The stated official stance from Anet is that there is no need to gather Hero Points in PvP. A PvP character can access all Elite Specializations (in fact, ALL Specializations and skill) without unlocking them in normal play, and giving them a way to use their PvP progress to bypass PvE content would be unfair to other players.

Afking for 3 minutes at the start of the match is pretty dam leniant.. being afk for what 20 seconds in a very equal matchup will have enough of an impact to the game to cause a loss in my opinion.
How about actually balance the game instead of taking the cheap way out again and hard capping how many of one profession you can have per team?
I guess it’d kinda be like giving away what your build is before the match starts if you remember how little of a full profession an elite spec is, its telling them what your traitlines are.
I think its fine to gate prestigious skins behind long effort/lot of skill performance in individual game modes as long as the tier or quality etc of every time is available in each game mode.
But “tier” is completely irrelevant. What matters is that you get the one that you want. I mean, technically Dawn and Quip are on the same “tier” of items, and yet Dawn is considerably more popular, and if a player wants Dawn, giving them a Quip won’t make them feel better about it. There is no “consolation prize” for this situation, it’s all or nothing.
I’ll also point out that PvE still needs a Legendary backpiece, so far only PvP and Fractals have one, and PvP, WvW, and PvE all still need ways to get legendary armor outside of raiding.
If I _wanted fractal wings I’d have to spend weeks crafting time gated gear and auto attacking colorful scripted bad guys. But that wouldn’t be fun to me, and my wants in life aren’t overshadowed by a desire for virtual backpacks.
But why not? Because the developers arbitrarily attached reward A to content B? Why? Why couldn’t they open it up to several options, so that if you did want the Fractal backpiece, you could earn it by pursuing a PvP achievement line similar to the Ascension ones in complexity?
The three game modes are pve, pvp and wvw. There are ways to get legendary backpieces in two of those modes – pve and pvp. Getting a legendary should require a legendary effort/legendary skill. For pvp and pve you gain the legendary backpiece preferably through the most hardcore extreme of those game modes thats the point. Even if for the most part you can get legendaries in pve with gold farming the idea is that they are not a casual thing.
What you need to cater for is a persons interest in one of the three game modes, not the whole everyones a winner idea.

So as long as you can get a legendary backpiece in each game mode (cough wvw?) i think its fine if each skin is different and you have to put a lot of effort and skill into pvp if you like the pvp skin.
After just advancing into the emerald division after 20-something long games of getting through Amber division, I lost a game because we had a teammate refuse to play. He stayed at home and did nothing. He did not d/c or leave, but he sometimes left home and died while autoattacking the enemy player taking the point. I wouldn’t be too annoyed at this loss if I didn’t lose a pip.
The game is rewarding players who deliberately toss games by making future games easier. When a player comes in with the intent to lose what are the rest of us supposed to do. His loss becomes all of our losses.
Deliberately throwing games is not something that we are OK with, and we should have something in-place in the near future to discourage this activity. I would look for enforcement against this negative behavior to start sometime early next week and may be retroactive since the start of the season.
I can’t really comment on system changes, as that is outside of my realm, however I do know that it’s actively being worked.
Just to clarify, you can report people (with the botting option) if they give up halfway during a match and afk at spawn yes?

Surely they dont need to fix MMR they just need to disable it? Having both leagues and MMR active is like having two different MMR systems that contradict each other active at the same time. League divisions themselves are a form of MMR because by using purely random matchmaking they will sort players into their appropriate divisions and you arrange matches by grouping players within the same division or instead to avoid queue times have pips awarded based on divisions.

The alloy system is not bad, the problem is that there are bad players and some casual calls that are also bad, but I thought fantastic system idea, should fall division also only the best players rise because stand not play with my ranger and view map 3 players fighting one of the opposing team, stop complaining the whole game, it is hard to complain, just want things the easy way? Is in PVE then do not care if that player is top 3, I think some GW2 players is more to play Hello Kitty than PVP when I complaint at all

Am afraid that EOTM will be dead soon. I have been in 6 EOTM yesterday and it was just baghunting. Within 30min our zerg went from 50 to 15. After one hour of baghunting, the tag left so anybody else.
Most people like to do the objectives of the map and when they can’t do it, they just leave. Anet did a great job on the new BL, but some people wont understand that baghunting is what killing WvW. Anyhow am only doing EOTM for dailies, since this baghunting is getting excessive.
Pve is that way
Arenanet doesn’t know how to build a PvP game, they just keep throwing money at tournaments and hope for the best.
They have a really good and imo competent dev team, but the upper management has to go which obviously won’t happen.

Devon says he as the wvw lead hasn’t been working on wvw since March and was told to work on HoT content. It’s most likely as usual anet choice of priorities, turning pve into an archeage level cash cow and continuing to pursue their failed esportsesportsesports dream for spvp.

Pvp needs proof of heroics given in some way in the reward tracks (without diminishing existing rewards ¬¬). They are an item acquired in wvw that can be traded for hero points needed to gain access to the full elite spec for each class.
Before anyone comes in and says pvpers dont need elite specs (for wvw/pve) – they gave us tomes.

ArenaNet have NEVER said that the precourser crafting system would be easier or cheaper then the current way, it’s not meant to be easier, it’s meant to be an alternative method of obtaining a precursorIf your going to distill everything down to basic numbers, then fine don’t craft precursors just buy them if it means that much to you, but don’t come on the forums and cry about how precursors are too difficult to obtain, a legendary is not something handed to you,
2. What happened to the FUN? I found crafting my precursor super interesting and compelling, having to create a basic weapon then slowly upgrading and infusing it with various magics and strange items throughout the world

Welcome to an MMO, legendary weapons are not some super cheap thing everyone gets as a “thanks for playing”, that’s why they are legendary weapons, as I said, if you don’t like it, you shouldn’t be playing MMO’s
Please don’t kid yourself, there is nothing legendary about farming gold.. it took no skill whatsoever. That’s what precursor crafting should be about, doing miniquests that require a legendary amount of skill. Not who can put up with farming the most gold while being too stupid to realize they could sell those mats and buy the precursor for cheaper off the tp.
It uses the necros, you are the new source so it uses your stats but it uses the time remaining as the duration.
Is that the same with the revenant spreading or does that work the same way as a transfer?

Who cares lol the prices plummeted immediately cos wvwers seem to think it’s a good idea in the long run to undercut each by stupids amounts thinking a product trading at decent velocity is gonna sell any faster by a meaningful amount.
It was a decent idea to give wvwers some income but ultimately they didn’t create enough demand for it to last more than a few days.
Edit: well taking another look at the prices looks like it was able to spike, hopefully it lasts but I have a feeling that was just because of the lack of participation in wvw since HoT.

It would be a disaster to make enemies more intelligent than an average player.
Well there’s your answer, people would rather faceroll brain dead mobs against a dps timer than engage in challenging encounters that properly utilize the existing combat system.
They already had far better AI than is seen in the game now as far back as the original beta but it was nerfed because everyone complained it was too hard in the same way they complain about snipers etc now.
He was pushing boss early on foefire…… -_- He basicly made it a 4v5 for the first 2 mins of the game. And he didnt kill it since they had more than enough time to run back and take him out.
If your going to push boss at beginning you need to do a fee things, you need to make sure the other team doesn’t have a theif that could potentially steal, you need to make sure you can kill the thing quickly .

You guys realize that’s the original point of golems right.. ‘re-usable’ very strong siege but slow and vulnerable to open field attack. All I see is a bunch of complaining karma trainers.

Checking for killing blow via percentage damage of a cummulative condition tick looks to be quite complicated. However, sorting the damage by last person to update their condition stack or first person to apply the condition looks much easier.
Downstate would have the same problem when letting the NPC bleed out.
Well surely you’d have to follow suit and let the last person to apply damaging conditions to get the kill because with physical damage the last hit no matter how pathetic the damage would get the kill.
How can a guild with such a high popularity be so arrogant and feel like gods after clearing PUGable content and training for a month?

Lol it’s not about the playerbase, its about the bad publicity from becoming a laughingstock if everyone heard their hyped up raid content got speed cleared in 15 mins on release day and the only thing stopping it from becoming a pseudo-farmable dungeon was the weekly reward cap.
Am I the only one hearing how salty anet is that the raid can be speed cleared in 15 mins. Also lol as little as people are gonna want to admit it, the future raids are only gonna be speed cleared even faster of there is only a world boss guild testing it.
So this megalaser event is the exact opposite of an anti-blob mechanics and lol to top it off you have to run from the outer-most edge of the map to defend an entire border yeah sure..
In my opinion we already had it with the original blighters boon… aaaand it got nerfed in a matter of days because people had to think differently from ‘focus the necromancer’.
Unfortunately, it goth nerfed because it was too strong. And the problem with its original version is that it was hard to balance. It could be god-mode in some team comps (like running 2 glint revenants) or poor in others. Unfortunately, a-net decided to change it so that it does not fit its original purpose.
I do think a more intelligent fix would have been “you are healed/gain LF every second for each boon you have on you, max 4 boons”, this way there is an upper limit to how much you can receive, but yet do benefit from having allies around since it is hard for necros to gain different boons alone.In any case, this would be only a bandaid to what really needs to be done:
- nerf necromancer passive sustain (potentially by “a lot”)
- give necromancer some active sustain (I think at least one spectra skill should make you evade/invuln, since this would be very thematic; I think it would be nice also with a corruption: trade some non-scalable damage to get scalable defense)
- allow necromancer to receive ally heal in shroud
Meh the issue here was the revenant not the reaper, I think the wrong class got nerfed/tweaked. I also think this was a great compromise for not being able to receive heals in shroud and only highlighted the boon spam problem in the game.

I was just thinking that rather than corruption being our most highly theorized reason for bringing a necro to raids (boon stripping seems to be readily available for other classes) and reaper’s tanking going out the window because of the blighters boon nerfed I reckon we could have a place because of the unblockable stuff.
Combination of the shout giving unblockable to allies for the boss using skills that let him block and dagger warhorn for if he’s rapidly pulsing aegis, and less dependably soloing the breakbar with the help of staff marks during the boss using long block skills but I guess it scales too high for that. Finally there’s also the wells for a little unblockable burst damage.

And lol if ~5 people fighting the same ~5 people on a video that crops the fights from a large amount of time defending an upgrading keep without seeing another soul isn’t a tell tale sign to you that population wise the border is dead I don’t know what to say. Don’t take every opportunity you can to push for the propaganda that the game mode isnt dwindling.
As for my opinion I personally think the map is pretty much fine except it’s built to house far more players than even the map cap and we’re having issues with finding more than 10 people per server on it.
On three separate occasions I have gone 2-3 hours of roaming without actually finding an enemy player.

To be clear, I don’t want high tier players moving down to lower tiers, we don’t need “that kind” in our community. But the whingers in the lower tier should transfer up if they’re not happy in our communities.

Do you guys really believe that we have enough WvW players to fill 24 servers?
Transfering will not solve my issue… I am on t1 that should be full of players and WvW is empty, borderlands almost dead… going to a lower server will not solve it… I have no problem with my server, the problem is WvW as a whole… it is empty even roaming sucks on the borderlands, EBG is not so bad but I would not like to have only one viable map…
I would like to understand why you guys think WvW is good as it is now. What exactly is this playstyle you guys are defending so hard that is working on the server you are now? If you dont mind to explain it.
1. No, nor do we want or expect all servers to be “full” all the time.
2. Are you referring to the current situation? If yes, then I would say most people are grinding masteries in PvE, which would explain a drop in players in WvW. I don’t play during NA prime-time, nor have I spent any time in T1 WvW, but it seems highly unlikely that T1 would be “dead”.
Everyone is claiming that their server is “dead” and forced to face other servers with much greater numbers. Well, if all servers are “dead”, then which server is everyone referring to that has great numbers? And why don’t you move to that server?
3. It’s a little different for each person, but personally the main appeal of smaller populations is that I feel like my contribution matters more, as opposed to being a drop of water in a vast laggy ocean.
Dead servers refers to roaming for hours and not meeting another soul, in this case hoping to find an enemy to fight. With this level of low population people are far more concerned with not finding anyone to fight rather than how many there are on their side. People arent complaining about lop-sided matchups here theyre talking about matchups where there isnt any actual player vs player taking place.
So I dunno if this is a bug or as usual an oversight but seriously, reaper’s most abundant combo field combined with its most abundant finisher doesnt do half of what its supposed to in shroud.

Sure if we change lifeforce generation so that all weapon skills give life force and some skills can give 100% life force with a single button, remind you of anything?
If our skills are even able to connect to even start building up that adren which is currently slow as kittening hell or which after we have enough adren to make that one burst which gets randomly blinded for us to start building up that adren yet again….etc etc.Dont try to make it seem youre the underpowered class,you kittening aint.
Imagine if only 1 or 2 of those skills actually built up adrenaline.. rather than slamming anything on the opponent.
How about if you have to refrain from using your only form of defense to absorb damage because if you do you get locked out of 5 of your profession’s skills. Shall I go on about how you have to kindly refuse healing from your teammates and indirectly lowering the effectiveness of a druid being in your team by refusing to accept the main reason he would be included in the team comp. Hmm cant use your utilities, heal, elite oh and your signet passives dont have any effect for half the fight.
We still counter our own traits, looking at you parasitic contagion how is this still not dealt with? What about how our most abundant combo field – dark, and reaper’s most abundant finisher – whirl, doesnt do half of whats its supposed to because your shroud blocks the dam heal from leeching bolts.
I know how much chaos itll cause communities and such if there are merges however, guys I looked at some old videos of my server from when it was in the same tier but years ago.. and it suddenly reminded me of what real world vs world was. That sense of heroism and glory came rushing back, I think everyone in this thread has just been watching wvw in its slow decline for so long to the point where they didnt notice how much it changed. Go and look at some videos of your servers from 2 years back and you will realise how big of a difference it is. In the old days even down in the bottom tiers it was swarms of guild groups working with the defense groups to desperately rush between keeps in time to defend them from the big bad map blobs.
People are saying its a different style of play to like to play on lower pop servers but that arguement doesnt hold the same weight as it did before, before it was a difference between blobs and small scale but now.. if you server has such a low pop that you find yourselves back-capping each other’s camps and never meeting the opponent youre ppting against thats pve not wvw, remember the difference.
And seriously, looking at those videos I’m getting the feeling that ‘I want to play that game’ and im realising why im so put off from wvw nowadays and just floating around in spvp.

Does quickness have any effect on aftercasts or is it literally only halving the time for effectively the yellow cast bar to complete its process?
