I dunno. I always wanted to try it but most players who rp just take it way to seriously at times to where I can’t just have fun with it. I like being silly but for some reason, others don’t want to be around a character who is kind of a joker. Hell, even this game’s personal story has comedic characters so why can’t I be one? lol anyways that is why I just explore TC on my own now…
Just create a bank alt.
Seriously. It’s not that hard to create a new alt and plant him at Rata Sum. Most of the items there you won’t even use for a long period of time, like all your BL kits, 10 Pollas (srsly?), or BL tools.
This isn’t about creating more inventory spaces. It’s about inventory management.
Creating a bank alt is not how “I” play, I don’t believe in bank alts taking up space.
lolwut? You have options. Use them :P
Your fault if you don’t want to.
There is a player on Tarnished Coast that trades goods almost every single day in LA map chat … over many months this player has developed a rock solid reputation as a straight shooter and honest trader. Although I have never traded with this person, some of my guildies have, and they have nothing negative to say. And some of these transactions were for hundreds of gold in exchange for unique weapons.
Basically, if you are going to “barter” with someone 1 on 1, then you need to deal with people like the one I just described. Otherwise you have no one to blame but yourself if you get scammed.
I’m pretty sure the OP did NOT do his homework before dealing with whoever took his gold and ripped him off. Oh well, ZERO sympathy from me. None. In fact, it may have been a good object lesson for the OP, not only for this game, but for life in general.
I just want to add that even if someone has a good reputation, it does not mean that there is a 0% chance that they will scam you. Another life lesson
There is always a risk.
It sucks but this is your fault :P
I can’t pick just one thing so…
WvW, combat, and the exploring
I play with myself mainly on weekends.
We don’t need to know when you play with yourself.
^
NOT an MMORPG.
Of course it’s a MMORPG.
Do you know why no one stopped to play with you after the event ended?
Because no one wanted to.
MMORPGs give people the option of playing with others. This does not mean people want to play with others all the time, or even most of the time.
I often see forumers demanding ArenaNet to make grouping with other players a requirement. Which is rather ironic – those demands come from forumers who don’t understand that people don’t want to play with them, and whose complaints are basically a way to try to force people to play with them.
Yeah bro, no one wanted to play with me…
That has to be it.
What should I have done in a zerg, that no one speaks to eachother in, has no damage meter, tanking or healing; to stand out as Rudolph the kittening Reindeer?
I’m in a guild, I have run zergs with them too, we just banter but run as our own zerg. Is that what you mean?
Not an MMORPG.
So guilds dont’ get together to WvW in numbers? That sounds a whole lot like an MMORPG to me.
When my guild does guild missions with 15-30 people at the same time, that’s not an MMO?
Maybe you should look MMO up online, I’m not sure it means what you think it means.
It means exactly what I know it means. Zergs are a snorefest. The outdoor (PVE/WvW) ‘grouping’ system in this game is nice, but all we do is safely DPS, until the mobs and boss are dead! The dungeon system is on a third party website, so no one even looks for groups in game anymore.
MMOs are about standing out for your effort, networking, being helpful and learning to play.
I started this hobby in EQ1. Played AO along side of EQ1 (actually met my wife there in that awful grouping system, that gave MMOs instances and flight) and EnB after that where guilds and grouping were very coordinated. Played FFXI for years too, but that was a bit over the top… And, of course WoW from launch, mostly raid healing or DPS.
This system is a hyper-casual, zergfest. It’s not an MMO. So much is lost in translation from old MMOs to what we have now. Old school was too grindy and painful, I spent 2 months grinding lv40 in EQ1@KFC. Yes, that was over the top. The current version of MMOs, need a new name. It’s single player, it’s boring, it’s grindy and it’s killing the genre.
A balance must be struck.
No
I wish you could transmute the pirate town clothes. That would be neat.
1,800 gems is why…
@ astral , there are ppl who want to rep 100% , its very disheartening to see in your guild when trying to organise a fun event or group run, and at least like over 10 ppl not repping, whats the point in joining the guild if ur just going to be another most of the time
I have already said there is a big difference between staying in one guild because you want to, and staying because you would be punished otherwise. The people who want to rep 100% will not leave even if there will be no rule.
And for the people that rep other guilds… They are in your guild because it offers them something they want. They rep other guild, because that other guild offers them something they want that your guild is not able to give them. In the case of repping guilds that “something” is usually team spirit and cameraderie. And that’s something you cannot enforce.
TL/DR: If there are members of your guild that keep representing other guilds, the problem usually does not lie in those people, but in your guild.
I was going to explain my reasons but this sums it up pretty well for me :P
I have not found a guild that I really like so I level my character, explore, and do wvw on my own :P I enjoy it.
But… that is what a guild is for. Alright I can’t help ya then.
Back to the topic… I would not. I doubt it because of having the option of getting gems with gold (which I do a lot). I also would not be comfortable with dropping 200 bucks on a single game. Nah, not me.
Well you already said it. Join a guild. Go on the guild forums or just ask in map chat. You will end up in a guild in the same day. Problem solved.
Happened to me in southsun. I had a nice time with some calm music as I swam through the endless waters and watched the entire island from below :P
i don’t know..im always skeptical with posts like these, for whakittens worth i hope you have a good life, i just think its kinda strange how in your letter you ask people to please not contact the people who you feel have hurt you but then give their exact tag.
^ Pretty much this, but I will bite and just say hopefully that things somehow work out for ya.
lol gambling addiction
Woah thanks. I think I have some sort of idea of what to do then. Maybe staff and greatsword with a build that focuses on toughness maybe? Since I am always with a zerg I guess I will mostly just be tagging rather than killing :P I hope I have some idea of what I am doing lol
I am not a very skilled player but I do my best in wvw. I always stay with a group and use the greatsword and the sword/focus. I hear a ton of bad things about the staff but was hoping that somebody has found it useful in wvw. I wanted to use a staff instead of the sword/focus and was wondering if anybody has any tips or builds maybe that include the use of the staff.
Over 9000…….
x.x
Well you still have a huge amount of gold so….. yeah…
Just like in real life, if making a lot of money was easy we’d all be rich. Also, if someone had some magic way of making a ton of money, do you honestly think they’d come here and share their secret? If everyone harvested something worth a lot of money, there would be in influx of it on the market, which in turn would drop the value – ending their money making scheme.
Here’s a tip though, if you want money fast, buy gems and convert them into coin.
The first and last sentence contradict each other. Oh and since this is not real life and is a game, it is easy to make money and everyone can easily be rich. (there are many things that can prevent you from being rich in real life but in this game it is either because of time or laziness). Farm some dungeons or bosses, buy t6 mats with laurels and sell em, buy gems, and so on. Seems pretty easy to me :P
Haters and fan boys are going to infest every game. The real problem is the people who give them the attention they desire.
The best thing to do is use the forums to discuss issues and how they can be resolved in the future to improve the game. Instead of arguing if the game is good or bad, discuss how it can be better and ignore the trolls.
I agree. GW2 has it’s flaws (like every game), but this is the only MMO that I was happy to pay for. I have never enjoyed an MMO as much as this one. Long live GW2
Where is my Seiran Plush Backpack?
Charr are easy to stuff, whereas Sylvari are made out of wood so wouldn’t be very plushy.. Wouldn’t make a bad shield though.
lol
Yeah I guess I can’t hide forever but the grenade kit is a death sentence for me. I really like how players use the bomb kit though and that means getting up close and personal :P
Thank you. I have a much easier time with the bomb kit and I do like using the toolkit so that is really great.
I like to follow the commander most times because most players can easily kill me 1v1. So I guess that means that I like to be with medium to large groups.
Edit: Whoops, originally had put bomb kit. I mean the grenade kit >.<
I am not a skilled player so you can probably guess that I was demolished in this dungeon many times. It is fun to have content where everyone has to keep planning new ways to overcome the challenges.
Are there good wvw builds that do not require using the grenade kit? I really enjoy my engineer but I am not skilled with the manual targeting that is required for the grenade kit.
If there are, I would appreciate any tips or builds that I can use to be effective in wvw.

Is this an “I am quitting” thread?
Anywho……………………….. :P
It would be interesting to get a response from one of the staff as to their intentions with the ranger. Maybe I missed that thread? idk
A lil under 900. I can’t think of any excuse or lie as to why though lol. I just like this game :s
I don’t know what the hell you mean with the whole american pie thing (the movie?), but try finding a larger guild maybe. Odds are that there will be more active players at a time who will be chatting it up and things. For the whole loyal and helping eachother out kind of stuff, idk what to tell you there.
I like being considered a casual player. Even though I play a lot, I will never be able to get a legendary, will never EVER be able to get 100% map completion, and I will never be able to experience everything this game has to offer. I am okay with that though because the game feels new to me every time I turn it on. I am okay with “hard core” gamers I guess, but I just don’t want them to pressure the developers into changing GW2 into something that it is not. I love GW2 for how it is trying to be.
Well I am using multiple characters and I can’t transfer.
Ranger. Rocks in pve and wvw.
gtfo… Jk but in all seriousness, how about instead of asking for gear grinding in this game (which I am against), you try a different game that has it already. Players like me like this game without it and the game should not be changed in such a way to satisfy your need for that. Let Guild Wars be it’s own game.
lol You don’t need ANET to tell you that it is your fault for taking such a risk. The best way to deal with this type of situation is to not do it at all and stick to regular ways of handling transactions.
There is also this thing where if you take falling damage and then immediately go down any sort of slant or stairs, then you will constantly take major damage no matter how short the fall was. I jumped onto a set of stairs today and as I ran down each step, I continually took on a ton of damage until I reached the bottom step :s (I did not fall down the stairs, I ran)
Ahh, I can make sense of that. The game is treating it as a tumble, if for example you started falling down a cliff face and you hit the slant of it and kept sliding down you would take damage with each new hit. So it’s pretty much treating it as if you’re tumbling down the stairs :P
^ Exactly what I mean

Also happened on a hill

Gotta wonder what they smoking while making these houses… It is funny though
It might have been merged
No, was definitely deleted. Got a notification saying thread was moved to “Trashcan”
dunno why but that made me lol
Thank’s alot Anet, making the game even worse for us. Who was on drugs when they thought of this stupid idea?
I gotta agree. This was a pretty stupid idea :P
So yeah dungeons, wvw, and all that good stuff. I would also like to be able to get help when I see things like the priest of melandru with half his health and nobody around to finish him off :P
If there is a guild out there that is social, helpful, and patient with those who are trying to learn, then lemme know
Oh and I am on Gate of Madness and currently rolling an 80 guardian :P
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an MMO ever claim they are 100% bot free
There will always be bots. People will always find ways to do it. The best we can do is report and move on.
