This would be great.
They need to make it possible to lose tiers after 5 losses in a row at bottom of tier. Meaning if you win lose lose win lose lose you cannot be demoted but if you lose 5 in a row at the bottom of diamond or legendary, you should not be there.
If they don’t fix this fast, they never will be able to be competative because players will demand grind based ranking and quit once they get legendary and realize they were never legendary players. It will be depressing for more and more players the longer the devs delay this change. At some point the devs won’t be able to change it because of damage to the playerbase and the game will see its ESL ranked die while they are suck between a rock and a hard place.

Conditions and condition remove is ridiculous. The old condition remove was fine once they nerfed A.R and Diamond skin. They brought A.R. back with resistance warrior and rebuffed diamond skin while giving mesmer condition removal on shatter. Then they over buffed everyone’s conditions after they already made them all stack. The result is a power creeped balance of condition damage and condition removal. Some power creep is fine. But you must have the hp to deal with it. This power creep requires twice the Hp across classes because they are doing twice the damage of the pre HoT builds.
It was ok until anet gave all classes the ability to one shot thief base hp. This needs to be fixed for the sake of thief build variety. They are a glass cannon class that can’t use glass canon amulets. Fancy that.
We don’t need more spears of justice in the game. It is already a toxic enough mechanic on one class.
Its easier to nerf one thing than buff every class.
I hope they add new weapons. It really needs to happen.
I laugh even harder because I just dodge them on thief and watch all their conditions disappear if they can even land them. On mesmer, they don’t even stand a chance. At this point necromancer is my free faceroll kill. Necro has been that class every season in my opinion that could never hold a 1 vs 1 and was always a free kill in team fights. They are like the support class in LoL. Last pick.
Trust me if they nerfed druid healing to zero Druid would still do well thanks to stealth and condition clear.
They just must nerf f1
Ok I don’t have to say much on this but significant condition burst plus permanent stealth. You already know this is getting nerfed.
Right now thief can use unblockable traps without getting revealed. This is a huge issue and needs fixing. Players are super trolling with this ghost thief. It along with the perma evade thief need some tweaking. More damage less sustain.
This is the key issue. Such high defense up-time has turned this game into a rotation war. The only class that can’t keep its defenses up all the time is necro. Once defenses are nerfed multiple core builds will become viable again. Mesmer is just one of the classes I am looking at currently. My post history outlines how I feel about HoT powercreep.
Edit: I if I am not responding to you it is because you haven’t challenge my longer double post above, or you are just attacking my reputation to obscure the truth.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
You list allot of unblockables. It is true there are allot. But not allot per class. Also if a class has access to allot of unblockables they usually find it nonviable to bring all of them. Necro would really be the only case where they have excessive unblockables. But necro conditions can be easily cleared by mesmer. Furthermore, They dont have shocking aura or anything else to stop mesmer. This means all a mesmer has to do is time a distortion or condition removal with shatter during its blocks which make up 6 seconds inter dispersed. That is six seconds where mesmer can be hit by necro’s weak unblockables and it is highly likly necro bought all of them because it wouldn’t be viable if it didn’t. Even if it did it can be out cleared and out healed. All the other unblockabeles seem like allot next to each other but when divided into their respective classes, it is often one skill or two skills or one trait. Otherwise their build again won’t be viable. I have found on my mesmer and DH that saving all your CC, Dodges, and blinds, for a warrior when he uses his signet prevents him from using his unblockables. Once it is up. There is not much he can do anymore. The same goes for other classes. Just use the extra defenses to deal with the unblockables and resume the rotation while their unblockables are on CD.
I only channeled Scepter 2 to make of for the time the shield was missing and I couldn’t even make up for the alacrity the shield would have given me. Regardless, you can use scepter 2 to blind them or use it to block. If you are about to get hit. You can interrupt the retaliatory attack by dodging or swapping weapons or even diversion or distortion or Csplit or simply shattering to out-heal the damage you might take.
I will say I have 2 vs 2 with this build. It works well swapping the one offensive well with a port. I can’t be focused because it takes to long to down me when focused by 2. This forces them to attack my other team mate after they notice this and I then go full on offense.
Now to address the quoter.
The idefender is meant to cover your mistakes as are the shatters for heal and condition removal and the healing skill itself. However, It is unnecessary if the player times his defense in the rotation. You have assumed that a player is going to apply a robotic use of every skill. This is not true. Rather than using a skill and waiting to get hit after. It is better to use a skill anticipating an attack. You forget that the build can easily time defense to attacks much like the attacker can chain attacks to the mesmer’s defense. The point this proves it not about the holes which are covered by an extra layer of sustain and defense still being vulnerable. Rather, It proves that if a mesmer uses this build at the average level with some common sense it wont die at all and can potentially survive a 2 vs 1 because It’s defense is never really on CD it always has an available defense.
I want to further note you have restated the part I refuted earlier about unblockables. This post and a post before it just refuted that. At this point you would need to prove that my defense is invalid with evidence. Otherwise, I will just refer you back to this post.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Shocking aura instantly ends blurred frenzy. Retaliation is only ~240 per proc but ends up doing 2-6k damage to the Mesmer depending on how many ppl are cleaved. Other auras will also go through blurred frenzy.
Weakness reduces endurance regeneration and poison reduces healing.
There are a lot more unblockables out there than just a few guardian skills. Necro warhorn 4 and traited staff marks are huge here. All corruptions are unblockable. All walls/wards are unblockable. Traited deflecting shot is a 10 second unblockable knock back on guard. Basi venom makes any attack unblockable for the entire team. Check out the full list:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/UnblockableReveal is not necessary. Mesmer stealth isn’t tricky. Just cleave where they were and watch your auto attack rotation flip over to know you are hitting them. It’s so easy to kill stealthed targets. And then you show a rotation that has you camping wells while stealthed. If you didn’t the rotation wouldn’t work. Everyone knows where you are. Furthermore stealth and distortion prevent capping.
Channeling scepter 2 doesn’t mean nothing can hit you for 2 seconds. Just the next attack. Likewise, aegis is only 1 attack. Especially vs fast hit enemies or multiple enemies these defenses fall apart.
Sure your “rotation” may keep you alive in most 1v1s but this isn’t a 1v1 game. It’s a team game. If a team focuses you, you might be able to pop distortion to prevent 1 unblockable but if focused, that “rotation” won’t save you. I’m also fairly certain I could probably kill you on my DD or necro 1v1 if you just did that rotation but whatever.
Also no decent DH or warrior should die to that rotation. It’d be a stalemate at best for you.
Good post.
In the end you are left with one of the following:
- survive a 1v1 indefinitely but not able to kill the other player or prevent decap
- get focused by more than one enemy and die/be forced to run.Either way it’s not contributing anything useful and I should point out that in a similar way bunker mesmer doesn’t work anymore.
I should also say that these (active) defences are the only defence for mesmer (no, iDefender is useless when you get focused and protection won’t save you anymore either). There is no shroud, insane healing, immunities, unlimited evades, unlimited blocks and so on. When you get hit (which you will because a good opponent will hit in the gaps of this rotation using methods that have already been pointed out), you will take a lot of damage.
Believe me I don’t want to have brainless defence – but singling out and this away from mesmer without smacking down every elite spec in both offence and defence at the same time will be bad.
I want to point out that this build has enough damage to take down a bunker ranger. Either quickly though a torch-shatter synced combo or though pressure. It has the damage needed to win as it is meta condi-chrono. It can maximize damage given that it can use any amulet it wants. Telling me this build doesn’t do enough damage is assuming the metabattle builds do no damage. It is just common sense that if your not taking damage you can use your scepter skills to attack, or if you take damage dodge interrupt the skills or distortion and keep using your offense. Again This rotation can be paused strategically to deal damage I just didn’t show how to use offense in the video.
You make valid points. I would argue that shocking aura is limited in that it has to be next to the mesmer to end blurred frenzy. If it hits you once you can always Csplit or distortion or diversion to deal with it.
Shatters remove weakness and poison if the healing skill doesn’t
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
To anet yes means no
I have a question. Why didn’t loudly announce that they will buff necro? Like why? Necro is still a punching bag in terms of defense.
You all named one counter argument: unblockables and players with reveal. I refuted it stating mesmer had extra defenses to deal with it and none said anything else on that. in other words, I have made a point. You all pointed out a flaw. I refuted it. Now I need someone to refute my claim that mesmer has enough defenses to deal with warrior or DH or other classes unblockables for the short time they are available during a fight. otherwise you all still have proved nothing and my point is valid.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Noone still has refuted my claim that mesmers have much more than enough to keep a constant defensive rotation in addition to healing. This is broken.
Well I cant be a mesmer main and highlight druids issues or other classes without also highlighting my own class’s issues. Im honest and my history shows me highlighting issues with every class.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Too bad that just means less diverity for mesmer. It isn’t all bad. They are increasing mesmer damage and changing druid base healing. These two changes are great and what we need. Sadly menders druid will still be broken in pvp and SoI nerf will ruin mesmer pvp diversity as we need defense shaves and casting times on instant skills that can be used simultaneously.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Ok so let me understand this. As long as a DH has 2 unblockable skill ever ~20 seconds and a pull every ~40 it is ok if we have 100% uptime on everything else? All of DH unblockables can be outhealed three times over between shatters and a healing skill and every pull just use distortion when tugged. How can you say constant defense upkeep is ok as long as one or two skills get through it? Distortion is on the same CD as most unblockable issues and a little bit of loose damage in stealth can be healed easy. I just faced a friend (unamed) from FEAR who claimed mesmer defense needs a fix. It was one sided. Either I killed him or he ran and gave up. One strong condition burst would end him in 2 seconds.
This is not about a build… You again have downplayed my build. That’s ok. I don’t want or expect players to use this exact build. As I have stated, there are many different rotations most of which are better. Yet regardless of how bad you make me look (which is very much intended as I am an example of a S4 solo que legendary player that shouldn’t be there based on how I didn’t try.), You have to relaize that you are avoiding refuting my bold points entirely. Would then you happen to say that mesmer is defenseless? (Rhetorical question) You cannot refute mesmer is overloaded with defenses at this point at all.
You said it other classes have 100% defense uptime. Mesmer is not the only class I have issues with. I also have issues with 100% evade uptime on thief or Duid massive healing. Just as bad is DH blocking rotation which I have found can be chained in strait blocks for up to one minute + and choppy blocks and dodges for longer than that. (Not including healing). This these defenses are insane and allow players to play glass cannon like bunkers. Tank amulets are losing their value and the toughness stat is becoming negligible and/or a sign that you are new to the game. I highlight this for my main class because I am unbiased to this. All the Mesmer with bias defending their class have missed one key point I am addressing. I am not showing how effective my build is. I am not showing how good I am at the game. I am not showing how well I can use this rotation verses other players. I am showing that the amount of defenses at our disposal that we can use in multiple different ways is ridiculous. You can refute my quality of gameplay but you cannot refute mesmer is overloaded with defenses now as I did not have to change my spec to gain all of those skills. I used the exact same traits as meta condi chrono.
Every player saying how bad I am is not refuting the fact that I cycled though nothing but defenses without Even Using Them All. That point cannot be refuted and needs to be addressed to promote more active and less passive gameplay.
On another note if a novice like me figured this much out imagine what half decent players could do with this much defense uptime. This video proves mesmer potentially cannot be blown off of defensive CD. We only die if we don’t touch our defenses.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Mesmer has a disadvantage on action camera. This is because mesmer has to look to cast phantasms. On normal camera mesmer can just cast whike his back is turned. This applies to all long range casters. This makes action cam give melee an advantage in a sense.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
But are the “experts” in this game really experts? They deffinately are not like pro league in LoL in terms of skill difference.
All the clone/phantasm generating traits should be in illusion and all the condution damange traits should be swaped from illusion into chrono.
Thats why I mentioned I didn’t use distortion, elite, diversion, or continum split, or the second shield proc. These are all extras to fill holes or stop unblockables or defend while in stealth or during the aegis. Mesmer has too much damage, too much healing, too much damage mitigation all in one build. And I am not refering to this extreme example. I am refering to the specs mesmer use in legendary (again my post just highlights how extensive mesmer defenses are without even showing the massive healing a few extra defenses and the idefender.)
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Voting no to solo or duo que implies you play wuth premades and enjoy stomping solo quers with superior organization rather than mechanical skill and adaptability.
F1 does need some counterplay it needs to be slower or blockable.
This is why we wanted a dueling mode.
This post was ment to highlight the fact that mesmer can potentially have 100% defense uptime. The more common nesmer builds have timed defenses with 90% defense uptime and 100% if they are good. I just showed an extreme example to highlighting what needs changing for high skill play. The defese uptime is why pros can easy stomp average players without much effort. I am sorry I made the mesmer community defensive.
Same issue here. However I love that they added polls please fix.
I just don’t get it!
Eles must use earth line 24/7 to survive dmg while necros here refuse to use Death magic
-Warriors must take discipline
-Revs must take retribution
-Engies take Invention
-Mesmers take Inspiration
-Rangers take Nature magic
-Guardians take valour
-Thieves take TrickeryBut you necro take spite and blood magic or soul reaping…no death magic then you come here claiming misery on how high the sustain is on other classes when they all take the sustain line and you don’t
Death Magic is the equivalent of Earth Line:
: + 180 toughness when in shroud
: passive 20% LF regeneration from kills
: gain protection when leaving shroudAnd you can ask to buff Unholy martyr so….
Why the hell necros ask for sustain buffs when you refuse to use your predefined defensive line to start with?
A meta reaper asking for sustain buffs is the equivalent of a fire/water/tempest mender ele asking for sustain buffs….ofc we all know what would be the community reaction :" d’huu you have earth line and that’s plenty of defense , take it and kitten"kitten if necros think they should be allowed to have sustain while not using any sustain line..then all professions should have the same luxury, I want to be free of using a fire/air ele in pvp without being exploded in 3s, can I have it?
I want to play a markmanship/skirmishing druid and be a kitten..can I have it?
I want to play a zeal/radiance dragonhunter and still have huge sustain…can I have it also?
etc etcWhat about you necros stop copy/paste Nos build and start using death magic line for your soloq experience?
Everybody must have tradeoffs if you want see big numbers on the screen or drop people fast with a condi burst..then something must be given in return
kitten really
You have highlighted a major issue with the specs right now. This is the reason players are bunkers with mard or beserker amulet. They need to fix the classes so they actually force players to make choices. More healing less damage. More damage less healing. That isn’t the case now they super buffed healing and removed all the amulets that increased healing. They should have nerfed healing and increased healing ratios and left the healing power amulets so that players were forced to play with less damage for superior healing.
Give it up you can’t kill a ranger’s pet in-fact, you may die trying.
Necro could shine with an intense boon strip build. I say make necro more unblockable and able to strip boons passively. That way it is punching bag vs punching bag.
Do the math this build has 6 seconds of stealth every 24 seconds. That is actually not 1/2 time in stealth. Secondly, as I said, the weapon skills are different. If you don’t like it grab a staff and use skill 5 instead of the torch. Phase retreat out of it to kite and gain chaos aura. Its basically the same thing, just less stealth more kite. But again, it really doesn’t matter as mesmer is not a good point guard regardless. You should always bring another class rather than mesmer to hold or 1 vs 1 decap a point. Mesmer is meant to +1 with ports. If you plan on taking a point guard as a mesmer for example, I don’t care how much stealth you avoided bringing your going to take forever to grab that point from a good bunker. Believe it or not, the buff to burning on torch makes for some good unexpected condition burst if timed right. You act like every mesmer build is a point guard. Mesmer has more versatility than such ineffective and close-minded gameplay.
The build does deal damage it uses the meta trait-line and a torch instead of staff. It is a condition shatter build and you can use any amulet you want. If this doesn’t deal damage than the meta doesn’t deal damage because it uses some of the same weapons and the exact same trait-line.
Just because I didn’t show you the damage doesn’t mean there is none. I’m just showing new players how not to die in 2 seconds. You not helping them. I did not show a build just a rotation. One out of many defense rotations. The same can be done with staff more or less. Just more movement and less stealth.
(I should have mentioned. If you proc the shield/shatter you gain the alacrity needed from that well I used. Just swap the second utility skill for a port.)
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
The holes in the rotation are covered by the moderate list of options I listed. Some of them (such as shield skills) require an actual fight to work. I couldn’t show the use of diversion defensively either vs a test dummy. There are allot of options to fill those holes. Also, I expect a bit of damage to fly though. Each time you complete the rotation you are allowed to take over 10k of damage un-mitigated by the idefender which I also could not show. Also, I don’t expect them to play it like a robot. You may not need skill but you do need common sense. I ran it like a robot just to show the skills in order.
An so what if I am? I got to legend then skill clicking. What does that say about this game? Besides, I’m just trying to give new players a chance. Don’t be so upset. Just because all the mesmers using rotations (rather than skill) are about to become average.
(edited by Zelulose.8695)
Look the mesmers are scared the new players will catch wind of this rotation or make their own and anet will have to nerf it. (Btw the reason I skill click is to 1 show how easy it is and 2 show them what skills I am using clearly.)
A new player can boost them selves to average or further with this rotation alone as long as they try.
I know I am not biased when I say the druid has problems because I highlight issues from my own class and main.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Charity-Mesmer-Rotations/first#post6356054
With that credibility established I would say I highlight op or broken features on every class regardless of which one I like to play because I want player to have to use skill to win. Druid is only one of many brain dead builds in the game. I would have it fixed along with mesmer, perma evade thief, resistance condi warrior, DH, and scrapper.
Follow the Pointer in the video. The sequence of skills used reflects one of many mesmer defense rotations that loops infinitely and defends against anything using alacrity
Many skeptics will call every pause kitten forgetting there is still a skill ceiling to this build. Even though you usually don’t have to use any skill.
Extra unused assets.
Defensive condition amulets
Idefender
Healing sigils
Healing on shatter
Distortion
Diversion
Continuum split
Elite of your choice
Unproced shield skill 4
In addition to the many unused defensive options this rotation allows the player to choose when to overlap defenses. Instead of doing the whole rotation in sequence players can opt to pause giving more time for CD and then overlap 5 of the defense skills such as stealth+ blocking etc. In the hands of a pro player this build is unhittable unless the enemy brings unblockables that are not stopped by distortion or continuum split.
Here is the video demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i55iywFgN2o&feature=youtu.be
I am not sure how long mesmer rotations will remain this easy due to potential nerfs so enjoy. (This does use the meta inspiration, illusion, chrono traits)
They think that by being a wow copy they will make more sales that is why we have a holy trinity right now. Obviously it didn’t work because their initial boast was no holy trinity and every player they sold that to is leaving now. Besides they wanted to make mesmer a dps illusion mage and look what we have become. We are kitten condition mages with a defense rotation so thick that we can just spam a rotation to evade and block everything.
Perfect. Full teams can still 5 vs 5. But solo/duo que will be separate. I have to say that with this if they make significant balance changes or add new skills Pvp will be a roller coaster that attracts many players and may not die. But the solo/duo is only the frosting on the cake which is balance and a good pip system. If these do not change this won’t be enough. But I applaud the Devs for fixing one of many major issues. If they continue to listen to the player base the pvp community will grow.
Well what you said needs to be heard reaper. Their balancing methods need to change. While I understand this we need real balance updates or this game is going to die. PvE is getting old especially compared to new pve games. Pvp is the only place to keep this game alive. and they ruined their only chance. This next patch may change this op pinion. My view is neutral on the last patch as it didn’t do much. If this patch lets us down the pvp community will move on to the 2016-2017 games. It’s crunch time Anet.
This was a good change done at the wrong time. This was supposed to be done when thief was strong before HoT. They did it right when thief was weak because they wanted to give them an acrobatics passive that let them evade everything for 2 seconds at 50% hp and a few other buffs such as a.a buff. It was really uncalled for and thief is now easy mode with a multitude of evades but still only mid tier and really annoying to play if you don’t use perma evade builds.
DH has good mobility what are you talking about. 1200 range teleport from anywhere+leaps. I can always reach far when or before my enemy does to give us an early start.
Resistance should be a first priority boon strip. It is the most powerful boon in the game.
If they wanted to make money they would expand pvp game modes, balance the game and give the players what they want so they invite more players to play that can use the cash shop and purchase HoT. They definitely are not in it for the money. Whoever designed this game does not want a democracy.
