My prediction regarding the change to waypoints:
more ninja pvd, fewer waypoints, more running, more scouting keeps, fewer battles, sadness, HoT optimism, HoT disappointment, join the other 90 percent of WvW players who have already quit the game.
We shall see. The last stress test was for 24 hours. Most people quit playing it as soon as the first 3 hours was over. If they enjoyed it, they would have stayed.
The WvW team seems the most out of sync with what players want.
That’s probably because of the game breaking bugs xD. Waypoints to home towers only usable by that corner’s server could be used regardless of who owned the tower, necros were permanently locked from their utilities after going into shroud etc.
Jayne dont bother with dancingmonkey and coglin mate, theyre known for derailing threads or just arguing for the sake of arguing wherever they can its a waste of time.
Death is the lonly way to “cure” it…

Players can no longer rally off of basic creatures in WvW.

Now all they need to do is make them all ambients while keeping their character models for immersion so theyre no longer an interference in fights.

Hasn’t line-casting been fixed? My brother used to use it with ice bow and meteor shower in wvw raids but he says it’s been patched and can no longer do it with dodging or burning retreat.
Is it still possible to pull it off?
Yup, maybe the timing changed or something specific he did changed, but you can still do it with dodge at least.
Hmm so is it cast>dodge>stand? Dodge>hit cast while in dodge motion, could really booost his effectiveness on raids. Ill get him to do some testing.

Pulling it off in WvW I imagine would be tough with how much you move, plus possibily not that effective in that again people move. But, I know I’ve done it and it was sick when it worked. It’s basically set your thing at furthest range, dodge and begin the cast at a further range than is possible as you end dodge. Really easy with the new max range settings, just hold your cast ready to go, dodge and release.
Figured out why it wasnt working lol its because we use insta-cast, switched to fast with range indicator n it worked !
Edit: ok lol apparently the DnT guy was wrong, my brother managed to do it with insta-cast its just that he had to get the max range perfect.

Ahhh ok I think the max range thing is something he didn’t try when he was showing me it no longer works. About the practicality xD he’s a bit of a one man army as long as I show him how I’m sure we can make it work he can juggle doing many things at once while under pressure.

I can usually beat a non d/d ele. Laughing at me doesn’t change the game record.
Reapers are killing easily and tanking way too much.The record of this beta will no doubt show as much. Laughing at me shows your inability to defend your statements. So laugh all you like, you have no credibility against the beta stats.
You still dodged my question about diamond skin ele’s but il continue to my point. You more than likely don’t have a fun time fighting them and will avoid that fight in a match, so why did you ignore what dranor was talking to you about hard counters earlier? Condi mesmer specifically going against reaper isn’t very wise but other classes and builds won’t have the same level of trouble at all, nevertheless I don’t see how you were caught by a reaper with mesmers mobility and please don’t claim it was because you were one-shot if you’re going to call him an impenetrable tank at the same time.
I try to respect duels as much as possible, I duel myself, but must admit too many ppl duel in very bad spot (myself included).
Not all 1v1 are ‘legit’ duels and asking your team mate if it’s a duel when he fight for his life usually won’t get any answer anyway since he is kinda real busy atm. And, sadly, it did happened too often that I let a comrade in need be killed because I thought it was a duel and it was not.
My advice to duelers: find better spot than camps or SMC vicinity.
My advice to all: If you have any doubts about what is happening kill everything red because your team mate might be in need of assistance and you justify your inaction with dubious ‘honor’ reasoning. There is nothing honorable about letting someone in need die when you could have helped anyway… If he complain that he didn’t need help after, refer to advice to duelers…
Personally my ‘when in doubt’ reaction is, if you don’t know if it’s a duel or not I don’t interfere in an equal numbered fight. If you server mate wanted help and they die – oh well? When you die you don’t lose anything I can just rez them after, no harm done. But if he didn’t want help then you’ve gone and ruined a potentially very fun fight and if your server mate wants another he might have to go looking for that enemy all over again.
Except he did loose his stacks (guard or otherwise), possibly his trust in you, as well as time running back in the event you die realizing your mistake now that the attacker has turned to you having been spared a 2 v 1. Not even talking about possibly loosing an objective because you decided to let things happen… This is a team game and even solo roaming is a team contribution no matter what motivate you playing in the first place.
Have fun but not at other’s expense otherwise don’t be surprise if others don’t care about your kind fun… Many duelers don’t seem to realize that the way they duel and were they do it is probably what causes the most harm to all other duelers in the end.
Personally I have enough confidence in my own abilities that I won’t lose a 1v1 especially just after the enemy was in a fight. If we’re standing in a camp, what I’ll normally do is wait for the fight to finish while standing inside the capture circle and let the enemy heal up and engage me. If he wins two 1v1s in a row despite me being confident in my abilities I see the camp as his reward. Towers and keeps are a different story.
If my team mate gets angry at me for not jumping on the opportunity to outnumber the opponent I no longer care for his opinion because I see him as a coward.

Actually I can beat a d/d ele about half the time. Staff Ele more often. As to standing around.. pull and chill followed by instant I win button weapon spin.
Yes I carry condi cleanse, no it’s not an adequate defense. I’m willing to bet that the win records will show reaper and revenant dominant in pvp at the moment.

And lol you claim to be able win against dd ele half the time but get caught by reaper on a mesmer.

As to knowing what I’m playing or not… I admit to being a mediocre’ish Mesmer. This is not about me.
The fact of the matter is that I and quite a few others are seeing the reaper tank ridiculously. I’m also getting 100-0 1 hit nuked. The spec is way overpowered.

I’m consistently not even denting reaper. That’s stupid. This whole idea needs a huge rework/nerf. I spent most of the last match trying to hurt a reaper and never managed to visibly reduce his health pool. ( and got top player for condition damage dealt )

Definitely more than a few people fighting a soldier amulet reaper in here and claiming he had high damage to make their argument seem like anything more than a l2p issue.
To everyone else saying Reapers are too tanky: Perhaps, then, you might consider that the “focus the Necro first” strategy might need to be rethought when the Necro is a Reaper? It could do you wonders.
how about we just change reapers instead of changing everyone’s strategy in regards to necros ?

Initially id imagine the rule to not be able to dodge was because of breaking the roleplay immersion by somehow avoiding a nuked area by rolling over in that very area but then you say you can only dodge by paying gold and reaching a certain level AND weapon skill evades are allowed.
Well i guess i thought these rules were to make the game seem as real as possible which i thought was very cool but after reading about the above quotas to fill to be allowed to dodge it just seems like a bit of a pointless self-made gimmick type of difficulty really.
Also lol the whole shop idea is way too much effort, id settle for not being allowed to use the trading post and only buying and selling from vendors you walk up to in person.
For these next points obviously they would only be valid if you were trying to make a sense of realism with the rules:
Id say its fine to explore maps without the personal story guiding you to them, besides you’d have to walk all the way there and you would probably get lost straying so far out because you cant use your map (although youd think you would copy down a map if you saw one in a city :P)
And that itd be weird for learning to cook making you stronger in a fight (exp).

No you shouldn’t see it since they are not your conditions they are your foe’s, they use his stats,trait and are considered by the game as their conditions. If you on the other hand self inflict conditions and the transfer them then you should see them since you are the source.

Is it just me or do transfers in pve only clear but not transfer?
I’ve been using plague signet in pve to roleplay #necrogroupsupport and using my various transfers in particular at the red keep breach but i never notice the bleed ticks from the transfers which should be easily noticeable with the low numbers due to the mobs having little condi dmg.
Or am i just being blind?
Hmm pve aside, i wonder if you can get around the issue of needing to buy HoT to be able to claim in wvw by having a HoT friend create a guild, claim a guild hall and then make you the leader and leave.

chill seems completely ineffectual. the damage added is fine but the actual condition hardly seems to make a difference.
Did they increase the deathly chill damage?
What about unstackable boons like the retaliation from spiteful spirit? (gain retaliation for each foe you strike)
Also just to clarify, chilling nova doesnt cause the person initially chilled to cause the proc to be chilled a second time by the trait does it?

Does anyone know if you get lifeforce/health per stack of might btw? And have you checked it for various sources such as runes and “you are all weaklings” ?
As in if the might is recieved in clumps such as the above shout: 4% shroud per enemy or 1% per enemy?
GvGs are boring as hell, and they are not the endgame, its just no fun, just like SPVP. I can play 2-3 SPVP matches per gaming session before it gets so boring I have to go do something else.
What is the endgame, is taking a 20ish guild group and going against a 60ish guild group and coming out on top. Regardless if its objective takes / defenses or open field, or whatever else. That is the bomb. And by default, GVG guilds can’t and don’t do it, they can only break up pug blobs and thus suck.
Also, for everyone screaming for fair fights, can’t you guys go into the SPVP lobby and make a custom 20 person arena ? I think I have done this in the past, but not for a long time so not sure if its still possible.
How many guild raid only guilds out there claim to be able to take 3 gvg guilds on at once without ever entering a gvg I wonder hmm..

Just read through the article, definitely looks like the end of solo roaming to me.
Also I believe there will be way too much environmental interference for guild raids to be fun anymore but we’ll just have to see how things turn out on this matter.
So basically you want to give anything that necro does into a rune so you don’t have to take necros with you into raids?

I know my opinion is leaning towards the making pve mobs imitate players and people dont like that but to be honest there would be no need for an enrage timer if rather than having a large hp pool alone, the bosses could heal themselves on a cooldown. This means that running too tanky as in a 1v1 in pvp would mean you simply do not have enough damage to out damage the boss’ sustain.
It also leads to more counterplay like poison and chill being very valuable and encouraging full use of the combat system which leads to all classes being useful.
Spectral Wall causes enemies to flee in fear… Projectiles are a form of enemy….. Therefore projectiles could be “feared” away…….

Well necros actually have some of the lowest condition output, they do well in cover conditions though. Most of the condition damage coming from a necro would be from transfers, so if youre using a condi build yourself you want to pace yourself until the necro blows his cooldowns.
Yeah I do think this will be a continuation of zerker only to be honest and its not just about the enrage timer. It seems theyre main way to make things challenging is their typical one-shot gimmicks.
I know there are a lot of people out there who like the challenge being doing puzzles while under pressure but personally I would have liked to see encounteres where we use the games combat system to its full potential such as using fields and finishers other than fire field and blast.
Another issue with the continuation of one-shot gimmicks is that this means that necro will continue to not have adequate damage mitigation has blocks and dodges will rule.

I just love the speed at which you do everything with there being so many skills to chain and especially the fact that most of the skills are either instant or a very short cast time, the few that arent serve other purposes even if they miss.

Well there wont really be a point as long as the aoe cap is 5. Even if 10 man parties become possible, the more serious members of the community for both wvw and pve raids will stick with 5 man because it means that they have control over the priority list of who gets the boons and healing etc.
What I mean is for example if you have 4 guards in a 10 man party you dont want 5 of them to get the incoming empowers from all 4 guards and have 5 members of the party completely without might.
About the debuffing role, assuming anet does make this viable against bosses are people sure that people wont simply swap out having a necro for these?

The free accounts is a terrible idea. This means that they will effectively remove what has so far largely culled the amount of gold sellers from the game. If anet does not disable free accounts their ability to send mail, talk on map chat and whisper chat the game will instantly and relentlessly be flooded with gold sellers because they suffer no loss when their accounts are banned. Anyone who played archeage on release will know how out of hand this can get.
