Why: Too much healing. This makes thieves “god mode” in WvW/PVE roaming/small man groups. Just stealth, reset fight whenever – or just cnd and heal 1500 hp whenever. A year and a half into this game, yet this very broken trait line still exists.

I’m not sure why I got infracted last time I posted. I’m not mocking anyone or being rude or anything. I’m just collecting all the nerf requests in one place. If you feel that any of what I repost is some how in violation of the terms of conduct, I’ve provided by who it’s originally by and the thread they posted it, feel free to infract them for it.

Something about GW2 just keeps pulling me in.
The nostalgic feeling/reminder of GW1?
The minor polish/small things that other games lack (deposit collectables)?
The ability to not only jump… but to dodge roll as well?
:P
Isnt it a chance on critical hit for the GM trait? Or is it always on a critical hit?
Would be kind of cool to see this type float up and be decent (everything is “viable” apparently…).
Funny… write “Isnt it a” but with a ’ between the n and t… it will be censored…

I don’t get how it’s a prediction that there will be more QQ’ing. Of course there will be more QQ’ing, they forgot to implement the feature where you walk up to the thief and press F to loot them, you will still have to use a combination of other buttons post-patch to get to loot them.
Now a bit more serious note…
Stealth didn’t get it’s face beaten with a nerf bat – the same QQ’s will remain.
Evades didn’t get it’s face beaten with a nerf bat – the same QQ’s will remain.
Healing didn’t get it’s face beaten with a nerf bat – the same QQ’s will remain.
Backstab didn’t get it’s face beaten with a nerf bat – the same QQ’s will remain.
Damage didn’t get it’s face beaten with a nerf bat – the same QQ’s will remain.
Ergo in the eyes of the QQ’ers, we’re still OP, QQ’ing will remain at the very least on the same level as it does now.
Crit damage nerf? (lets ignore how it will hit us more than other classes and think for a second in the shoes of QQ’ers) TEEF STILL OP. YOU WHINE AND QQ PLAYING AN OP CLASS… L2P NOOBS
Now the patch does bring:
“-50% DAMAGE WHILE STEALTHED” – Wow too much benefits from stealth, more OP! I can’t see them now and then they will take even less damage … wow … much OP.
“200 extra power when you are revealed” – Wow buff thieves out of stealth so they be more OP in and out of it!?! MUCH OP.
Invigorating Precision – Thieves already have too much healing from stealth… this just gives them even more all around… MUCH OP.
Bewildering Ambush – I’m already getting trolled by preplex thieves… you’re buffing them? MUCH OP.
Assassin’s Equilibrium – Giving them stability out of stealth (again forget it’s 1 second, just think like a QQ’er)… are you crazy? you want them to be OP in and out of stealth!?! MUCH OP.
Now because of those 4 GM traits (mind you, they can’t be taken all at the same time, but people do ignore this fact) the QQ’ing will increase.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
There’s three methods of getting stability:
Dagger Storm
Lyssa Runes
Stolen Mesmer skill
:P But yeah… Stealth/Dodge/Evade/Blind, and watch the QQ’s on the forum.
See… too bad all of that, even if released, will be in the gem store, or gem store related.
:(
I would like to congratulate you, Chris, for getting your post added to the Nerf Wish list…
(See the link in my signature)Awesome! Just to bad you use very poor wording with your own bad fallacies. But thanks for the credit.
Aside from “Too much healing.” in the “Why” part, it’s all you.
I would like to congratulate you, Chris, for getting your post added to the Nerf Wish list…

Sad to say, but posting on the forums is more fun than playing the game. At least for me. Playing the game is a bit depressing…
Sounds like you need more friends that play
They ditched the game in under a week after release…
Guild keeps kittening transferring, and I really don’t want to drop ~$20 (?) each time, or waste gold I’ve been saving up (for precursor, which is such a long “journey” for the precursor on it’s own).
Class that I like get’s nerfed almost every patch and complained at day-in-day-out. Nothing is being done about it, aside from nerfs just to keep the masses happy until they want more.
So yeah forums > game, at least for GW2 and for now.
…
The thief needs buffs for condition removing (almost not existed), and stun brake (zero stability) not nerfs.
…
Hide in Shadows removes a few conditions, also requested to be nerfed (check the nerf wish list in my signature).
2 Stun breakers, 2 too many.
The stolen mesmer’s skill gives stability, nerf already been requested.
Dagger Storm gives stability, also pretty sure it was requested for a nerf.
and as a bonus… stability from lyssa runes… so 3… 3 ways to get stability… aren’t you thankful?
The rate at which thieves generate nerf requests indicates they need to be nerfed moar, noaw.

Sad to say, but posting on the forums is more fun than playing the game. At least for me. Playing the game is a bit depressing…
I love how every thread that is supposed to point out the flaws of the class turns into a L2Read and “You’re a kitten” response.
If you watch those Youtube videos of thief outnumbered, you will either encounter 1) a very smart player (yishis, aikijinx, etc) or 2) someone that is fighting against a bunch of bad players. This is not a good measure of how good the class is.
Totally is. Youtube videos is the new source for factual information. Except ofc videos of other classes are fake.
You know, they could have “fixed” the toolip to properly say that it gives fury and vigor as opposed to what they did.
:P Eh, NOT COMPLAINING. Just giving another perspective.
dancing dagger cripple all over again
See that skill needed some bug fixing… obstructed 80% of the time because a blade of grass is sticking out, 9.5% of the time misses, 0.25% lands but is blocked/mitigated and 0.25% of the time hit and does damage… Costs 3 init.
Might as well have a skill that just uses up 3 init and doesn’t do anything, at least in the toolip it can say “Does nothing.”
@ Zero Day.2954
This image may help demonstrate the range it has.Q: What do I do with my hands?
A: Fisticuffs
God… I can just imagine the QQ’ing…
“TEEF LAZERS OP”
“TEEF SHOT ME WITH A LAZER FROM STLEATH”
If you’re going for crit-damage build of some sort yeah, zerker or mix like everyone else mentioned.
If you’re running condition build, Dire is best. (Opinion, not fact. Before the forum kittens get here…)
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Try doing that in fractal.
in fractal(s) I would probably do the same thing, accept drop the 3 skill. too risky.515151515151515. And if i was against a boss id whip out my shortbow and 1 keeping my finger on 3 incase of aggro.
Because your group definitely won’t kick you for using shortbow and spamming auto attack against a boss.
:D Not during the boss fight. #winning

Why does everyone think we’re OP?
Because when you go on youtube and type Thief vs Zerg you see things no other profession can pull off.
Someone doesn’t watch a lot of youtube…
Or specifically directs their hate at one thing.
…
REQUEST SUGGESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY in extremely simple language…like “reduce/increase etc/etc from/to because x reason”
Isn’t that what the balance forum is for…?
Plus see it’s never so simple like that… Someone will surely cry “Teeef OP nerf cuz they got stealths” or “Nerf stealth cuz teef OP” or “Nerf Evade cuz teeef op/has stealth”
We did… get a “bug” fix ;D . Just to show that we’re never forgotten! (Aside from other bug fixes that we’ve been requesting)
Trickery II—Instinctual Response: Fixed a bug that caused this trait to grant fury and vigor while on cooldown.
This is like a honey-pot for infractures…
Careful people…
Wait, we’re finally good at zerging? Did they patch recently?
Or did you mean:
A 1200 range option for a class designed to only 1v1 and having all mechanics around the said design.Pssst. That makes it even sillier.
:( I just want a 1200 range weapon… don’t care if it’s a rifle or longbow… Between the two, yeah, rifle hands down. Makes more sense at least in my head.
:‘( O wait, I can’t and aren’t even allowed cuz:
That makes sense….
I should probably roll a Warrior then, so I can roam, zerg, and be viable in any PvE/PvP situation. And only play a thief when I want to roam or be called OP even if I suck (honestly I’m not good, decent at best) but they suck more (and they don’t realize that).Well if you want to do what a warrior can do, then yes, you should lol. Likewise, if you want to do what a Necro can do, you should roll a Necro, etc.
Kinda logical I would think.
We should just all roll warriors if we want that 1200 range weapon… it’s logical right?
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
If you have a problem with paying a trivial subscription fee then you should be doing something other than playing around on the computer. The anti-sub arguments are really bizarre. I mean are you wasting your Netflix sub or your internet sub if you’re not using them 24/7? Of course not. You’re paying for 24/7 access to a service you value.
It’s funny, really. People pay a box fee and expect to be entertained for years. If you got a hundred hours out of this game you got more out of this than the vast majority of AAA titles out there. People don’t want to pay money yet the have the nerve to complain about subpar patches, insipid story, and gating of horizontal progression behind the cash shop. Well, what do you expect?
Ummm what? By the same token you could be asked “if you want to pay a sub game why are you here?” Also many people here are often times demanding an expansion because they WANT to pay more cash for quality updates. People also want quality patches/updates (free or not) because it’s just good for the game in the long run, no one wants horrible things added to any game that may drive people away from it.
To add to that…
“Oh hey GW2 is doing well, and it’s F2P… Maybe I should try <another ANet/NCSoft game>”
And, so far the only real underlining argument provided by people that are okay with subscriptions is that they’re very used to paying for everything and are willing to pay more and more. It’s like they have an abundance of money and can throw around while saying “Oh why can’t you do that… too cheap?”.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
How about something like this?
As an off-hand weapon to something, sure. Otherwise it doesn’t look like something that would have 1200 range…. plus… what do you do with your hands (please don’t be too informative)?
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Join the warriors. We have easiness.
…
Until warriors become fair I boycott using them against other players (No warrior wvw or pvp for me).
If everyone did that… It will make warriors look underpowered because they’re played the least. Flip-side, if everyone is a warrior, it shows that warriors are more preferable then other class for certain reasons….
Join the warriors. We have easiness.
…
2: Make rewards more accessible and relevant:
…
- Think of new rewards that cater more toward to Fractal players in general.
…
Please not another Ascended-like-gear tier, or something that can only be gotten in/meant for Fractals yet effects general PvE and WvW.
Maybe sigils that give +20% damage while in Fractals… It can be overpowered, but something that stays in Fractals.
There are many top tier MMORPGs coming out this year
1. EverQuest Next
2. Wildstar
3. The Elder Scrolls Online
etcDoes Guild wars 2 even stand a chance ? What do you think Arenanet should do to retaliate ?
/Titanfall
But seriously…
1. No real opinion on it yet… Cool it doesn’t have a subscription, so at least +1 on that.
2. Subscription or Grind or AH/TP-Flipping, pick your poison. Subscription, no thanks. Grinding, maybe… but I don’t seem to have much time now-a-days. AH Flipping, tedious as grinding but could work… End game raid based and to a certain degree feels like WoW 2.0 (sorry to do the whole WoW clone thing… but… yeah). Futuristic being it’s only plus for me.
3. Subscription based, no thanks. Played a few beta’s… was really bored running around thousands of miles to find out I have to run another several thousand of miles. Really didn’t feel worth the $15.
You also forgot to mention (Tom Clancy’s) The Division. No subs (?), futuristic…
In terms of retaliation…
Make cool looking around available not through gems, like through new dungeons, or extensions to old dungeons (just costs more tokens, but the skin looks kitten)… Something like that, but basically have cool looking skins be available through the game and not your wallet.
Give some solid and persistent content.
Fix/better the ascended implementation.
Better class balancing…
Bring back the title system from GW1, so we can title hunt/grind again. (At least have another goal)
Execution of CDI topics, meaning carrying things out that have come out of those discussions and pointing at that (literally say, we implemented so and so because there was a discussion in the CDI topic this <one>). Sorry to say, so far they have been only talk, not so much walk…
(list could go on, but basically everything from the CDI topics) (Also reasons why I’m barely playing this game anymore
).

Believe it or not – I don’t need advices.
Just posted my two coppers on why I think thieves are out of balance.
Pure ignorance is saying “thieves are fine, easy to counter, all you have to do is…”
Best of luck to you out there.
That’s why maybe…
Were you running glass, were you upleveled, were you tanky, etc. These are important questions man, very important.
Dude, you can answer to all these 3 questions only looking at deffensive stats I posted. (no-no-yes if you can’t figure it out).
You posted armor rating, vitality, boon duration, and healing power. 3/4 of that tells me nothing. If I saw Toughness instead of armor rating, it would tell me everything. Somebody said it earlier up, why were you using just pistol and bomb? Throw grenades, use Elixir S, Supply Crate his kitten .
OMFG! are you serious!? hes an engineer and complaining. ive played 5 days on my engineer and have only lost 1v1 to a thief ONCE…and it was bc i fumbled. engineer NEVER should lose to thief. i run RAMPAGERS…..no toughness. no healing. just rampagers and p/s 20 – 20 – 0 – 30 – 0
It’s everything cool and flowers in theory, but when your hp goes to the bottom in just 3 hits (which apparently weren’t his strongest) there’s not much you can do beside doing best to heal up. The pistol skill is a chain, which i was already chanelling. Bomb was from dodge.
To make it clear: Thief had absolutely no food buffs, no bloodlust stacks and no might stacks when he attacked. Neither was he using power signet.youhave to react. if u dont …well thats your fault. any class can melt a zerg/ramp/valk in seconds.
as an engineer let me suggest things that are in my build
static shield
static shield discharge
Dodge #1
magnetic shield
magnetic shield discharge
Air blast (flame thrower)
Dodge #2
smoke vent (flame thrower)
Elixir S
Supply Crate
Gear shield
Detonate healing turret (explode + knockback)
Dodge #3there is about 35-40 seconds of not being able to be touched…..
no excuse
Dude, I honestly don’t care about your l33t suggestions, since it’s not a L2P issue (and apparently the only argument of every thief).
He seems to have found a way to deal with thieves… So yeah… don’t know how else to put it, aside from practice makes perfect?
Seems like SB is being used too much… must mean it needs a nerf…. cuz you know … if it’s used a lot it means it’s OP….
spvp is different because fights are close and you have to complete objectives and cannot capture points in stealth
Yeah they are. And one promotes brainless zerging while the other you have to think a little bit when you’re fighting. Basically get some fresh air in sPvP, then come back to WvW and see how that thief fairs then.
i dont loose by all the thiefs in the game in wvw but the fact that they can stealth and reastelth until they win and having no chance to die makes them completely broken
“No chance”, no there is a chance… against people that can decently PvP.
i have never played a game that rogue/thief class can keep resetting the fight anytime they feel like
WoW – Rogue, can cast Vanish any time, resetting the fight and waiting a bit for a better opportunity.
i had thiefs that chased me on my guardian for literally 5 minuets either they killed me or no one died because they are impossible to kill
Did you purposely run into them? I mean if you have such problems… if you see them from a distance try to keep away from them (take another route). I’m guessing you “can’t” kill them because you think they’re OP right? You know they’re OP? This has nothing to do with your own skill level does it? Or the self imposed limit of “I can’t kill them because their OP so i shouldn’t even try”, what’s the point of trying right? Gets you nowhere in life.
“or no one died”, well great! What more do you want, they trolled you a bit on your way to your zerg and neither of you died, you made it to your zerg…. cool.By the way… your post is beating a 2-year-old dead horse… that’s now turning into pulp from all the beating it gets on (semi-)daily basis. Thank you for making post 9,573 of “thieves OP – nerf or rework them”.
yes guys when speaking about someones class problems its always a l2p issue
thiefs / rogues in lineage 2 have not so much access to stealth and are still one of the top pvp classes
and even in wow that has terrible pvp rogues cant abuse stealth over and over and over again
So why are you automatically trying to direct it at me personal? Did I offend you somehow? Did I says something that struck a nerve? Some sort of frustration with PvPing in general?
:P I love this, they cry OP, when someone goes against them “it’s because you play that class” – classic.

If they rework stealth and compensate with better performance out of it, sure.
Literally in WvW thieves are good at roaming, they suck at zerging. Immortals, unkillable, invincible (often confused with invisible), no… try playing sPvP (even just hot join) for a few weeks instead of WvW, it should improve your overall PvP’ing skills, considering WvW rewards mindless zerging vs sPvP where you have to think a bit. Very good single damage, yeah… but that’s about it.
Is it okay for a class that only has one use? (that’s probably a bigger issue…)
Also, everyone else, please notice this is coming from a WvW perspective…
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Very build you can come up with will be called OP and cheesy.
So, every build is the best build.
Can’t counter stealth …. didn’t actually read the previous post.
That is correct, there are no direct counters to stealth (or true counters as mentioned in the previous post).

Okay, can you give me a list of each class and what they can do.
Cool I guess it’s fair that we only get to do one thing and one thing only, while other classes can do multiple things.
And on top of that, we’re getting called OP in every aspect including those that we can’t really do.
Let me guess, I should roll another class if I want to do something else?“Let me guess, I should roll another class if I don’t want to play thief.”
well… yes?
That makes sense….

Thief doesn’t need a buff. The class is good at what it does and if it did any more it would just be overpowered. If anything, offhand pistol and/or heartseeker need a nerf.

My reply had the meme “You Don’t Say”, it was deleted and infracted.
But yeah… it was worth it.
Only one other person besides me (BobbyT) came up with the idea of “wait a minute… maybe it’s the ele’s problem…”, default is thief OP.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Just leaving this here…
Yes I had a really fun and squishy build but seriously!? Why is the system allowing me to get one-shot into oblivion!? Whatever build one uses this shouldn’t happen..
Lowest base armor, lowest base health, running a “really fun and squishy build” (full zerker?). One shotted…
Shoo damage dealer, shooo
IF you have nothing decent to contribute to the thread except to insult other forum posters because they want to nerf the class you play, then don’t post. thief will eventually get a nerf and when it does all of the thieves that do play this game will either adapt, reroll, or quit. contributing nothing constructive in threads designed to bring problems with the class as a whole to attention to the devs (though unlikely they will pay attention as it isn’t about elementalists) is just proving that you are infact what you have been called, a toxic element within this games community.
I’m sorry… He’s playing some sort of a squishy build on an already squishy class and then wonders why he’s being one shotted by another squishy/glass cannon build (more than likely)… And he insists that he shouldn’t be one shotted. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
I’m insulting him because of this, not because of the class I play… if you truly think its because of that, well… congrats, i don’t know what to say.So… Shoo damage dealer, shooo
Point is that the matchup is horribly lopsided. It would be okay if the ele maybe had a 1/4 chance of winning vs thief but even if he spots him first and is surrounded by teammates he still dies 9/10 times.
Isn,t that a problem with the ele? I’m pretty sure lots of things can kill a glassy ele.
…
No one seems to view it this way, ever, for anything.
It’s not his fault or problem that he went all squishy and got destoryed by a thief with low odds of coming out alive (because he was running a squishy build).
Instead it’s the thief’s fault for being OP (STEALTH!!!!!!!!!) and giving the low odds of survival to the ele.

Yeah but I really think they attempted (traps?) to make thief more diverse then just doing assassinations. Attempted being the keyword.
Because 1 shotting people with the class called “Assassin” definitely means it’s OP.
And I think they didn’t want a one-trick-pony, meaning assassins typically assassinate and more than likely aren’t good at anything else…. Remember they made “Thief” as their archetype for Assassin/Ninja/Rogue/Thief types.
I don’t think they’ve gone too far off.
