I love jumping puzzles, in fact it was this game that made me love them. Once you get used to working with the camera for tight spaces, it shouldn’t bother you at all. However, you do have to first get used to it, so I understand everyone that has problems working with the camera.
With that said, there are only a couple that are mandatory to reach some vistas for map completion, but other than that they are entirely optional. Sure there are some achievement points, but those aren’t solely earned through jumping puzzles. If you love them, they are there waiting for you to complete. If you despise them, you can shrug the vast majority of them off of your shoulder.
Dungeons and Fractals are the main areas you will find hostile (or really just impatient) players. Often, dungeon LFG’s will have other little abbreviations, such as ‘10k+ ap’ meaning you must have over 10,000 achievement points to join them, or ‘zerk/meta’ meaning you should have full berserker gear otherwise they will kick you. It is simply players trying to get through the content as fast as possible, and his makes sure they have experienced players.
Similarly, it is quite unfortunate that there are a great deal of players that will kick anyone with a low amount of achievement points, simply because they think that player won’t contribute as much as someone with more achievement points, i.e. someone with more experience or better gear e.t.c.
However, that isn’t to say that there are also players that are very willing to group with any players to do dungeons, myself included, so I recommend you look for the LFG’s that are solely ‘p1’ or ‘p2’ or ‘p3’ and don’t have any extra requirements, as those are often the players that will accept anyone, or are even happy to teach new players on their first dungeon run.
As for the heart events LFG’s, I am clueless there as to why people would kick you – I’ve yet to see that kind of behavior, but I would expect that to be exceedingly rare.
Never bought gems with anything other than in-game gold – a lot of the fluff doesn’t seem worth real cash in my eyes.
Though, it is one of the reasons I am certainly buying the expansion, as Anet has given me 3,000 hours of entertainment for £50, it is about time I give them a little more.
Welcome to Tyria!
The preference is entirely up to you – whichever class you seem most interested, give it a whirl, you can always delete it or create a new character if you feel it isn’t right for your tastes!
Personally, I would take the Elementalist out for a swing; it has some great damage, very sufficient ranged attacks and has quite a lot of favour in dungeons for some of its skills. Of course I’m biased towards it as I love magic!
I don’t play Guardian too much, so I can’t comment much on that one – hopefully someone below me can shed some light on that profession!
Either way, have a go at all of the professions that you are interested in, they are all reasonably balanced and can easily teach you how this game works, and finally, have fun!
They thought for months on end about the specialisations and the theme / feel they should give. Druid fits in the Jungle theme. Chronomancer fits in the Jungle theme. Dragonhunter FITS IN THE JUNGLE THEME.
I fail to see how ‘Chronomancer’ fits in this ‘Jungle Theme’.

I agree on this, it’s extremely stupid. Another similar restriction is the “you’ve sent too many mails” warning that pop up after ~3 mails … why are they not doing anything about this
The mail restriction makes sense; it prevents gold spammers from sending a plethora of mail spam to hundreds of players before their account gets banned. With the restriction, that number is reduced to only a few players. The same goes for those players attempting to impersonate GM’s through mail.
As for the party restriction, I agree entirely that it should be looked into, and am having trouble thinking why it is there in the first place – perhaps just to prevent dungeon runners from giving up on their groups too often?
This scamming has been going on for a very long time – hence the previous update that put a message at the bottom of the mail saying that this was sent by a player, rather than an actual GM (still amazed the scammers don’t realize that change). Just report and move on, most players are smart enough to know it is fake, hopefully :P

Any chance of there being a mastery to prevent projectile destruction from the terragrif trails?
So far, nothing has been stated regarding Scrolls and Tomes of Knowledge. Hopefully, a developer will eventually state what will happen, or a future blog post might spill the beans, but I am quite confident that something from Anet will let us know what will happen (if anything) to scrolls and tomes before the change takes place.
Edit: Also, see this thread for a larger discussion – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/What-will-happen-to-scrolls-of-knowledge
As far as I can assume, of the 5 trait lines each class has, you will be able to choose 3 of them to max out completely, and can freely swap between these 3 choices at any time as the current system allows.
So yeah, you will be able to max out 3 lines entirely, but won’t be able to diddle into all 4/5 lines at once anymore, as far as I can assume – don’t quote me on that.
There are two vine events in south-western Brisban Wildlands (Toxal Bog) that must be completed in order to access Drytop. Once completed, the access to Drytop remains open for some time before the event resets and you have to do it again.
So I recommend hanging around south-western Brisban wildlands and seeing if an event is up to clear some vines. If not, then access should already be open.
No, it’s not better.
Or, it’s not better than the game I played before.
It looks better, it’s more female-friendly than the other game’s current xpac (visually speaking) and levelling is more fun, but it’s not fundamentally better.
In fact, it’s definitely worse.
All of which are subjective statements, and that is perfectly fine, but personally I have found it difficult to return to other MMO’s after experiencing this one, for all the reasons the OP stated.
I would recommend:
1. Test on a wekend, Sat-Sun, or Fri-Sat
As far as I can assume, most Anet employees don’t work on the weekend, and so it would not be wise to have a beta event on a day when there are fewer people to moderate it and fix any issues that arise as a result of it.
Tuesday has also been the long-term “patch day” for Guild Wars 2 for some time now, and makes sense as the most likely contender for a beta event as we can expect to have a larger patch this coming Tuesday where Anet can add a large amount of files they want us to test for the Stronghold map.
The event is 24 hours, most people should be free for at least 30 minutes to have a go at it if they so desire.
Took me until 2018MB for it to finally finish. Somehow seems a lot more than what some other people are downloading.
Here is a link to a reddit thread that was recently created to list all the guilds/communities that regularly defeat the wurm. Feel free to contact and get involved with any of them.

Entire soundtrack replaced by the same songs sung acapella by the the dev team. Poorly.
I would buy that OST twice.
There have been several large discussions on the topic, a good example with some developer interaction being found here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Any-progress-on-letting-us-replay-Season-1/first
Correct me if I am wrong, but I do recall a developer post stating that ANet are interested in making season 1 available through the story journal, but it would take a very long amount of time (Again, I may be mistaken in thinking this).
Especially with an expansion on the way, I wouldn’t expect to hear any mention of season 1 until several months after the expansion, perhaps more.
I only recently started playing through it without any prior knowledge to it. It takes some time to get used to, as mechanically it is very different to GW2, but I am thoroughly enjoying the content and story and seeing how it all ties to GW2. Definitely worth a play through. And not to mention the account link bonuses!
I don’t mind them being in the same section but I’d advocate putting the log in grid at the bottom. It’s large enough to be easy to scroll to, and not in need of constant checking; really more of a daily viewing. I’m used to checking my MF quickly, having the number below a scroll bar is annoying.
I agree with this entirely; the original information should remain at the top, as that is what most players would intend to look at when viewing the summary page. We don’t need to view the monthly rewards as much as we do the nearly/recently completed achievements and account bonuses.
It is good they have added the monthly rewards to be view-able more than once a day, but it could use some tweaking.
Because we all prefer combat where you have a hotbar of 40+ skills and mindlessly press one after the other while standing face to face with a mob without having to think of any other tactic. /sarcasm
I won’t say your opinion is wrong, but I much prefer the combat here than in any other MMO I have played.
Would you prefer there is no downed state and you simply die when your health reaches 0?
Would you rather not be able to dodge, and instead rely on a passive block/parry/evade/miss function?
Because there are a plethora of other games that have systems like these. Guild Wars is a unique exception, and I would love for it to stay that way.
You didn’t miss anything from that interview. They repeated everything they had said in the presentation and were even explaining some of the basic features of GW2 (not HoT). The only little piece of interesting information is that a playable demo of HoT will be at PAX East in 6 weeks.
Wipe that smile off of your face Miya!
See the attachments; self-explanatory.
Very nice catch from both videos. I wish they did more little things like these that happen randomly; really makes the world feel alive.
Had my first drop just over a week ago – my age currently is 2,361 hours. It was in Ascalonian Catacombs from the graveling champion bag after the spider queen.
It is an intriguing proposal, I don’t quite know where my view stands on it just yet. Will just have to wait and see the changes physically, but I hope there is still a reasonable method of acquiring laurels and mystic coins – the current method of 1 a day was consistent (excluding monthlies).
I would love to see a tequatl mail carrier. You already have his big swoop down animation in place One can always wish.
Great puzzle. Great exploration to get to the puzzle. Great atmosphere. Great revive mechanic to get back to the puzzle quickly. I hope to see more challenging and environmental puzzles like this in the future.
A little on the low side this patch seems. Story Journal achievements are very easy, not sure if the challenge mode is actually working. Only one achievement added to Silverwastes, and the maze is quite interesting, but won’t be likely to keep many entertained for 2 weeks.
Also, is anyone else having trouble extracting the ‘claw’ from each of the 4 Silverwastes bosses? Doesn’t look like the extraction devices work; they just give the tendon and spleen.
Just went and had a look, it still works. Make sure you are melee-ing him rather than ranging. After he lays the health stealing puddle, most times he will spawn 4 vines that will die on their own and drop the nectar.
For me, the living world. Yes it has its negatives, but it does have its positives, and I am very happy whenever a new release comes out, as the concept is still very unique to GW2 and has definitely given me a blast for the past year and a half.
Here’s to hoping we will be able to replay Season 1 at some point in the future.
It seems a little buggy at the moment. I managed to get it by solely mining the corpses without exploding all of them (It unlocked for me as soon as I mined the final corpse, without even completing having to complete the instance). So I assume one doesn’t need to explode them in order for it to count towards the achievement.
It has been done like that for a good while now, either since the beginning of this year or the start of Season 2, I forget which. Previously they released the ‘Release Pages’ a week beforehand, but they stopped doing that and began doing a trailer instead.
No. They aren’t going to fix it. I’m not going to stop asking for a dev post either.
There was a developer post, in the main thread that was discussing this. I will quote it here:
‘This bug has been reported and is currently under investigation. Thanks for your reports, everybody.’ ~Mark Katzbac

Why not do what you did for the World Vs World in-game score boards a while back; created a new main page while also keeping the older original page for those that liked to use it.
If not, then I would suggest to add a box to the bottom of each price list for gold:gems, and gem:gold where a player could input a custom amount they want converted, much like the older system. I just don’t think it is reasonable to have the lowest convertible amount be 400 gems when there are items available on the trading company that cost 25 gems.
Did not see why they needed to change it, but the old version definitely has to return – I want to be able to convert custom amounts, not fixed amounts.
There was no reason to remove the animation, and so there is no reason for them to not put it back in the game.
And, Chainsaw the Skeleton doesn’t exist to preview until you create him in the Mystic Forge, nor are these pets available on TP as they’re account bound, at least mine are.
‘Chainsaw the Skeleton’ is there, just without his chainsaws. Every mini is available for preview in the Hero panel.

I’m sorry, but seriously? That was it? Complete 5 events and that is your weeks’ worth of WvW tournament? Am I missing anything?
Tried the search feature, sadly it’s still an information black hole that doesn’t work too well. Anywho.
While we’re nearing the next feature packs, and generally feature packs are more to do with convenience and ease of use upgrades, I’d like to suggest 2 new additions to come about for the next pack, since it’s a bit too soon for any changes to it now, what with QA testing, bugs everywhere and such.
Sure this has been suggested numerous times but couldn’t find a thread about it to bump, probably in the old suggestions sections but of course it’s now a graveyard for archival.
~~~#1.~~~
Can we please have a numeric input box on each vendor’s UI screen so we can choose exactly how many of an item we want to purchase, certain items that you need to purchase to turn skillpoints and karma into gold nigh on give you carpal tunnel because you need to powerclick the buy button into oblivion.If this is implemented there will be less cases of carpal tunnel worldwide and world peace may ensue by not experiencing wrist pain. All it needs is a simple text input box next to the buy button at the bottom once an item is highlighted and allow you to enter between 1-250 (since 250 is the stack maximum)
Now, don’t get me wrong, something as simple as this is a bigger task to implement that it seems, you don’t just create the addition then suddenly all vendors have it, it would be a big task to have every single vendor given this addition, but overall I think it would definitely benefit the game greatly and lessen the tedium of grinding away to convert the skillpoints and karma to gold.
~~~~~~
Alt + Left Click on the vendor item I think (Edit: though now on second thoughts, I think I am wrong. If so, then yes, the suggestions is definitely needed).
~~~#2~~~
My last suggestion for now we be the implementation of the crafting input to the mystic forge. For instance, and this goes back to point #1, needing to forge together materials in order to earn gold is also sadly as tedious, if not more so due to needing to click all 4 individual materials, then forge, then back to clicking all 4 again.I propose an input similar to the craft system, whereby there is the numeric input option if you wish to craft a particular amount, or just hit craft all to use up all your materials. Same thing I’m asking for the forge, as long as all 4 materials are the same constantly, you should be able to set an amount to forge and let the system finish them off.
Of course this would not apply to forging that involves different materials each time, like throwing different rares/exotics into the forge. I’m talking about pure factory line forging of the same 4 base materials over and over.
~~~~~~
I agree entirely with the second suggestion, and I am sure it has been a long request by players.

See a recent thread that asked for similar things about Guilds:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/There-s-still-time-Feature-Pack-Sep-9/first#post4349384
I’ll quote my answer from there:
“Well, the next CDI starting up soon was announced to be about Guilds – and it specifically mentioned Guild vs Guild.
Half-way down page 21:

Here is the quote:
Hi All,
We will starting a CDI soon on…….Guilds.
It will be broken down into time boxed discussion sections such as Guild vs. Guild, Guild Activities, Managing Guilds, Guild Content etc.
I will update when I have more details on when we start. I am very much looking forward to it.
Chris"
The CDI is a discussion about a topic, in this case, Guilds. So it is likely we will see improvements to guilds at some point in the future, but that is just my calculation and opinion. I could well be wrong.

I have 87 baubles in my bank. I will never ever trash those little pixelated treasures. And the World 1 Boom Box is the best store purchase I ever made – if only I had also bought the World 2 Boom Box.
The marionette fight was my favourite of the bosses from Season 1; it was fun to organize, and even more fun to play through. I would definitely be glad to see it return at some point in the future, whether as a fractal boss, or as a triggered event.
Actually, it’s obvious from the reaction of the player base.
Entire Guilds quitting, people leaving the game. Uproar on the forums.
The number of people who are happy with this game are in the minority.
It is not obvious to me
It is a common thing to see Guilds and players quitting in any MMORPG, and then new guilds and players arrive to replace them. And uproar on the forums is certainly characteristic of any MMO forum out there, from birth to death.
If you really claim that the majority of players are unhappy, post the facts with evidence rather than statements of opinion.
10/10, ANet should have the video embedded in the Commander blog.
You can find a summary of Season 1, including some descriptions about who the NPC’s you are playing with are, on the wiki page here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_season_1
Further, there isn’t currently any way to replay any parts of Season 1 of the Living World, but it is possible that in the future, ArenaNet will add all the story of Season 1 into the new ‘Story Journal’ and allow all players to experience what occurred during Season 1 (likely, but not certainly, with a small gem fee to unlock if you had not logged in during some parts of Season 1), but currently, there is no way to experience/play it.
Dear ArenaNet,
I think it’s pretty clear by now: your community is losing faith in you.
Don’t know what community you’re thinking of. I still have a great amount of faith in ArenaNet and have enjoyed all of their updates thus far. I am quite confident in saying that a large majority of the playerbase have also enjoyed them.
