Well, the beta weekend blog post doesn’t mention fractals, so I doubt those changes will be available there. However, the mastery track might be available for fractals (as masteries will be available to test).
I would expect so; as soon as you apply the code to your account, you should receive the pre-purchase bonuses.
However, I don’t know for a fact if you will be given beta slots to use for that weekend if you are purchasing on the day the beta starts (although I don’t see why you shouldn’t), but perhaps if you apply the code quick enough before the actual start time of the event, you might have them.
If they don’t appear, I would contact support and give as much information about your pre-purchase and see if they can upgrade you to beta access on the Friday (as I don’t think support work as much during weekends).
Yes.
As soon as you apply the purchased code to your account, you will be eligible for everything; pre-purchase bonuses (including deluxe/ultimate items if you bought that one) and access to all upcoming beta weekend events.
I don’t think you will see a beta slot appear instantly, but check on August 7th-10th to see if you are given 4 beta character slots at the main menu character select. If not, then contact support.
Yes; we are getting new legendary weapons, and the first legendary backpiece.
“With the approach of summer and our pending return to Lion’s Arch, it’s time to clean house a bit and put a few things into storage. The Wintersday weapon set will be removed from vendors in one week, and the following items will no longer be regularly available in the Gem Store until next fall.
-Krytan Armor Skins"
So it is very likely that skin will be returning Fall 2015.
Yes.
You just won’t have access to some of the features that are being introduced with the expansion, such as:
-Masteries
-Two of the new PvP Heroes
-Adventures
-Story
-Elite Specializations
-And others
Only time will tell.
To be honest, we don’t even know how weighted the back piece will be; they do say that it will involve doing things inside and outside of fractals:
“A guide will appear in Mistlock Observatory to help point players in the direction of new types of challenges, timed boss encounters, and collections of items to obtain both inside and outside of the fractals.”
So as to how each of those elements are weighted, we don’t know. For all we know, there could be only 5 elements to the back piece that require doing things within a fractal, and then 2,500 other things that we have to do outside of a fractal. It could even already involve doing things in other game modes, such as WvW or PVP.
As for whether or not there might be future legendary backpieces found through other means, I find it almost certain, but that is my optimistic thinking.
The originality and departure from traditional MMOs.
“In this category, you’ll find the original fractal achievements along with a number of new ones that require significant group coordination or even require you to be playing at higher difficulty scales to complete.”
Sounds like they are staying.

I have occasionally seen the error when opening the Trading Post in-game before, but with the most recent patch it has become much more common.
Although, refreshing the page usually solves it.

It has been a feature suggested numerous times before.
Unfortunately there is no real “build save” system in place, but the game will remember what build your character was last equipped with whenever you enter PvP, WvW or regular PvE and will automatically change your build back to that. So, some of the functionality is there, but it would be nice to have a truly customisable “build save” system.
I don’t know this for fact, but I reckon all players will have access to the new level fractals. What I believe you won’t have access to is the “Fractal Mastery Track” that we don’t yet have information about. Further, the new legendary backpiece tied to fractals will be for expansion purchasers only:
“Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns players will now have the option of starting a new journey…a legendary journey.”
I must caution again that I don’t know all of this for fact; I am only assuming on some points.
Well, green names indicate allies, and blue names indicate party members.
If everyone on a particular server was suddenly given a certain coloured name tag, that would cause more confusion than it is worth.
All quaggans I know were recently given jumping animations.
Also see this reddit thread.
Not the first to suggest this and certainly not the last:
Here and here are two examples.
I doubt the cap will ever be removed as it adds to the illusion of more “dailies” which subtly makes players more likely to log in each day (I definitely stretched that too far). But read those two threads for other discussions on the topic.
Hmm, I completed this about a week ago and it worked completely fine, so it might have been with the most recent update.
Best to submit a bug report in-game, that gives the best chance that a developer will respond to the bug as opposed to posting a report here on the forums.
I presume you are talking about the “Ruins” system?
I have to agree to some degree, currently the ruins system is lacking; it is somewhere at the half mark between the old orb system’s balance issues and something that would be ideal.
Of course, remember that the Alpine map is being removed with Heart of Thorns and replaced with the Desert map (which does not contain “ruins”, but instead “shrines” which will give bonuses to local keeps) so it will be quite pointless to focus resources into changing the “ruins” system.
20-30 a side? instead of the old cap of 80-100 each (and the early days when they were talking about 500 a map..lols).
Hyperbole doesn’t help; I reckon the current cap is between 60-90.
Every public test, beta weekend or event always has an element of advertising to it. This is nothing new.
As for your thought that this is not a stress test, it still is a stress test; they will be packing the servers with the number of players they expect to be using the map during a matchup for WvW. If they find that there is too much lag during the stress test, they can reduce the player cap (which is what they have done for the current maps). Further, any bugs that are encountered will be identified and might be fixed.
It is still a stress test.

I find it more likely that any timed aspect of the jumping puzzles will be in relation to the “Adventures” that are possibly associated with them (i.e. completing a certain jumping puzzle as fast as possible).
Although, as previous puzzles do have timed aspects, I won’t hesitate to disregard that they might be a feature of one or two new puzzles in the expansion.
Saying “I want…” makes the suggestion seem a little more like a whiny demand, so you might want to rephrase.
Otherwise, the Crystal Desert has been a greater possibility as a result of Season 2 and Glint’s Lair being featured, and if we are going after the Elder Dragons, it would make perfect sense to be included for the Kralkatorrik release. I can’t comment on the others as I haven’t yet ventured there in GW1.
Lower fractals will remove more stacks per second when she is standing in the lightning field, as opposed to higher level fractals which will remove fewer.
Are you sure you weren’t just in a high level fractal and weren’t used to the Mai Trin fight at that level?
I think all chat colours should be customizable in the options settings. That would solve all issues here; those that want to change the colours, and those that want them to remain the same.
It should incorporate any new items brought into the loot tables with the expansion. I say this as that is what happened with champion bags left until the spirit shard release. Bags that were looted before that update, but opened after the update dropped rewarded spirit shards as opposed to scrolls of knowledge.
Although of course, I am only speculating, I don’t know for certain.
There have been several suggestions over the years for how Anet can help with the DC problems, look at my signature for an example. I think it is safe to assume that the random disconnects are something that Anet won’t be able to solve, so the least they can do is help make those disconnects less infuriating by allowing something like a grace period, or a better queue system for maps.
“The “Full” threshold is slightly different than the other ones because it doesn’t have an upper limit. So some servers can be just slightly above the threshold and marked “Full”, and some other servers might be well over it, and also marked “Full”, even though their populations aren’t really balanced.
The intent is that since you can’t join or transfer to a “Full” server, their populations are going to diminish over time, until eventually they reach “Very High” again. At this point, all “Full” servers are going to be balanced. This won’t be right away, though, since we’re not kicking anyone out of their servers."

4. A bit of a revamp of the drops since it takes literally ages to build a legendary.
Don’t forget we will also be able to acquire precursors with Heart of Thorns through an achievement collection rather than pot luck or great expense.
Also, the expansion is a little cheaper at some retailers at the moment, so search through the official retailer list and check the stores near you to see if they are any cheaper (e.g. Amazon UK has the basic edition up for £19.90 at this moment of writing).
Edit: It is no longer at £19.90.

Currently, no, only online through the internet.
No.
Season 2 can only be purchased through the Gem store, you can’t unlock it any other way unfortunately. Of course, you can group up with someone and run the episodes with a player that has them unlocked (but you won’t get any of the achievements). Also, if you buy the ultimate edition, you can use the 4,000 gems you earn to buy the complete Season 2.
I think that message is better suited to say or map chat, there aren’t any WvW zergs in these forums.
The players that do that are likely the players that don’t read the forums, so if it is truly annoying you, type something in say chat when it occurs or whisper the player(s).
They can’t be banned for it, but if you explain to them exactly why pulling the mobs into the field is useful, then they will likely learn something and not do it as often.
The new AA options are currently not available as they have not been flagged to be online for the main servers.
“This is being addressed. Looks like the UI was flagged for internal only.”
Yes, they do.
Have you tried cancelling the current episode in your journal? I think if you cancel whatever episode that character is on, it should remove the text in the top right.
Edit: Of course, most players’ journals are broken right now, so I can’t test it.
Any chance you can post a screenshot for where you found these settings? There are quite a number of players that are having trouble locating it.
Some players have 1,000, perhaps upwards of 10,000 spirit shards currently. So if something like this were implemented, the exchange rate would have to be significant, otherwise people would be rolling in tomes (well, some already are).
I thought you were joking at first. now i have lost all respect for A-net for not even knowing their own game. GG..
That’s a bit of a reckless statement. I find it more likely that they used the GW1 map because they don’t have an empty updated map of GW2 readily available, as I am sure they didn’t have long to create the cinematic. In the long run, Tyria is Tyria, and if something like that is what makes you lose all respect for Anet, well then…
The update some minutes ago has brought with it several bugs, so expect it to be patched soon (hopefully). Until then, try to work around it or wait.
Some suggestions do get through to Anet, so it is worth posting suggestions in the off chance they are implemented in some way. Aside from that, we have been told the developers do browse the forums on occasion, and stumbling across suggestions always gives ideas.
Of course, don’t expect every suggestion to be implemented.
An example of one that made it into the game is the Custom Mail Carrier.

Quite difficult to understand what you are saying.
If you are questioning why you have leftover hero points after having all of your skills and traits already, the elite specializations that come with Heart of Thorns will require those excess hero points, so don’t worry about them being used for nothing, they will become very useful with the expansion’s release.
If you haven’t completed the training tab but you already have all of the traits and skills, then that sounds like a bug to me. Although, do check that you do actually have all of your skills and traits unlocked (and not just the ones you currently have equipped) through the build tab.
Edit: Oh never mind, I had missed that an update had just happened.

Edit: Ok, so the retailer should give me a code before they send the physical box?
It varies depending on the retailer.
Some will only give you a serial code through your e-mail, and won’t sent any physical box/case at all. Others will send you a physical box/case with the code on a pamphlet inside the case.
With the example I gave you for Amazon UK; they should send a physical box/case with the code inside on a pamphlet, and you won’t be given the code any time prior through e-mail etc.
Also, do I really need to order from the UK to get a physical box? Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through to display my love for this game on a shelf.
The only official retailer Anet have given for the US is Gamestop, as to whether there are others I don’t know. And I think that the Gamestop edition is an online serial code only (though I may be wrong – I don’t live in the US so I can’t go to a local store to check).
So, have a look at the official retailer list and check their stores near you or online to see if they have anything.

There was an earlier thread discussing this over here.
Sorry if this was answered but I didn’t find it in my searching.
Is it possible to purchase a physical copy of HoT and still receive the pre-purchase bonuses? namely the free character slot?
Any purchase of the expansion, physical or digital, will reward the free character slot for ‘veteran’ players (having an account before January 23rd), and the additional items (including another slot) for the deluxe edition upwards.
Basically, you will be given a code when you the expansion from anywhere, and you use that code and apply it to your account to get the bonuses – all codes should give you the bonuses depending on what version of the expansion you paid for.
An example of where you can get the physical edition is from Amazon UK.

It has been suggested countless times, even years ago after it was first removed.
So it is quite likely that the vendor won’t be returning until SAB itself is reinstated as a whole, which will be some time after the release of Heart of Thorns.
could you please introduce Again the SAB ? Has Been left in half without any apparent reason , was a stupendous content now left to itself , I understand the amount of Employment in which you have to confront every day , but I think that a large slice of the user wants to see the return SAB because it is simply spectacular the most simple and ingenious idea you had and , in my opinion , one of the most beautiful content between all games on the market , in a trust describe your answer, thank you for the work you do and I hope you to collect my desire . Thank you so much.
Colin explained why SAB won’t be returning soon:
“Rinith’s reply is probably the closest description to the reality as of today where we stand with SAB. We’ve made a number of changes to the physics engine as a result of places like Silverwastes, Dry Top, and the expac that means we need to go back and re-work SAB to use all the new movement systems. It also needs a pretty solid rewards overhaul, and I know Josh would love to make some changes to world 2 before it returns.
We’re all focused on expansion – both the announced details, and the un-announced details and simply can’t peel anyone off a team to work on it right now without it effecting expac. The two SAB worlds we’ve seen will return as we’ve said before, but simply put our focus right now is on making the expansion amazing"
So when it does return, it will be after the release of Heart of Thorns.
“Also, because Season 1 of Living World was not built with the Journal in mind, it will not be available in the story Journal on initial launch when Season 2 begins. We do hope to add Season 1 to the Journal in the future.”
So it depends on whether or not they will find it profitable enough to rework it into the new journal’s format. Also keep in mind that the vast majority of Season 1 was for large-scale fights, as opposed to Season 2’s smaller group or solo based instances. So trying to remake Season 1 as solo or small group content will take a great deal of time.
I find it quite likely, but we won’t know until Anet say something through a blog post. I reckon it will be either through the druid blog post or a blog post about the new maps.
