Just wasted 4mins of my life.
This is just an issue of not having resource management. The two classes that have it, it fills to quickly for them to even be considered a concern.
GW2 once had a mana+potion system back in alpha, but it was scratched entirely. I wish it would have stayed, the game would have been so much more balaced (or ‘balanceable’ for that matter) with such a sytem in place.
For what reason? A potion system will always either make the game pay to win or give pvers the advantage in PvP. The same idea can entirely be balanced around cooldowns and resource management can already be found in the form of class mechanics.
Nah, everyone having a healing skill is one of the best aspects of this game’s combat system.
With other games there is an artificial timer on fights whereas here the fight continues until the better player comes out on top or someone makes a mistake. After playing this game and going to others, without adequate self healing it feels very awkward to move out of the damage and kite only to find there’s essentially no point and you end up ramming heads until one drops.
Self healing skills give great potential for come backs and adds more depth to the flow of fights.

No, I find no sportsmanship or pleasure in death match. Nor do I find any real show of skill.
Beside that, there are dueling arenas for that sort of thing.
Removing Courtyard is among the best decisions ANET has made with respect to PvP.

I always ask “duel?” if the answer is negative I usually help the ally. If it’s a duel I back off.

And we boiled it down to one big thing.
Arenanet as a company Took away a choice from the consumer. nothing more, nothing less.
People had the ability to transfer for years. anyone even remotely interested in WvW could
find the gold or the sponsors to transfer even to lower tiers in about a week.
We had the choice to go where we felt the population,community and gameplay was right for us.All they did was take this choice away. Because you can’t wait for this to settle and transfer back to a lower population server again. As they said the links will change every three months.
They took away the choice from the consumer.
As a player who transfered from Ring of fire to Blacktide back to Ring of fire before i found my home in underworld.
All i feel is sadness and betrayal. Because the company did nothing but take my choice away from me.If i wanted to play in far shiver peaks I would have already been playing there.
Let me play how I want to play.
Youre completely disregarding new players. Players eager to try out this game mode that people were once so passionate about, find a wasteland and turn back never to bother trying it again.
Veterans these days only wish they could show modern wvwers what the truly glory of wvw was. All we can do now is tell stories about when it was actually exciting and meant something – when these empty borders had more queues and a higher map cap than gold does today and make no mistake, im not a blobber just a strong anti-pvder.

I haven’t seen all 4 maps queued in T1 but I’ve only been here since HoT. The most I’ve seen since I’ve been here is a queue on EBG and maybe 1 or 2 bls with small queues not over 10 – 15 but even that was a rare thing..
When I logged in a few hours ago EBG was outnumbered in T1
Prior to HoT, it was normal to have all 4 maps queued in T1, not just for reset either. Hot just made so many players quit the game that was no longer the case. Players coming back in hopes of them fixing it ( giving Anet another chance) would be what they want to happen, but if they cannot play at all and the changes are not what they asked for, you can expect them to just leave again. People saying the " queues will die down" should understand that is the worst thing that could happen, as them dying down means all those players just left the game again.
This is their opportunity to increase the number of players playing and improve the health of the game, if they blow that chance, that means they lost an opportunity to prevent the games decline. Players should want the game to keep growing, not die. Asking them not to make improvements that actually solve these issues long term is just asking them to kill the game faster.
Indeed but players should correctly convey they want anet to use a similar format for na as they do for eu rather than have a knee-jerk and immature reaction by asking to have the system completely removed.
From simple observation of the forums, i believe it can be seen that almost if not all eu players strongly feel this was a step in the right direction.

You completely missed both of our points.
Quoting the population during off hours does not validate the number of people on a map being so low that the only enemy you encounter realistically on a regular basis is a door equating to what wvw is, it still equates to a glorified silverwastes.

2 to 3 people on a map is not Wvw. That’s a glorified silverwastes. We’re talking in the interest of Wvw not brain-dead pvding.
Wvw wasn’t meant to be a pvd fest, you have silverwastes for that. Wvw was losing dramatically more players from having barren maps than it ever will from temporary queues.
I’m a casual player and I only have time to play gw2 for about one hour per day. The queue time essentially prevents me from playing WvW, which is the only part of the game that I really enjoy.
Queues weren’t even this bad on launch weekend for me. I’m a casual player on a fairly casual server and I liked it that way.
EoTM have no qs
go play there for one hour a day, its 3 hours per match there 24/7
the match on Worlds are a week look, so EoTM suits your playstyle

The other big problem for the desert maps other than the drops that lead to death and barricades was that they were too big for the current population to fill up the space with enemies leading to arguments that travel time between fights was too large. Now that there are actually enough people to fill up the maps take that pole out of your kitten and go and play on the desert borders.

So, I’ll say again, what exactly is NOT op or broken about conditions?
Many condi builds are weaker than plenty of power builds. This fact alone disproves all arguments about condis generally being superior to power dmg.
How do you define weaker? Conditions bypass toughness. Conditions can stack duration and outlast protection. If I power burst you while you have protection you take 33% less damage for lets say 4 seconds. After protection runs out I can burst you for full damage. If I stack multiple conditions on you for 10 seconds I can walk away from you and after your protection expires you will take 6 seconds of full condition damage. My point is I can condition damage you and not even be there, I can be heading to the other side of the map. How do you define weaker?
Sure and by that logic, if you cleanse the conditions you take 0% damage from them. Sounds like power is better since 66% is higher than 0%.

Hint: You’re not supposed to be able to cleanse every condi you receive, it’s the equivalent of complaining you don’t have enough aegis to block every attack.
The sweet victory of seeing non-condition damage users (or I guess this still only doesn’t apply to people who don’t copy and paste off metabattle.com) having to come to terms with realising the dps of chill really wasn’t that high.
Reminds me of when the zerker-no-clears-equipped boys always complained that condition users had it too easy not needing to take more than one dps stat, and then they gave us expertise and think to themselves “I’ve made a huge mistake”.
I am with booms on this one, the changes to guardian were just stupid, still no movement increases, decrease too true shot was not necessary in my opinion. The shouts reductions are alright i guess but i don’t see that being useful in pvp, we still have an insanely low Health pool so bunker guardian still cant keep up with all the condi and power creep.
The biggest thing about this patch that stood out to me was this
“A large portion of the changes occurring for the guardian are aimed toward reducing the dragonhunter’s group controlling and killing capacity in WVW while toning down its ranged spike damage capability prevalent in other areas.”
This tells me that these “balances” were influenced by WVW. I dont WVW often so i dont know if guardians are crazy op in them or not however if they are why do underwhelming performing guardian in pvp have to suffer? When is ANET going to finally realize that these games modes need to be separate from each other?
In regards to the effects on wvw, it has just dumbed down CCs further. You might have heard of the drama with the stability change (being made into stacks) which meant that melee trains get butchered by brainless spamming of CC. I quote “stability is now countered by the one thing it was supposed to counter”. No timing required etc, just spam everything you have.
Now there was a step in the right direction in giving the stripping of stab stacks an internal cooldown, however giving a limit on the amount of CC’s possible by line or ring skills just dumbs down the CC game further. If you allow me to extrapolate, in order to counter intelligently placed lines and rings as area denial, you get your zerg to slam their heads into them until they magically stop working. One thing is for sure, the pvers running around eotm in a circle are happy they wont have their entire train feared off the bridges.
Im not going to bother making a fuss over it in the wvw forums, its already over for the game mode anyway.

Actually I don’t know that even a little. That’s not what was said anywhere. They wanted to roll it out all at once and now it’ll be rolled out in stages to get parts of it into the game faster.
There was a leaked Reddit post about a potential guild alliance system that was not received well from the community and therefor scrapped the idea because after that they switched stance to releasing stages at a time. if they had a system ready to ship they would release the whole thing unless they started over in which case you would release in stages.

Only a WvW player hears the announcements of (no new legendaries for the foreseeable future, but, here’s Friday reset back, btw, we’re pulling resources to rework the new PVE maps) and ponders “so, no other updates for wvw for the next 2 years or so eh?”
I giggled cos it’s true. So much rage about legendaries, and you can hear the crickets in WvW.
As someone who’s never had or wanted a legendary (because they look terrible, yes I’m a necro) I say us and the legendary ragers are on the same team. The rest of the playerbase is finally getting to see how wvwers are treated and they are not happy about it. Most importantly of all, it’s two (along with the non-existent wvw overhaul) major parts of the expansion that were advertised and incited sales but were cancelled.
The WvW “overhaul” that removed the servers was scrapped. That isn’t happening.

Deliver things that were promised and advertised without sacrificing anything before moving to development of conent you they will SELL us later.

What if I told you there probably wasnt anyone working on the so-called scrapped legendaries to begin like the non-existant wvw overhaul and ‘moving’ these devs over to the living story team is therefore not going to make a difference to production speed.
People are so desperate to cling to hope, youre forgetting there are 70-100 devs (according to anet’s own words) working on the next expansion instead of finishing this one. Why on earth is anyone still playing this game settling to choose one or the other?

Roaming on bl does work if you knock on enemy keeps, and belive it or not, real players not npcs come. if defenders come then we get fights but I agree it’s no where as busy as it use to be back in the old days.

A guild member got a 3 day forum ban, for just asking ‘Why not get the glider, outfit team to work on LS instead of Legendary team?’ he posted on our Guild Facebook page he is quitting the game, if he can can get a forum ban for something as trivial as that he doesn’t want to support Anet anymore. So I am not sure what the prerequisite for a ban is?
Let just say, although the website has thoroughly run its course now and has a bad reputation – there is a reason players had to resort to creating an unofficial wvw forum back in the day and people began using their permaban-count as a measure of how long they’ve been a true wvwer.

Yeah its cancelled, and they put a new carrot at the end of the stick saying they cancelled it to push smaller updates focused on core issues.. but they have nothing to put out right now despite developing this so-called overhaul for a year now. As expected, it never existed in the first place.

You’re implying wvwers should yet again be shafted by forcing them to change name if they want to transfer servers (which they are currently being forced to do due to almost the entire bronze and silver tiers being deserted), at least youre on the same page as anet.
