Right now I’m playing a Zerker ammy guardian it takes me 1 minute to die 2 vs 1. And if I sync my utilities and focus I can one shot people. (Medi/Symbol/Trap) Its the current build going around.
Thief is just hard countered by warrior and guardian and revenant, That is why they complain. There are classes that at a certain level of skill are impossible for them to win vs. a Pro league thief could lose to a decent guardian.
Wrong LoL offers 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs3, 4 vs 4, 5 vs 5, 6 vs 6 with 3 vs 3 and 5 vs 5 being official.
Different team sizes aren’t different game modes, different game modes would be classic & dominion.
I understand, But even their LoL has much more to offer especially if you count special event game modes and custom arenas. There really is no comparison between gw2 and LoL pvp the thing that keeps me in Gw2 is the more customizable classes and flashy action combat really. If they added more game modes I probably wouldn’t play LoL again as gw2 would offer the same thing but more. (less prestige ofcourse with ranked).
This is done so you can’t enter and exit pvp with your skills CD reset. Players could use this to test a skill at x speed I’m not quite sure why they care but I assume reduction of enter/exit skill spammers is why.
They should do what LoL did which I feel psychologically improves game-play. Show the number of kills and the number of deaths. Feeders will be identified as if you die 10 times that’s 50 points. And great players will get rep. Also so players don’t misunderstand the point guards include points caped/decaped/ duration’s on point (Kind of like the towers and CS on LoL). This will ensure players know when they need to improve.
I have said thief perma evade needs to be nerfed I’m sorry you suffered the build. If you look at my post history you will notice a class and build trend that I have been trying to request a shave for. They are things players like you complain about. I only complain about what makes people frustrated in tpvp right now. Namely Thief spamming evades, DH, Chrono condi, Condi/cc warrior, Herald/Invocation Rev, and two special ones the immortal Scrapper and Druid. Players dont always have a problem with all of these but they definitely hate one of these. Personally I enjoy rolling around on my thief but I understand when something right needs to be done.

A major update where things Actually change for the better does bring players back. It is rare for game developers to change but when they do change for the better they bring allot of players into the game.
One good example. Vindictus was a fast growing game they didn’t listen to the player base and it died. They updated it added jumping and many other features and players returned. They removed jumping and other features, ruined the market and the game died again. Players play games that sell them what they want. If Gw2 wont sell it they would buy it. If they offer alternate game modes all the players seeking these will join for the prestige of 1 vs 1 ranks or 3 vs 3 ranks. Also IMO Balance should be centered around 1 vs 1 because often the strong classes at tpvp are also strong with their alternate builds in 1 vs 1. There is a strong correlation.

We have been asking for these since beta. This needs to happen for the game to grow. Limited game modes attract a limited player base.
Not condi mesmer power mesmer and realistically guardians have a trap that gives 2-4k unblockable damage on low CD and Judment which is technically two since it interupts channeled blocks and its initial strike is unblockable Warrior has the ability to be unblockable for 6 seconds. Mesmer and thief are limited however in their unblockables and they already deal less damage than warrior or DH burst wise. And no this is not a Nerf DH thread. Warrior has blocks, Rev has a ton of blocks Guardian and mesmer have blocks. I don’t understand however, why the lower damage classes have been denied unblockables while the higher damage classes are handed them like candy . At least add unblockables to elementalist. Like a skill that says magic cannot be blocked or something. What I’m suggesting is pretty reasonable since it is not a nerf it is a buff that 1. Wont increase damage. 2.Wont nerf anything since it is a buff.
Mesmer, Thief, and Ele need more unblockable options that fit within their meta builds. For example thief has to go condition to use it’s unblock able traps. Thief especially could use some more trait based unblockable options.
If you wan’t a guardian sustain nerf that is fine but let us nerf the right elements of sustain. Not just any that comes to mind.]
There are allot of ways to fix guardian sustain. Their blocks, Numerous heals, Condition removal, undo-gable fields., Dazes and blinds, or even boons.
I usually don’t defend guardian but I’m honest. This is not an issue skill. What is an Issue is the combination of virtues that block for 5-7 sec. Heal 4k 5k with menders. Meditations that heal 2-3k and the healing skill. That all together is allot of healing. I would prefer that guardian cannot use all of this sustain at the same time. But my other posts in my post history reflect that more than guardian alone need a shave to sustainability. Right now everyone is a 1 vs 1 immortal practically. Especially when a cheese build is used by a top tier player. I’m thankful that most top tier players refuse to run cheese because of pride. For example, this season I carried my self to ruby +6 pips from amber on a perma evade thief. This should not be possible. While my mesmer has a win rate of about 50%

I have played mesmer for maybe 10 games this season. All I’ve been playing is thief and guardian. Mesmer needs defenses nerfed it is true but they don’t deal enough damage to kill anything fast enough. Engineer and DH just absorb mesmer attacks. That isn’t to say portal is a great asset to a team and probably the reason mesmer can still play ranked effectively. Even when I play domination to try and max damage on a mard it gets out-healed. It has made the class boring enough for me to start class shopping. But they need no buffs only a sustain reduction. Mesmer damage is in a balanced spot right now. Again nerf Sustain across all classes. DH, Warrior, Chrono, Druid, Scrapper, Rev, Thief all need blocks, resistance, dodges, and Healing shaved.

Lol I think he was showing off the unblockable rifle warrior. I recommended it in map chat as DH counter once hoping it would catch on. Sadly, it is too situational. Warriors need defenses in this bunker meta and being unblockable makes you one utility squishier and one utility weaker verses everything else that doesn’t abuse block.
Either everyone dies instantly or noone dies for 2 minutes+. Rock is paper and paper is scissors. I’m just glad scissors is no-longer rock.
They may or may not censer ESL players. But they do censer the forums so the topics “Don’t hurt business” manipulating players impression of the game. If we complain about something they don’t want us to the post gets infracted.
It is true if you die off point they often just leave you to slowly die so they can stall. It really is a toxic mechanic that causes allot of frustration for the resurrector, the resurrected, and for the enemy of the res. It is just one of those things that annoys everyone. It is especially painful to go down and have to spend a few seconds sitting helpless before the inevitable finisher happens.
DH is by far the strongest class.
Recently I have been seeing allot of perma evade thief. Lots of players use the meta staff vault build. It really takes away from the old high risk high reward concept as they have no risk. The only reason thief isn’t broken right now is because DH is destroying them and there are at least 2 per team in hot join. Thief counters Druid pretty hard.
Druid and warrior have a sustain issue right now. When I see a good player use these classes they don’t die. Less skilled die to cc and boon strip but the good players time their dodges time their skills and spam less. They are literally unkillable 1 vs 1 and I dare say they can 1 vs 3 occasionally if the team lacks enough cc to punch though the crazy vulnerability stacks.
Right now I have 3 issues with it.
1) After res my team mate just dies again.
2) It is used to stall a point aka winning point without combat
3) It usually results in the death of the player doing the res.
In gw1 it was better because skills res not indefinite res,
This is an issue due to the power creep. Res never power creeped with HoT. Resurrecting a team mate is almost a liability. I have watched a whole team go down just for trying to res a player. The resurrect traits aren’t enough either as they haven’t changed since the HoT powercreep happened.
It is true mesmer is countered pretty hard by DH as is.. most every class right now. You gotta be one hell of a Rev to take on a DH 1 vs 1 right now. I honestly don’t see mesmer as an amazing pick unless its with pro teams that are extremely coordinated with the burst.

Ah yes nerf the thief perma evade. It needs to happen. Sword evade was nerfed now perma vade needs its nerf. I asked them to nerf it. If they don’t nerf something broken I will play it to prove a point.
Went on my guardian cause we had 3 ranger swapped so we had five. They begged is not to do it. But we just laughed. Even when they 1 up us in rank we still won hard.
Here are my problems with DH ^^
Overloaded heals, too many daze
Assumed meta trap build with marauder amulet
Heal skill (purification)- initial heal = 2k heal, active heal = 6.5k heal , smiter’s boon = 2k heal. Total = 10.5k heal on a 24s CD
Utility skills: JI = 2k heal, CoP/smite condition = 2k heal
Elite skill: Renewed focus= 2k heal
Total possible heal- heal trap- 10.5k, utility skills- 4k, elite skill- 2k, 2x F2- 8k heal = 24.5k of healing

There needed to be a CD on that 5-10s ICD.Nah all of this is fine. In fact everything was like that before hots. Heal trap isn’t that strong, I think signet of resolve can heal for a large chunk too. You just never see guardian use it because….signets kind of suck.
See your problem is you do not understand the design philosophy of guardian. They are meant to engage in combat and stay there. This has been specifically highlighted by anet numerous amounts of times. To stay there in the fight, they need sustain. If they can’t sustain themselves they are broken because they do not have the tools to move in and out of combat at will.
The only real problem is your approach to fighting guardian, I’d say you have tunnel vision….like many pvpers out there. Just because you are failing to kill a class, doesn’t automatically mean they are broken or overpowered. It usually means that you haven’t formed the skills to learn how to beat them. So stop calling out nerfs because “you” are losing.
Here is a small list of stuff that counters guardian:
1. Poison
2. Retaliation (probably would make the guardian kill themselves with all the aoe)
3. Range them, eliminating most of their damage since its all pbaoe.
4. Unblockable skills like signet of strength etc
5. Condi overloadIts not hard, its only hard when you do not want to change how you approach a situation.
1. Poison is removed every time they block you or with passive or utilities
2. Retaliation is Mainly strong playing as a guardian so what your saying is role guardian to win vs guardian
3. Guardians have range so again role guardian to win vs guardian
4. Condition overload. You just stated a more extreme version of #1. Again they have plenty of condition removal to survive. Conditions pre HoT was their weakness but not post HoT.
It is impossible not to rise at 50/50. They give you extra pips for win streaks. If you played LoL you would understand that this is much nicer. The MMR might be bad but for a skilled player the ranking up is easier as long as you keep getting win streaks to make up for losses. You can have 49% win rate maybe even lower depending on win streak frequency and climb. This is the best ranked system I have ever played because it takes win streaks and afk into account. No other ranked game can say boast the same features. The real issue is balance and the Player pool
Yes I am bringing it up. The only reason players keep getting stuck with the same noobs is there are not enough players to average things out. The pvp Playerbase is too small. If they can respond to players faster and get the playerbase to rise the unfair matchmaking will diminish and they can work on the small tweeks from there. (This is why they made the good move of Free to play pvp) They really should make the whole pvp area F2P regardless of expansions and leave pve Buy2P completely. This will improve revenue for the game and player satisfaction as well as increase the player base dramatically.
I’d like to see a return to class diversification. DotA is a great game because all the heroes in it are so different. While it seems like in GW2, all the classes have been hammered down to be superficially different, but only superficially. Give me a mesmer class that can do fun things with illusions, instead of just summoning DPS pets or bombs.
Also, and this is just a general thing: reduce cooldowns on skills across the board, for all classes. Cooldowns on everything are too kitten high.
Well I don’t agree with the CD but I do wan’t to see phantasm again. I loved the ability to pretend to be an illusion I didn’t shatter just to confuse my enemy but I can no longer have this fun anymore thanks to aoe and instant clone clearing. (We need clone death and permanent retaliation back to prevent this clone/phantasm killing fiasco. There should be consequence for not attacking us as I have stale mated with too many enemies on phantasm build just because they refuse to attack me and attack my illusions the whole time.)
No it isn’t with the DH condition removal trait on block Shelter can do wonders with a good blocking rotation but most of the masses prefer a massive heal to account for all the damage they don’t dodge because… they don’t really have to… In short it is a strong heal compared to all the others yes but they still have equivalent options upon its removal.
I don’t care if they care I care that the pvp community cares. They care about various things. Balance, more game mode options, and build variety and more. The sad part is they should care as the community is their source of income. It is illogical destroying one source of extra income which would also satisfy the pvp player-base With the (pvp kill split) they don’t have to ruin pve as I already see some pvp runes now.
Perhaps Gw2 is getting neglected because of Lineage Eternal development.

I might very well deserve to win If you’re really as good as you say. Just keep being good and at least you can remember one thing. Your win rate will be better than the less skilled players as long as you’re more skilled. Furthermore, your will only get better as you continue under a disadvantage so this matchmaking is making you stronger. I Have no problems with matchmaking especially after coming from League. It is much easier to climb in this game. The only issue with this season is class stacking and balance But that’s just me. The majority of players will be bad. If you don’t like it you should make a premade.
If the sustain nerfs I’m promoting become a reality then assassin specs will be more useful in this bunker/bruiser meta.

It is usually like that. It is highly likely that 1 in five of the players on a team will be drastically better than the rest. Assuming the matchmaking is truly random.
You had a thief they had two DH. The team with the most DH usually wins.
Lol and the sad part is that passive was added because this power creep was one shotting thief to the point where this passive still isn’t enough.
They should have reduced the damage responsibly rather than trying to make an easy quality-less fix.
I again bring up the topic of 1 vs 1. Seeing kitten vs 5 has failed for 4 seasons. Consider a 1 vs 1 Ranked que with a 1 vs 1 Arena. The rank up progression would be exactly the same as Ruby can lose pips can lose tiers.
The benefit would be that players will finally get balanced 1 vs 1 builds which will increase the balance in 5 vs 5 Also, given how much of the pvp player base is already in 1 vs 1 servers I doubt it would take away from Gw2 5 vs 5 player base. In fact, it would probably add to it.

I’m not sure but I almost feel like the developers of Gw2 pre patch and the Developers of HoT are different people. The game mechanics and style suddenly changed and became inconsistent.

Your angry, I understand, you slandering me shows this. You don’t have the ability to make DH not look op so you try to discredit the people who call it out. But it won’t work as they really are too common in Pvp right now. Making fun of my lazy skill clicking (Which if you haven’t realized is an attempt to show how brain-dead this game is) Will get you know where. When I play seriously I have my skills key-bound to a razor mouse for clarification. But I refuse to put out effort until I have to. Add me some time and duel me. We will see if the cheesy state of GW2 builds even makes me use my razor. The only game that has forced me to key-bind for speed to win is LoL or swordsman online. (If you think about it I have above 50% win rate skill clicking isn’t something wrong with that? I’m being carried by DH right now its too easy I don’t even have to try) That is the message I’m trying to get across.

Actually if your 3 vs 3 whoever gets stuck in a dragons Maw is dead. It takes half a second of letting your defenses down and you cant dodge. All you can do is block and hope the guardian doesn’t use judgment during it. Guardian is the only class with dodge/skill interrupting fields. (something I am heavily against). Barriers should restrict movement and dodging inside these should be like dodging onto a wall not resulting in interruption.
Phantasm mesmer is dead. It doesn’t even have the damage to keep up anymore. Absolutely a dead spec. I was wondering why the added the strong trait in chrono to re-summon phants after shatter and once my illusions went from 3-0 illusion/phantasms in one aoe warrior burst I understood why. The inspiration trait doesn’t even help as it forces us to go defensive (aka less damage). I enjoyed playing phantasm as kind a relaxed build that couldn’t do top tier pvp but at least could be played for fun. As a mesmer main it is sad to see mesmer in this state. Chrono made shatter easy allowing players to just keep clicking f1 without worrying about running out of them. Chrono goes against the art of mesmer completely as did their addition of torment on shatter and the removal of clone death which was the only thing that gave players a reason not to kill our illusions/phantasms. They have slowly been reducing mesmer into a forced condi/power hybrid shatter role.

Tpvp isn’t about 1 vs 1 its about holding for longer than 1 minute ideally 2-3 minutes, decap, and aoe support/damage. I can 1 vs 1 rev on my mesmer if I wan’t a duel. But in tpvp I can last longer vs 5 because a block cycle blocks all 5 if I see a rev on point I knock him off and let my team +1. Revs unrelenting assault is way too telegraphed and wont stop me from dodging it and holding the point indefinitely. I just rolled guardian this Season and also have just over 50% win-rate with no experience in this class.
Again you read my mind. This is 100% what I have observed.
Again its Go DH or Go home in solo que. I already had to swap because they outperform all my other class point guards with decap feature.
You forget what it was like pre HoT it was so balanced that people only quit because it was boring.Every op thing was not viable in Tpvp and only viable 1 vs 1

Am I the only one on the forum that doesn’t favor any class in specific? Your post clearly indicates you fully support the class regardless of the facts present with their frequent appearance in tpvp.
At this point I am pretty confident guardian is going to get a nerf. Yet, I doubt it will be a meaningful one.
The insane healing will likely continue to be a prevailing issue for all classes until the next expansion which will sell because I have to admit their pve is pretty fun compared to other mmorpg and well done. So we will have another crazy shift in the meta that will most definitely be a power creep as if the skills are useless, no-one will buy the expansion given how bad HoT was.
Listen man mesmer needs a sustain nerf to the inspiration line. I’ve been saying that for a long long time. But all the classes heal too much Its like they are there own Gw1 monkx2 they were supposed to add alternate defense options not add more defense to stack with HoT.
I’m honest I call for my own class to have its sustain nerf. Let me make an unbiased statement. Mesmer block on shield should work like scepter or sword block. They should have less healing in the inspiration line. Also shatter CD need to be unaffected by alac buff.
Warrior should deal less conditions on interupt and stack less burning. They should not have 100% resistance up-time.
Guardian Needs a sustain nerf to its condition removal and blocks ideally or a nerf to its trap/meditation/symbol damage. A burst guardian should not be a tank.
Druid Needs less stability access. Less healing. Everything else is fine.
Engineer needs less protection up-time or less healing from the turret/longer CD or reduced evasions.
As far as I can tell the other classes are balanced with respect to each other.
I am not calling for a biased one class nerf I have been hollering about all the top tier classes for a while. Rev. already got it’s fix as far as I can tell but it is pushing it as well.
