The problem is simply the healing signet. It is too strong.
The problem is not thieves or stealth. It’s the downed state itself. It’s a stupid mechanic that shouldn’t exist.
So the moral of the story is: don’t join a bad guild?
If it’s the same kinds of rewards as season 1: NO.
Warrior isn’t the best all around class. Guardians are.
They are the most balanced. How can they be the bests?
Balanced means they’re in the middle.
Another overflow nightmare in the making

The problem with Anet’s overflow events is the scaling.
For instance the marionnette: if you arrive a little late (but still before the beginning of the event) you are guaranteed to end up in an overflow with only a few people and then you don’t even stand a chance because you don’t have enough people to fill the warden platforms.
1. Guardian
2. Mesmer
3. Engineer
Yeah, regular WvW maps seem boring to me now.
I still feel there’s too much zerging, though. It’s missing several smaller objectives, away from towers and forts.
The only issue I have is because the EOTM is on a short timer and you can easily dive between overflows its turned into the “who cares” map. You yell out that the keep is getting taken and all of a sudden its responses of “who cares, we will take it back shortly”.
You forget that taking an objective gives more rewards than defending. So yeah, if the enemy is attacking what’s yours, you might as well just take another objective during that time and then go back later.
they probably jump before engaging in combat.
If they’re good enough or far enough to stay out of combat, I don’t see where the problem is. In regular WvW maps you can also TP to spawn to avoid a fight you know you’re gonna lose.
If they’re in combat and jump, you still get the kill and the loot anyway.
“without paying 20 euros/100 gold”
What is ArenaNet’s goal? Obviously, it’s not to make a good game. What they want is make money. If you really want to play together, switch server. That’s what ArenaNet wants.
If there are enemies in front of you and you still choose to cross the bridge to get to them, it’s your fault if you fall…
Stop crying, get farming temporary achievements for 6hours a day. I think thats what Anet wants us to do so their metrics look better
Basically, this.
They want people to play longer and more often (preferably every day). The dailies, the time gating, the RNG, the jump in weapon and armor tier… everything has been thought to make us play more.
When she went into the cude Primordus managed to get in her head. He’s been whispering her what to do in order to free him.
Guild Wars 2: Disney Edition
If at some point the bigger zergs go back to the regular WvW maps, then EOTM could be a good map for people who want smaller scale fights.
The detail is really good (like the hammer) but the glowing pink heart kills it for me.
They couldn’t get into EotM and were told to check their internet connection or their firewall.
Not enough waypoints. Too much running.
Also, I hate that Zerging is still the most effective way to play.
Way to big map for only 2 WP’s. After several wipes you’re just tired to waste time on runnin.
^This.
The 2 WP’s are far to close together as well.
Its boring spending 95% of the time running from A to B to C, only to miss the fight completely most of the time.
If they only wanted 2 WP’s, should have put 1 at spawn other near centre.
Agreed.
And to think this map has been tested by several guilds for months.
What the hell where they doing? How did this get past them?
I’m disappointed that it’s still Zerg > all.
The problem is that since people know the exact start time, they know when to go camp the map beforehand. If for some reason you arrive 20 minutes before, it’s already too late and you’re in overflow. One time, even one hour before, the map was already in overflow.
Just remove the whole dredge champion fight. It is unnecessary.
It’s not a DDoS if you approximately know how many people are going to connect and you can prepare your infrastructures for it. Anet’s people know how many accounts they have. They most likely have statistics about how many people connect every day of the week, including patch day.
I’m not saying kitten can’t happen (like somebody tripping on a cable) but to me it seems they weren’t prepared.
Well now I can’t even get into Lion’s Arch lol.
Anybody able to access the EotM map?
We’re just stuck on loading.
yeh why should i have to think before i invest my points, pffft
WvW
point retrait!ability point reallocation >_>
It’s not like you can retrait in combat. If you choose wrong you have to go to the trainer/master and pay for the reset. You still have to choose wisely.
Why do people act like death in this game is such a horrible thing? Oh no!!! You got killed! Bring some guild members/friends and take care of business.
You ever been stuck at your spawn because the other team has 100 players and yours has 50?
There should be a way to reset traits I think. Even if it’s somewhat costly as to avoid manipulation (stuff like: “oh, we’re going for golem rush now, let me retrait quickly” should be avoided).
Maybe be able to retrait once per month.
I still don’t understand what’s so bad about re-traiting whenever we want.
In PvE you can re-trait for a specific role or for a specific dungeon. What’s the difference with WvW? It can’t be unfair since all teams would be able to do it. So I don’t really get it.
Think of enemies in WvW as champion mobs with variable AI.
That’s dangerously close to “Don’t think of them as people”.
I know that wasn’t your intention, but still that’s slightly disturbing.
Besides they won’t drop champ boxesIts basically true.
Enemy players in PvP are no different than PvE mobs as far as the game mechanics are concerned. Besides being more difficult to kill than your random walking loot bags in PvE. There is a reason Anet doesn’t openly display character names in WvW.
Point is the marionette has and will kill more players than the EoTM griefers for the next LS event.
Champions can’t taunt you. They also can’t farm you in front of your spawn just for fun because they have more people.
I always say the guardian is a jack of all trades, master of none. Whereas the warrior is a specialist.
The thing is, the warrior keeps getting better, while the guardian is stagnant because “it is the most balanced class”. Even in their videos, the devs always look super bored when they talk about the guardian.
1) The event takes place in a low level map, therefore you have low level people participating. They have no idea what to do. They may even not know how to play their class correctly.
2) If you go to the map too late you end up in overflow, sometimes with not enough people per lane.
3) Some people just don’t read what we tell them.
4) Some people get disconnected while loading the wardens. Leaving some platforms almost empty.
5) The “can’t attack bug” or “can’t switch weapon” bug may occur. I got both several times.
6) Some commanders don’t communicate at all. They’re here just for their tags and that’s it. They stay silent the whole time.
It doesn’t take a “pro” player to rez somebody that is downed next to you.
It doesn’t take a “pro” player to follow instructions for the wardens like “don’t run away”.
So yeah, I do blame other players.
I also blame Anet for designing the platforms. There’s obviously a bug disconnecting some people when loading, otherwise we wouldn’t have full platforms and some with only 2-3 players on them. This is happening ALL THE TIME.
And I also blame Anet either for using servers that can’t handle more people or for even trying to have open world raids when they know very well what the overflow system will do (leave some people stranded on overflows with not enough people to do the event).
The no mob respawn bug is back.
Some people just don’t want to do what you tell them. They probably don’t even read the map chat.
I think this is bugged in some way.
I have an SSD so load in straight away, I dodge whatever mari does and stay unhit for the whole event, and finish the event (cut the chain) successfully, and nothing happens.
Many, many times.
All lanes.
All I’ve done over the past week is run Mari – and I still have none of these dodge achieves.
Did all 5 platforms manage to kill the warden and destroy the generators?
It seems some people don’t even know how to rez downed players. We’re already a week in and several platforms still fail because for some reason they let downed players die without even moving to try to rez them. I don’t think they’re gonna listen to anything you tell them. Commander or not.
Anet should just buy servers than can handle more people.
If they want open world events instead of instanced, they need to allow more people to be on the same server at the same time. Otherwise it just turns into Overflow Wars 2 like for the marionnette.
Now that you mention it, I’ve been teleported into the marionette’s stomp attack before. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s possible to die before the loading screen finishes.
Yes it is possible. Especially if you have a slow hard drive. It seems it is also possible to get disconnected on load, hence the situations where you end up with one platform with 2 people on it while all the others have 5.
Try it with a little more tact, like:
‘Folks, when the boss starts throwing mines, you have to lure him into them. Dodging towards the boss helps a lot! Also remember to ress whenever possible!’
You think tact makes a difference?
If a person doesn’t rez a guy that is one feet away from him asking “rez”, you think he’s going to rez him if you say “please”? Really?
This just proves open world raids do not work in GW2. The whole overflow system does not work. I have no idea why Anet is still going with this. It seems as long as the people on the main server can do it, they consider it a good event.
They should either switch to some kind of instanced raid system or get better servers that can handle more people.
According to Josh Foreman they are, but if players disconnect on load or waypoint on death it may give the impression that they were distributed wrongly.
So that means there’s a bug making people disconnect on load.
How can we expect to win with an arena with one guy inside?
Sometimes all boss arenas are full except for one with 1 or 2 guys, sometimes nobody. Was that on purpose? Why not distribute equaly between the arenas?
Having to rely on a bunch of strangers =/= difficulty.
Here’s a solution with even more brevity and ease.
Go do something else (I do hotjoins, for example.) But you could probably squeeze a dungeon run in, or level an alt, or do some pvp in wvw. The instant gratification in this player base is startling.
Then you end up in overflow with 30 people.
On my server we’ll never get 100 people lol.
The elitism is strong in this boss event.
The simple fact that you have to be invited to the correct overflow server is prooof enough. And then there’s the elitists in this thread saying it’s ok if a content is only doable by 10% of the players.
(edited by Zanshin.5379)
Pretty sure it’s gonna be 2 weeks because they said there were only 3 living stories update left for scarlet. Next LS february 4th (after we deafet the marionnette, so the current achievements shouldn’t be available anymore), then 18th (defeating Scarlet). Then class balancing update march 4th.
We beat marionette on a seafarer rest overflow just 4-6hours after release. Its not that hard.
It’s hard when you don’t have enough people.
