Your mother's IQ is so low...

Your mother’s IQ is slow low that she doesn’t even know how to crossthread a micronfluxcapacitor multiphasic unit with a simple dimatrix array power inversion unit equipped with a subsonic alpha wave modulation circuit.

I mean, how human do you have to be not to realize that a simple recalibration of the carbohypothermic intake valve release frees up the injection array subprocessing unit so that it can combocalculate the exact reverberation of the magic stream inversion coil.

::eyeroll::

what a dolt.

Why crossthread it when you can simply multicrossthread it. Also the dimatrix array power inversion has been outdated by the new trimatrix array power inversion which has an exponentially better power inversion capacity. You don’t even need the subsonic alpha stream inversion coil at all, in fact it was proven to slow down the process by tenfold with the new trimatrix array.

There is no need to combocalculate, that’s just wasting your iterations. Simply take a quantum nucleic phasitron and adjust it to entwine into the array. You can get rid of the entire coil and intake valve.

Seriously… who taught you this stuff?

Your mother did.

But at least SHE knows that a trimatrix array is incompatible with a decahedron infusion dynamo which is WHY the subsonic alpha stream inversion coil needs to be linked up to the megaflux protocore of the temporal energy capacitors.

Seriously, the quantum nucleic phasitron is untested technology bordering on mere MECHANICS. We covered that in first level progeny class. At least your mother’s IQ isn’t so low as to miss THAT.

You might as well swap the unitron projection processor for introflux capacitration multiplier. We all got taught in second level that combocalculation takes no more than a 0.00003812312432^16 nanosecond longer to iterate the output figures than a intake-less power inversion unit. Why remove something that frees up magic for the thermokenetic hydraulic system?

I wonder what the above two Asura think of the young Asura lady who just wants to move to Lion’s Arch and sell baked goods…

False…again

I have been on multiple servers an seen plenty of players.

Just don’t know or get what ppl mean when they ask about population.

There are lots of factors which could influence an individual player’s perception of a world being crowded. Are they playing at the server’s optimal gametime, for instance? If someone is from SE-Asia and they’re playing on a US server, chances are they’ll be online when most American players are asleep, so their impression will be that most of the server is dead. Alternatively, are they a PvE player in a server that primarily has PvP/WvW gamers? If so, again they’ll find barely anybody while out and about because everybody else is doing a different activity on the server. Nonetheless, the higher the server’s base population, the better chance you’ll have of finding other players doing the same activity as you.

As to your second question, it could mean one of two things. The first is the server’s “listed” population, as indicated by the “Full/High/Medium/Low” designation beside the server’s name when you are choosing a World to move to. However, all this indicates is the number of accounts that currently have that server as their Home World; it is not necessarily a true reflection of how many players are active on that server.

Usually when people talk about high pop servers, they are asking for servers with a high ACTIVE population. Of these, Tarnished Coast is the only one I have personal experience of, which has a listed population of “Full” and has one of the most active player bases across both PvE and WvW (don’t do PvP so I have no idea how active people are there).

I wouldn’t mind the level cap being increased if all it did was give players more trait points to spend and a higher stat base in PvE. Item levels could remain capped at 80, and any players going into WvW get downscaled back to level 80.

5 characters. Human Mesmer, Norn Ranger, Asura Elementalist, Charr Warrior and Sylvari Necromancer, all of whom are currently level 75. I love them all equally.

My Mesmer tends to have the most trouble as I’m using a weapon/playstyle that isn’t top-tier, but I still have fun with her. My Charr and Norn more or less facerolled their way through PvE, and Asura and Sylvari had some trouble at earlier levels, but now there’s little they can’t handle.

Players have basically migrated to a few top/high population servers. If you are on one of these servers, you will lots of people, all the time. I’m an Australian playing on Tarnished Coast; on my weekends during the US daytime, maps are packed FULL of players. Even on my weekday evenings, a time when most US players are sleeping, there’s still bound to be about 10 – 20 players in any given map.

If you are one of the other Med-Low pop servers, you’ll probably have the exact opposite experience.

Evil Pact condem the Krait to Death!

in Personal Story

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

250 years is a long time, concerning the growth of culture. Especially since the krait were forced into a much more confined and volatile area after Orr was risen and their old habitats destroyed. Culture can possibly form and be shaped through continued conflicts with and outside pressure from other cultures.

Indeed it can, but there needs to be some kind of existing culture and the necessary intellect to have formed a complex social structure for the society to adapt in response. As I mentioned earlier, the krait were shown lacking either of those back in EotN. It just feels to me that the krait in GW2 are more like the Naga under a different name.

You realize that in a span of just 66 years we went from the Wright Bros first sucessful airplane flight lasting only seconds to going into outer space and landing on the moon, right?

Technological development can occur a lot faster than cultural and religious development, because the former does not always necessitate changes to the latter two. I did say that it’s possibly that the krait simply borrowed or stole their metallurgy and toolmaking skills from the other races, but going from a collection of savage, animalistic predators living in the jungle to an organised, intelligent race with a race-spanning religion is a whole different order of magnitude. As I mentioned above, ANet should have named the GW2 krait the Naga instead.

Therefore, I support your first option in that all Champions that are not linked to an Event should be changed to Veterans, and such Veterans should only be present when they are guarding something valuable, like a Rich Vein or a chest.

6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?

in Lore

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

You know, I don’t get the notion that the kodan are “too like the norn” at all.

I’m assuming that was in response to my post. Culturally and religiously, yes, the Kodan are as different from the Norn as can be. However, in terms of character tropes, they occupy a similar niche to the Norn (as I said, large, imposing, physically powerful beings that dwell in cold/arctic regions). The Norn are already there for characters who want to create “hulking berserkers”, “stoic frontiersmen” or “wise shamans”.

And if the Tengu do end up being the next playable race as many of us expect, the Tengu will fill the role of the honorable, tradition-bound race which the Koda also touch on.

ANet based each of the 5 races around three unique characteristics when designing them (the Asura had ingenuity, the Charr had industry, the Humans had faith etc.) I just feel that the Kodan don’t quite have enough of these characteristics to distinguish themselves as a unique in-game theme because of their overlap with the other races.

I personally believe that the Quaggans likely did not come from the deep parts of the ocean, which is where the Largos, Krait and Karka dwell (with the Karka living much deeper than the other two). If you look at their dwellings, they’re made out of woven seaweed. That suggests that Quaggans live primarily in shallow, warmer seas where there would be sufficient sea grass and reef fish for them to farm and eat. They wouldn’t really have to contend with large sea predators in such regions apart from sharks and barracudas, and Quaggans have the intellect and weaponry to be able to defend themselves from such predation. Only organised, focused attacks from beings like Krait would prove a serious threat.

I think consensus is that Ectos do NOT count as a “rare material” as far as salvage kits as concerned. When a kit says they have X% chance to give a “rare material”, they are talking about crafting materials that are 1 tier higher than you would normally get from the item. In most cases, this translates to getting Orichalcum Ore instead of Mithril Ore from salvaging Heavy Armor, Ancient Wood instead of Elder Wood etc.

I was salvaging white 80 lvl items with crude and I received ori and ancient so these materials aren’t rare too.

ALL salvage kits have a chance to return rare materials. Even Crude Salvage Kits can return Ori/Ancient, although apparently the chance is something like 1 – 5%. Evidently you can get Ectos from Rare items even using a Crude Salvage Kit, although nobody’s really been game enough to test it with a proper sample size.

Largos must be a new race

Quaggans will likely not become a playable race due to the fact that they are already a “racial sympathy” race. This also rules out the Grawl, the Hylek, the Ogres and the Skritt (which makes me very sad because I would LOVE to play a Skritt).

If ANet were to add an aquatic race, I believe it’s more likely to be the Krait (or the Naga, if they come with a Canthan expansion). There’s considerable variation in appearance between different types of krait; I’ve seen them in shades of grey and brown, as well as light and dark skinned variants. Some have heavy scales, some have spines, and some are almost smooth. Some have a flat, swimming tail, while others are more pointed and snake-like. There’s also visual distinction between male and female Krait, which is important for players.

More importantly, Krait can function equally well on land as in water, and traditionally they have also been known to possess different professions (Back in GW1, Krait could be any of the six base professions).

I doubt that Largos will become a playable race, to be honest. As a primarily aquatic race, it wouldn’t make sense lore-wise for one to leave their home environment and go gallivanting over the dry continent. It would be extremely uncomfortable at best and possibly fatal at worst.

Moreover, while I enjoy the thought of an underwater home city, the majority of players are either ambivalent to underwater areas or outright dislike it. A race who primarily specialises in underwater combat would not appeal to a large segment of the playerbase.

Evil Pact condem the Krait to Death!

in Personal Story

Zaxares.5419

The GW1 descriptions of the krait said they were evil and bloodthirsty:
“the Krait rival even the Charr for viciousness and cruel ingenuity. These semi-intelligent creatures are vicious and xenophobic, attacking all other species on sight.”

They no longer shape-shift, but this is hardly the only change we have seen in races in Tyria over time. Charr, Tengu and Grawl could not, apparently, make human speech in Prophecies. The Jotun were mostly mesmers with a few warriors. Griffons used to wield smites and symbols, the precursors to meditations and symbols, but do not anymore.

Charr and Tengu were shown speaking in EotN and Factions respectively, so we can safely assume that they were capable of speech even during Prophecies, but that they just never bothered to say anything to their enemies.

The Grawl in GW2 bug me a lot actually. Even back in EotN, the Grawl were portrayed as being only semi-intelligent, barely capable of forming the basics of society. (There was one quest in EotN where a Charr is attempting to talk to a Grawl, and after a long, one-sided exchange, the Grawl’s only response is “Ook!”) Their intelligence seems to have advanced remarkably fast in 250 years, to the point of being able to speak at literacy levels rivalling humans and other races, and of grasping much larger concepts such as farming and ranching.

Likewise, the Krait also seem to have advanced remarkably fast from EotN to GW2. They were never shown as having any kind of permanent settlement or semblance of society in GW1, and never used anything apart from their own claws, teeth and magical abilities to hunt, yet in GW2 they apparently have developed weaponry, metallurgy (as shown by the cages they use to hold slaves), engineering (krait harpoon cannons), and have a hierarchical social structure and a species-wide organised religion led by the Witches. I’ll grant that the former two could have been stolen from the other races, but the latter two developments would take a lot longer than 250 years to set up.

In contrast, the Naga from Cantha are shown wielding weapons and wearing clothing, so obviously they do have some kind of pre-existing society and technological development.

For me, I would go with the Karmic infusion PROVIDED that it stacks with other karma boosts. I believe no one has a Karmic infusion + an Ascended amulet yet so we can’t verify this. I tend to do a lot of events, and unless you want Cultural Weapons or Temple armor, you can spend all of your karma on Orrian Jewelry Boxes (which have a pretty nice return).

If the Karmic infusion doesn’t stack, then I’d go with the Gilded infusion. You may want to go with Gilded anyway if you do a lot of dungeon running, because monsters in dungeons tend to drop a fair bit of gold and it can quickly add up.

Magic Find seems to be a hit or miss affair. Some people have great luck with it, while others report no visible difference. (Personally, I think +200% Magic Find on 0.01% is still only 0.03%. Not worth the cost of building a whole separate set of MF gear and chowing down on Omnomberry Bars 24/7.)

The Krait seem to be somewhat retconned in GW2, having seemingly lost their metamorphosis ability that was the cornerstone of their special abilities in GW1. Now they seem more like an evil, extremely bloodthirsty variant of the Naga from Cantha.

It’s also worth noting that the Naga themselves were not always hostile aggressors too. They apparently lived more or less peacefully alongside other races until the Jade Wind came and more or less destroyed all of their traditional homes. After that, the struggle to survive turned them to raiding which brought them into conflict with humans and other land-bound races.

I think we should focus our attention on open world events/event chains that spawn named chests (i.e. Grand Chest, Splendid Chest), but which are unlikely to attract attention from level 80’s because they’re located in sub-80 zones.

Battle in the Vault gives a Grand Chest as a reward, I believe. Its position means that there should be a high number of people who do the event, but whether or not it’s done by level 80’s who have a chance to get a level 80 Exotic is another question. One thing that may weigh in its favour is the fact that the event takes place in old Ascalonian catacombs, which supports the gargoyle appearance of the staff.

The same rules could apply to Flame Temple Tombs, since the place is a last refuge for the Flame Legion to flee to, as well as it being an ancient tomb for Ascalonians from a time before the Searing. It’s an underwater dungeon in a level 15 – 25 zone, meaning that level 80’s are not likely to visit it either. I believe the chest spawned by killing the Champion Boss at the end is a Glorious Chest.

I’ve also done the Demagogue event in Brisban Wildlands twice, but both were on sub-80 characters. The chest that spawns at the end is a Splendid Chest, shaped like the sylvari chests.

For commodities, I usually match the lowest seller or 1c below it if I see that the lowest seller has a humongous amount of stock on offer. For items, I price the item about mid-way between the lowest seller and the highest buyer. This usually still nets me a good return (much more than I would have gotten from just merching it to a vendor), and I also get the benefit of a fast, almost-guaranteed sale as usually nobody’s willing to undercut me by such a substantial amount.

6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?

in Lore

Posted by: Zaxares.5419

Zaxares.5419

That’s not quite the same situation. In GW1, we never saw any female Charr. At all. Whereas in GW2, we do meet male and female Kodan, and they look exactly the same. I’ll grant that ANet could always create different models for them and retroactively change all female Kodan models in the game though.

Personally, I doubt the Kodan will become a playable race more because they’re too similar to the Norn in terms of theme. They’re both big, physically powerful, arctic-dwelling races that use ice/cold-themed weapons. They occupy too similar a gaming cliche for them to really stand out on their own.

My “outlier” race choice would be the Krait (or Naga). There’s considerable variation in appearance between different types of krait (I’ve seen them in shades of grey, brown as well as light and dark skinned variants. Some have heavy scales, some have spines, and some are almost smooth. Some have a flat, swimming tail, while others are more pointed and snake-like.), and there’s a distinct difference between male and female Krait. More importantly, Krait can function equally well on land as in water. That’s the main reason why I don’t think the Largos or Quaggan will become playable races, because as primarily aquatic races, they wouldn’t be able to venture too far away from the water without extreme pain or discomfort.

Back in GW1, Destroyers were often shown wielding Destroyer weapons (which look almost identical to their GW2 models). Balthus Coalforge and game economics aside, I see no reason lore-wise why a player could not simply pick up one of these weapons and start wielding it. Given that Destroyers “cool” after their deaths (a phenomenon not usually seen in GW2 Destroyers), perhaps what Balthus did was specially enchant the Destroyer Weapons so they retain their heat and power even after their original wielder’s death.

^ Why do you keep on talking about cosmetics as if it’s game content?

Btw, not having a Bifrost doesn’t make getting a Bifrost impossible. It would be silly if that’s the case.

EDIT: You know what, if you really think cosmetic skins are absolutely required for gameplay, go ahead, it’s your opinion, and I’m not going to change it obviously. Just note that Anet disagrees with you and wholly endorses a cosmetic grind, so it’s highly doubtful that any amount of complaining here will make them change that philosophy.

Well, depending on how you look at it, what Ohoni says is true from a certain point of view. Games are ultimately about the experience, and if the player has decided that what he wants to experience is running around shooting unicorns at his enemies, then yes, his inability to achieve a Legendary is locking him out of what he wants to do. While I fall more into your camp of “game activities and character power is content”, I can see where Ohoni and similar players are coming from when they say that cosmetic items are content (and thus, to their mind, content that is disproportionately difficult to get). I think this is largely a case of differing opinions over what an individual player wants out of the game.

In any event, the final decision is in ANet’s hands. As someone said above, if the number of “sad pandas” who want the colourful/whimsical effects that only Legendaries can provide becomes large enough (or if the wealth gap grows enough that new players find themselves effectively priced out of the market because the time investment needed for them to catch up is too prohibitive), ANet does need to step in. At the end of the day, GW2 IS a game. It shouldn’t become a second job involving hundreds of hours of farming. Legendaries should be something that you can eventually gain by “playing the way you like to” over the course of your lifetime in GW2. If you want it faster, then sure, you can farm/TP your way to it more quickly, but if you’ve been a regular player for, say, 1 – 2 years, who’s done all the PvE content, I think they would be entitled to have a Precursor for their efforts.

That’s why I really hope that ANet hasn’t abandoned the Precursor Scavenger Hunt idea. I think it would help bridge the wealth disparity immensely without affecting the economy too much.
