daily login reward

Zalladi.4652

hmm.. according to him, it has been few days already…. i was thinking the same as you did, that it was his first day, but apparently few days has passed.

nvm, i’ll check with him again…

If possible, have him check the achievements section of his hero panel and take a screenshot of the daily login rewards table that should appear there. And then post that screenshot here if you can. The table should have progressed somewhat if he has been receiving them.

It is also possible that he is unknowingly receiving the rewards as he is a new player after all?

daily login reward

Zalladi.4652

There are no criteria other than logging in. It is possible though, that the first day of a new account won’t count for a login reward as the reset for the rewards had already passed and the account did not exist before then, so it is likely he will start getting them from tomorrow onwards.

If, however, he doesn’t receive his first login reward by tomorrow, then I must be missing something, but as far as I know, there are no restrictions.

Solved, thank you :)

When you say standstill, does that mean a literal freeze as if your screen has turned into a photo? Or a disconnect so that you’ll see other players running into a wall or standing still doing nothing?

If the former, do you have any other programs running while playing GW2? I know of quite a few things that can cause a hindrance to frame rate, at some points making it seem standstill. Further, it could also be possible that your client didn’t install correctly (although very unlikely) or that your hardware could be in a little worse for wear – though I am very inexperienced with tech.

If it was the latter, random disconnects like that have been occurring since the launch of the game, and you should consider yourself lucky to have only just encountered one.

Also see if the problems persist or if it was just a one-off crash.

Three years people have been asking for a solution to this problem. I think it’s safe to say nothing is going to be done.

True, but my optimism got the best of me.

I dont think the que thing would work to well and we dont know the server structure or program enough to know if a grace period is easy to implement or not. ( ofcourse i would like it aswell those crashes at teq and tt arent fun)

Well, the queue system would at least be less clunky than the current option of having to spam and hope someone else in the full map disconnects. A rather cruel circle. If it were a queue, at least you would know how close you are to getting into the map and you would need not spam the ‘Join in’ button any more, which has killed many a mouse.

It has plagued us since GW2’s release, I am talking about those random disconnects you get near the end of Tequatl, or as you suddenly find that enemy zerg in WvW, or as Peneloopee intimidates you with “Coo!”. As I am sure many others like myself are becoming rather irritated by these disconnects, I would like to propose an option or two on how Anet could resolve the issue.

Solution #1: The most common that many have suggested here on the forums; allow a 1-minute grace period for players that disconnect. Effectively, this will reserve the disconnected players’ spot on the map for one minute after their moment of disconnect. After that duration is up, the spot is then open to anyone else trying to get into the map.

This solution would be very effective, as these random disconnects are usually a sudden kick from the server which you can immediately log back in to within a short space of time. Therefore, if a 1-minute grace period was in place, the player will experience the sudden horror of a disconnect, but then quickly reboot the game and log back in and safely enter back onto the same map, feeling pleased.

Solution #2: Now this one is far more complex to implement, but the main mechanics are already in place. What I propose is a queue system nearly identical to what we currently have for WvW borderlands, but for regular maps.

So taking an alternative look from solution #1, here the player would disconnect and log back in as fast as they could. Upon logging in, they would then click the ‘Join in X’ from a party member’s portrait, and if the map is full they would be put into a queue for that map.

I am terrible with words, so I have attached two graphics which explains this the best I could visually (of course, no bonus points for pointing out my terrible image editing skills).

The first graphic details the current issue I am raising, and the second is the solution #2 I am giving here.

Thank you all for reading, and hopefully we won’t have to experience the frustration of the random disconnects ever again!

Tl;dr – Take a look at the graphics.

Deluxe Edition?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

You can upgrade to Deluxe at any time through the gem store if you have activated a standard expansion on your account, but there is no way to upgrade to the ultimate (mainly as that is only the addition of gems on top of the other items, which would not work if you were buying it with gems in the gem store).

The original deluxe upgrade from the base game is still available in the gem store for 2000 gems, but as to whether or not buying the HoT expansion as deluxe or ultimate will give you that for free, I don’t know.

Hero Points

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zalladi.4652

When you reach level 80, you are given enough hero points to fully maximise the core training. What that means is that you should be able to complete the entire training tab as it is now, which will give you all of your current skills. You do not have to do any hero challenges currently, unless you want to be ready for when HoT releases and then you can immediately spend them on elite specialization training (or something similar) when the expansion releases.

Daily fractal but no daily dungeon?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

My only guess is that Anet understand that dungeons are more popular than fractals and are run more frequently day in and day out. Fractals on the other hand are a lesser run game type, and this is their way of trying to incentivize more players to play this type of content.

Just my two coppers.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

Some items will return, others will not. For example, recently they removed some armor sets that were in the gem store since launch, and stated that they will be returning to the store temporarily some time in the fall (correct me if I’m wrong there).

As you mention the Wizard’kitten, that hasn’t appeared since Wintersday 2012, and from that fact I doubt it will be re-introduced in any simple means such as through the gem store. That is mainly because this item would have gained a large level of prestige and is valuable to old time players. Then again, Anet could surprise us, especially if demand is high enough and players are willing to spend.

They do take action against things such as this, and this is certainly not the first time their resources have been used elsewhere nor will it be the last.

Here was the most recent previous example.

Gaile also commented on how to take action against these:

“Thanks for these notes. We’ve filed on this before and the ad was pulled. But it seems to have reappeared. If you could kindly post a direct link to the ad — not to where the ad leads but to the ad itself — we can investigate.”

[Sugg/Ideas] Raids [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

Yes, it very much needs instanced raids. World bosses do not, nor ever will cut it.

To some degree, Triple Trouble could be comparable to a raid, at least difficulty-wise, as it requires an organized collection of players to complete and not just some PuG groups of players. Similarly, it divides all of the players into 3 separate groups so there are fewer people at each wurm location, invoking the feeling that your role really matters, similar to how you would feel in a traditional raid.

I am very happy to accept instanced raids if Anet ever announce it or a similar form of hardcore content, I am merely grasping at straws to try and draw a comparison with world bosses and raids.

Pre-Event Participation & WB Encounters

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

1) In all honesty, it’s just general lazyness which we all can relate to. It is easier to sit and wait while a few others go and complete the pre-events, and I doubt anything will change that until Anet are able to incentivize the pre-events significantly more (such as the lootbags earned from the Modniir pre-events).

2) It is the players themselves that make encounters so; eg players discover safe spots to stand in, which developers likely wouldn’t have intended most players to exploit (Golem Mark II). Of course, there are some encounters which are very dynamic and fast-paced; Tequatl and Triple Trouble Wurm to name a couple, which I find are a blast to play even to this day. It also seems that future bosses are becoming much more dynamic and flexible, as seen from Season 2 of the Living World’s instance bosses, and the footage seen of the wyvern fight in Heart of Thorns.

Do note that all of this is solely my opinion and is very likely to differ to others’.

Shield skins as backpieces?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

From what I’ve experienced at the moment, whenever you have a shield equipped and are out of combat, the shield does become your backpiece. Although, when in combat, your original back piece returns as you wield your shield.

So half of the request is already there, but I do think it would be a reasonable idea to have some back pieces that are shields, or an option to equip your shield skin as your back piece.

Although, it wouldn’t be very realistic then to be in combat with your shield still on your back.

TLDR:
After pre-purchasing ends, it will be -monthS- before the game would be launched.

That is, if pre-purchasing does actually have an early end; I find it a far more likely scenario that people will be able to pre-purchase right up to the day before release, which I think is what most other MMO’s do (then again, my experience with MMO’s is quite limited).

Can't redeem code???

Zalladi.4652

Hopefully it should be resolved in an hour or two, but if it persists into tomorrow, it might be an issue on your side of the client/connection. If it does persist, I would submit a ticket or contact the GW2 support (without sending them the serial code, unless they specifically ask for it, which is highly unlikely) and see if they can help you as the gem code could possibly be a dud or defect (although I doubt it myself).

Or perhaps some other players here with more experience with this than myself can help you.

Zalladi.4652

well i tried to play with most of them i just cant find myself in any of it
its really hard to find nice class to go with it
i think i tried almost everything but still after lvling them they just start boring little bit
i donnu which to choose for high dps and fast dungeon i tried literally every class except the engi, i just dont like it so much to open it
and warrior is a no no
so im stuck with ele\mesmer\thief\ranger\necro
i just donnu which one to take

With the choices remaining, I would then recommend an elementalist; they deal incredibly high damage, are very useful for all dungeons but can be very squishy when going up against tough enemies. I find an elementalist to be very fun to play, especially with the recent condition changes which allowed for some incredibly damaging condition builds.

Although, hopefully some more people will post in here to give their opinions about it, as just mine and a one other posters’ opinions aren’t saying too much.

so after long break im back =D

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

Foremost, I recommend you to play what you want to play.

But as you have mentioned dungeons and such, all classes are viable, but some classes are much preferred for specific dungeons than others (Thieves for CM, Elementalists for AC etc) and Warrior is a good overall class for support and damage with banners and greatsword. For the majority of dungeon groups that want to complete it as fast as possible, they occasionally prefer to avoid rangers and necromancers, but the majority of groups will accept any class.

For WvW, as you mentioned Guardian, that class is especially valuable for its stability and shouts in WvW groups, but again, any class is very viable for WvW.

With general PvE, any class is very viable for solo play, although the level 80 Season 2 of the Living World and the upcoming Heart of Thorns expansions will likely be harder to solo for most classes, but you can always find a group to complete those with if you are struggling.

So I’ll just say once more with a deus-ex machina that I recommend you play the class you are most interested in, and welcome back to Tyria!

Is the Hall of Monuments fixed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

As of now, it is still disabled.

I refer you to one of the main threads on the topic, in which a developer clarified the issue with:

“[…] We are working on this, I assure you, and we will remove the rewards from players that should not have received them. I do not have a timeframe, as modifying accounts at this type of level is not something we would ever take lightly, and as long as we keep a majority of the entitlements locked there is less for us to clean up.”

The most recent thing we’ve heard from the developers on the issues was “this is something that the team is still working on, and it has not been back-burnered. We’re sorry for the time that it’s taken to correct this, but as mentioned previously, we want to ensure we do it right so we’re taking the time to research every aspect of the fix” which was 1 month ago.

world boss spawning [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

They did this a while back with an update in 2014.

This update made all bosses spawn at exact time periods multiple times throughout a day (of course with some options for Guilds to spawn at their leisure) so there are several chances to get in on a certain world boss per day, to suit regulars and casuals. This should suit more players’ play sessions than what it was previously (a cooldown timer that started on each world boss death, so the respawn time was recorded by the players on world boss timers etc).

I’m sure you know about world boss timers, but just in case, here is one that is very helpful in planning when to play to be able to participate in certain world bosses if you are looking to do them.

Do we save Hero Pts or Max Core Training?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

Entirely up to you.

Likewise to the 2nd poster, once you reach 80 you will be given all the hero points required to unlock all of your core training, so personally I see no reason not to spend it there to maximise it. However, you may find it preferable to save them for the elite specializations if you don’t feel like you want to go around and collect several hero challenges (the new maps will likely have quite a few, but possibly not enough to max out the elite specialization on its own), so there is that argument.

Of course, a developer stated they may have future uses for excess hero points (or spirit shards, I forget) in the future, although he may have been referring to elite specializations themselves. I’ll see if I can find that reference.

Edit: Found the reference from Colin from this thread:

“With the release of HoT, there will be options to spend the excess hero points earned from doing hero challenges in the world.”

So that could mean elite specializations, or it could mean some other method, although more likely the former.

where is stronghold and how do i start it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Zalladi.4652

In order to play stronghold, you need to pre-purchased the expansion.

I believe that is incorrect. Stronghold will be free to all players, regardless of whether they bought the expansion or not. What won’t be free to them is on one of the mist champions, as you will need to have the expansion unlocked to be able to complete the reward track associated with unlocking her (“You will need to own Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ to be able to access the reward track that unlocks Nika” from here).

Then again, this is simply what I can remember reading about, and I may well be wrong.

Just ran AC with my ele and found damage output significantly lower. However, when running CoF with my warrior, it was about the same as before.

I think this has to do with the changes in base stat acquisition throughout levels 1 – 80, it seems that lower levels now have reduced based stats, which would make sense for AC as that scales to ~35, whereas CoF scales to ~75.

Either way, that AC run was painful.

You can extend the size of the new currency box so that is displays all currencies without having to scroll.

After u extend it it just get as big as the old one what is the point ?

The point is so that new currencies can be added without new currencies having to be implemented in groups of 4 to keep with the original 4×4 table format. Now they can freely add 1, 2, 3, 19 new currencies without it ruining the format of the wallet.

Living World S2 included in HoT?

Hi there!
Quick questions regarding the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Expansion (HoT) as in the title.
1. Is Living World Season 2 included in HoT, or not? If not, I would need to purchase with Gems in-store?
2. Other than Living World Season 1, does any other ‘Stories’ come with HoT?
Thanks!

1) It is not included; to experience it you must either purchase it through the gem store, or find someone that has it unlocked and join their story instance (though you won’t get credit)
2) I heard there was a living story season 3 planned to continue after HoT, but as to whether that is free or included with the purchase of HoT, I do not know.

Skill points and Spirit Shards?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zalladi.4652

Zalladi.4652

A quick update on this one -> After feedback from presenting the original hero point count – we decided getting to level 80 will give you enough hero points to unlock all the core skills and traits entirely. Doing hero challenges (aka skill challenges) will simply allow you to earn all the skills/traits earlier before level 80. With the release of HoT, there will be options to spend the excess hero points earned from doing hero challenges in the world.

There are a number of other changes on 6/23 to make the experience from 1-80 more exciting, better-paced, rewarding, and fun as well after having the time to evaluate and player feedback from the updates last year.

That is awesome to hear! I was worried I would lose 20% of skills on most of my characters that didn’t do any world completion, but that comment is reassuring now, – looking forward to it!
