Most people already know this, and Anet has said this themselves.
The reason for that is that the 3 pieces you start with as a level1 freshly created character, is the chest/boots/pants.
I think it’s a reasonable idea. I’d give it a cone and not a circle imo, make it a little bit more skillshotty.

I have never seen that combo….and I doubt it would be a Skullcrack > Killshot combo…because you would only be using a 1 bar killshot (they are both bursts)
TBH, I don’t think you should need advice to beat this type of build, I am honestly surprised you lost to it in the first place o.O
Is anyone else having a problem with their rewards bars? I have mine activated (I even changed tracks to see if the bug is related to a particular track) but after 10 games or so the rewards progress is still not moving…
You only gain progression for 10 games from custom arena/hotjoin servers. You can continue to gain towards your track by queuing into Solo Arenas and Team Arenas
In the right team composition, a power ranger is fully capable of being a dps support in mid-range pvp, but they also compete with thieves and mesmers in the exact same regard.
They can offer displacement and point DPS from a range that requires the enemy to send someone off to get you, while still staying safe, being able to freely hop between mid and close points.
The only problem is that Thief and Mesmer offer better duelist power, while thief is safer, mesmer adds more condis and CC from a power build at range but takes longer to get its full effect into place.
Barrage and Rapid fire can practically negate aegis from a bunker guardian on a point with the amount of “hits” registered, while throwing in 20-25 stacks of vulnerability and some good crit damage.
Wolf howl and point blank are CC on demand.
But in the end, you are essentially a wasp just annoying the crap out of people until they come hunt you down. If your team isnt capable of spiking a target down, you are useless as an offpoint DPS.
Go to youtube. Type in something like “Gw1 Heroes Ascent r15 dragon finisher”. Compare that finisher (8 years old) to ours now. Proceed to facepalm on how much better all /ranks were in gw1.
It is possible the new gemstore finisher will look a lot like the GW1 r15 dragon. This is the model for the finisher (and minipet that will also be released). I’m guessing it will be a part of Dragon Bash or maybe it has something to do with the China release.

I kinda want to write up a compilation thread of all the stuff in the reward tracks that needs to be fixed, one way or another. So far I’ve got:
- No in-game notification of hotjoin progress limit
- Incorrect labelling of chest at end of reward track
- Unique “skins” are actually unique SKINS when they would be better off as actual exotic weapons
Make sure you include the fact that the item chests can actually contain whites and greys (trophy items in spvp? really?!)

Or add spectator/server control with pause functionality for admins…like any company with common sense would do when trying to work towards an e-sports goal
It was actually a total of 3 disconnects, and it was on the losing team.
The pheonix was already in the game, and we already knew what it looked like. The dragon was a wildcard, and I think it doesn’t fit at all. The Pheonix looks fine though imo…
Rewards:
We are on the right track for rewards, but a few tweaks definitely need to be made. The physical items from dungeon tracks (weapons/armor) are good, allowing you to choose the stats are good as well, but limiting stats is confusing considering how far into the games lifespan we are (why is it limited in sPvP in the first place?)
The reward BOXES on the other hand need to have a change, in all tracks, and in both PvE AND PvP. The fact that these prestige chests can reward a player with a grey trophy item (see: Broken Lockpick) is just a straight slap in the face. And even in PvE, these items should NOT come from a chest, period.
The rewards also give you nothing to help with sPvP, and the plethora of blues and greens are nothing but salvage fodder.
Now onto things I wouldn’t mind seeing added or changed:
The miniscule crafting materials, unsellable ascended materials, and mini-track rewards should be interchangeable. Things like Tomes of Knowledge are completely useless to me, I have all classes at level 80 and feels wasteful to use for skill points (which I have too many of as well) letting my choose from a dropdown list of 3-5 items instead would be a great deal nicer to people who have different ideas of what is rewarding.
Also, a long track, with different objectives to complete (not just rank points) that lead towards a precursor would be a great addition as well.
Otherwise, the system has alot of potential, and is a great addition.
Just remove the grey/useless PvE items from the reward chests, and things will start looking a little better :p
They talked about adding ladders and leagues “soon” in another thread, eventually…maybe 2 years from now, they will have a system that splits skill levels properly, balanced classes, and proper rewards.
Is anyone actually reading what I posted? At the very bottom I said “EDIT: WE WERE DOING AN ARENA BATTLE, SO WE GOT ABSOLUTELY NO KILLS. THERE WERE NO POINTS TO CAP”. Yet half the posts I see here are telling me to capture points.

So what you mean by “Arena Battle” is actually TDM Courtyard? When I see “Arena” I figure Team Arenas or Solo Arena….cuz you know….arena…
Currently TDM is in beta, it is not a supported gamemode yet anyways, so I doubt their way of handing out points will be how they are supposed to be, and will probably be seeing alot of changes in the future. If you want to be guaranteed some points/match bonuses, you will want to play Conquest.
For future reference, try to avoid the allcaps, it really doesn’t help you get a point across, just makes you look whiney :/
I personally think the treb should start out destroyed and require a repair kit at the start of the match :/
You get points for assists, you get points for decaps, points for caps, points for treb hits (or other secondary objectives based on the map)
If you just ran around, trying to kill people and failing, and not helping to get any of the capture points…I think it is only fitting you do not get a reward.
And yes…if you aid in the death of an enemy (even bu hitting him only a few times) and someone else kills him, you do get points.
So the fact that you got 0 reward must have meant your entire team simply did nothing to win the match, and this, no reward is given, that is not how the game-mode is designed.
That is kind of like saying I missed the first jump in a jumping puzzle, but someone else finished it, I should get the chest too just because I jumped once and missed.
I’ve been running power ranger LB in tpvp just fine, just because it didn’t work before the patch, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work now.
on maps like foefire and temple, you can effectively cover your bunker, 3 shotting lights and forcing defensives from opposing bunks.
Fear and point-blank for people trying to res their downed, barrage to stop dodge retreats, stealth for when they inevitably try and send someone to try and deal with you.
Autos hitting for 3-4k crits per, just plinking without the possibility of retaliation unless they give up the point.
Just because the game-mode is conquest, doesn’t mean 100% of your team has to be on the point. Having an on-point bunker and DPS on 2 safe points with a ranger to roam between the home and mid points is perfectly viable.
dodge, blind, aegis, stability….etc. etc. etc. there is alot to account for.

I have encountered recently that after attacking the group of Test Golems in HotM, I managed to go clear across the map and yet still be stuck in combat.
This means I was unable to change my traits, weapons, etc. at all until I joined a match.
I didn’t notice it was sellable, I missed out on some easy gold
Or even some not-so-new players…let me explain
I have been observing the influx of players, and watching how builds have been changing along with this new patch but there is one glaring recurrence I have been seeing over and over and over again.
Players do not realize that their traits have changed when they start spvp. Some do not realize there is an amulet system, and how the UI functionality works (or that it even exists)
I can nearly go into every single pvp hotjoin right now and point out someone who is using the “default” traits the game gives you. (warrior ex. 0/20/20/0/30)
These players immediately try to pvp with the traits the game provides, and are not changing their PvP traits and equipment
I believe that most of these players believe they are using the same traits they use for PvE or WvW.
I believe before a player can join any spvp arena, they should be locked until they change at least 1 thing in the sPvP UI (even if they change it to the exact same thing)
This would guarantee players know it exists. and hopefully a proper hint based tutorial will show them how to use it.
As long as you have the weapons in your inventory, you can swap them at any time. You can access the “PvP Build” button while in any hotjoin/custom/HotM area, as well as tourny prior to match start.
Please let us move this to another area of the screen (at the very least)
But aside from that, suggestions would include:
-Allow us to choose how often the window will re-appear (second/minute intervals)
-Show the full time remaining until match start (instead of just “1 minute” even though it is higher)
-Allow us to have the option for it to play a sound when the window appears (global, non application specific)
-Remove it as a window entirely, and give it it’s own section of the UI (such as where the new PvP Build / Arena / etc. area is directly below the score.
I went from Rank 42 to rank 46….maybe 46 is some kind of “threshold”
8v8 is so inaccurate as to how you’re supposed to play the game and made it so that new people have no idea how to do actual 5v5s when they solo queue.
It’s much better off just being an extra thing for hot joins rather than the main mode that it used to be. Also it’s not like finding games is actually that hard.
And what about skyhammer? Your not suppose to win fights by knocking your opponents off the map how about outskilling them, yet they left that in the game. If anything has done more harm to the pvp community in this game its that map and that should be removed, not 8v8’s.
Skyhammer isn’t in TeamQ, only hotjoin and SoloQ. The map simply shouldn’t exist, and it shouldnt be compared to how 5v5 and 8v8 plays out.
5v5 is better for the community overall. But they should have a few more 8v8 for the people who enjoy the cluster!$@#
I’ve actually used Sigil of Fire and Air on my greatsword and it is actually really strong.
Yeah thats fun if they both proc at the same time while landing a burst that also crits.Fire + Air is a pretty strong combo for dpsing.Purity + Generosity will also become a really strong combo,for cleansing that is.
I thought there was a shared internal cooldown between all on-proc sigs and on-swap sigs so that you couldn’t have the situation above take place. (i.e., proccing the air sig would cause both the air and fire sigs to go on cooldown.) Its been a while since I’ve tested or read up on this so it may have changed since then.
this last patch removed shared cooldowns, the ones that share are 2 of the exact same sigil (2x Fire)

I achieved a second reward, and completed a Daily sPvP achievement that wasn’t listed.
They still exist, you just can’t see them anywhere.
I noticed this while playing this morning, I got my “5 SoloQ Wins” or w/e one, but when I looked into the Daily list, it wasn’t even there.
Not only that, I got a second daily reward from it (I completed the daily yesterday night for the first reward)
I just don’t see the Daily tracks listed there at all, even though you can complete them, and they will give you the popup to confirm.

They are both very similar but:
1 requires a crit (not everyone runs crit builds) and transfers the condition
1 can be procced on any hit, but only removes it instead.
I don’t think it is ever a good play to throw something brand new into tournament play.
It doesn’t matter as much in GW2, but still, it is always a better idea to see how the map pans out over time, then add it to the queue later on.

SO! What ever happened to:
“What we’re gonna do going forward is we might not do a big patch It’s just as soon as [things are] ready we might just throw [them] in.”
“People keep asking every single patch ‘when is the big patch?’ so what we do for alot of these things is we broke alot of this stuff up and started throwing it out [as it is ready]. So we made the decision let’s just get this to the players now there’s no sense in making them wait.”
“We want to do a really big patch with a lot of hooplah behind it but then we just started realizing these things are done why won’t we just give them to the player right now… We might not do a big patch where we make you wait till April or May or June whatever that will be at this point, we might just say as soon as it’s ready we’ll get that stuff out so we might not do a big patch”
With this “feature” patch, there are alot of pieces being put in place, why aren’t these placed in day by day? so you can observe what works, what’s bugged, and what works fine.
With a patch like this, you can ALREADY SEE, even without it being out yet, that there seems to be a lot of behind the scenes “nervousness” holding the patch back minute by minute.
Is something not working? maybe you shouldn’t be trying to bundle it with everything that does….

I think most of it is ire towards the people who farmed Skyhammer to gain their rank, if that entire debacle never happened, not as many people would have an issue with the time spent
To be clear: before tomorrow’s patch you should open all of your tournament chests, spend all of your glory, and use all of your PvP crafting materials.
Think X armor doesn’t fit your character’s appearance? Craft it anyways and put it in your locker.

Yep they told us spend all your glory then they went ahead and removed glory earlier than expected leaving me with 1k tourney chests that are now useless because I can’t buy salvage kits
you can buy Salvage kits…they are 96c each, and it has been that way shortly after the glory change was made…

It has a portal at the rear side, and oddly, an asuran gate behind where the Bandits are stationed on the wall.
Both the Asuran Gate and the zone portal are non-functioning.

I am disappoint Anet!
So me and a friend were looking at a GW1/GW2 overlay map, and went exploring to find some areas to reminisce about.
After a while I thought I would go check out the area near Gadd’s Encampment and the Bloodstone Caves.
Needless to say, Gadd’s Encampment doesn’t exist (its just some poorly textured rocks with no physics, and the edge of the world)
But after looking for the bloodstone caves, came across this:
There is a tiny cave system with a door, but nothing else, like it was meant to be something, but was never created….
I wonder if areas like these will eventually get added to the Living Story
I also broke the map and got on top of the caves area with the door, and its just a giant pit.
Hold the entire tourny on Skyhammer….nuff said
