What concerns me about this week more than the size of the zergs is the complete lack of posts from roamers on FA/DB. Roaming guilds basically always have at least a couple people who like to post on forums, and yet nothing. This most likely means that there are no roaming guilds on those two servers, and probably few if any solo roamers either. In other words, another week with nothing to do but wipe zergs, which got boring years ago. I don’t like the spvp format, but I find it harder and harder to do this kind of wvw after playing tpvp and actually fighting good groups.
If there are any skilled guilds on either of these two servers, or even just individuals, please, let me know. I much prefer wvw, but I need good fights to have fun.
[BT] is really good and i’d probably put them tops on our server. One does not simply engage Quenta or Malose. Or I guess you do, and then they kill you. It’s actually a neat and tidy transaction from what I understand.
Highlight of the day was wiping 15 [RET] with our 5 man
ps: i look forward to fight your best eles, especially excala.
an honour to fight you sire
maguuma i dont mean to call you out or anything this is just friendly advice but reading the thread i just gotta say
this is grudge tier
im not sure you understand this tier or the importance of posting in it.
[TG] is an awesome guild and I’m disappointed they aren’t moving to FA, but DB will be a great home for them.
Honestly, I kind of hope maguuma smashes the skittles out of us because I really don’t want to spend tier 2 money on seige.
Dolyak war…. dolyak war never changes
My guild and I(Dragonbrand), figured coming into this match-up that CD would be crushing us, having won the prior week. To this end we(and a lot of other Dragonbrand fighters) went into CD bl at reset, seized that Hills keep, and kept it for three days. Had we realized the extent of the power-shift due to IoJ>FA transfers we might have rethought our strategy and tried to take and hold a foothold in FA bl. We never expected it to work so well, and if it served as some sort of catalyst to start a collapse of the CD wvw scene I am sorry.
To my fellow Dragonbrand fighters we now have a choice. Fight hard, focus CD exclusively and we might stay in Tier 3 next week. Or we can relax, take second place with the margin we have, and fall to Tier 4.
If we stay in Tier 3 we will be fighting FA and Maguuma. In that match-up I think we will take third, but it will be a good hard fight from all sides. If we fall to Tier 4 we will fight Kaineng and YB. And Kaineng will smash us, but we’ll still take second place easily over YB. I know, many of you will disagree with that assessment. But you’re wrong. Kaineng can field queues in all four maps, they can keep queues in 1-2 maps 24/7. DB can’t come close to those numbers.
This is particularly important because it will be the last three days before paid server transfers go active. I think it will be better for Dragonbrand morale and keep people’s spirits higher to stay in Tier 3 and fight a rough, but solid match-up against FA and MAG, rather than be steamrolled by Kaineng.
So get in WvW, and pressure CD until the end of this match-up.
People always say X server will destroy everything just you wait. Before FA went to tier 3 people were calling it the tier smasher. (ha). Mag and Kaineng could be the real deal but there’s no way of knowing until reset.
I’m excited about Mag this weekend even though I wont get to play much. If there’s one thing we like on FA it’s facing “unbeatable” servers.
The difference between spvp and wvw is essentially that you can have different comps in WvW and use different strategies because of the number of people involved.
To put it another way, spvp is about how well you play AGAINST other people. WvW is about how well you play WITH other people. If you aren’t working with others cooperatively and acting in concert with your teammates, WvW wont be much fun for you.
You’re forgetting the part where if you go to tpvp to do 5v5, you will lose the match almost instantly. The game mode is about avoiding conflict whever possible so that you can spend more time sitting on a circle. Anyone going into tpvp expecting highly skilled 5v5’s is/is going to be disappointed pretty fast!
I’m really not. I didn’t say you’re working with teammates in spvp.

I made a video a while back on one of my first foray’s into guardian; I think it pretty accurately captures what WvW is about. It’s twenty minutes or so of mostly uncut and unedited WvW. Parts of it are boring and involve us positioning, because parts of WvW are boring. (Parts of every aspect of the game are boring.)
Everyone is mad.
I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV’s while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We know things are bad – worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.’ Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot – I don’t want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad. You’ve got to say, ’I’m a HUMAN BEING, God kitten it! My life has VALUE!’ So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, ’I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell – ’I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad!… You’ve got to say, ’I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: “I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!”
Does kaining run any small group stuff or is it all for the realm business?
Kaineng on an individual basis is one of the least skilled servers we have gone up against. Maguuma is much better in terms of individual skill overall.
But, what Kaineng has that Maguuma doesn’t are multiple no-skill 30-40 mobile guild zergballs. And, they’ve picked up even more of this cheese in the last couple of days.
Thats a general blanket statement If I ever seen one ;p lol
Maguuma knows about RE already, and I can vouch that WM is top shelf WvW hands down. There are other great guilds I have seen, and some new ones which I have not seen as well. I will admit that Kaineng PUG’s can you a little bit of guidance, not for WvW, but for WvW in higher tiers is what I mean. But I can tell you, Kaineng PUG’s are willing and eager to learn.
We’ve beaten RE and WM is open field fights with comprable numbers on both sides. The only thing that has killed us are the 30+ man zergballs that Kaineng runs. We run a max of 15, but usually have 10 or less.
Oh not this again…lol
onesies and twosies dont count, on either side friend. I wont play tic for tac but I will say in higher tiers 30 man zergs are not big zergs at all, and 30 man zergs wont do anything to some of the zergs I have seen when I faced YB/CD/FA a while back. 10-15 man teams are great, but when faced in higher tiers those numbers are just loot bags in all honesty, sorry to be frank.
Yes, please proceed to the upper teirs where zerg groups can run around and autoattack their way to success. It’s an excellent place for zerglings to play together.
Please come to Fight Club when we host it
Its a great PvP style event for every one. PvP skill wise, that is where we can showcase everything, but to win in WvW, numbers and coverage, those are key elements, sorry to say but 5-15 PvP experts can not win against 30+ man zergs in WvW.
PUG zergs, yes. Guild zergs, no. If we cared about server ranks we would have left DR a long time ago. We want balanced fights and although you aren’t personally responsible for the crap we’ve been getting – I’ll take it out on you, nonetheless.
It sounds like WvW isn’t for you. If you want even man odds then you want spvp. The only selling point of WvW’s pvp is that you can put together a complex group composition with a lot of moving parts.
That screenshot doesn’t really do much for me.
However, I did see the BEST. THING. EVER. two nights ago.
I mean technically I guess you could call it an exploit, but it would be so hard to do intentionally that honestly everyone should just stop and clap when it happens.
We’re defending bay in one of the BLs, CD is rushing into a breech when suddenly the wall upgrade finishes. about 7 CD end up stuck in the wall, unattackable
What do they do?
THEY BUILD SEIGE. IN THE WALL.
Easily dealt with but It was awesome and everyone should do it if they get the chance.
As an engineer, a large majority of my skills are AoE, and even some of the single-target abilities tend to have AoE benefits (rifle piercing, pistol shot’s explosions, etc).
Needless to say I am very concerned with any addressments to AoE as a group effect. I’ve already pretty much given up on grenades in WvW as their effects just don’t match the crazy button spam they require, and I’d sure as hate to see even my bomb kit become less useful to boot. Toolkit is fun to use on thieves who aren’t prepared and wind up killing themselves, but it only takes me so far…
I don’t really get it. I’m an engie who has more or less been forced to switch to Guard because of AOE nerfs and the lack of a viable comp-enhancing WvW build. Guards are quickly becoming a must-have class despite the fact that the two best control abilities are not damage dependent (line of warding, wall of reflection)
I have some unfortunate news for all those interested in the Dolyak Parade.
Unfortunately, my main guild has decided to move house. So, there will be no dolyak parade this week. However, I will be producing a dolyak video that features the DB and FA players who I filmed over the last few days. I will certainly post it here, and after the shake up of servers this Friday, hopefully we will meet again and be able to have a grand parade.
KH from CD transferring?
Do i smell breaking news
Here’s the good old cross server guild I remember from the double team
also
FACT: If the team that isn’t in first place is attacking you, they’re obviously playing for second. Right guys? Right?
I welcome smug comments from Maguuma because their posting is pretty good. We’re both comprised of a number of forum communities, and I’m pretty sure that the entire rivalry with Maguuma that previously existed was based on that, at least as far as FA goes; we pretty much know what they’re on about.
Someone asked why all the bad blood, so, a brief history of the grudge tier
The bad blood with CD goes back to a dolyak parade. Yes, really. Some individuals decided to have a roleplaying event wherein they designated a dolyak as nearing retirement. During the parade, they (as well as the dolyak) were randomly killed by some FA players. In retaliation, Tarnished Coast and Crystal Desert spent the rest of the reset openly double teaming FA.
TC and CD were less persistent in their double teaming in the subsequent reset for reasons that are mostly lost to history, but probably revolve around the fact that it was hard to capitalize on dolyak rage indefinitely. A reset or so later, TC had switched tiers with IOJ after an unfortunate decline by IOJ. CD became top of the tier following TC’s exit, and for whatever reason this made some individuals from their server compose posts that others disliked. (Or perhaps the posts were more noticable. It’s tough to say.)
Of course, FA and IOJ were also guilty of this, but due to the sheer frequency of posts coming from CD, (mostly from one person, mind you) they appeared to the other two servers as the primary instigator.
Those posts either accused CD of zerging, gloated about taking SMC or some random camp in EB, and honestly some posts were just weird and I don’t really know how to classify them.
Shortly thereafter, Arenanet announced the end of free transfers. After several of IOJ’s core guilds decided to move servers, a number of other IOJ guilds decided it was a good time to switch to a server where their coverage felt like it was making a difference. The obvious choice (although, as they note, others were considered) was one of the two servers where they knew that their time zone would make an enormous difference, i.e., the ones they were up against.
Each IOJ guild transfer had it’s own reasons and motivations, (and in fact not all of them transferred to FA) but it would be disingenuous to claim that the history and facts noted above had no impact on their decisions. In the immediate aftermath of the transfers, roughly five days ago I guess, a perception apparently formed among Crystal Desert denizens that it was in fact a slight on them.
Perhaps it was, perhaps it wasn’t; I don’t think it had any impact one way or the other on feelings between FA and CD. Many players want to feel the grudge, so they’ll find something. Ultimately, the original cause all tl;dr’s down to “some guys killed a dolyak and now we are at war forever.”
(edited by Zoel.9154)
PEOPLE OF [DOLY]
YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED.
You celebrate dolyaks as if they are graceful embodiments of nature, when in fact they are nothing more than symbols of bourgeois oppression. The wages of dolyaks are death. Even now dolyaks carry the weapons of war across tyria used to kill women, children, and innocents. How would there be war without dolyaks?
I say unto you my brethren, shall we allow this mindless celebration of murder to continue unpunished? Or shall we stand up, together, and end this madness?
Welcome to Dragonbrand, I haven’t had a chance to fight you much yet, I was on the FA side of CDBL last night, but you’re sticking close in score and that shows you’ve got what it takes.
To FA and the [RET]-led zerg, I am going to love fighting you guys for about a week, during which I’m going to learn all of your tricks and tactics. Then I’d like you to all retire from GW2 and do something less harmful to my repair bill. Underwater basket-weaving sounds like a boom industry right now, I’ve heard…
I never understood how people complained about repair bills and costs exceeding gains in WvW. Then I switched from Engineer to Guardian.
Son. of. a. kitten.
It’s why so many people run a spec that lets them run away from fights as soon as the melee turn into loot bags. If more of them actually had a full set of support skills and cared about what was happening to you in a fight then you wouldn’t die nearly so easily.
But then they would start to feel your repair costs for losing. It isn’t very expensive but the idea of spending more money on repairs than you get from standard drops is intensely unappealing to modern gamers.
I didn’t die very much, it was just a bag recession. It was really more of a whoops in that we ran an all guardian groups which worked fine except oh yeah we have to tag things.

We should stop arguing and focus on what is really important right now.
CHOOSING FA’S NEW NAME!
I feel it’s important to celebrate fort aspenwood’s new era with a name change that reflects the new reality of the server. So here are my suggestions:A) Fort Janthir
B) isle of Aspenwood
C) Maguuma
D) Bandwagon of JanspenwoodI vote for C) Maguuma, final answer. Now they need to make some threads telling everyone to leave their server.
Excuse me, excuse me.
I will have you know that the correct term to refer to FA residents such as myself is “aspies”
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Just another day in the ’ol grudge tier.
Had some really good fights at SMC last night. I took a fraps of it. It’s kind of long but pretty much captures the end of that defense.
Oh, scratch what I said. It seems you get to stay with us and complain about “sheer numbers” for another week before you get to realize the winning server is always slated as skill-less and zergy. Cause no other server zergs, right?
Just because you zerg doesn’t mean you don’t have skill. [Hel] Zergs like woah, for example. They also work together better than the gears in a bulova clock, which for their numbers is insanely impressive.
Of course Zerg is kind of a weird term; it’s used as a verb but it’s not like you decide to have four full maps anymore than you decide eating food and sleeping every day is a good idea.
It’d be nice to win against CD and get that bandwagon rolling in our direction, but until free server transfers are over it’s probably for the best that we don’t pick up fair-weather Friday transfers.
Most people use it to refer to a group of people that outnumber their opponents to the point that gear and strategy is rendered meaningless.
Hahaha, no they kittening don’t.
Most people use it to refer to a group big enough that their personal gear and strategy might fail.
I didn’t think you were changing your definition from “a group of people with no VoiP, have no communication and strive for the same objective; to fight and be useless.” The new definition you are employing certainly does fall in line with mine, I’m glad you could agree. You might note that your original definition of Zerg is in fact far more scathing on a rather peculiar basis, essentially focused on the use of VoIP.
The term comes … starcraft, in which Zerg … make up for having weaker overall units by having more of them… they are also essentially mindless insects … it is frequently considered an insult to accuse your opponents of “Zerging.”
That last bit is what’s important- we’re petty people so naturally we insult our opponents at every opportunity. We beat you? You’re weak. You beat us? kitten zerglings just ran us over with numbers but we know we’re better than them player for player.
I’d put the average pug commander on level with most of the cerebrates that you beat up in the original game’s campaign. It just took the proper strategist and some elite soldiers to perform surgical strikes on them (no seriously, pugs turn tail and run really fast when their commander is dead. That’s why we don’t ((usually)) chew each other out for wasting time focusing folks with the tag.)
That’s an interesting description to ascribe to your opponents. I certainly hope you haven’t taken so much offense at the relatively innocuous comments in this thread, so I’ll assume your description of “petty cerebrates” was in jest rather than a knee jerk reaction. Personally, if I were to make fun of my own server, I would ignore the obvious myth that most players watch their mini-map and keep track of their surroundings, and instead I would make light of the fact that our overprivleged PvE server hits the 10 tag per map cap on a regular basis.
@ Desterion.6407 The definition of a Zerg (In terms of GW2 standards) is a group of people with no VoiP, have no communication and strive for the same objective; to fight and be useless. What’s yours? I’m curious!
I’m pretty sure nobody has ever used such a technical and dry definition of Zerg in a serious fashion before. I’ve never heard of “gw2 standards” applying to what I had previously thought was a universal gaming term.
Most people use it to refer to a group of people that outnumber their opponents to the point that gear and strategy is rendered meaningless. The term comes from the popular video game starcraft, in which Zerg can play what is called a “macro” game where they focus on building an economy and production structures. They then make up for having weaker overall units by having more of them due to a stronger economy, more resources, and more production structures. From a lore perspective, they are also essentially mindless insects, and due to that lore it is frequently considered an insult to accuse your opponents of “Zerging.”
lol fa is trying so hard to get bay on fabl
are you john madden?
See, the guys who are smarter, see, those are the ones that are going to get the keep. Because they use seige, you know? And seige is something you use to attack walls, and doors. And the guys that use the seige, see, those are the guys who can take down the walls and the doors. But not as fast as if they are upgraded. Because upgrades slow that down. But they still want the keep, because that’s worth a lot of points.
not talking about who is smarter or what.
I’m just laughing cause it took them so long and so much.and please whoever it is stop posting my id on the lfg website. thats so dumb
Hey, the offensive linemen are the biggest guys on the field, they’re bigger than everybody else, and that’s what makes them the biggest guys on the field.

Someone dropped a bunch of siege in front of FA’s EB spawn. Some called it a dirty tactic/spy from CD, but I think it was just a bored guy with a lot of money to waste. Seems rather funny to me as I built a golem from it, as opposed to others who found it irritating =P
LOL THAT GUY
ok so there was this dude who was looking for map completion
and his BIG IDEA was to use the seige cap
to make FA fail. so FA could go in a worse tier. So he could get map completion when FA rolled tier 4 or whatever.
So. I tell the guy. yo. brah. Did you know about world transfers? And he’s like, that costs money. And i’m like no man, it’s less than you might think. Just do it in the log in screen. So he does, right?
And he’s like
IT DIDN’T EVEN ASK ME IF I WANTED TO SPEND THE MONEY
GOD. I HATE YOU. YOU PROBABLY JUST COST ME FIFTY DOLLARS
and on this day, my friends, I was a victor.
You didn`t happen to copy and passed this did you ?
GO LONG
I’ll admit. Every time I see a time warp on a Ballista, I die a little inside.
Shout out to the [RET] [GODS] and [OBEY} Guilds for the amazing fight at pangloss mine!
Was very nice to see that portal bomb try against all the seven of us, too bad it didnt work out twice for you guys, until you eventually overwhelmed us…
We’re so baddddd…. XDDDDOhh forgot to mention the fights at smc! That was some amazing stuff!
When Aspenwood got it I was like “OK we lostthey’ll be able to defend it for a while!” but, surprisingly enough, we had it back 20 min later.
Yeah. You guys fought really well. I was particularly impressed when you portal bombed onto the side of a cliff! I thought we had lost for sure, but thankfully we had a guardian who reflexively hit sanctuary.
I also thought that the actual act of escorting the yak also increased the score, but on brief testing it appeared that you actually get points for killing anything that attacks the Yak when the event completes, so still NPCs. I’ve certainly seen the score not increase when the Yak pokes his head in.
I’m talking about both of those things. That’s unfortunate that it’s complicated, but I’ll try to bring it down a notch.
Higher tier matchups get more points (game points, overall) than lower tier ones.
The magic of fractions make scores technically closer in more active tiers than less active ones, so you have a greater opportunity to achieve rank points (the kind for tier placement) in a less active tier.
Therefore the gain or loss of a tier is heavily based on an essentially uncontrollable and arbitrary factor depending on the activity level of each tier, because two teams in different tiers are essentially scored on different scales.
I hope this helps your understanding.
Why would you think that managing a 30k lead over the other servers should mean you are fit enough for the next tier? Why would you think even having a 50k lead over the other servers would mean that you don’t belong in your current tier?
I’m not sure that points (game points, not ranking points) work the way you think they do.
It’s completely trivial for the third place server to gain rank points because of the manner in which (edit: real points) they’re acquired. If it was based purely on objectives then sure, it would be easy to outpace the 2nd or 3rd place server by huge margins. Unfortunately, that’s not how points are acquired. For instance, you get 1 point per NPC killed. This means that you can actually get more points for attacking SMC than you can for holding it. By a lot.
Lets take a look at the maximum points a team could earn, theoretically, just based on objectives, which are the point of the game.
There are 695 points up for grabs, every tick. There are 7 days in a match up, 4 ticks in an hour, and therefore there are 672 ticks per matchup. There is therefore a maximum of 467,040 points to be earned in every match from ticks alone.
Wait wait wait, WHAT?
For the week of December 29 to January 5, the three servers in tier one combined scored 624,399 points. This means that PTT only accounts for roughly 75% of the available points. That leaves 25% (AKA the margin you win by) of the points to NPC kills. If you hold too many objectives, then you actually have significantly reduced scoring chances, because you have more NPCs.
N.B. points are awarded for NPCs aligned with one team or another, not for random wolves on the map.
As servers figure this out, scores will become more and more ridiculous. FA for instance shouldn’t be doing as well as it is, but since we fail to take SMC so frequently, we actually get more points than if we had it.
I hope this helps you understand why scores don’t seem to reflect reality.
So, I cant have lower ranks activate upgrades while not being able to claim objectives.
I have an idea, instead of complaining about how certain guilds setup their permissions and proposing a solution that would forceably change everyone, how about you talk to the offending guilds in question instead of needlessly merging permissions.
This is why we cant have nice things.
My my, how upset.
No, you can’t have lower ranks activate upgrades while not able to claim objectives. Why would you want that? What sort of perverse version of trust do you have such that you would trust someone with your car but not the radio station?
Make “activate upgrades” and “claim/unclaim WvW forts” the same permission. After all, if you can’t activate upgrades, why should you be claiming a WvW fort?
1. Limit rallies to the closest downed player to the newly dead player, or at least cap it to 5 like every other heal in the game.
2. change seige limit to be seige value based and not total number of seige based
3. Give dolyak’s armor buffs for each individual protecting them so that one character can’t kamikazi them.
This would make sense from a srs bsns competitive side of things, but most people would look at those numbers and just think they aren’t related to anything at all. The millennium site keeps pretty good track of that info for anyone who cares.
I guess my perspective could be wrong but it seems people complain that green and X are teaming up against the odd color out in EBG in every single Tier
Lets ask you this question:
Which of these towers would you prefer to attack?
1. Wildcreek
2. Anzelia’s
3. Durios
Ok, which of these camps would you prefer to attack?
1. Goltana
2. Speldan
3. Umberglade
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
The forum friendliness is also welcome lets hope it stays that way and the match ups stay close and balanced.
It’s just TC/FA. vOv
depending on tier matchups it will probably turn into a forever war.
post engineer nerf, thief is the main class that I run into randomly and say “Oh thank god this 1v1 is against a thief”
Thief has decent mobility, good condition removal, stealth, and spectacular single target burst damage. They also have a lot of liabilities due to health, the fact that stealth isn’t an end-all be-all escape, and the limited number of viable builds.
There are some thieves who can last for what seems like forever using stealth even when significantly outnumbered, but those are far and few between. I’m inclined to think that people wouldn’t have fewer problems against those players regardless— sometimes player skill gets mistaken for class imbalance.
We were going to come out and help in our FABL but things got weird in CDBL. We ended up defending Bay as an attacker from a defender who was attacking.
Yeah.
Great Job CD.
[Team Dolyak] – We will never forget!
I high five myself every time I see a signature like this. It’s great that you guys are so concerned with us while in an entirely different tier.
OP is correct, with the proper gear and stats you can do quite nicely and occassionally outpace the nerf, however, the cost is ridiculous and probably not everyone will want to invest the time and money. This nerf appears to have made engineer the most gear dependent class.
I switched up to a grenade/elixir r/elixir gun build at 30/20/0/0/20 and do about comparable damage (occasionally better depending on the whims of the RNG) as long as I have 30ish crit chance and 40+ crit damage. Hope you like fractals of the mists.
speculation and wild accusations != proof.
I can speculate that you don’t play engie either, I would be just as wrong, but I can do it.
Game devs, especially system devs, are very often required as part of their contract to play the game for a minimum number of hours (my previous employer would check the login times on our accounts, if we were short, we got cited). I would bet my last dollar that there are at least 100h of engie time alone across the ANet offices in a given week.
So unless you’ve got nothing more than “this change didn’t make sense to me, an armchair dev with no actual professional experience and no inside knowledge about what can and can not be done technically on ANet’s systems”… please, by all means stick to wild speculation and blind guesses.
Usually I hear the opposite when it comes to MMOs because companies have problems with the perception that dev’s playing causes. For instance, a little-known internet spaceship game has an ‘internal affairs’ department that monitors devs to make sure they aren’t cheating, and any sort of PVP has to be investigated after the fact. So, most of them don’t actually play their own game except on test servers.
Does anyone have an example (video, etc) of an over powered grenadier from before the update(s)?
I didn’t make any videos of it but elixer gun/grenadier/elixer r/supply drop was pretty op
With toss elixer r you could self res from downed almost instantly with proper prep (still can), grenadier gave you an edge over thieves and with good use of rifle 2/drop/rifle 4 made cloak silly looking, the proper use of supply drop (as a fast interrupt/stun) gave you some great finishing with low health foes, elixer 4 got you out of a jam (which for some reason is better than rocket boots. vOv) and with kit refinement gave you a condition clear usable while feared/stunned/etc. With elixer 5+f3+kit refinement elixer 5+backpack regenerator you could outtank two non-superior arrow carts with minimal +healing, elixer R’s use is still great for obvious reasons
I’m not really sure what I’ll do now, but for now the same setup works fine, it’s just weaker. I can’t win 1v3’s anymore and thieves aren’t instantly boned when they see me— they definitely have the edge in that matchup now.
I’ve tried other builds but they all seem to still be weaker than this, even post patch, which is a real bummer. I still feel absolutely locked into my setup for lack of options, but I have greatly diminished utility.
yea
what class is closest to old engie? War or ele?
I find it amusing that you find it amusing. I also want to say that it is exactly why we took Garrison and Hills in FA tonight. A bunch of people got mad, they told their friends and so on until TC was queued up. All good commanders showed up and we basically took your borderlands out of spite. It may have happened anyway, later, but who knows.
you see normally TC doesn’t play to conquer objectives and score points but when they’re angry that’s when they decide to get objectives and score points.
haha i saw someone with the guild tag [FA] with the guild named Good Luck In Tier Four
lol if you still don’t realize it’s just a core of people who will continually transfer to whatever server is up against TC because of it’s reputation as people who role-play as charr and the connotations that entails. They’re on FA instead of CD because FA is a better meat shield for north american coverage.
TC will be up against the same group every week because the internet etc.
I like the idea of wvw JP; a place with a jump puzzle and pvp
I think it would be spectacular as its own borderland/area/queue. put some cap points in dark room and chest area etc. Having it as a part of EB and the borderlands is disjointed and kind of frustrating
Had some good fights today/tonight. Ret ran around with 4 commanders at one point because we could and because much like smoking, having a commander icon makes you look cool. Highlights for me included taking smc 4x, swearing off a golem rush at our keep, fighting off cd from ogres and TC from the other side of ogres and later on I ended up trying to explain to people that getting past the gateless entryway at overlook does not constitute an “outer gate breach”.
Then I found five dollars. BOOM. Roasted.
Rangers are definitely the most ANNOYING CLASS. Unless you mean on the other team.
