I am mostly curious if i can acces this map without having an overflow..
I hope it will be like sanctum, only less empty.

The map can be accessed from the B window (WvW window) just like Sanctum.

The GUI for the window is also being updated, and will be more streamlined.

Also to note: Every regional server will be grouped together to fill the EotM maps (not just your server), that is their plan anyways.

As for the falling off thing…ya, there are alot of places to fall, but in action, it is actually rather seldom. The center area of the map is pretty solid, with only a few places that could be a hazard, and you would not normally travel near them….but bridges…bridges everywhere!

Honestly, I think an almost direct port of the GvG from GW1 would work well…

They would just need to rework the mapping so that the Z axis isn’t as abusable…

And unfortunately one of the things that people overlook, but was an integral part of GvG was the physics in body-blocking, which do not exist in GW2 (but they should)

Where do I acquire backpacks for sPvP?

It is all cosmetic, so the backpacks are skins, the things from the forge are skins.

Every stat you can get is given from the vendors.

If you have ever used a skin item and it gives that “use normally / convert to pvp” that is the option to turn them into pvp skins.

As for the forge, there are some recipes depending on the types of tokens you put in that can yield different skins for weapons.

You can also use the forge to create dye.

It is a grey area. I think they originally wanted to create this as a “waiting room” for when high population servers have map ques.

This map will react the same way as a PvE map, it will fill up, and then create overflows as it gains players.

But the balance needs major tweaking currently, as it does not support low population in the map itself (which I would assume be the case for players simply waiting to enter WvW)

It provides no points towards your server score, and acts closer to a strange bridge between all 3 game-modes (spvp, WvW, PvE)

It has potential to be a good PvP area, but right now it is littered with PvE mobs with high health pools which would make low populations an absolute nightmare to play the map with.

Using the windowed mode ratios and the “boss camera” are simply clever use of game mechanics….

If Anet started banning everyone who used eyefinity with multi-monitors things would turn into a $!@#storm.

They are not using any 3rd party programs (bannable), they are using ratios that could be obtained via very large resolutions in the exact same way.

If you were to use the windowed mode shrink as an example, it would be the equivalent of having a string of monitors changing the resolution width to a massive scale, giving the exact same effect.

Currently in the Edge of the Mists testing area, there are only 2 waypoints available (your main keep, and your spawn/safe zone)

They are not upgrades, they come standard with the areas, and the only way of gaining more waypoints is to capture an area with one (enemy keeps)

Where are “Guild Wars” in Guild Wars 2?
Can’t find them,
there is not even a guild tag shown in the gw2 ladders.
Is there any button, i can challenge other guilds in spvp to show off my guild is the best?
Ps. I want my gold cape!

Guild Wars 2 is so named because it’s the sequel to Guild Wars.

Guild Wars was called such for two (probably related) reasons.

  1. Guilds played a much larger role in PvP, particularly in guild battles (“GvG”). Calling the game “Guild Wars” described the central focus of the game’s PvP scene.
  2. A very obscurely mentioned (and practically insignificant) piece of lore was the “Guild Wars,” which ended at the very beginning of the first chapter of the game. It had very little bearing on anything that happened in the story of any part of the games, and if the player never heard of the “Guild Wars” in the game’s lore, nothing would be lost.

Personally, I think the lore was probably written in to justify naming the game for a PvP feature. To support my theory, I postulate that a handful of NPCs mentioning the event is insufficient reason to name the entire franchise after it. Otherwise, they would have named it something like “Chosen,” a term which actually became important in the storyline. Calling it “Guild Wars,” though, meant any RPG fan would know what it was about— one group of players competing against another.

The guild functionality of the first game was very different. Only one guild could be joined at a time, there were no guild buffs, and guild missions hadn’t been invented yet; however, guild battles and guild halls gave us options that are currently nonexistent.

Regardless, the name has been set and can’t easily be changed. Only the game can be changed to fit the name, but that probably isn’t a priority at this time. (It’s encouraging to see Josh’s comment above, though.)

The lore is the entire foundation of the story…and the reason the world exists as it does…

Once Again: Camera Zoom

Letting us zoom out a bit farther, and allowing us to use a first person camera would be a great QoL change.

Allowing us to actually see our surroundings rather than full emphasis on our character. Letting people actually enjoy the artwork and scenery put into the game ,rather than a camera shoved into the ground looking up your characters !$@.

It would just be really…really nice (please)

i cant find any SF or HoD that will put up a decent fight without allies or guards to help them and when its 5vsme I get chased across the entire map.

where da fighters at?

I had this happen to me earlier today ;p

lol troll a group with GS mobility, kill a ranger and necro, then kill a ranger and some uplevels while they are under cannon/AC fire, then more uplevels.

the only level 80s you killed outside of siege fire were the ranger/necro that clearly weren’t great.

that’s always fun but I wish you’d have run into me instead of them >.<

That’s why it is called trolling…I am just pestering a group, and having a laugh…btw pay attention to the color of that tower with the cannon…its not mine either(SF = Red, kitten)

Best part is that it is the SAME ranger, every time lol (Send that ranger some gold so he can buy a better connection! :P)

GJ being a debbie downer though, have a laugh every once in a while you tryhard!

im not saying it wasnt fun but since you replied to my post I thought you were implying you found good fights (that I was complaining I wasn’t finding).

leave it to me to be 1/2 asleep and not catch that detail, good call -.-

im sure there could be a variation that would make it work though…considering it can be altered using the 3 bar adrenaline system to change its distance, damage, knockback etc.

It would more or less have the same cooldown as Savage Leap, and to validate it as a burst skill, could be only 1200 range when using at full adrenaline.

Alot of people complain about 2 things with the GS:

The warriors mobility, and the lackluster burst skill.

So make Arcing slice skill 5…done

Change the functionality of Rush to act more like the Flesh Golems rush/charge attack. (possibly make it a ground target)….done

Or just leave arcing slice, fix it later, and change the functionality of rush and leave it as skill 5….w/e works

I have been getting some crazy lag lately (last 3-4 days?)

Sometimes it seems to be functional, others it gives me a 2-5 second delay (usually not a complete disconnect though)

Seems to have been worse in sPvP and WvW than usual at any rate. Quite annoying.

I will have a video up in a few minutes….it will be a good demonstration on WHY this garbage should be removed from the rotation…

Before it is uploaded, I will give a quick rundown:

I get pulled into a pit by Scorpion Wire, hit the ground and take no damage….to find another one of my allies also down underneath the map with me.

Essentially the team is now 2 players down, and the match starts to snowball, so we give up and run around below the map for the rest of the time pretty much. (yes, we could let the worms kill us, but we all just want the match to end so we don’t have to play the kitten map anymore.)

The fact that it happened is one thing, but this is just not supposed to even be FEASIBLE in tournaments…this is complete garbage through and through.

Buggy, untested, unreliable, and more-or-less hated by the community, yet they leave it in for a reason they won’t tell us. Perhaps they just enjoy watching what remains of their community get kitten ed off at their lack of transparency and proper testing.

It is the principle that bothers me the most….that is TWENTY-FIVE Levels worth of Experience in PvE (not including the skill challenges of course)

Even a PvE player would HATE this as they are leveling….

Let’s take a look at possible issues:

In PvE, you must unlock TIERS of skills (utilities and elites) to unlock more….this is a massive skill point investment in and of itself. Add on top of that a single, SINGLE, healing skill costs roughly the equivalent of an ELITE skill….yes a healing skill that is more than likely worse than the others available….costing roughly EIGHT times the amount of exp/levels/skillpoints of it’s supposed equals.

Was this not even on the minds of the people who had the idea? Did they actually try leveling a brand new character to see how long it would take to unlock this new skill? And not in a biased way either, legitimately leveling, unlocking utilities as you gain your unlocked slots etc. your elite skills, and playing normally?

Completely absurd, this is not an “end-game” skill, and it should not be treated as if the only people attempting to access it is a level 80 sitting on hundreds of skill points…

Facts:

- It takes 20 skill points to simply unlock the final tier of utility skills, and those skills in tier 3 cost 6 each.
- Elites cost 10 each, and require 20 total spent points to unlock the final tier.
- The final tier Elite skills cost a mere 5 skill points more than the new healing skill.
- The equivalent skill points for a single new healing skill is more than 10 utility skills combined.
- The cost difference between the new skills and previous is a whopping 8x accumalative.

You guys really, REALLY need to work on your “no grind” philosophy….or at least hire someone who can equate basic mathematics…

Unlocking rarer and rarer skins for my character is something I have always enjoyed…

The problems with that in this game is that:

a.) The cosmetics are too thin, not enough customization (aka you can never change the color of a glow/effect on armor pieces/weapons.

b.) lack of weapon dye and customizations (why not let us build a weapon? various types of hilts and blades etc. that can be unlocked and used to “build” your perfect sword)

c.) Progression < Having fun….having fun should always be the priority. Next time you add any kind of progression ask yourself “is this enjoyable to do?” is it enjoyable to craft ascended armor? (imo….not even in the slightest) I would have actually prefered it be a reward in a fun dungeon instead.

c.2) Refining the core of the game (give every zone a story, or instance, or activity to participate in, other than metas and events….what is with that bandit stronghold in Brisban? make it something people can play and have fun with) would make more sense right now, than looking at new forms of character progression. If the core game isnt fun enough to stand by itself without progression, then adding progression on top of it will make it even less so.

to be honest, with the way the current system is being implemented, nothing will fix the progression in place, because it has already started to drive itself into the river of mediocrity.

The latest example was ascended gear….if this type of thing is going to be added, give players of all types a fun way to get these (buying/farming materials, being time-gated, and feeling like working a second job to get access to these is ANTI-fun)

tl;dr

skins, achievements, and core content that improves you as a player, rather than the gear doing it for you. More skills, traits, and ways to make your character “you” customizing skills, new options.

>> I would like to suggest adding custom siege skins for WvW (Bandit, Orrian, Centuar, Lionguard skins for catapults, ballistae, trebuchets would be something I am sure a lot of people would work towards)

And please….go back and rewatch that Manifesto video a few extra times and try and let it sink in.

F1 is the main change that is needed….and for Rush, just make it similar to Rocket Boots for engi…

What would be great for us, is to on any of our weapon sets have a PULL…maybe that can be worked into blade trail?! if it striked on the return hit.

Attack Power over Armor Rating?

I have a slight dilemma, in which I have 2 sets of armor, but they both provide a boost to either stat.

In one set I use Hoelbrak, which provides mainly power, with some might variables and a reduction in condi duration.

The other set uses Melandru, providing mainly toughness, and providing a 5% higher reduction of conditions and stun durations, while providing nothing for offensive.

Using a set of knights with melandru, compared to a zerker set with Hoelbrak, I can create a disparity of only 208 power, but a whopping 480 armor and 16% critical damage between them.

I am torn between the 2, and am trying to determine which would be the more advantageous stat to focus on (if toughness/armor in fact has a diminishing point)

Let us take a look over the weapon skills, how we can improve them, and gauge their effectiveness:

Sword: (Good Mobility)
1) Ok
2.) Ok
3.) Still needs a more fluid animation
4.) Ok
5.) High tendancy to miss, main use as a block, attack rarely connects.
F1) Ok, maybe could use a range buff (self-rooting)

Axe: (Lacks Mobility)
1.) Chain needs rework
2.) Ok
3.) Lackluster, should be reworked
4.) Too slow + lackluster
5.) Pitiful Damage + No utility + Broken whirl finisher
F1) Ok

Mace: (lacks all mobility)
1.) Very slow, but Ok
2.) Same as Sword 5, counter-attack is an afterthought, main use is block, should be reworked.
3.) Ok
4.) Low vulnerability, Lackluster, Insanely Slow. Rework
5.) Ok
F1) (need adequate testing after patch)

Shield:
4.) Ok
5.) Ok

Warhorn:
4.) Ok

Rifle: (Lacks all mobility)
1.) Needs to become power oriented (change bleed for Vuln). rework

Longbow: (ONLY weapon with a combo field)
1.) Slow attack speed, no additional effect. Needs rework

F1) Revert changes made, damage normalization, skill did not gain adrenaline. (which was the supposed reason it was changed.) Revert

Greatsword:
1.) Slow attack, average damage.

5.) Skill causes pathing issues, high chance of missing, loses control of character. Rework
F1) Needs rework, not worth noting. Average Damage, access to boons we have access to already. Does not fit the role of a burst skill. (no burst of anything…)

Hammer:
1.) Ok
2.) Below average attack speed
3.) Ok
4.) Ok (need adequate damage testing)
5.) Ok (Risk/Reward)
F1.) Z-Axis needs fixing, “teleport” bug needs fixing (animation bug), need adequate testing for damage.

For a master of arms, we are running dangerously low on useful skills. Having only a small portion of weapon sets that have a good full combination of skills is holding back much of the variation and enjoyment of playing the class. Fixing key skills and improving the cohesion of the weapon sets will go a long way into making the gameplay much more enjoyable and much less stagnant.

Try to keep the topic civil, and add your own notes as to what skills you believe fall towards the “useless” or “lackluster” side of weapon design and skill usage. And which should be retuned or reworked to better fit its set, or the classes use.

One major note, is that aside from the Longbow, the weapon sets have no combo fields to aid in team oriented or self-comboing battles.

It is true, they really have fallen into a false sense of transparency.

They will tell us what they are planning, but not listen to us when we see something obviously wrong.

Im not too sure the longbow F1 damage was “normalized” either. The tooltip reflects it, but the damage is kitten poor now. Not worth using in a power build anymore. Same damage per tick as before…but now every 3 seconds instead of 1? so it has been royally kitten.

You would think some random schmuck at the office could be like “oh i will just build some adrenaline and throw the longbow F1 into those golems…..wut? noe adren gane!? BUG!!”

Crack Shot: Added a piercing fact to the trait and to the affected skills when it is traited.
Healing Signet: Added an interval fact.
Eviscerate: Fixed a bug that caused the damage facts to display the damage levels with Burst Mastery at all times.
Uppercut: Fixed the damage facts in regards to Burst Mastery.
Earthshaker: Fixed the skill facts to indicate the damage increase when Burst Mastery is traited.
Forceful Shot: Fixed the skill facts to indicate the damage increase when Burst Mastery is traited.

Call to Arms: Added an unblockable fact and range indicator to this skill.
Rifle Butt: Fixed a bug that prevented the knockback fact from displaying the correct distance.
Signet of Stamina: Fixed a bug that prevented this skill from properly removing all conditions.
Shrug It Off: Fixed a bug so that prevented the “Shake It Off!” skill triggered from this trait to properly break fear. Decreased the radius of Shrug It Off to 600 to match the radius of “Shake it Off!” Updated the facts to reflect the trait’s functionality.
“Shake It Off!”: Updated the skill fact for conditions removed to display the actual number of conditions removed.
Desperate Power: Fixed a bug in which this trait would work while above the intended health threshold.

So they change to gain 1 adrenaline on crit instead of 3 is intended i understand. How nice, and i hear “no stealth nerfs was done”

kitten , that sounds so fun…

I hope this is another one of the issues that will be resolved…hopefully sooner than later.

I actually kinda wish there was a skill/toggle we could just activate for open world PvP…

Click the skill/button, channels for 5 seconds, then you are flagged or unflagged for open PvP….bam done.

Some folks just don’t get it I guess, when Karate started getting big in the US they extended the belt color system because people like to advance and feel more powerful. Student, Teacher, Master just wasn’t enough….

Arenanet learning that lesson. Once you have all your toons looking the way you want then theres nothing much to do. If people aren’t playing then they aren’t buying gems. The parent company isn’t showing a good return because the boxed game isn’t selling as hot as it was ether.

You only have to look at the biggest MMO of all time to see that theres a lot of people who enjoy, or at least don’t mind a bit of grind. Even with this new armor theres still a heck of a lot less grind here than in most MMOs.

The stat gains are modest enough and you really don’t NEED the new ascended gear for any content in the game now.

In the end its a lot cheaper to increase people’s power a little bit threw stats on gear then it is to expand the trait lines.

Or they could do the next best thing…create more fun content people WANT to participate in, instead of a carrot on a stick that slows down the content you do want to participate in (via gold, or time)

TBH….I would actually rather them add mounts and raiding, than add more nonsensical statistical changes to the game.

Regardless of how minute, they do influence the game’s balance, and motivations.
