok’s attitude about what happened. CM introduces Logan’s feelings for Jenna, why he left the team, and Zojja’s feelings. TA explains Caithe’s situation with Foalin, which is further delved into during LW Season 2. SE gives the entire breakdown of Destiny’s Edge. CoF reunites Logan and Rytlok and helps to restore their bromance. HoW restores Eir’s confidence in herself. CoE Logan and Rytlok help Zojja get over herself and the loss of Snaff. After all that, when you get to Arah to find them all finally able to work together like they used to it make sense. It’s all part of the same story, especially since you are directly involved in all of those events, so it should be part of the personal story and as such played personally.

Technically speaking, you’re somewhat correct, but it doesn’t matter if you’re not interested in doing the dungeons…so that’s one issue taken care of. Secondly, why are you(the player character) helping to get Destiny’s Edge back together? Yes, I get the level 30 meeting and break up, but, Eir goes off to start what she thinks will help get the group together…that’s her deal, I have nothing to do with it so why should I go and help? Now do you get why the story mode dungeons shouldn’t be included as part of the Personal Story…as for needing to do Story Mode to unlock Explorable…that was just a design decision…they could have chosen any number of ways to do that…including creating a dynamic event that served that purpose, then there wouldn’t have been a need for a Story Mode at all. Yes, I’m looking at as someone who could care less about the dungeons, either Story or Explorable…I honestly don’t even remember doing one of the Arah paths in Explorable, but I must have otherwise I wouldn’t have 60 tokens, and that’s the last time I’ve set foot in one, at least on the live client.

FEEDBACK - Pls fix event daily before HoT

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaklex.6308

The solution is simple and right in your F11 menu…when doing the low level zones, just open up and select the option to that doesn’t display Pesonal Story. Then just look for the events, do them when you find one that isn’t completed and DO NOT hop around the map following map chat…all the low level zones have enough events believe it or not. Unless you want to complete this particular thing in 5 minutes…keep in mind, while you’re in this low level zone that you only visit when the daily requires it, you could gather those low level materials you don’t really need anymore, or just have fun and don’t worry about when you complete the daily..as if you’ll die if its’ not done in 5 minutes.

Using this method I never have problems finding events to do in low level zones because players tend to do the same events over and over, skipping a lot of the ones that do exist. Yes, it might take me more than 5 – 10 minutes, but is that such a waste of time, I’m still playing the game and having fun.

As for the OP’s suggestion of filing a bug report, it is practically useless to file bug report when you come upon an event that is already stalled or bugged out as you can’t tell the Devs what was happening when the event bugged. I’ll give an example that isn’t low level but it applies….the Indigo Pack Bull from Camp Resolve…I’ve numerous times come across the Bull bugged at the last set of enemies, just standing there as if it’s being attacked…but I’ve never witnessed the actual bug, I have had people tell me the enemies don’t spawn…filing out a bug report based on heresay(that’s what it is) could be futile if that’s not the case. Filing out a proper bug report is more helpful than a useless one.

Might I suggest they put it in the Gem Store for 2000 Gems…that seems about the right price for something that would completely alter your armor skins and require a huge amount of coding to include in the dye system…just think about how the affect would need to be coded into the dye system to work…recode the entire thing.

Though there was that quick post on the blog Monday the 11th that mentioned the weekend of the 15th – 18th, it was removed very quickly and from what was posted on these forums about it. Personally, I just check my e-mail every day waiting for instructions as that is how they will be sent out, just like they were for the Stress test.

They could conceivably and probably will do this Closed Beta sometime after the Reaper reveal, perhaps the following weekend, that allows people to test at least 3 of the Elite Specializations, 4 if they wanted to throw in the Druid even though we don’t know much about it other than it’s a staff wielding Ranger. They could even let us at all of the Elite Spec, but then it would have an NDA attached to it since we couldn’t talk about the ES not yet revealed…so that’s a no go.

Also, for those that didn’t pay attention, during that 4 hour AMA they also asked anyone whose build was being destroyed or eliminated to let them know, as it was not their intention to do just that. So, unless you tell the Dev team that your specific build is being utterly ruined, before you’ve even had a chance to see the new numbers on everything, let them know, I’m sure there’s a thread somewhere asking for that information. Then when everything is all said and done and you do get to see the final numbers…come back on here and post how your current build and gear was utterly destroyed beyond use.

~Snip~

This would make the game appear full at ALL times. I mean not only is that smarter, but on their end it would save them money.

Exactly how does it save money when you’re using equipment, in this case servers, that are owned by NCSoft? Oh, I’m sure there might be a nominal charge from NCSoft to use the servers, but the DC’s do belong to NCSoft so your suggestion doesn’t necessarily save money.

i just bought this game to play with my friend and the server is full.. what am i supose to do get a refund!!!

I think you’re out of luck on that one, there’s no legitimate business reason to give you a refund for a full server, you bought the game to play it. playing with a friend is not guaranteed. You can however submit a ticket to CS in the hopes they’ll issue a refund.
Or, you can join a open server and then keep trying to transfer to the server your friend is on.

Heart of Thorns and Addons

I’d love some UI customization such as the ability to hide specific UI components (map, chat, skill bar etc.) individually, or even a feature to auto-hide the UI out of combat. But I’m a bit weary of addons that go beyond UI tweaking.

For chat, you can uncheck “map” in the chat list.

I’m pretty sure there’s a built-in hotkey to hide your entire UI (chat, skill bar, map, quests). I’m not at my gaming computer right now, so I couldn’t tell you, but there is a way to do it.

But I’m lazy, I want the game to automatically do stuff :P

No hot key, it’s Ctrl+Shft+H…that hides the entire UI and is what people use for screen shots usually…and when I say entire UI, I mean entire…it’s a completely clean screen, so if you know your commands by heart or have them specifically laid out for your personal use…then by all means, turn the UI off with that command.

Thanks, guys. It makes sense to sell them as seasonal outfits. Guess I’ll just have to see if I can find warm-looking armor, then. Can’t run around in the snow in a t-shirt. :p

You certainly can run around in the snow in t-shirt, it’s all in the mind anyways..and besides, the running will keep you warm. Heck I run around all over the place in a pseudo halter top…even the snow of Frostgorge.

A way to gain ascended without crafting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zaklex.6308

Having crafting be the primary method of acquiring top end gear is good for the overall economy because it ensures that lots of players will be participating.

I always hated other MMOs where the economy was irrelevant due to the fact that everything was grinded. Yeah, they “had one”, but it was meaningless. Its only purpose was to gouge new players who were still leveling.

Here, we get a dynamic system that keeps up with the game, and that’s a really nice achievement.

Everyone who has time to farm gold and take time from playing to craft. That’s as much of a slap as having the only way to get the best gear being Raiding and leaving crafting as an obsolete hobby. I still wouldn’t mind it if they just increased the drop rate even a little or even compartmentalized how and where certain stat combos would drop, I’d be fine with taking more time to get the stat combo I need while playing the game I want to play. Anyone who feels the need to spit the usual arguments about their crafted ascended can save it, I’m talking about how going extreme one way or another isn’t fair, it’s just tipping a scale in another way.

Do you do high level Fractals? If yes, then you need Ascended, if no, then you do not need Ascended gear. End of story, no increase in drop rates needed…unless you just have to have BiS…in which case you have problems that only a professional can help with.

Anyone else ONLY play humans?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zaklex.6308

Zaklex.6308

I have two human characters out of 12. One is a key runner, human because that’s the most efficient key run. The other is human because I needed one to do the human personal story. Otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered cuz I think making a human is boring compared to making another race.

Before I respond to the OP, you know Flesh that technically you only got to play one of the human personal story lines…you’d have to create way more characters to play every single story line in the game…which is one of the reason ArenaNet made the Personal Story the way they did.

The only game I played ONLY humans in was the original GW, because I had no choice in the matter…otherwise the answer to your question is NO. As to why, well, I just realized with what I said to Just above that I’m going to need a lot more characters…yes, I know the Personal Story merges at Lvl 50 and is basically the same from there on out for everyone. However, before that point, each race has 3 different starting journeys, which works out to a total of 15, and from that then you would have enough characters to choose each of the secondary races to help that each race has…hmm, food for thought.

Dragonite hatchling? (Mawdrey III)

I just delete it.

I keep 15 of each of the refined versions and 250 unrefined in my materials tab (250 because that’s the max, 15 because that’s an arbitrary number I decided on). Anything more than that I delete.

I see absolutely no reason to keep it when it’s so easy to get. If they bring out a new use for it I’ll save up however much I need then.

Technically speaking, the max for your material storage is 1500, not 250, though that does require spending gems in the gem store to buy storage expanders, but there are people out there that have maxed out material storage. Personally I have mine up to 1000 right now, and I’ve managed to almost get every T5 material to that limit, the rare T5’s for sure, and most of the basic T5 is maxed out as well. I’ve been toying with the idea of buying the final two expansion keys from the store, and then filling everything up to the 1500 limit, at least the basic materials and some rare as well. Otherwise I just toss the Dragonite Ore I get now, as I have that 1000 in material storage and another 2000 on one character…don’t really need it otherwise.

Are the 25Heals getting buffed?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Zaklex.6308

Much like the suggestion to make conditions only available for those who setup pure condition builds they could make healing function properly when people setup pure healing builds that would at least keep glass cannons from misusing the setup by trying to make it impossible to kill them as DPS but also give healing specs a chance to actually shine for a change in this game.

How about instead buffing healing power? So i finally has some meaning. As it stand in this game, if you trade raw power for toughness, healing power or anything other you always make a poor trade. The amount of defense gained in relation to the amount of power/dmg lost is in no relation. And i’m not talking about 1:1 translation.

By the way give guardian +400 healing power baseline ( why? that’s too much? as if it would have any meaningful impact in it’s current state). After all, that`s the class most people would think of when they where ask, who the “healer” class in game would be or who would benefit the most of it.

Both of you need to take a step back and rethink what you’re saying, this is getting dangerously close to talking about having a Trinity in this game, and GW2 is anti-trinity…so don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon.
