It should only trigger once per second. It is magnified against multi hitting skills. Thief cant even use a DD trait because they take 200×3 damage for up to three clones it hits. Vs mesmer clone retaliation a player can cause quick suicide.
Reduce all damage to zero CD/Zero initiative skills to 500 every half second or 1k every second without crit. Especially Nerf all Auto attacks to 500 damage *Limit without crit and limited to 3 stacks of bleeding. If these spam-able skills are less effective the game is less spam-able and dodging is more impactful.
Bunkers with mobility in general are toxic. I have times when players just stop me from capping and then sit on the point just to contest it. This game still remains in a state were people rotate bunkers to points and barely even care about damage save one necro. If you do not bring 4 bunkers/bruisers it is an uphill battle. I have held 3 vs 1 to a point and I hardly even play as much as I used to.
Can we please just get more gold? These items are so annoying. Every time I win a match I get encumbered and I’m sick of deleting the ones where I have to type in the name.
Reduce instant/synced damage increase sustained damage. This works against bunkers and does not ruin squishes.
This is a good idea. Maybe add how many times they can hit you after activating.
Anet should hire you.
No class should be completely immune to conditions at all that isn’t even counter play at that point. Same with mesmer. They should have to dodge those condi. Still conditions should also not be able to kill a player with one burst application. Like a warrior who stacks on condi in one hit and can take a player from full with one single hit. That punishes builds without condi clear allot.
I am just waiting to see if they can do justice to thief. They die in 5 aa from DH at 1/2 second cast time.
I feel allot of players may not buy it unless mirage overtakes chrono.
power creep is fine as long as an hp increase follows. They went power creep with every stat healing, damage, conditions, defenses, but not health. Which should have followed. It is not really about power creep destroying the game. But if you double damage health has to double as well as healing. Health is the only stat that has remained un changed and would be easier to fix at this point than all of the classes.
I do not know why I did not see it. But thus far Gw2 has followed a similar trend to gw1 in content. The only things we lack are guild halls guild vs guild, renamed classes, some weapons, and no class combinations.
The got me wondering. Would class combinations be good for the game at this point in pve or pvp especially since right now balance in all areas if far from over. Perhaps it would give them a chance to re balance the game around exponentially more content in builds.
Engi does have a long delay on leaving stealth that is misleading. I am not sure if it is intentional. They may get in 4+ attacks before they are actually visible.
We need conditions to have twice the duration and half the damage across the board. Condition cleansing needs to be cut in half across the board. Dodging 6 condition spikes from a condi warrior for example should not let him land one and take you from full to zero.
Chrono could and should get nerfed again as well as inspiration. Less condition clear and an actual 10 second hole the the mesmer notorious block evade stealth defense rotation when spammed. Then mesmer could even see a damage buff without much retribution from the community making many builds viable again. (We also need a huge phantasm buff to damage to make Mirage viable)
Chronomancer right now has an insane defense rotation and condition clear.
I almost didn’t buy the expansion because the new elite spec was not strong enough defensively or offensively compared to chrono.
(I think the issue was the protection and regeneration in the new elite spec which mesmer already has plenty of)
It may take a while for mesmer to break from chrono at this rate. But props the Elite specs look awesome and have awesome original mechanics.
Be different. Listen to the community. Try 2 vs 2. Try 3 vs 3. The more game modes for ranked, the more competitive players.
Edit: Also, add more skills, traits, and weapons while your at it.

Not many trust what the developers say. They all feel there is unseen manipulation behind the scenes. And how are we to trust them? If every real issue we point out gets silenced? Even if someone did post the truth about matchmaking it would be deleted. So how can we give proper feedback on systems like this?
Sadly we have no choice but to trust them and their MMR system because we are not the devs.
There would have to be a limit and it would have to be temporary or some new or unskilled players would never get paired. You have to make it practical for them to want to implement it.
For example, why not limit it to one block that lasts for one hour. This is the best I can say they would even consider. Otherwise, players would just block all the low mmr players and add all the skilled ones.
(Your request technically means the more skilled players will rank up together but they need to squeeze time out of players for cash shop incentive which is why I offered my more realistic approach.)
Depends if their on your team.
I keep warning games that try to be esports to actually ID people in real life. Can you play in a basket ball season twice just by changing names? The answer is obvious. You have one name registered to play the season or even get into the big leagues.
Without ID on ranked players people can make bots to fill the lower ranks boosting everyone or make smurfs to bring high tier play to the lowest rank thus making ranking up arbitrary. If they treat esports as professionally as real sports they will succeed.
I play once in a while but will probably play less if there is an expansion because I don’t want to buy it. The game was only different to other MMORPG in that it had action combat and the options to -Invent- the next best build. Sadly, this game was given a new direction. Builds are now handed to players instead of created by them. Even worse, there are not many to choose from. You might as well be playing WoW with all the skills activated because there is so little build strategy involved.
-Why should our bar be limited if we can only run certain skills anyway?

They have A-real I-nstant D-amage S-kills so ofc they op and everyone wants to use them.
I really hope this begins 2 vs 2 skill balance. Because right now certain builds can 1 vs 2. First the 2 vs 2 game mode then 2 vs 2 balance. I just hope their balancing improves rather than hurts build diversity.
It is so important because we had more diversity before they added more skill options which 2 vs 2 just might fix. If they do it right we could even see more diversity than pre HoT
Next up 3 round 1vs1 tag team death match with a team of 3 on rotation.
I feel proud of this games 2 vs 2. Now I’m waiting for what’s next.
Thief has the most potential skill-wise.
Still, the real problem is that players can reveal a thief. This defeats the purpose of stealth. It used to be balanced with limited access. But now that you can dodge out of a field to stealth they started throwing revealed like candy and it is ruining the core mechanics of the class. Even worse is the addition of evades to make up for their mistake in removing vitality stats from traits. Thief is extremely hard, but the number of defenses it has available make it look easy.
To understand a thief’s position. Sure They can dodge evade non stop for a good number of seconds but during those seconds. In between the ends of each dodge. Thieves are losing half their health to instant DH traps and skills. They almost can’t even avoid damage dodging nonstop Stop dodging for 1/4th a second at random and you are 100% going to eat the spam-able damage out there. They created a game where you need cheese to fight cheese. Only the good players are immune to this because they know the almost non-existent intervals between thieves evades on any weapon or after a dodge.
As for stealth. Channeled attacks can track them and they can be revealed. They revealed for 4 seconds after one instance of damage and cant even walk out of their shadow of refuge. Some players actually wait for thief to try and use their healing skill and kill them right as they enter stealth limiting their healing skill options. And then there is of-course Taunt. It may be toxic to fight a thief but for a thief everything is toxic to them.
It is hard for players because they are playing a Radically different game with each expansion. The updates are good but HoT broke the original promises of the game. There was not supposed to be power healing in this game as a role only a bit for support as an add on to a mainly damage dealing/condi build. No Holy Trinity. Also they sold us on the old trait system. Allot of players wouldn’t have even bought the first Gw2 pack if they saw meta battle and the trait system as it is now. The game is becoming premade like Codex Gw1
Right now mesmer can shatter 21 times back to back. Aka blind 21 times back to back. Apply 21* however many clones of torment and confusion and healing health up 21 times while removing conditions 21 times. Maybe start with that.
Well the first mistake was giving thief 10k hp. a warrior can 1 shot that with various burst skills. 1 hit. That is absolutely not ok. That is like a thief backstabbing these zerker mesmers with 16k health for 16k. The community wouldn’t stand for it and it would be nerfed. This is part of the reason the thief community will never be satisfied.
As for the other classes. Defenses are so high that they all play mard or zerk builds. if you use any other amulet for a power build your enemy could be immortal on any class. Condition builds of course can work with any condition amulet even hybrid condition power amulets.
So basically to sum up the irony. The assassin class is too squishy to run a non vitality assassin amulet while the tank classes don’t deal enough damage to even kill a decent player without an assassin amulet.
Continuing, because of this most run condition which is by far the strongest right now Which makes the situation worse because Armor doesn’t matter to it only hp does. 10k unmitigated damage per second or worse by many condition builds. This is why tanks are effectively in the same boat as glass cannons.
So in the end everyone runs condition or mard. which in thieves case gives an extra 7k so if the first burst didn’t kill you the next attack/conditions will. And although classes have dodges and blocks, a strait defense rotation (which is possible) still gets hit for 7k’s+ through the 1/4th second intervals. For example: you would have to dodge non stop to actively dodge a DH instant skills for example otherwise you need a reaction time of infinity.
Still, the last update, although reducing diversity a bit, cut down on allot of the damage condition and power.
The community has been asking for this for a long time. Players have quit the game because they were tired of waiting for 1 vs 1 balance and recognition. I still hold by 1 vs 1 and 5 vs 5 balance together to complete the game along with the constant addition of game modes to attract a larger community. If a dueling version of ranked attracts 1000 players it is highly likely that they will participate in other game modes when a bit bored of 1 vs 1 just as the 5 vs 5 players wont log after board of 5 vs 5 because 1 vs 1 is available. This argument extends for adding 2 vs 2 3 vs 3 4 vs 4 death matches/3 round matches/capture the flag. The more playable options the more players.
I believe three major things drive pvp games.
1 Frequent class balance from 1 vs 1 to 8 vs 8
2 Frequent content updates (new skills new classes new weapons new sigils etc)
3 A large variety of ways to play the game.
(Note: Frequency is no longer than 4 months)
Games that achieve just two of these three are successful. The most successful esports use these three things.
We need regular skill addition updates/class updates at least as frequent as seen in LoL players only play a game as long as there is something better to look forward too.
The misconception of better 1 vs1 balance vs 5 vs 5 balance or vice versa needs to end. We need both 1 vs 1 and 5vs5 balance coming in as fast as the updates in LoL/other esports or faster.
If this is not possible pvp should be reverted to casual because they cannot keep up with other esports that are better at giving players something to look forward too with regular content updates and balance fixes. Other esports don’t just have fast balancing they may release more abilities/champions 4 times or more a year. These updates likely should require cash shop elements.
They chose to make it rock paper scissors. This makes everyone a winner and if you want to win win vs your counter just swap to its counter. This is actually very smart and adds strategy to the game. Skill battles revolve more around same class duels/ encounters in 5 vs 5.
Please tanks feel like glass cannons and glass cannons are being instagibbed by tanks. Only tanks can afford glass cannon amulets and glass cannons need vitality or tankier amulets to survive. This didn’t happen as dramatically when trait points gave stats.
They did a good job in the recent updates and got me playing again so I can’t complain too much. We need more decent updates like these and more skills/secondary specs
Thief does not counter mesmer they counter our c;lones.
We should try 3 round 1 vs 1 and 3 vs 3 death match. Oh and even better imagine a 3d ssb version where a ring out means a loss on a raised circular platform for 2 vs 2 minus all the crazy knock backs. I theorize that allowing every type of game modes wont take away from the rest but attract players from all walks of gaming. Then Anet can choose the one that is the most popular and make it competitive.
I hate nearest target targeting AI that is all.
They need another expansion to redeem themselves where the new content isn’t mandatory.
Perfect time to listen to vet players and add 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3 since pvp is dying. No other game has even tried to go pro in these areas. If this game hits them all they will get 1 vs 1 fans and 2 vs 2 fans and 3 vs 3 fans and they will overlap bringing in loads of players. (This is a wonderful suggestion and not a complaint for once up to the team to use new ideas).
Finally things are looking less stagnant. The devs actually did something significant this time. Wish for changes like these more frequently to keep the game interesting. Old players waited years for patches like these keep them up.
I and many others have complained about anti evade skills a long time ago. For example Guardian walls should force dodging in place not a knock down when hitting the wall. Also pulls should be able to be evaded as otherwise they allow the snaring player to set up a spike and pull a player into it when he chooses ignoring most defenses such as block and evade which are canceled.
This issue will keep coming up because a mechanic that prevents a class wide base mechanic such as dodging wont feel fun to allot of players.
This is one of many reasons why I’m not playing anymore.
Other games (Cough LoL) don’t take this long to balance one clearly over rewarding class. (I am talking about Guardian/DH class as a whole). They still need to raise the skill ceiling so the class isn’t easy but remains competitive. I don’t play anymore, but I enjoy reading the forums though. Same complaints all the time.

This wouldn’t be a problem if they continued to add skills without worrying so much about balance. At some point, the variety would stop the excessive use of only one build. This is what happened in Gw1 they did have to nerf op builds but no one cared as much because there were so many fun options available and new builds continued to appear.
Right now they are focusing on making balance with a few builds and every game developer should know that balance is impossible in a multi class game. You can come close but one character will always have the advantage. I am waiting for them to change pvp for the better and add variety again. I’m just too board of meta battle builds. If they are going to have meta battle builds add more than 3 effective ones and make it so that one doesn’t stand on top. For example, LoL has thousands of champions many build options for each. They have more variety than gw2 right now. And that is why i’m not playing. I hope they figure out how to satisfy their community and make some money again. Why should I work at a game that hands me everything except aesthetics (how my character looks) without doing much?

Well, more updates like this and I may come back.
Allot of people wanted a 1 vs 1 duel mode for a long long time. Anet refuses to implement it. This is not the first op calling for dueling, and it is an example of how Gw2 does not listen to the community. This is the most frequent post I see for game modes that hasn’t been implemented since beta. The devs decision not to listen to the pvp player base has grown so toxic I left for BDO.
I would return if they added new skills. Hands down. I am a player that would often donate to the cash shop to show my appreciation a few times a year. But I am not playing now because they left their original promise when gw2 opened and I don’t want to play a game that becomes a different game with time.
I have been clean from Gw2 for a bit and I can say the pvp state is so bad I wont come back until they make a good patch. If you leave it you will understand gw2 is going backwards while the world is moving forward.
Also a very good idea. Mantra needs something to make it viable with all the cc flying around.
